Speaker 1: The Frames Per Second Podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: Welcome to another episode of The Frames Per Second Podcast.
00:00:12
Speaker 1: I'm your host for the evening.
00:00:13
Speaker 2: My name is Mike. Next to me, I have Spike.
00:00:15
Speaker 1: What up?
00:00:15
Speaker 2: Across from Spike, I have Ken.
00:00:17
Speaker 1: Hola.
00:00:17
Speaker 2: And next to Ken, I have Rod.
00:00:19
Speaker 1: Yo, what up, man?
00:00:20
Speaker 2: And yeah, we are.
00:00:21
Speaker 1: In spooky season.
00:00:25
Speaker 2: So we're going to be covering some horror, some horror movies, y'all. And, yeah, we did a little scan to see what movies were coming up on anniversaries. And to me, this was a no-brainer. I don't know about the crew yet, but since Mike Flanagan is either doing it or he's already done it, I need to look that up. But he's going to be doing Carrie. So we decided to do the 1976 version starring Sissy Spacek.
00:00:51
Speaker 1: I think you already done it. The series is about to come out.
00:00:53
Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay, okay. That's what I was trying to figure out because I keep seeing reviews for it. I'm like, how do y'all already have reviews? Did it come out yet? But I guess they got early. I think it's going to be on Peacock or something like that. I'm about to get Peacock just for that month then.
00:01:05
Speaker 1: All right.
00:01:05
Speaker 2: So we're talking about Carrie. This was by Brian DePalma, who's the same guy that did Body Double, Untouchables, Carlitos Way. He did Scarface. But yeah, so I'm going to go around the room. Let's give some quick thoughts. Let me know if this is your first time seeing it. and what you thought. I will not start with Spike. I'm going to start with Rod. No, this is not my first time seeing it.
00:01:30
Speaker 3: For the longest, I would see it like in patches or whatever, just kind of like on TV or something, maybe like FX or I don't know, whatever channel would pop up on occasionally. But never like actually sat down and watched the whole movie. So I think this is actually the first time I sat down and watched the whole thing, to be quite honest.
00:01:47
Speaker 2: And yeah, I think it's done really well, actually.
00:01:50
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:01:51
Speaker 3: You know, obviously it has like some, you know, that old 70s going into the 80s kind of tropes in a sense. But I like that, those nostalgic tropes or whatever. So, no, I thought they did a really good job with filming. And it was very intentional with all of that stuff, filming, lighting. And that was big for like a, you know, horror movie.
00:02:18
Speaker 1: Horror stories. So yeah, I thought, oh yeah, this is a good job. You're not alone, Rod.
00:02:25
Speaker 4: I found out for the first time that my wife had not sat and watched.
00:02:30
Speaker 1: The whole movie. She's only seen certain scenes as well. I'm like, what?
00:02:35
Speaker 2: How is that possible?
00:02:36
Speaker 4: But apparently it is. But no, I've seen this movie multiple times, bro. It's definitely a classic. I thought it was dope that I did find out that This was his first movie adapted to the bit screen, Stephen King.
00:02:53
Speaker 1: He was 26 at the time. I was just looking some stuff up after. But, nah. Nah, yeah. I was watching the movie when I was a kid. So, it was on HBO. I was watching Gary. Never seen it and never watched it again. Wait, say that again?
00:03:06
Speaker 5: Never seen it and will never watch it again. There's nothing that was good about it to me.
00:03:12
Speaker 1: Game like the White City?
00:03:13
Speaker 4: Oh!
00:03:14
Speaker 2: You mean the dirty pillows?
00:03:15
Speaker 1: I didn't like none of it. I didn't like none of it. None of it. Really? None of it, no. That's what's scary. It wasn't even there. I just thought it was dumb. That is funny. I just didn't like it. It was just dumb. Golly.
00:03:32
Speaker 2: Well, I have seen this movie many times. I think it's great. I've seen all of the adaptations, and they're all pretty decent, but this is still the best one. The one they had with Zac, what's his name? Zac Efron was a little mid, but there was one that came out in 2003 that was pretty good. But this one, this is the classic with Sissy Spacek. I think this movie is great. It's definitely one of those horror movies that if you just kind of watch it, you're just like, okay, it's just a horror movie about a girl that starts killing people. But there's a lot of subtext. There's a lot of nuance to this movie. We won't get into it all. because these guys don't want to talk about it, but we're going to go ahead and get started. We meet 16-year-old Carrie White, who, after losing a volleyball game for her team, realized that she has her first period in the shower, and she's not knowing what's happening to her, and she starts to panic. So, Spike, this didn't set the movie off right for you? No.
00:04:27
Speaker 1: It didn't make no sense. I do not have my real blood. It didn't make any sense.
00:04:31
Speaker 5: What do you mean it didn't make any sense?
00:04:36
Speaker 2: I can't.
00:04:39
Speaker 1: They in high school, how she not know what to do when she on her period?
00:04:41
Speaker 2: When she first gets her period.
00:04:43
Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, they told us that.
00:04:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, but she ain't had no conversations about it?
00:04:50
Speaker 2: No.
00:04:51
Speaker 1: This is a surprise?
00:04:52
Speaker 2: You met her mom.
00:04:53
Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah.
00:04:54
Speaker 2: She has no friends, and yeah, her mom is crazy.
00:04:58
Speaker 1: All right.
00:04:58
Speaker 2: Anybody else? Was this a good way to kick the movie off?
00:05:04
Speaker 4: I will say, when I was watching this, I was like, yo, Brian De Palma was on some shit.
00:05:10
Speaker 1: Like, what?
00:05:10
Speaker 2: Slow-mo titties. Man.
00:05:12
Speaker 1: For whatever reason.
00:05:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like, bro.
00:05:15
Speaker 4: I know it was the time. I know that's how they got down. And I'm like, okay, now I see why I was watching this when I was young. It's like, you had me hooked from the, I mean, we're talking about a young kid, bro. I was like, oh, yeah, no wonder I was in front of the TV. But I was like, yo, like, and today, Today, in the present, watching this, and the way he just walked through that whole thing, and the way she was taking the shower, I was like, yo, this.
00:05:40
Speaker 1: Dude was wild. It's like, golly. Yeah, that was crazy.
00:05:46
Speaker 3: He made it seem super seductive.
00:05:47
Speaker 2: Bro. Yeah.
00:05:50
Speaker 4: The way she doing this, and then the shower, I was like, yo, this dude tripping, bro.
