Your gateway to northeastern Thailand has landed
South East Asia scenery developer Simman has released its rendition of Ubon Ratchathani Airport (VTUU) for MSFS users to discover.
Located in the district of Ubon Ratchathani in Northeastern Thailand, Ubon Ratchathani Airport (VTUU) has a rich history that dates back to the Vietnam War era. Originally built in 1955 as a military airfield for the Royal Thai Air Force, the airport played a crucial role in the war effort as a base for US Air Force operations. During the war, the airport was a key hub for the transport of troops and supplies, as well as a base for reconnaissance and bombing missions.
After the war, Ubon Ratchathani Airport was returned to the Royal Thai Air Force and was used for both military and civilian purposes. In 1989, the airport was upgraded to international status, and since then, has become an important gateway to the northeastern region of Thailand. Today, Ubon Ratchathani Airport (VTUU) serves exclusively domestic flights, with airlines such as Thai Airways, Nok Air, and AirAsia offering regular services to destinations across Thailand including Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
