Hello, everybody, and welcome to Finding Your Innergator Podcast, where we talk about discipline, relationships, and the habits that release to greatness that is already inside of you.
00:00:23.679 --> 00:00:26.800
I'm your host, RB Wright, and I am so glad that you're here.
00:00:26.879 --> 00:00:40.240
In each episode, we'll explore powerful lessons, real life stories, and practical strategies to help you live intentionally, build meaningful relationships, and unlock your full potential.
00:00:40.479 --> 00:00:46.880
But greatness isn't something you stumble into, it's something that is built every single day.
00:00:47.119 --> 00:00:52.560
So let's get started and begin the journey to finding your inner gator.
00:00:55.439 --> 00:00:57.520
Alright, hello everybody and yes.
00:00:57.759 --> 00:00:59.679
Welcome to Finding Your Innergator.
00:00:59.759 --> 00:01:05.120
This is your host, RB Wright, and I gotta tell you, like I tell you every week, I am so glad that you're here.
00:01:05.280 --> 00:01:15.599
You know, over the last uh wow, 14, 15 uh episodes, we we've talked about um the optimizing of relationships, right?
00:01:15.680 --> 00:01:17.040
And then we dug deeper.
00:01:17.280 --> 00:01:22.959
Every day you've got daily disciplines where you get clear, you act with intention, you track.
00:01:23.120 --> 00:01:24.719
If you measure it, you can manage it.
00:01:24.879 --> 00:01:29.439
If you manage it, you can improve it, but you got to know where you're at to even start.
00:01:29.599 --> 00:01:34.799
And we honed in on optimizing relationships, leveraging those relationships.
00:01:35.120 --> 00:01:42.959
No matter where you're at today, I guarantee you you got blood, sweat, and tears in everything that you do.
00:01:43.200 --> 00:01:54.480
But trust me, if you look back, there were relationships that helped you get through something that opened up doors and gave you opportunities that you were able to leverage.
00:01:54.640 --> 00:01:58.400
And I imagine that people have leveraged a relationship with you as well.
00:01:58.879 --> 00:02:03.840
And then the R, every day you've got to reset and get rest.
00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:05.680
Reflect, what did I do right?
00:02:05.840 --> 00:02:07.120
What did I do wrong?
00:02:07.280 --> 00:02:09.439
And know that every day is a battle.
00:02:09.759 --> 00:02:12.560
Every day is a battle, and you have to go back and look.
00:02:12.800 --> 00:02:14.000
Did you win the day?
00:02:14.159 --> 00:02:15.759
And if you didn't, it's okay.
00:02:15.919 --> 00:02:18.159
We're resetting and we're starting tomorrow.
00:02:18.400 --> 00:02:24.639
We've had a couple of guests on, you know, we had Alison Blanchard out of Wisconsin, Zam Monroe out of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
00:02:24.879 --> 00:02:26.159
Great stories.
00:02:26.719 --> 00:02:32.479
But I can tell you today, today to me is just a fascinating story.
00:02:32.639 --> 00:02:35.360
I've known this young man for about three and a half years.
00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:38.159
He and I actually work at the same company.
00:02:38.400 --> 00:02:45.599
Many of you know uh that I run the uh what they call Division I for Union Home Mortgage.
00:02:45.680 --> 00:02:49.120
And I had the pleasure of meeting him about three and a half years ago.
00:02:49.280 --> 00:02:52.479
And I have watched him grow and I've learned his story.
00:02:52.639 --> 00:03:00.319
And uh today he's going to share some of his story with us, uh, where he was at and where he's at today.
00:03:00.560 --> 00:03:10.639
And I think you'll be very intrigued when you start seeing the correlation of the things that we talk about and how these these same things he does daily.
00:03:10.800 --> 00:03:11.759
He does daily.
00:03:11.919 --> 00:03:14.639
So, John Langdon, John Langdon, you on?
00:03:15.520 --> 00:03:16.719
What's going on, RB?
00:03:16.800 --> 00:03:17.039
How are you?
00:03:17.680 --> 00:03:18.319
I'm good, buddy.
00:03:18.400 --> 00:03:19.439
Can you hear me all right?
00:03:19.919 --> 00:03:20.560
Yes, sir.
00:03:20.639 --> 00:03:21.120
Can you hear me?
00:03:21.280 --> 00:03:21.759
Yeah, I can.