00:05:54
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, the flaccid shower thing, like sprinkling out water.
00:05:58
Speaker 1: Like, yeah. Oh, he didn't care.
00:06:00
Speaker 2: I didn't pick up no flaccid dick squirting shower water. The fucking shower heads.
00:06:05
Speaker 3: Like, they made that very apparent.
00:06:08
Speaker 1: She was just like. Yeah, it was.
00:06:10
Speaker 2: You didn't notice that? No, y'all motherfuckers just horny.
00:06:13
Speaker 1: No. Y'all motherfuckers just horny.
00:06:16
Speaker 2: That's what they did. That's absolutely what they did.
00:06:19
Speaker 1: Imagine this. I'm surprised. Yeah, I'm surprised.
00:06:21
Speaker 2: I'm really surprised you didn't miss that. I pick it up on the other part that we'll get to, but I didn't pick it up in the shower.
00:06:26
Speaker 1: Nah, this over there.
00:06:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, it looked like a dick. Had a little, little, little spout. I ain't never seen a dick that looked like that.
00:06:32
Speaker 1: That shower head.
00:06:33
Speaker 2: I'm done. Yeah, no, I just didn't think about it.
00:06:36
Speaker 1: That shower head definitely squirted all over him.
00:06:38
Speaker 2: I'm going to be like, I'm done.
00:06:39
Speaker 1: Damn, that's it. Yeah, it was, yeah. Yeah. You could have had any other shower head. Man, bro.
00:06:45
Speaker 2: Any other shower head, but you picked that one.
00:06:48
Speaker 1: Ron DePalma was wild.
00:06:49
Speaker 2: So y'all not going to your homeboy's house taking a shower if his shower head looks like that?
00:06:54
Speaker 1: Why am I in the shower?
00:06:55
Speaker 4: First of all, you know, forget about the cake.
00:07:01
Speaker 2: This is why I go for a long ride. Forget about the cake. Forget about the hugs.
00:07:06
Speaker 3: I'm not taking a shower in your shower, bro.
00:07:08
Speaker 2: Hey, never mind. All right. So after this happens, you know, Miss Collins has to step in and help her. She ends up slapping the shit out of her and kind of bringing her back to reality and all that.
00:07:18
Speaker 1: Mike, this damn teacher, bro. Bro, she was slapping everybody.
00:07:23
Speaker 2: All the kids, bro. I was like, damn, how they get away with that in the 80s, bro? The fuck was up with the 80s? Say something.
00:07:30
Speaker 1: I dare you to tell somebody.
00:07:32
Speaker 2: I dare you to tell somebody. I'm going to fuck up your child's process. Slap him, too.
00:07:38
Speaker 1: She smacked the whole class.
00:07:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, damn.
00:07:41
Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
00:07:43
Speaker 2: But, yeah, they make it to where she can go home. Carrie can go home. We ain't got to talk about it, but I like the part where she made that little punk-ass boy fall off his bike.
00:07:51
Speaker 1: Oh, man, yeah, that was funny. Oh, yeah.
00:07:53
Speaker 2: What did y'all think of Carrie's mom? Because we see she stopped by Sue Snell's house to talk to him about Jesus. So was there anything that you took from this scene?
00:08:05
Speaker 1: That her mom was a psychopath. Damn, that's a critical psychopath, huh? Yeah. He must be of the devil. No.
00:08:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, they do kind of set up her mom being crazy.
00:08:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, they set it up being crazy. Yeah, and, you know, yeah, yeah, no, we move on.
00:08:22
Speaker 2: All right, so once home, Carrie and her mother have a conversation about why her period happened. So do y'all remember this?
00:08:29
Speaker 1: This part? Did she say she committed sin? Yes. Yeah, so she had sex?
00:08:35
Speaker 2: She didn't say she had sex, but she said that she definitely sinned. And that's why the period started. That's the only reason the period started, because you sinned.
00:08:44
Speaker 1: See, I thought she was talking about sex, because she was like, I didn't have sex, mama. Right. Or something like that. Or something like that.
00:08:51
Speaker 2: She said something about... She's making her repeat these things. And one of them was about intercourse. Right.
00:08:56
Speaker 3: So that's why I assumed she thought she had.
00:08:57
Speaker 1: I'm like, well, she didn't have sex. Like, what are you doing? Go ahead and ask the question, Spike. Her mama has a period.
00:09:04
Speaker 2: But she sinned.
00:09:06
Speaker 1: Remember?
00:09:06
Speaker 2: We'll get to that at the end.
00:09:07
Speaker 1: But she sinned. Okay.
00:09:08
Speaker 2: That's how Carrie's here.
00:09:09
Speaker 1: Gotcha. Gotcha.
00:09:12
Speaker 2: In the next scene, we meet Tommy Ross, who y'all might remember him from Greatest American Hero, if you're our age. He was also in the movie House.
00:09:21
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm the only one.
00:09:21
Speaker 2: That's okay.
00:09:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't watch House. I didn't know he was in House.
00:09:27
Speaker 2: He's the main guy. No, no, no, not the doctor. The old horror movie House.
00:09:32
Speaker 1: Oh, you're missing out. The movie's great.
00:09:35
Speaker 2: But yeah, so.
00:09:37
Speaker 2: Carrie describes his poem as beautiful in class. But we also see that Carrie's even bullied by her teachers. That's something to keep note of. But again.
00:09:48
Speaker 1: Ms.
00:09:48
Speaker 2: Collins keeps sticking up for her, and she punishes the girls who picked on her by threatening their prom tickets if they don't straighten up. Most of the girls follow the orders, but one of her main bullies, Chris Hargensons, who y'all would know as Louis from RoboCop, she refuses and she gets banned from the prom. This is the part y'all already talked about where she started slapping him.
00:10:09
Speaker 1: That was his partner in RoboCop.
00:10:11
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:10:11
Speaker 1: I had fun with it. Yeah, me either. Damn. This was.
00:10:17
Speaker 2: No, I'm sorry. This was almost 10 years prior to her being in RoboCop. So she had her titties out and everything.
00:10:23
Speaker 1: It was, you know, yeah.
00:10:27
Speaker 2: So was Miss... Okay, so Sue Snell and her boyfriend Tommy, they come up with this plan. It's mainly Sue's plan to get Tommy to take Carrie to the prom. Was Miss Collins right for questioning Sue and Tommy to make sure everything was on the.
00:10:43
Speaker 1: Up and up?
