Tina Tower welcomes business coach and mastermind expert, Ellie Swift to discuss masterminds, shifts in the coaching industry, and creating a freedom-filled business while prioritising motherhood.
Ellie shares that since having her daughter, she has become more intentional, planning-driven, and boundaried, embracing the ongoing "dance" rather than seeking balance. She explains how she redesigned her business in preconception and during IVF by consolidating multiple mastermind tiers and how she became more discerning about what deserves her energy, letting go of problems she can't control.
Ellie describes building her business model specifically for motherhood, moving from one-to-one work into scalable one-to-many offers, and defines success as living her values over time: family, abundance and choice, meaningful mission-driven impact, and practical flexibility like school drop-off and pick-up. The conversation explores how the online coaching/education market has shifted from a 2010–2020 "gold rush" (low barrier to entry, people buying broadly) to a more discerning post-COVID environment that demands stronger delivery, clearer IP, and better business fundamentals; Ellie predicts more "weeding out" and increasing emphasis on embodied, original expertise by 2026, especially for masterminds.
Ellie outlines her mastermind framework (the "five Cs": call structure, coaching between calls, community, curriculum, and container criteria) and notes rising expectations for access, outcomes, and congruence between sales and delivery. On the seven-figure path, she highlights three drivers: mindset/identity, clear strategy and business model math, and consistent personal-brand marketing, plus resilience through evolving requirements.
Ellie explains who shouldn't run masterminds (people unwilling to be in relationships, facilitate transformation, or handle feedback), the biggest launch mistake (designing for short-term goals without scalability), and how she manages the energetic load of holding space using strong container boundaries and simple rituals like exhaling after calls and "giving back" energy that isn't hers. In rapid-fire closing, Ellie shares a belief she's outgrown (operating as a solopreneur), a metric she no longer worships (views), and one thing she won't sacrifice again (herself).