00:03:21.840 --> 00:03:32.080
You know, one thing I like about this already is uh you got the Alabama accent, I got the North Carolina accent, so we both can understand each other in this conversation.
00:03:32.479 --> 00:03:33.120
That's right.
00:03:33.360 --> 00:03:33.919
That's awesome.
00:03:34.080 --> 00:03:36.000
So, John, here's what I want to do.
00:03:36.639 --> 00:03:55.759
If you would, um let's let's just start and we're gonna get into the daily pieces in a minute and the success you're having, but it's been just a couple minutes to to lay a foundation of um uh kind of where you work.
00:03:56.000 --> 00:03:59.599
Now you're looking this is 2026.
00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:02.240
Uh it's in the month of May.
00:04:02.479 --> 00:04:04.719
And are you 26 years old?
00:04:04.879 --> 00:04:05.599
Is that right?
00:04:06.240 --> 00:04:06.879
I'm 29.
00:04:06.960 --> 00:04:08.240
You're probably referring to Bison Games.
00:04:08.400 --> 00:04:08.800
Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:04:09.120 --> 00:04:10.000
You know what is funny?
00:04:10.080 --> 00:04:11.840
I was I was talking to him earlier.
00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:15.120
Uh 20 um 29.
00:04:15.599 --> 00:04:20.879
Still, you are below 30, brother, and you've lived a full life.
00:04:21.199 --> 00:04:26.319
So kind of tell us um, you know, uh, kind of where you were at.
00:04:26.480 --> 00:04:32.000
Tell just in in what you're comfortable with, just kind of talk about some of the struggles that you had.
00:04:32.399 --> 00:04:32.800
Yeah.
00:04:33.040 --> 00:04:37.279
Everybody's got their own stories, and uh, and everybody's been through some stuff.
00:04:37.360 --> 00:04:46.639
So I don't want to go too deep into the mess, but um, before I came to Union Home Mortgage, I was in the deepest, darkest place that anybody could possibly be.
00:04:46.720 --> 00:04:51.600
And I'll say this the Lord has restored me from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body.
00:04:51.680 --> 00:04:54.240
Uh almost lost my life to drugs and alcohol.
00:04:54.319 --> 00:05:04.240
And um, and thank God I was able to surrender my will over to him in uh in 2022, and that's around the same time that I'd come on, you know, right before I came on with Union Home Mortgage.
00:05:04.319 --> 00:05:07.360
So 2022 I didn't do but just a few loans.
00:05:07.519 --> 00:05:12.480
Um 2023, I was really bouncing back, and it was it was grow or die, right?
00:05:12.560 --> 00:05:14.720
I had to grow or or I was gonna die.
00:05:14.800 --> 00:05:23.120
And I had to grow in my faith, I had to grow in my relationships, I had to grow in business, I had to grow in every aspect that you could possibly think of in life.
00:05:23.199 --> 00:05:33.040
So 2023, I only did 14 loans, but I was bouncing back, I was getting back on my feet, and I was learning uh the culture at Union Home Mortgage, which is world class.
00:05:33.199 --> 00:05:45.360
And um and from there in 2024, I went from the 14 units I did the year before in 2024, I did 33 units, but I did pick one thing up in 2024, and that was construction of perm lending.
00:05:45.439 --> 00:05:59.360
And and when somebody goes after something, when I go after something, I'm not just gonna dip my toe in it, I'm gonna immerse myself in it, and I'm going off all the way ahead, full speed, um, and and learning it the way that I need to learn it.
00:05:59.439 --> 00:06:06.160
So I tapped into that in 2024 and closed my first construction of perm loan uh among the 33.
00:06:06.319 --> 00:06:12.959
In 2025, I closed 83 units, so huge growth, over double of growth.
00:06:13.120 --> 00:06:21.680
And then so far in 2026, I'm at 51 units year to date, and I'm licensed in several states and doing a ton of construction of perm business.
00:06:22.720 --> 00:06:29.839
Look, I'm I'm gonna tell you from the from the work standpoint, um that is that is awesome.
00:06:29.920 --> 00:06:34.160
I mean, you you talk about a 10x uh mentality.
00:06:34.399 --> 00:06:42.240
So you go from 14, two years later you're doing 83, uh, and you you said a couple of things.
00:06:42.480 --> 00:06:45.759
Um don't want to deep dive this.
00:06:46.079 --> 00:06:55.759
However, uh when we wrap up, I want to talk about uh what you're doing, uh I think foundation-wise to help help other folks.