00:10:45
Speaker 4: Yes um because she is fully aware of how the whole school views carrie yes and they uh abuse her they mistreat her um even in the gym before she threatened them you know we saw their painting they're drawing stuff on the walls and stuff like that carries a witch whatever they said i can't remember exactly what it was written on there but Yeah, so, nah, she was completely right to question their intent. And she was spot on, you know, as well. So her instincts were good.
00:11:22
Speaker 2: How was she spot on?
00:11:24
Speaker 1: She didn't believe that they were pure.
00:11:26
Speaker 2: But they were pure.
00:11:29
Speaker 1: He didn't like her, though.
00:11:30
Speaker 2: But it wasn't like a setup.
00:11:34
Speaker 4: It wasn't a malicious. Okay, I see what you're saying. It wasn't the sort of evil malicious part. Like they were trying to embarrass her and make fun of her. So they had pure intent, but it still was main fashion. Okay, I got it.
00:11:49
Speaker 2: They weren't trying to do anything bad.
00:11:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, I see what you're saying.
00:11:50
Speaker 2: Miss Collins thought they were trying to do something bad.
00:11:52
Speaker 1: You're right, you're right, you're right. I'm wrong, yeah.
00:11:55
Speaker 2: Anybody else?
00:11:57
Speaker 1: All right.
00:11:58
Speaker 2: So we also meet Chris's boyfriend, Billy Nolan, who every time I see this movie, I forget that John Travolta is in this movie.
00:12:04
Speaker 1: I was like, bro, what is John Travolta doing?
00:12:06
Speaker 2: I never knew that.
00:12:07
Speaker 1: And he still looked like he, The same age. Same fucking person. Bro, yeah. He never age.
00:12:13
Speaker 2: So did y'all take anything from this part? Other than one, Billy doesn't like being called a dumb shit. And two, Sue Snell is talented. Because she gave a blowjob and was just having a full sentence at the same time. I ain't never had nothing like that. I ain't never had that. That was insane.
00:12:31
Speaker 1: She was like, Billy.
00:12:32
Speaker 2: She was talking out of ear. Must have been. I ain't never heard no shit like that. She said, Billy. Ooh, Billy. I'm like, how is she doing that? Trying to see what that's about.
00:12:46
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
00:12:48
Speaker 2: Nice.
00:12:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, nah.
00:12:51
Speaker 2: No, no one has anything from this part. You didn't get anything weird from Billy? Yeah. The motherfucker was an adult? Yeah. He's a grown-ass man. He's a grown-ass man, and he's over here dating a fucking 16-year-old?
00:13:01
Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I think they were, wasn't he supposed to be like a dropout, a high school dropout?
00:13:07
Speaker 2: I don't know if he graduated, but he definitely wasn't in high school anymore.
00:13:10
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:13:11
Speaker 2: And I thought, he seemed like he was old.
00:13:13
Speaker 1: He did. He did. He definitely wasn't given 16 at all. Not at all. Okay, yeah, so, nah, but.
00:13:20
Speaker 4: Sign of the times to a certain degree.
00:13:22
Speaker 5: Yeah, because they did that kind of stranger things, I thought, a little bit. That boyfriend went to school with her.
00:13:28
Speaker 1: Never mind.
00:13:29
Speaker 2: He just looks dumb old.
00:13:30
Speaker 4: But no, that was her, you know, manipulating him into doing this thing that he didn't want to do after being smacked around, you know, which may have, you know, and him not liking that.
00:13:43
Speaker 1: He was definitely a very violent partner. You know, towards her.
00:13:47
Speaker 2: You must learn that from Miss Collins, too.
00:13:48
Speaker 1: I guess so.
00:13:50
Speaker 4: Maybe that's why she didn't like it and stormed off.
00:13:53
Speaker 1: Like, I get enough of this with my boyfriend.
00:13:54
Speaker 2: Right, right.
00:13:55
Speaker 1: Now you, too?
00:13:56
Speaker 2: He's going to give me some dick afterwards.
00:13:57
Speaker 1: He's going to slap me in front of everybody. But, yeah. Yeah, but... And she didn't even tell him what she wanted. She was waiting until after the fact.
00:14:05
Speaker 2: That's right. That's the best time to tell a motherfucker to do some shit.
00:14:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like.
00:14:09
Speaker 2: Women know that.
00:14:10
Speaker 1: You know? Mm-hmm.
00:14:14
Speaker 2: So, yeah, so with a little pressure, Tommy convinces Carrie to go to prom with him.
00:14:16
Speaker 1: A little pressure.
00:14:17
Speaker 2: Well, he did, yeah, he was being a little forceful.
00:14:20
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:14:22
Speaker 2: But Carrie's mom forbids her to go. So, Rob, what did you think of what happens at the table when they're talking about the prom?
00:14:31
Speaker 1: Refresh my memory on that part.
00:14:33
Speaker 2: Mama threw a fucking cup of tea in her face while she's in the middle of a sentence.
00:14:39
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I just contributed to the mom.
00:14:41
Speaker 3: Any scene with her, man, I'm just like, she's just fucking crazy.
00:14:44
Speaker 1: I don't know if the mom had much depth like that.
00:14:49
Speaker 3: I just looked at her as crazy. Anytime she was on screen, I'm just like, yeah, that's about right. I'm not surprised. If she could do anything at any given moment, it's just kind of how I view the mother.
00:15:01
Speaker 1: So, yeah, it just wasn't. really impactful. I just pretty much knew how the scene was going to go with her mom. Yeah, she was definitely a wild card. It was a little extra for me. Extra? Yeah, a little extra. I thought she was overly active.
00:15:15
Speaker 5: I don't, I guess it's part of the movement probably why I didn't like, she was just doing too much and I didn't have a lot of context for it other than the religious part.
00:15:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, because like, where is like, child protective services? Like, where is like, Someone has to call them.
00:15:28
Speaker 2: Huh? Someone has to call them.
00:15:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, but it's like, no one realizes like, how she's been treated in this household with her mom.
00:15:35
Speaker 1: Like, no. Yeah.
00:15:37
Speaker 2: Cause Carrie's not talking to anybody.
00:15:39
Speaker 1: I feel you, but she's like kind of slow. Yeah.
00:15:43
Speaker 2: No i didn't.
00:15:45
Speaker 5: Get that she's slow i just got that she's awkward because she.
00:15:47
Speaker 3: Doesn't have any friends all right and she's okay all right today today we know today's times we.
00:15:52
Speaker 2: Know they have diagnosis They may not have said it back then.
