Pentecostal worship culture often teaches that losing control is proof the Holy Spirit is moving, and David’s dance seems to be their main justification. In this episode, we break down what Scripture actually says about David’s worship, why “undignified” doesn’t mean chaotic, and how the Holy Spirit never produces disorder or self-promotion. We examine how David’s wife, Michal, has been unfairly demonized to shame anyone who won’t participate in performative worship. Using biblical context and New Testament teaching, we expose how worship has been turned into a works-based performance system. And we encourage survivors who were pressured to “prove” their spirituality to rest in the freedom of grace.
Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 6:1 ESV