00:06:56.160 --> 00:07:03.839
But when you say, because I just want to I want to paint a picture right bottom, which is a true statement.
00:07:04.560 --> 00:07:11.920
Um you said hey, you know, I had struggles with drug and and alcohol.
00:07:12.079 --> 00:07:21.920
The tr the truth of the matter is, and hope you don't mind me saying this, yeah, we're not talking about about hanging out at a party, having a cold beer and some weed.
00:07:22.160 --> 00:07:25.600
We're we're talking about about crack houses, meth.
00:07:25.759 --> 00:07:40.800
We're talking about uh things that will absolutely not just destroy your life, but will absolutely kill you, and it's an addiction that people do not that haven't haven't been a part of it do not understand.
00:07:40.959 --> 00:07:42.959
Is that is that a fair assessment?
00:07:43.360 --> 00:07:46.399
Oh my gosh, it it's the worst thing in the entire world.
00:07:46.480 --> 00:07:51.199
And and the thing about it is like I don't even know how I'm here other than God.
00:07:51.279 --> 00:08:05.519
I mean, God's the only way that I'm here to even tell my story, and and we will talk about the nonprofit and stuff at the end, but yeah, it was uh it was the most miserable thing that I could have possibly gone through, and I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure that nobody else goes through that.
00:08:05.680 --> 00:08:10.000
You're right, it was meth, heroin, fentanyl, but it didn't start out like that.
00:08:10.319 --> 00:08:19.360
Um it, you know, my dad was an FBI agent, and my mom was the head over community corrections, so I was like the last one that anybody would have ever thought would have been addicted to that type of stuff.
00:08:19.439 --> 00:08:26.560
But it started out, you know, seventh and eighth grade with small choices with weed and alcohol and and then ended up having surgery.
00:08:26.639 --> 00:08:48.559
And it's a similar story to many people, but the doctors prescribing me painkillers, and then from there um just going deeper and deeper and deeper into my addiction until the point where I was addicted to meth and heroin is as bad as that sounds to say, but God has allowed me to turn my shame into his glory, and I mean that's all that matters is where I'm at now and what I'm able to do with it.
00:08:48.639 --> 00:08:53.840
So I have 472 thoughts running through my head right now.
00:08:54.080 --> 00:09:02.480
And and the and the first one is you just made a you you said something very, very wise, and and we talk about on here a lot.
00:09:03.039 --> 00:09:05.120
Where we're at today.
00:09:05.759 --> 00:09:17.039
Well, you know what, where you were at yesterday um was a result of the decisions that you made uh days prior to that, right?
00:09:17.360 --> 00:09:26.320
Where you meaning when you're you said I made small decisions, choices when I was in seventh and eight grade, and that kind of put me on the path.
00:09:27.039 --> 00:09:36.639
Where you're at today, when I look back over the last three and a half years, is a result of the choices you you made then as well.
00:09:36.960 --> 00:09:54.159
And and the only thing I'm trying to say there is uh Bri Brian Tra I love to read dude, and Brian Tracy said one time that uh reputations professional, personal, uh they are a result of what we've done up to this point.
00:09:54.720 --> 00:09:57.919
But tomorrow's reputation is gonna be based on what we did today.
00:09:58.159 --> 00:10:08.879
And it's continually doing those things, taking those steps, moving in the right direction, where people don't look at John and say, Oh man, he's he's a drugie.
00:10:09.200 --> 00:10:13.279
They look at you today and say, My gosh, this guy is a rock star.
00:10:13.440 --> 00:10:18.559
He's he's helping people, he's he's got a heck of a business, beautiful family.
00:10:19.279 --> 00:10:22.480
It's based on the choices that you made.
00:10:22.639 --> 00:10:38.480
And and the thing I love about it, it doesn't matter where you're at, personally or professionally, you have to get clear and get your mind right and make the decision that you're gonna win today.
00:10:38.559 --> 00:10:40.080
Does that make sense?
00:10:40.399 --> 00:10:40.960
Oh, yeah.
00:10:41.120 --> 00:10:43.279
I mean, everything that I do is intentional.
00:10:43.440 --> 00:10:50.240
So, I mean, I did share with you a couple couple days ago, last week, about what my morning looks like.
00:10:50.559 --> 00:10:52.320
And I'm if I'm not disciplined, yeah.