00:16:08
Speaker 3: She don't know what a period is. She ain't saying nothing to nobody.
00:16:15
Speaker 2: I get beat at home. She's non-verbal.
00:16:17
Speaker 3: I've never got that.
00:16:21
Speaker 2: Something's wrong with her. I've never got that. There's a word for this. It's called mental abuse.
00:16:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all I thought. Abuse. being picked on by her.
00:16:37
Speaker 4: Classmate you know the teacher don't even know her name kept calling her Cassie even after correction the teacher was making fun of her in the room and then she goes home and then you got this little punk ass kid who's doing some shit like you're too fucking young to be making fun.
00:16:56
Speaker 2: Of me creepy Gary creepy Gary.
00:16:58
Speaker 4: Get the fuck out of here I'm gonna make you fall and then you go home And then you got to deal with the mom. So you don't have any sort of support or relief. The mom is the one thing that's supposed to protect you.
00:17:11
Speaker 1: Right.
00:17:11
Speaker 4: So she's catching it everywhere. And then you're at home trying to, and your mom don't believe.
00:17:18
Speaker 1: This thing is sincere and genuine. She was right. Their intent was pure.
00:17:22
Speaker 4: But, you know, she was right to suspect that they were up to something because nobody's ever did anything.
00:17:28
Speaker 1: Good for Carrie.
00:17:29
Speaker 2: Right.
00:17:29
Speaker 4: Like her own mom locks her in a closet. And then you see when we talked about the closet, is this part of the same with the closet?
00:17:36
Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, yeah.
00:17:37
Speaker 2: Well, the closet part was earlier, but you can go ahead and.
00:17:39
Speaker 1: Talk about it.
00:17:39
Speaker 4: Okay, yeah.
00:17:39
Speaker 1: So you see in the closet, she got pictures of Jesus and pins in it. So, yeah, Carrie. It was a doll. It was like a Jesus figurine or something. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, it's a lot of like.
00:17:49
Speaker 2: A Jesus G.I. Joe. It was. I'm just saying it was a Jesus figurine. Like, I ain't never seen that like that. We'll get to that part.
00:17:58
Speaker 4: But, yeah, so anyway, so there's a lot being thrown at her. And she just discovered she got powers.
00:18:05
Speaker 2: She's got some issues, man.
00:18:06
Speaker 1: Yeah. You can call it slow. Yeah. It's a lot happening to Carrie, bro. The mom is offering no comfort.
00:18:14
Speaker 2: I thought this scene was actually really good. I get you saying she's overacting, but I've seen Christians act like this. White Christians, 100%.
00:18:25
Speaker 1: Fucking weirdos.
00:18:27
Speaker 2: But the whole part about after the blood comes the boys. And they'll be sniffing around, trying to figure out where that scent comes from. Like, this is a fucked up scene. But yeah, she's basically, she starts threatening Carrie that, you know, if you go to this prom, we're going to move. You know, if you start hanging out with, not the prom yet. Well, yeah, it is the prom part. But yeah, if you go to this prom with this boy, we're going to move. So it's clear at this point, she just doesn't want her to have anything to do with boys. It's also in this part that Carrie reveals to her mom that she has powers. And her mom claims that she's possessed by a demon. So, yeah, we also find out what happened to Carrie's dad, which is that he left with another woman.
00:19:08
Speaker 1: Shocker.
00:19:08
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:19:10
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:19:11
Speaker 1: That was like, really?
00:19:12
Speaker 2: You kind of expected that. You know what I'm saying?
00:19:14
Speaker 1: You know. Fuck, ain't nobody staying there dealing with that.
00:19:17
Speaker 2: Your whole house is crazy. Oh, shit. I could deal with one of you.
00:19:24
Speaker 1: Right.
00:19:24
Speaker 2: But my wife and my daughter is crazy. I'm like, fuck this. But yeah, we also discover that Chris and her boyfriend Billy are planning to do something terrible to Carrie at the prom. But as Carrie's getting dressed for prom, her mom is still trying to convince her not to go. So did y'all notice anything interesting with this scene? And was she right to be concerned about Carrie's dirty pillows kind of hanging out there?
00:19:49
Speaker 1: Dirty pillows. Oh, their breasts?
00:19:52
Speaker 2: I have never, I mean, well, prior to this movie, of course, I had never heard the term dirty pillows.
00:19:57
Speaker 1: Me either. Yeah.
00:19:59
Speaker 5: I hadn't heard it until you said it.
00:20:02
Speaker 1: I'm trying to think. Outside of her just showing them off.
00:20:06
Speaker 2: She wasn't really showing them off.
00:20:08
Speaker 1: Well, they kind of was prominent.
00:20:10
Speaker 2: Well, the camera was showing him off. I don't think Kerry was trying to show everybody.
00:20:13
Speaker 1: No, it was the Palmer.
00:20:14
Speaker 2: It was the Palmer's perverted ass.
00:20:16
Speaker 5: Yeah, something up with him.
00:20:18
Speaker 1: Something up with him, man. Because the Scarface shit, too, with his sister. With the sister. Yeah, something up with him. Yeah, I need to go re-watch Carlitos Way. I bet something is up, too. I bet it is. Fucking weirdo. Yeah, I can't think of anything. I remember her calling him Dirty Pillows, but I don't.
00:20:37
Speaker 4: I don't think I had a takeaway as it relates to the film at large from this.
00:20:42
Speaker 2: Anyone else notice anything interesting from the scene?
00:20:44
Speaker 1: I didn't.
00:20:45
Speaker 2: There's a couple, there's a couple of interesting things. So one, Carrie's dress, which is more of a pink, but her mom says like, you're wearing red. So of course you're wearing red because red is typically the sign of evil. Um, and she warns her in that moment. She's like, they're all going to laugh at you. You want to go to this prom, but they're all going to laugh at you. But, um, One interesting part is, do you remember the cars honking outside? And when she looks outside, did you notice what's on the ground? There was an, there was an inverted cross on the ground outside of the house. So this all plays into, is this paranoia or is this stuff like, is Carrie really possessed by a demon? So that's what they're kind of.
00:21:28
Speaker 1: And her mom thinks so. Say again. Her mom thinks she's possessed.
00:21:31
Speaker 2: Her mom thinks she's possessed by a demon because she has these powers. Um, Because at the end of that conversation, Carrie's using her powers to make her stay.
00:21:41
Speaker 1: On the bed. Oh, yeah. That shit was dope.
00:21:43
Speaker 2: And then her mom says, thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. And then it cuts to the next part really quick.
