What happens when the dream you walked away from starts calling you back? In this episode of Going For It, I sit down with professional tennis player Frances Altick to talk about a journey that looks nothing like the traditional path to becoming a pro athlete. After years of competing, setbacks, injuries, and eventually losing her way within the sport, Frances made the decision to step away from tennis. She built a life outside the court, became an occupational therapist, and for a while, professional tennis was part of her past. Until it wasn't. Frances found her way back to the sport, and now she's competing professionally again, this time with an entirely different perspective on who she is, why she plays, and what success means to her. We talk about the difficult seasons that don't make the highlight reel: injuries, uncertainty, stepping away from something that once defined you, building an identity outside of your sport, and finding the courage to come back even when your path doesn't look like everyone else's. What I love about Frances' story is that it's a reminder that Going For It doesn't always mean never quitting. Sometimes it means walking away, growing into someone new, finding your way back, and realizing you're not finished yet.