00:10:52.399 --> 00:10:57.200
If I'm not disciplined in anything, RB, I'm disciplined in my morning meditation and what I do.
00:10:57.279 --> 00:11:10.960
And I I kind of go through and I put my spiritual armor on every single morning with uh prayers for you know fear, anger, resentment, sexual misconduct, um, anything, just asking that God's will in my life be done, thy will, not mine be done.
00:11:11.120 --> 00:11:13.440
And then I boom, I go out and I pursue.
00:11:13.519 --> 00:11:20.879
And if I get off track, I'll come back in and I'll I'll do the things that I need to do that's gonna earn me the business that I'm trying to build.
00:11:20.960 --> 00:11:23.840
And um, everything is relational in this business.
00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:29.519
And I think that I spend most of my time building relationships because that's where the most fruit comes from.
00:11:29.840 --> 00:11:34.159
Dude, uh you know, you know what you don't know if you just realize what you just said.
00:11:34.399 --> 00:11:48.480
Every morning I get clear, I go through, I put on my armor, I go through, and by the way, when I was with uh uh John, we were at an event and uh he shared his story very much in depth.
00:11:48.639 --> 00:11:55.440
Uh there's probably 160 people in the room, and he actually went through this is what I do every morning.
00:11:55.679 --> 00:12:01.279
And he word for word went through the prayers that he goes through every morning.
00:12:01.440 --> 00:12:04.639
And I'm sitting there looking at him thinking, man, he's getting clear.
00:12:04.799 --> 00:12:07.279
He's getting clear this morning, he's getting his head right.
00:12:07.519 --> 00:12:10.720
And then he said, Y'all you you guys just heard him say this.
00:12:10.879 --> 00:12:13.039
I didn't tell him to say any of this.
00:12:13.440 --> 00:12:15.519
He goes, but I act with intention every day.
00:12:15.840 --> 00:12:19.600
And then I track, and if I get off track, I come back and I reset.
00:12:20.159 --> 00:12:23.919
But everything I'm doing right now is because of the relationships I'm building.
00:12:25.200 --> 00:12:36.080
You know, John and I have never had an integrator conversation, but he is evidence that what we're talking about is absolutely the daily disciplines that everybody needs to have.
00:12:36.240 --> 00:12:37.200
Now tell me this.
00:12:37.360 --> 00:12:38.799
This is where I get excited.
00:12:39.039 --> 00:12:40.480
This is where I get excited.
00:12:41.519 --> 00:12:52.000
When I look at the first page first page, dude, the first page of President's Club today, you know whose name I see.
00:12:54.080 --> 00:12:54.639
What is that?
00:12:55.039 --> 00:12:55.600
Yours.
00:12:55.919 --> 00:12:57.200
I see yours, baby.
00:12:57.360 --> 00:12:58.720
I see yours on there.
00:12:59.039 --> 00:13:00.480
And and I smile.
00:13:00.799 --> 00:13:13.039
I smile because not even knowing, I even I smile even more today because I did not know your past uh until you shared it, right?
00:13:13.200 --> 00:13:14.799
I didn't know those battles.
00:13:15.200 --> 00:13:28.960
I look at it because I saw a guy that was twenty at a time of twenty-six, closing fourteen loans a month, uh just barely closing one a one a month, right?
00:13:29.440 --> 00:13:31.600
Yeah, yeah, fourteen loans a year, one one a month.
00:13:31.840 --> 00:13:32.399
Yeah, one a month.
00:13:32.559 --> 00:13:32.639
Yeah.
00:13:33.120 --> 00:13:33.440
Terrible place.
00:13:33.840 --> 00:13:37.120
And then I look at and and I mean you're trying to make a living.
00:13:37.360 --> 00:13:50.320
And then I look today, and you're you're closing close to that amount a month right now, and you haven't even hit your stride yet.
00:13:50.720 --> 00:14:01.120
And so I look at that story and I think, wow, so tell me when you look at work struggles, right?
00:14:01.360 --> 00:14:07.759
You're you're you're in the trenches, you're trying to figure it out, you're doing one loan a month.
00:14:08.240 --> 00:14:18.240
What mindset or habit changed for you to go from 14 loans a year to 51 through the first part of May?
00:14:19.200 --> 00:14:21.039
So a few things.
00:14:21.360 --> 00:14:24.320
I had to take massive action, right?
00:14:24.399 --> 00:14:33.600
And like I had said earlier, my brain is all over the place, ADHD, XYZ, but I can still take massive action and be pretty successful while doing so.