00:21:50
Speaker 1: Shit, I've never seen that fucking cross.
00:21:52
Speaker 2: If you blink, you will absolutely miss it. I only noticed it because I've watched this movie so many times.
00:21:57
Speaker 1: I've watched it a lot, too, but I've never seen the cross.
00:21:59
Speaker 2: It's on the ground, and the two cars are going like this. It looks like a parking lot separator. but it's in the shape of an upside-down cross, if you look at it. It's really interesting. At prom, we see Billie might actually be falling for Carrie, so that's where I kind of disagreed with you earlier. I think Billie was actually kind of getting into her a little bit. Them dirty pillows were speaking to them. But her bullies have hatched a plan to switch out all the ballots so that Carrie wins prom queen, but then she and Chris go up on stage to accept... I mean, sorry, not she and Chris. She and Billie go on stage to accept the award... Chris dumps a bucket of pig's blood on her head. So just this particular scene, what did you think of this?
00:22:43
Speaker 5: I had seen this before. This is the iconic scene in the movie. So yeah, I had seen this before. There was nothing fine.
00:22:51
Speaker 1: I mean, I mean. All right, man.
00:22:54
Speaker 4: Every time I watch this movie, every single time, I'm like, just run on stage and just get out of the way. I hate this part. It's so sad. I'm like, it's right there. The way she pulls on the rope and see the rope and look, and then just slowly walking.
00:23:12
Speaker 1: So messed up. Oh my God. I'm like, and then the teacher stops her.
00:23:16
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:23:17
Speaker 1: Oh my God.
00:23:17
Speaker 4: All this could have been avoided if she, oh, and then she looked under the stairs.
00:23:21
Speaker 1: I'm like, you don't have to look under the stairs. There's so many things played in my head.
00:23:25
Speaker 4: Every single time I watched this movie, I'm like, it just could have stopped her, man.
00:23:29
Speaker 1: Um, And, yeah, it's definitely iconic.
00:23:34
Speaker 4: It's probably one of the most tragic scenes in movie history, you know, for something to happen to her. But just speaking to this part, and then, you know, of course, when Billy get hit upside the head.
00:23:47
Speaker 1: Billy? Tommy. No, Tommy. Tommy, yeah.
00:23:50
Speaker 2: I might have said Billy earlier.
00:23:51
Speaker 1: No, you didn't. You didn't.
00:23:53
Speaker 4: No, you didn't. That was my mess up. Tommy getting hit upside the head, too. Yeah, all this was really, really, really tragic and could have been avoided. But every time I watch it, I do wonder if he was falling for her because he had a girl, didn't he?
00:24:08
Speaker 1: Sue was his girl, bro.
00:24:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, but he could have too.
00:24:11
Speaker 1: He probably could have, but yeah.
00:24:13
Speaker 4: I always wonder, was he really falling for her or was he really, really just playing into it and just trying to give her the time of her life?
00:24:22
Speaker 2: I don't know if he was definitely falling for her, but I think he was at least realizing like, oh, you're not that bad.
00:24:28
Speaker 1: You're actually pretty cool. You're all right.
00:24:30
Speaker 2: And you're pretty, you know.
00:24:33
Speaker 1: Why didn't she just use her powers?
00:24:35
Speaker 2: Why didn't she? Because she couldn't control him yet. She couldn't control him yet.
00:24:38
Speaker 1: She didn't.
00:24:41
Speaker 2: We're seeing that she's only, huh?
00:24:42
Speaker 1: Stopped the bucket from far away. She didn't know the bucket was there. I thought you just said she was looking. The Sue. Sue was the one. Yeah, Sue was the one that got it. But the way they did it is so dope.
00:24:54
Speaker 4: It's so tense because you see the bucket just kind of doing that. And, you know, her smiling and her walking. Like, all of this was so well done. I agree.
00:25:05
Speaker 2: I think this scene was done extremely well because they're showing how the whole plan is getting hatched. They show the ballots. They show her drop the ballots and kick them under the table. They show the shadow of the rope. Sue is following the rope up and she sees the bucket. It's really, really, really, really well done.
00:25:24
Speaker 1: The music here is good. The score was good.

But we're back to the symbol of blood, which was at the beginning of the film, you know, the symbol of blood and the red. Um, so Tommy is furious about this, but then he ends up getting bopped in the head with a bucket.
00:26:19
Speaker 1: So he passes out.
00:26:21
Speaker 2: Um, and as the kids start to laugh, Carrie hears her mom's warning of, they're all going.
00:26:25
Speaker 1: To laugh at you.
00:26:26
Speaker 2: They're all going to laugh at you.
00:26:29
Speaker 1: Over and over and over again.
00:26:31
Speaker 2: As well as the kids start chanting, plug it up, plug it up, plug it up.
00:26:35
Speaker 1: From earlier.
00:26:36
Speaker 2: This is from earlier when she was in the shower. Um, and the, the, this causes her to just start lashing out using her powers. So Rob, what'd you think of this as Carrie, wreaks havoc on these little punk-ass kids.
00:26:46
Speaker 1: Is that why they use the blood to circle back to earlier on? Yes. That's why?
00:26:51
Speaker 2: Well, that's not why the... Well, yes. Yeah, that's why they use the pig's blood to dump on her head because they just want to fuck with her. And I think that Chris probably assumes she's afraid of blood. So maybe that's why she also did it. They never really got detailed into it.
00:27:10
Speaker 1: Gotcha, yeah.
00:27:11
Speaker 2: But it's all about, you know... Blood and coming of age, you know, puberty, all that stuff.
00:27:19
Speaker 3: I guess, like, this part, like, I don't understand why she killed the coach. Because I feel like the coach was ultimately trying to help her.
00:27:31
Speaker 2: And who's the one girl that she didn't kill?
00:27:33
Speaker 1: Sue Gop. Sue got put out by Ms.
00:27:35
Speaker 2: Collins.
00:27:35
Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:27:37
Speaker 2: She killed everybody else.
00:27:38
Speaker 1: But she survived because she got put out. Yep. Oh, okay, okay, okay. Got you.
00:27:44
Speaker 3: But, yeah, the only thing about this is, like, yeah, I just didn't understand why she killed everyone. Like, yeah, yeah, especially the coach. Because I feel like the coach had her back for the most part.
00:27:55
Speaker 1: The coach did, but she had a psychotic break.
