This week on the Localite Podcast, we’re going from Gibsonville to Graham, exploring the old and the brews! We’re talking about some encouraging signs of new business growth in Downtown Burlington, highlighting local favorites from one of our listeners, taking a look at a historic homes tour, and wrapping things up with a Graham-packed Saturday. In our Anecdotal Note, we talk about a recent article highlighting new business growth in Downtown Burlington. According to the report, 12 businesses have recently opened or are preparing to open downtown as the city continues investing in infrastructure and redevelopment. It’s encouraging to see new life coming into the area, although Tyler has a few reservations about whether this is the beginning of something lasting or another round of promises we’ve heard before.
Locals on Localite comes from Courtney Michele, who shared some of her favorite local spots with us on Instagram. Her picks include Press Coffee & Crepes, Graham Cinema, Salvation Coffee, the Burlington Arboretum, and Cane Creek Park. And at this point, you all seem to LOVE Cane Creek Park, so maybe it’s time to officially give it the Localite Approved treatment.
We’ll also Mark Our Calendars for Preservation Alamance’s 7th Annual Tour of Historic Homes, happening November 1st in Gibsonville. This year’s tour will give visitors a chance to explore local architecture and history while getting access to places you might normally pass without ever stepping inside.
Then, in the Curated Calendar of the Week, we’ve got a double dose of Graham on Saturday, September 19th. The Graham Fall Festival takes over Downtown Graham from 10 AM–4 PM with pumpkin painting, line dancing, live music, vendors, and more. Then from 2–8 PM, head over to Forgotten Road Ales for the 5th Annual Grahamtoberfest, featuring local vendors, food trucks, live music from The Rundown, a brat-eating contest, and the always-important Stein Holding Competition.
And of course, Editor’s Picks are back, with Chris Joyce highlighting some local music worth checking out.If you enjoy the show, share it with a friend and follow or subscribe to Localite on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
