With a new prophet-president and major changes among the church’s top leadership, six vacancies opened in the Council of Twelve Apostles. Some apostles retired, while others moved into the First Presidency, Presiding Bishopric, and other leadership positions. That meant bringing six new people into the Council of Twelve. But that raises an interesting question:
What exactly Do Community of Christ apostles do?Unlike the LDS Church, Community of Christ assigns apostles to geographic areas called apostolic fields. John Hamer explains how those fields work—and why the latest reorganization has produced some surprising assignments. Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the world are now grouped together in one enormous field, while the United States has been organized very differently. 1189-CoCLeaderChgs 1189-CoCLeaderChgs
And that’s only part of the story.
John and I also discuss changes involving the Presidents of Seventy and what is happening with the historic sites Community of Christ still owns following the transfer of the Kirtland Temple and other properties to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