00:27:57
Speaker 4: So her mom had planted in her head, they're all going to laugh at you, and you saw it. That's what she was seeing. That's all she saw. So, yeah, it didn't matter. Everybody in that room can get it. And I don't know if she intentionally killed her. I don't know if she made that piece fall and hit her. I don't know if she just was an innocent bystander. There were a lot of innocent box centers in that room because they weren't laughing. It was only like one person laughing. Everybody else was just still kind of in shock and awe.
00:28:32
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:28:33
Speaker 2: But when it cuts to her, she sees everybody laughing.
00:28:36
Speaker 1: Including the teacher.
00:28:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, including the teacher.
00:28:38
Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:28:40
Speaker 2: So she thinks everybody in that room.
00:28:43
Speaker 1: Set her up. Right.
00:28:44
Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
00:28:45
Speaker 1: So that's why she killed the teacher. Gotcha.
00:28:47
Speaker 4: Okay.
00:28:48
Speaker 1: Because in her mind, she saw everybody. Yeah.
00:28:51
Speaker 2: That's part of that whole phrase of she saw red.
00:28:54
Speaker 1: Because if you.
00:28:56
Speaker 2: Notice, right before she kills her, she looks up at the lights and she changes the lights strictly to red. Did you notice what other color was prominent throughout a lot of this? It was red and one other color.
00:29:09
Speaker 1: Blue.
00:29:10
Speaker 2: So Billy's... Not Billy.
00:29:13
Speaker 1: Goddamn. Tommy.
00:29:14
Speaker 4: Tommy.
00:29:15
Speaker 2: Tommy's tux is blue there's this whole idea of red versus blue anger versus good good and evil yeah so did you like this scene spike yeah i liked it uh the payoff was fine as far as her killing everybody i had the same question that raw had of why she would kill the teacher but your explanation makes sense yeah she basically lost control but this is where I did see the other phallic symbols, which is funny why I didn't see it in the shower. Did y'all pick up on this other phallic symbol?
00:29:45
Speaker 1: Mm-mm. I'll just be looking for dicks.
00:29:51
Speaker 6: I keep running across the dicks and they're nutting dicks too spike is the water hose so the water hose was like a like the phallic yeah i realized oh the water hose.
00:30:02
Speaker 2: Because she's squirting i'm surprised you picked up on the showerhead squirting all over her but then she's using this very phallic symbol to squirt all because like why why would you use a water hose It's a weapon. She could throw tables at motherfuckers, but instead she's like, I'm going to squirt everybody with a water hose. She did because one girl was like... She killed her. She died from the dick. She fell on the table and died from getting squirted with a water hose.
00:30:29
Speaker 1: But yeah.
00:30:31
Speaker 2: But yeah, I always took it that Miss Collins was killed because she lost control. And that was kind of it. But the scene where the fire erupts behind her because they squirted the lights and then that fire, that scene is so... fucking dope.
00:30:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
00:30:46
Speaker 2: Still to this day, it is so dope of a scene. But yeah, I like this scene a lot. I thought it was dope. I mean, Carrie wasn't fucking around with these hoes, man. She killed everybody.
00:30:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, man. I was like, man, Carrie was probably more powerful than Jean Grey. She might be.
00:31:02
Speaker 4: She might be.
00:31:04
Speaker 2: But yeah, Miss Collins didn't need to get it like that.
00:31:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, she didn't.
00:31:08
Speaker 2: Because she even yelled Carrie's name before that thing came out and crushed her.
00:31:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
00:31:12
Speaker 2: But she was going to kill everybody in that room.
00:31:15
Speaker 1: Everybody.
00:31:15
Speaker 2: So on her way home, Billy and Chris try to run Carrie over, but Carrie causes their car to flip and catch fire, killing them both. But the wild shit is when Carrie gets home. She bathes herself upstairs to remove the blood, and then she has a talk with her mother. So not getting to all of the scene, but what did y'all think specifically about what her mom reveals to her in this moment about her father and her conception?
00:31:39
Speaker 1: Do y'all remember? Yeah, her dad left. After she got pregnant?
00:31:47
Speaker 2: Well, before that, like how she got pregnant.
00:31:51
Speaker 1: No, I don't remember the full details of that.
00:31:55
Speaker 2: So this is why she thinks she's sinned. So she's talking to Carrie about her relationship with her father and is describing how they would lay in bed together all the time and nothing would happen. But there was one time he came home and.
00:32:07
Speaker 1: He was drunk.
00:32:09
Speaker 2: And she liked the smell of it. And she let him have sex with her. And that's when Carrie was conceived. So she saw this as her giving into temptation and sin. And Carrie is the sin. And she blamed herself for all of this stuff happening.
00:32:23
Speaker 1: And Carrie ends up being a punishment for that. Yes, for that. And then she.
00:32:28
Speaker 4: Ends up having these powers which may have, even that one incident, probably led her to spiraling into the state that she's currently in now.
00:32:38
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:32:38
Speaker 2: A lot of, a lot of, like, again, not the, like, normal Christians, but, like, the weirdo Christians, they all see this, like, whole possession idea as, like, a trial and tribulations thing. Especially Catholics. Like, they have this whole, like, I forget what it's called, but they're always, like, punishing themselves, and they have this thing of, like, I am a martyr, all this weird shit. So she might have had that in her head.
00:33:06
Speaker 4: The newest Sidious movie kind of does a thing about mother to daughter sort of relationship of legacy and her, you know, passing stuff on, you know, down.
00:33:17
Speaker 2: I'm going to take your word for it because I'm not going to watch it.
00:33:20
Speaker 1: Oh, no, it wasn't a good movie, but they played on the same thing.
00:33:22
Speaker 4: So when I was watching it, you know, I was just, I missed that part of the story, but I was looking for like that sort of same thing.
00:33:32
Speaker 2: Did y'all notice her, after she washes the blood off, did you notice the color of her bathrobe? blue it was blue her bathrobe was blue so in the next scene carrie uh her mom stabs her in the back causing carrie to fall down the stairs but carrie uses her powers to kill her mother uh spike what do you think of this part.
00:33:57
Speaker 5: Yeah i'm crazy like i said my mama was crazy stabbing in the back and pushing her down it says i didn't see that coming i didn't think that her mom would do that I didn't think she was that fucking crazy.
00:34:05
Speaker 2: She warned you earlier. She said, thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
00:34:09
Speaker 1: Yeah. So that was very surprising.
00:34:11
Speaker 2: And when she walked in, all them candles and shit, I'm like, oh, this motherfucker is crazy, crazy.
