ELEMENTAL MOVIE REVIEW
Disney/Pixar’s latest animated feature is Elemental, the story of a world populated by anthropomorphized elemental beings, either Fire, Earth, Water, or Air. The film follows the Lumen family, immigrants to Element City where fire beings are rare (understandably because of their nature to set fire to everything around them). Raising a family, a business, and eventually being the heart of an entire district isn’t easy but the Lumens manage to create a community around them. The daughter of the family, Ember has a bit of a temper problem, which is the one thing making her aging father uncomfortable about handing the shop over to her. Her temper leads to a broken water pipe in the basement and then a water inspector who could shut everything down. She finds that she’s ready to do anything to stop it from happening, and eventually keep anyone from finding out what happened at all. Not just that she lost her temper again, but that she and the inspector Wade seem to have a friendship and more quickly blooming. Chris, Wright, Tessa, and Beau take on this animated film and decide if it’s on fire or all wet.

Christopher Lawrence Cox (Founder, Da Boss)
Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas in 1992 where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal” turned into a full-time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this community of critics. While Brian eventually followed his heart to a new family, Chris continues on with a cast of colorful folks from all over the country (and a few others). You can also check out Chris in his videocast, along with Martin Thomas and Danni Danger, that One Of Us does with our friends at Bell of Lost Souls: Crossover Event. He also regularly guests on the video game website Rage Select. Follow Chris on Twitter and Facebook and check out his Amazon Wish List.
Tessa Morrison (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, Unstabletop Gamers)
Well-rounded nerd and artist, Tessa Morrison grew up in the misty mountains of West Virginia and was constantly ridiculed for being a “weirdo.” Then moved to Austin in 2009 where people said the same thing, but in an endearing tone. Tessa works an office day job, creates puppets and fiber art, cosplays, models for gaming and animation studios,

GHOST IN THE CELL MOVIE REVIEW Let’s just get out of the way from the get-go that this is in no way beholden to the film that you almost certainly thought of when you saw the title was Ghost in the Cell. There’s no anime referencing here. Instead you get the modern master of Indonesian […]
WITHOUT BLOOD MOVIE REVIEW Ernest Hemingway once wrote, “When you go to war as a boy you have a great illusion of immortality, other people get killed; not you”. A more modern writer, multiple award winning Alessandro Baricco, examines the fallout of war in his work Without Blood which now has been…
DONKEY PRINCESS MOVIE REVIEW From the directors of the politically charged, surreal, animated fairytale film The Wolf House comes the politically charged, surreal, partially animated fairytale film Donkey Princess which was featured at Fantastic Fest this year. PHREAKER MOVIE REVIEW If you’ve ever listened to us talk about Fantastic Fest, you’ve heard us say that often it’s the films that weren’t on your radar at all that end up on your ‘best of the fest’ lists. It’s rare for one of those films to be one of the minority of entries in […]
5 MORE MINUTES MOVIE REVIEW The time-loop time travel conceit in film and tv has been well explored, certainly since 1993’s Groundhog’s Day (although explorations of the idea in fiction go back to the early 20th century). The Spanish film 5 More Minutes which played at this year’s Fantastic Fest se…