00:14:33.679 --> 00:14:50.559
So I've really had to dial in and get my systems and processes in place and invest in myself and have uh people hired onto the company, but pay their salary and uh and continue to do that and dial in through our coaching program that we have here at Union Home Mortgage.
00:14:50.639 --> 00:14:53.519
That has helped out a ton, just the accountability.
00:14:53.679 --> 00:14:56.399
But um, and it's nothing so special that I did.
00:14:56.720 --> 00:14:59.440
It's it's God that's done it for me, right?
00:14:59.600 --> 00:15:02.639
Out of self, into God, into service, and into others.
00:15:02.720 --> 00:15:05.519
And you gotta be passionate about this business.
00:15:05.679 --> 00:15:11.919
You can't, I don't just make a phone call and it's it's never mundane with me.
00:15:12.080 --> 00:15:13.840
I'm I'm intentional, like I said.
00:15:14.000 --> 00:15:22.000
I go after it, and I make people feel like this is the biggest purchase of the of their life, like it is, and that I want to be the one that helps them walk through that process.
00:15:22.159 --> 00:15:24.159
And the and again, the niche product.
00:15:24.240 --> 00:15:32.000
You know, I started out with stick built, and now I do a ton of manufactured, and that's a culture in itself, um, very hard for me to get in.
00:15:32.080 --> 00:15:41.759
It took it took a few years for me to really break into that market, but when I did, look at what it's it's it's been I I I don't even know, words get in the way.
00:15:42.080 --> 00:15:44.799
Yeah, well, let me just tell you what you what you said.
00:15:45.440 --> 00:15:56.879
Several years ago, I was reading a book by Grant Cardone, and one sentence stood out to me, and that was massive action equals massive results.
00:15:57.200 --> 00:15:59.600
Massive action equals massive results.
00:15:59.759 --> 00:16:02.240
You just you just literally just said that.
00:16:02.559 --> 00:16:12.080
Is that you knew that in order to get to where you need to be, you had to do something completely different, not changing who you are as a person, but the way that you did things.
00:16:12.559 --> 00:16:19.919
The second thing that you uh and actually the third thing you said, I'm gonna hit it second, was man, this took three years.
00:16:20.399 --> 00:16:28.559
It's taken me three years, and I'm still trying to figure it out, but I'm having success, and that's because you were consistent.
00:16:28.799 --> 00:16:31.919
You acted with intention, but you were consistent.
00:16:32.399 --> 00:16:36.000
The third thing, and I want this to come out the right way.
00:16:36.480 --> 00:16:47.519
Uh Zan and I were uh a good friend of mine, Zam Monroe and I were having a conversation last week uh about doors that open, opportunity.
00:16:48.480 --> 00:16:58.240
And you just said, hey, this God, uh if you know anything about me, I would agree with that statement.
00:16:58.960 --> 00:17:08.240
But what I also would say is this the opportunities are there that God presents.
00:17:09.119 --> 00:17:16.720
The problem is most people are either too scared to walk through the door that he just opened, or they're too blind to see it.
00:17:17.119 --> 00:17:23.119
And when I see your numbers, when I see what you're doing, you took massive action.
00:17:23.279 --> 00:17:32.000
You've been very consistent in your action, and your life is completely different, business-wise and personal, from three years ago, closing 14.
00:17:32.400 --> 00:17:42.480
Probably wondering how in the world am I going to put fuel in my car to doing doing three times that volume in the first four months of the year.
00:17:43.680 --> 00:17:53.680
And it's because you also had your eyes open, your heart where it needed to be, and when those doors opened up, you didn't just walk through it, dude.
00:17:53.839 --> 00:17:56.799
You ran through it and said, All right, we're gonna figure this out.
00:17:57.119 --> 00:18:08.319
So uh when when you say, Hey, God has done this, God has given you opportunity, but you were clear enough, open enough to see them.
00:18:08.640 --> 00:18:09.200
Make sense?
00:18:09.440 --> 00:18:09.759
Yeah.
00:18:10.000 --> 00:18:10.559
No, it does.
00:18:10.640 --> 00:18:13.519
Yeah, I had to, and he rewards all the effort that you play.
00:18:13.680 --> 00:18:22.880
So, and this doesn't matter if it's with builders, realtors, uh, personal friends, business associates, whoever it is, like I I pray for opportunity every single day.