00:34:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, mom was gone, bro. Because she already knew what was up once Carrie left the house to go on this thing. Yeah, no problem, son.
00:34:22
Speaker 4: Because she had been saying all the things that was going to happen. If you go, this is going to happen, et cetera. So once she left and went out there, she already knew her daughter was going to come back.
00:34:30
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:34:31
Speaker 4: Possessed or evil. And that's exactly what happened. even though it didn't go the way it does, the result, how we got there. It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters, she came back and she was crazy. And, uh, she probably don't even know what happened at the house. She just was like, you left, you went back, you sin. Now I got to kill you. And, uh, and yeah, when she reached around and stabbed, I was like, Oh shit. Well, and then it was funny.
00:34:53
Speaker 1: Cause when she fell down, it was not a lick of blood on her. And when she hit the ground, it was all, yeah. Not when she, not when she, not, no. When she hit the ground, yeah.
00:35:00
Speaker 2: No, there was blood on her back.
00:35:02
Speaker 1: I didn't see it.
00:35:03
Speaker 2: I was looking.
00:35:04
Speaker 1: I was like.
00:35:05
Speaker 2: There's blood on her back.
00:35:06
Speaker 1: Are you sure? Positive.
00:35:08
Speaker 2: There's not enough blood for a fucking backstab, but there's, you can see where she stabbed it.
00:35:13
Speaker 1: I thought it was pretty clean. And then when she hit the ground, they put the little, little blood there, but. Okay. I'll take your word for it. They put the blood on her face, but. Yeah, but. Nah, when she, yeah, when she killed the mom, which looked like the figure. Mm-hmm.
00:35:26
Speaker 4: Um. yeah she kind of just lashed out then too and then i was in and then of course felt regret but yeah.
00:35:34
Speaker 3: Did you get anything no that's that's all needs to be said about that what else needs to be.
00:35:39
Speaker 2: Said about that yes i i think that we could also discuss how she was basically crucified she.
00:35:45
Speaker 3: Talked about the actual the scene oh i thought y'all some i thought y'all still talking about uh carrie uh uh Her mother trying to kill her.
00:35:54
Speaker 1: Now you're talking about Carrie trying to kill her. You know what I'm saying?
00:35:56
Speaker 2: I'm talking about when Carrie kills her. Oh, I'm sorry.
00:35:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
00:35:59
Speaker 1: I didn't realize y'all had moved on to Carrie killing her mom. But no, yeah, yeah. The whole crucifixion thing, yeah. Yeah.
00:36:05
Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. I thought the scene where she was coming down the stairs and she did the sign of the cross with a knife was pretty fucking creepy.
00:36:11
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:36:12
Speaker 2: And she looks definitely creepy. If you were dating some girl and her mama came after you like that, you done, huh? Yes. I thought she acted her ass off in this scene. She plays a crazy ass white woman very well. But now let's talk about the prayer closet because we're approaching the end. Carrie takes the mom's dead body into the prayer closet where they both die as the house collapses. I did not know this until very recently because I always watched this movie and was just like, oh, that's a good movie. Never really thought about why they zoomed in on the Jesus statue.
00:36:49
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:36:50
Speaker 2: Until this past time, I was like, wait, why are they zooming in on the Jesus statue like this? And why does Jesus have arrows in him? Did not realize that's not Jesus. That's actually someone named Saint Sebastian. Saint Sebastian was a Christian martyr.
00:37:07
Speaker 1: Damn.
00:37:08
Speaker 2: Who, when there was the Christian persecution in 300 AD, he was tied to a tree and they shot him with arrows.
00:37:17
Speaker 1: Fake Jesus.
00:37:19
Speaker 2: He's Jesus adjacent.
00:37:20
Speaker 4: Right.
00:37:23
Speaker 2: But here's the fucked up part. He didn't die from those arrows. He was healed after that. But then he took his ass back to where they had tried to kill him before and tried to tell him that they made a mistake and they bludgeoned him to death.
00:37:37
Speaker 1: Damn.
00:37:38
Speaker 2: Here's what's interesting. The mom dies with all those knives stuck in her. So that's very similar to To St. Sebastian. Do y'all remember how Carrie died? I always thought this was a weird way to kill Carrie off until this time.
00:37:58
Speaker 1: Her dying in the closet? Yes. Burning up?
00:38:01
Speaker 2: She didn't burn up.
00:38:03
Speaker 1: Buried? Nope.
00:38:05
Speaker 2: A piece of the house falls and pops her in the head and she dies. Which is similar to what? Getting bludgeoned to death.
00:38:14
Speaker 4: Oh.
00:38:15
Speaker 2: I always thought that was so bizarre to kill her like that in the closet. Why y'all just drop a brick on her head and then she just die? And then it zooms in on that statue.
00:38:26
Speaker 1: It shows the difference.
00:38:28
Speaker 2: So the whole idea of being tortured, being a martyr, dying for basically nothing. Because that's what her mom died for. Her mom died for nothing.
00:38:37
Speaker 3: How the fuck are we supposed to know that? We're not supposed to know that. We're just supposed to look into it.
00:38:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, if you like a movie, you look it up. I just never thought about, because I just thought she was crazy. I just thought she was crazy. She put arrows in Jesus. I never thought it might not be Jesus.
00:38:53
Speaker 1: That's super detailed.
00:38:55
Speaker 3: Because everybody would assume that's Jesus, but yeah, that's a crazy detail.
00:39:00
Speaker 2: See, a lot of people, they look back at old horror movies from the 70s, 60s, 70s, and they're like, oh, they're just these stupid movies. There's nothing good. There's no nuance. There's no detail. There's no actual story. But they're wrong. A lot of these old movies, when you actually like them and you start thinking about who the director is, and especially when you relate the fact that it's fucking Stephen King, there's going to be something interesting there. You just have to figure it out. A lot of people just don't care to figure it out. because it's just crazy white girl starts killing people because you got blood dumped on her.
00:39:34
Speaker 5: And this is probably more Stephen King than Ron Paul. I was going to say, he probably explained it more in the book, too. Yeah, I never read the book. So, were you taken by the way the movie ends here?
00:39:45
Speaker 1: No, no. Alrighty, so.
00:39:48
Speaker 2: The movie basically ends with Sue. She goes to leave flowers on the spot where Carrie's house was and we see a for sale sign that's vandalized with Carrie White burns in hell. As Sue leaves the flowers, a hand comes up out of the ground and grabs her and she then wakes and we see that it's actually her mom waking Sue up from a nightmare.
