Jesus made it His mission to teach others His mission. He noticed the people around Him, invited them into His ministry, and discipled them. That being the case, how can we continue to do that today? What were the keys to His successful mentoring of followers to the point they were able to take the reigns and lead the church after He left this earth? Six principles we will see:
1) Jesus allowed others to join Him.
2) He called others to join Him.
3) Jesus prayed about and for the ones He would lead.
4) He spent time with those He led.
5) Jesus taught those He led.
6) Jesus gave them work to do. He gave those He led opportunities to do the work themselves.
Also, two points to keep in mind regarding leadership development:
1) Remember the teens! Youth need to be mentored and involved as well!
2) Don't be stupid! Do not put yourself in situations of sexual temptation when discipling and mentoring.
