What happens when a two-star General walks into a corporate boardroom two weeks after taking off the uniform? Robert Mixon found out the hard way — and what he learned reshaped everything he thought he knew about leadership.
In this episode:
• Why 'setting the azimuth' is more powerful than any vision statement — and what it means in practice for civilian leaders
• The sharp difference between a culture of compliance and a culture of commitment, and how to tell which one you're actually building
• What the two-week transition from Major General to corporate president revealed about the gaps no military career prepares you for
• How Warrior Salute is returning dignity and independence to veterans living with TBI and PTSD — and why the VA alone can never solve it
Major General Robert W. Mixon (U.S. Army, Ret.) served 33 years in the U.S. Army, commanding at every level including the 7th Infantry Division and Division West of First Army. After retiring, he led corporate turnarounds before founding Level Five Associates, an executive leadership and culture advisory firm. He is the author of We're All In and The Power of Being All In, and co-founded Warrior Salute, a community-based transition program for veterans with traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress.