00:18:23.039 --> 00:18:30.240
And anytime that I take and I put forth effort, some way he shows up and it's like a God link, boom, there's another opportunity.
00:18:30.559 --> 00:18:32.240
And I can't, and there's so many of them.
00:18:32.319 --> 00:18:40.400
If I just had a journal and I wrote down every single thing that that happened in my life and just the crazy, I was gonna say coincidences, but I don't believe in coincidences.
00:18:40.559 --> 00:18:43.519
There's nothing coincidental that happens in God's world.
00:18:43.599 --> 00:18:45.759
I don't believe in you know God makes mistakes either.
00:18:45.920 --> 00:18:52.480
So it's uh yeah, you you put forth the effort, and then there's more and more opportunities revealed to you every single day.
00:18:52.559 --> 00:18:58.000
Uh, you just gotta capitalize on those opportunities whenever you see them and um be intentional with them.
00:18:58.319 --> 00:19:06.559
Well, anybody who's heard me talk knows that a lot of times I've I use the phrase that what you focus on expands.
00:19:07.039 --> 00:19:20.960
And when you start people talk about the law of attraction, and I don't look uh I I struggle with that because what it says is if you put it in the universe, it's gonna come to you.
00:19:21.519 --> 00:19:41.039
What I say is if you focus on it, just like you focused on the new niche, and and it doesn't matter what your career is, when you focus on it, you begin moving forward, take that massive action, you're going to feel like that that God and the universe is just sending you all this stuff.
00:19:41.359 --> 00:19:46.160
The truth of the matter is those opportunities were always there.
00:19:46.319 --> 00:19:50.559
You're just looking through a different set of lens now, and you can see them.
00:19:50.880 --> 00:19:58.240
And so I you know, hats off for you seeing the opportunity and and going in both feet.
00:19:58.640 --> 00:20:01.119
Uh two two more thoughts for you.
00:20:01.359 --> 00:20:11.039
Number one, um your journey, and you can go down the path of personal and professional here.
00:20:11.680 --> 00:20:26.079
Um what lessons uh that that you think you've learned that people who are seeking to grow personally, professionally, what's what's the what's some lessons you've learned that they can apply?
00:20:27.680 --> 00:20:28.400
Oh man.
00:20:28.559 --> 00:20:31.039
Well, you got to get real clear about what goals you want to have.
00:20:31.200 --> 00:20:34.079
It doesn't matter if your goals are are bigger than the world, right?
00:20:34.240 --> 00:20:36.480
Because I I had zero goals.
00:20:36.640 --> 00:20:50.720
I just wanted to stay alive a few years ago, and that that was that was really the only goal I had was that I had to a little bit of, you know, I had enough of will to do whatever it takes to live, and and that's what what I had to live in at that moment in time.
00:20:50.799 --> 00:21:01.119
But but from there, um the goals you know got bigger, and it went from getting out of the draw hole four thousand dollars in in 2023 when I'd only closed 14 loans.
00:21:01.200 --> 00:21:01.440
Yeah.
00:21:01.519 --> 00:21:03.839
I mean, that makes you laugh.
00:21:07.680 --> 00:21:19.279
Well, people who are not in uh mortgage banking uh or a commission job, they don't understand that if you don't close during the pay period, you still got to get paid.
00:21:19.599 --> 00:21:22.640
But that's a prepayment on what should be coming.
00:21:22.799 --> 00:21:23.839
It's a draw.
00:21:24.079 --> 00:21:27.839
And all of a sudden it goes from$1,000 to$2,000.
00:21:28.079 --> 00:21:31.119
It's like having a credit card you can't make a minimum payment on.
00:21:31.359 --> 00:21:34.480
To be$4,000 in the hole.
00:21:34.799 --> 00:21:36.559
And three months behind on my mortgage.
00:21:36.720 --> 00:21:49.119
So not only was I four thousand, you know, so so the Lord has done it exceedingly and abundantly more than I could ever ask, think, or imagine uh possible, but I had to get real clear on what I was gonna do, right?
00:21:49.279 --> 00:21:53.279
And so I do my daily morning uh meditations and I I I cleared my head up.
00:21:53.440 --> 00:21:59.680
Then I started setting bigger goals like, hey, I want to get at least get paid up on my mortgage, and then hey, I want to get I want to get three months ahead, and then I realized.
00:22:00.480 --> 00:22:06.319
I want to start taking these loans and doing two or three a month to doing five or six a month.