00:40:11
Speaker 1: Did y'all, you're making faces. I'm sorry to you, Rod.
00:40:13
Speaker 2: What'd you think of the ending of this movie?
00:40:17
Speaker 1: I'm realizing that I didn't see that part of the movie.
00:40:20
Speaker 2: You sorry as hell, man. You turned it off.
00:40:24
Speaker 1: Once that house started burning raw, I was out of it.
00:40:28
Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
00:40:30
Speaker 1: Wow. Damn.
00:40:33
Speaker 2: Okay, cool. Ken.
00:40:35
Speaker 1: This part, yeah, I remember watching this as a kid. This part scared me, bro.
00:40:40
Speaker 2: It still made me jump.
00:40:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
00:40:42
Speaker 2: I forget about it every time. See, I forgot too. No, we watched the part. Their hands jump out like that, bro. Yeah.
00:40:49
Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
00:40:50
Speaker 2: Dang. You didn't expect that shit?
00:40:52
Speaker 1: Yep. Who's hand was it? It was a dream.
00:40:55
Speaker 2: It was like a nightmare. It's supposed to be Carrie's hand coming out of the ground.
00:40:59
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:40:59
Speaker 2: But then it's really her mom shaking her, trying to wake her up. Yeah.
00:41:04
Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I did like this part. Because I'm like, oh, shit, Carrie alive. Uh-huh.
00:41:08
Speaker 2: Carrie back, y'all. You didn't care about this either?
00:41:11
Speaker 1: I did not at all.
00:41:12
Speaker 2: God damn, Spike. Did anybody notice the cars in the back? You hated the movie?
00:41:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, I hated it.
00:41:16
Speaker 2: Oh, you legit hated it.
00:41:17
Speaker 1: Legit was like, I was like, bro. I've been trying to be quiet. Like, I legit hated this movie. I hated this. Yo, this is a classic. I do not know how. I have no idea how. this was a dream like.
00:41:31
Speaker 2: What is what is what happened this is a dream so the mom is on the phone and she's talking to someone and she's like yeah I didn't let Sue go to the funerals because she's young enough to where at some point she'll forget all the stuff that happened so we're just gonna you know kind of just move forward young enough I know that doesn't make any sense she's fucking 15 16 years old what are you talking about all of her friends died she's not gonna forget this you fucking weirdo but that's what she's saying so she's upstairs actually sleeping and then it transitions and you think it's actually another scene in real life when.
00:42:09
Speaker 3: It's not it's an image cut I don't know it's called an image cut yeah I'll take your word for it but did y'all notice the cars in the background there's two cars in the background which give which basically lets you know that this is a.
00:42:24
Speaker 1: Dream because she wrecked yeah Well, the car that... Yes. Yes.
00:42:33
Speaker 2: There's two cars.
00:42:33
Speaker 1: They're both red.
00:42:36
Speaker 2: And they're driving backwards.
00:42:39
Speaker 5: Hmm.
00:42:39
Speaker 1: So.
00:42:40
Speaker 2: I don't care. See, I wish I could go backwards and never watch this fucking movie.
00:42:44
Speaker 1: Right.
00:42:46
Speaker 2: I thought that was actually a really dope touch. It was very Nightmare on Elm Street to me. That's what I was just thinking.
00:42:50
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:42:51
Speaker 1: But.
00:42:52
Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, that's kind of it for the movie. So what are they saying with the ending? That this is trauma. That she's going to remember this. This is not something that she's just going to fucking forget.
00:43:03
Speaker 1: This is trauma.
00:43:04
Speaker 2: This girl is fucked for life. And the sad thing is she was trying to be a good person. She really was trying to help Carrie. But I think overall the movie is really just about religious extremism and how it's used to weaponized to oppress women. That's what this whole movie is about. Because even if you look at Sue, Sue was a good person. She was trying to help. But she could have just been Carrie's friend. But instead, everything is filtered through this eye and this lens of men make things better. So I'm going to tell my man to take you to this prom because No one even asked Carrie what she wanted. There was no consent ever really until Tommy pressured her into going. But it's kind of like if you look at like especially like white liberals, they don't really talk to black people about what we want.
00:44:06
Speaker 1: They just go and they just– They know what's best for us.
00:44:08
Speaker 2: They know what's best for us. And this whole movie is basically everybody is doing that to Carrie. No one really sat down to analyze and figure out what Carrie wanted except for Miss Collins, and her ass died.
00:44:20
Speaker 1: You know why?
00:44:22
Speaker 2: Huh?
00:44:22
Speaker 1: You know why? No, I don't. Why?
00:44:26
Speaker 2: Because she kind of slayed. They knew.
00:44:28
Speaker 1: They knew.
00:44:29
Speaker 2: She's not wrong.
00:44:30
Speaker 1: Trust her to make no decisions?
00:44:32
Speaker 2: We got to do this for you. She's not wrong. Everybody in the movie knew. Jesus Christ, man.
00:44:37
Speaker 1: I hate you.
00:44:41
Speaker 2: Anyway, yeah, that's really it. I do think it's really cool that they threw this whole red thing in there because I didn't mention earlier that the kids that were sabotaging her with the ballots, all of them had something red on. They had like a red hat or like a red pin or whatever. They all had something red. Yeah, man. This movie is actually pretty detailed. Yeah, yeah. If you actually like it. If you don't like it, you don't care about this guy.
00:45:07
Speaker 4: She wasn't that damn slow, Spike. She knew Tommy was on some bullshit. That's why she was like, nah.
00:45:12
Speaker 1: You know, there'd be certain areas.
00:45:15
Speaker 2: You know, they got... I'm done. I fucking hate Spike. Send all the hate mail to Spike's ass. I am Spike Lee.
00:45:23
Speaker 1: I am Spike Lee.
00:45:24
Speaker 2: Jesus Christ, man. Well, let us know what y'all thought of this film. And if you feel like it, drop some comments, maybe on Reddit, and let us know what classic horror films you want us to cover for the month of October. What other movies do you want to torture Spike with? And yeah, anybody got any final thoughts on this since y'all really had, except for Ken, y'all didn't really have any starting or middle thoughts?
00:45:52
Speaker 1: I told you my thoughts. All right.
00:45:56
Speaker 2: Still silent.
00:45:57
Speaker 4: Cool.
00:45:57
Speaker 1: All righty.
00:45:59
Speaker 2: We will be back next week with something different. But yeah, we'll see y'all next time. We're out. Peace.
00:25:30

We're out. Peace.
