There is a lot of great conversations happening about mental health in emergency services. Unfortunately some of these conversations are ignoring that the 911 calls might not be the root cause of our current challenges and fail to acknowledge that organizations play a massive part in their employee's overall wellness.
This week on the Firefighter Craftsmanship Podcast we have the honor of speaking with Battalion Chief Dena Ali and dive deep into some of the lived realities that we need to address. Dena has been a true student of the game for years and is bringing her passion around suicide prevention, mental health and building cohesive tribes to the forefront of emergency services.
In this episode we cover:
- Why psychological safety is so important
- Why having a tribe is so important to your success longterm
- How isolation impacts you and us as organizations and how to create actionable change regardless of your rank.