00:22:06.480 --> 00:22:08.319
And so it's just multiplied from there.
00:22:08.400 --> 00:22:11.839
And then I want to get my LOA that got fired because I wasn't producing.
00:22:11.920 --> 00:22:12.960
I felt terrible about that.
00:22:13.039 --> 00:22:14.000
I want to make that right.
00:22:14.160 --> 00:22:15.519
I want to get her back on.
00:22:15.680 --> 00:22:20.720
And then, you know, it went from one thing to the next to now I want to go after builder business.
00:22:20.799 --> 00:22:21.839
How am I going to do that?
00:22:22.000 --> 00:22:38.799
And so I I went and you know, one day after the next to all the lots around or the different um building companies and tried to get in there until I finally got a shot and I walked through it and I didn't have too too much business, thank goodness, because it is a hard product product and program to learn.
00:22:38.960 --> 00:22:45.039
And uh and I walked through uh my first VA construction of permalo and I was like, wow, I live here in a military community.
00:22:45.200 --> 00:22:46.799
This is it for me, this is what I'm gonna do.
00:22:46.880 --> 00:22:50.480
I'm gonna learn this, I'm gonna be the best one around uh here doing it.
00:22:50.640 --> 00:23:00.240
And so that's what I've done, you know, and I think out of the 51 I've closed so far, probably 40 of them or so are construction loans.
00:23:00.640 --> 00:23:01.279
That's amazing.
00:23:02.480 --> 00:23:03.680
That's amazing.
00:23:03.920 --> 00:23:25.920
And it's a uh it is it's very difficult to compete against somebody uh who knows what they want, who is very, very clear, acts with that intention, and you you do a you do a great, great job of that.
00:23:26.160 --> 00:23:31.440
Now what's what's the name of the nonprofit?
00:23:32.160 --> 00:23:50.319
So the nonprofit's name is Whatever It Takes, Addiction Prevention, and the reason that I named it that is because at my lowest point in life and out of desperation uh in my dad's kitchen when I was a fully grown man, I wrote on his dry race board, Whatever it takes, I want to live.
00:23:50.400 --> 00:23:55.200
And that's exactly how I felt that moment, and that's what I apply to life every single day now.
00:23:55.359 --> 00:23:57.839
Whatever it takes, I'm gonna be successful.
00:23:58.000 --> 00:24:04.960
Whatever you know, that that's you you actually went exactly where I wanted you to because I I I knew that was the name of it.
00:24:05.279 --> 00:24:14.480
But you you just said I went to all the vacant lots, I did this, I did that, and I'm sitting there thinking, you're doing whatever it takes to win.
00:24:15.200 --> 00:24:19.839
And and that mentality, you can't lose with that, dude.
00:24:19.920 --> 00:24:20.960
You can't lose.
00:24:21.119 --> 00:24:22.880
So I I'm very proud of that.
00:24:22.960 --> 00:24:24.319
Now let's talk about this.
00:24:24.799 --> 00:24:40.559
Um we talk often here about you doing the activities, you build your business up, uh, you manage your finances, and then you're able to have an impact.
00:24:40.960 --> 00:24:56.240
One of the things that we don't talk about, uh that that I love about what you do, is you looked at your struggles, you overcame them by doing whatever it takes.
00:24:56.559 --> 00:25:03.359
But the impact now with you and your dad, talk about what the nonprofit is and and what you guys are doing.
00:25:03.519 --> 00:25:05.200
I think I think that is incredible.
00:25:05.599 --> 00:25:07.279
Yeah, no, I appreciate you bringing that up.
00:25:07.359 --> 00:25:14.480
I try to stay as humble as possible with this, and and it's taken me a long time to share with my partners and business about what I actually do.
00:25:14.720 --> 00:25:17.440
Um, but whenever I'm asked about it, I share about it.
00:25:17.519 --> 00:25:18.319
So here it is.
00:25:18.480 --> 00:25:30.640
So we've got the nonprofit called Whatever It Takes Addiction Prevention, and we exist to deliver high impact prevention programs to uh all the high schools across the state of Alabama, grade six through twelve.
00:25:30.799 --> 00:25:44.160
There is a law that was passed um 2024 called the Price Hornsby Act, and it mandates that all sixth through twelfth grade um schools have to have at least one fentanyl education prevention assembly a year.
00:25:44.319 --> 00:26:02.240
So what we do is we go, I share my experience, strength, and hope, and how little decisions ended up taking me to the deepest, darkest uh you know, points in my life, and my dad comes in and he shares from a parent's perspective how horrible it is to watch a loved one go through that.
00:26:02.559 --> 00:26:05.759
So there's the kids are captivated by it.
00:26:05.920 --> 00:26:09.759
You can hear a you can hear a pin drop in that room whenever we go and share.
00:26:09.839 --> 00:26:25.519
Like you would think that kids would be loud and um I don't know, just just not really keyed up and listening in, and they do every single time all the teachers are like, Holy cow, this, you know, this has been the most successful assembly we've had in a long time with this group of students.
00:26:25.680 --> 00:26:27.200
Like you you really got their attention.
00:26:27.279 --> 00:26:40.000
And I always, always, always have these kids walk up afterwards, and somebody will say, My brother, you know, just passed away from a fentanyl uh overdose, or my friends are starting to do this, or my my mom is battling with alcoholism.
00:26:40.079 --> 00:26:40.960
What you know, what do we do?
00:26:41.039 --> 00:26:51.279
We always direct them to the guidance counselors, but pretty much what I do is I go out and I do mortgage lending to fund the kingdom work, which is I feel like the nonprofit is the kingdom work.
00:26:51.440 --> 00:26:53.039
And uh it's it's been amazing.
00:26:53.119 --> 00:27:01.039
We've been able to talk to 20,000 students at this point in time, and we're expanding into different states, and God's just opening up door after door after door.
00:27:01.200 --> 00:27:06.960
It's like miracle after miracle, you know, and I I'm just blessed.
00:27:07.119 --> 00:27:07.359
Yeah.
00:27:07.519 --> 00:27:08.079
To say the least.
00:27:08.400 --> 00:27:17.680
And and and what I'm gonna do is in the in the show notes, I'm going to have a link to that uh nonprofit if you're good with that.
00:27:17.839 --> 00:27:20.559
Uh so folks that want to want to donate can do that.
00:27:20.880 --> 00:27:26.480
One of one of the things you cannot measure.
00:27:27.119 --> 00:27:28.160
I mean, think about it.
00:27:28.319 --> 00:27:32.319
With twenty, let's just say twenty thousand students you talk to.
00:27:33.279 --> 00:27:51.200
Um you don't know if it's one or if it's five thousand that were given the opportunity uh to make a decision and they chose the right decision because of something you said.
00:27:51.680 --> 00:27:58.240
But what I can guarantee you is they're out there and you've had an impact.
00:27:58.480 --> 00:28:08.640
Uh, and I I think it's your story is amazing, uh, where you came from, your your professional story is just as amazing, dude.
00:28:08.799 --> 00:28:09.359
I love it.
00:28:09.440 --> 00:28:10.160
I'm proud of it.
00:28:10.319 --> 00:28:11.119
You know that.
00:28:11.279 --> 00:28:15.920
Uh and and I'm excited to see where where things continue to go for you.
00:28:16.079 --> 00:28:19.119
But I just want to tell you uh thank you.
00:28:19.279 --> 00:28:23.440
And uh you never know how big of an impact you're gonna have on people listening to this.
00:28:23.519 --> 00:28:28.400
So I just want to tell you thank you for taking some time with me, and I am proud of you, dude.
00:28:28.720 --> 00:28:29.119
Thank you.
00:28:29.200 --> 00:28:32.640
I appreciate the opportunity to uh to get on here and and talk with you.
00:28:32.720 --> 00:28:33.359
It's been amazing.
00:28:33.599 --> 00:28:33.839
Yeah.
00:28:34.000 --> 00:28:35.920
And I think I'm gonna be with you next week.
00:28:36.000 --> 00:28:37.839
Are you in Charlotte next week?
00:28:38.160 --> 00:28:38.799
Yes, sir.
00:28:38.960 --> 00:28:40.240
I'm looking forward to it, brother.
00:28:40.480 --> 00:28:41.039
Looking forward to it.
00:28:41.279 --> 00:28:41.599
Yes, sir.
00:28:41.759 --> 00:28:42.240
All right, man.
00:28:42.319 --> 00:28:42.559
Thank you.
00:28:43.680 --> 00:28:45.200
All right, I'll see you up there next week.
00:28:45.359 --> 00:28:46.240
All right, buddy.
00:28:46.480 --> 00:28:46.960
Thanks.
