Speaker 1: What happens when the player gets hurt during the mock draft. Let's talk to the pros. Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Pros. This is the Fantasy Football Podcast. It is me Joey Joe Pezabia, that of course is Mike Taglier and it's you. And today we got a special edition of our mock draft series. That's right. We're using the Draft Wizard because it's magical and it gets you all the football knowledge you need and it is available for you right now over a Fantasy Pros. Go to Fantasy pros dot com slash draft Wizard to play around with the Draft Wizard. Get your mock draft on and tags. We got a great guest today. I'm very excited for the draft and I gotta tell you, you you know we are. We're in the thick of things. We are right in draft season. This is the point where it's eating up a little bit. We got a full point PPR today. We've got the two flex spots just to set the stage here for everybody. And I'm curious, you know, when you're playing in a twelve person league, which is the amount of teams we're gonna have today using the multi user Draft software. Do you like that second flex spot or do you think sometimes the one flex spot is the way to go when you're creating a league as a commissioner. The deeper the settings, the better it separates talent in terms of like the preparation that you have for a draft. And it's something that I've learned over the years because when I first started playing fantasy football, it was like, hey, if you did your research, you picked up the magazines, you were on top of the injuries and all that stuff, you were winning your leagues. It's kind of past that point now where everybody can walk into a draft simply pull up our app and go through and find rankings. You know, the guy that we have on today one of the best rankers in the business. You know, like pull off those rankings and draft off that and they're going to be set. Back in the day, we didn't have that, So you know, it's basically you just need something deeper. You need to be able to find those players in the later rounds that are going to make a difference on your fantasy squad. That's basically what it comes down to for me. So the deeper leagues the better. If you can convince your league mats to start three running backs, four wide receivers and two flex you should be doing it because, honestly, if you're putting in the research, you're putting in the time, it will pay off, all right. And our guest, as Tags was teasing about it, is one of my favorite people. And you know, I'm not supposed to that favorites, but I do. You know him from Sirius XM Fantasy. He's the host of game Day there. He's also the co host of Fantasy Feast with Ross Tucker NFL, and of course he's owner and manager director of Fantasy Points. He's the one, the only Joe Dolan. Joe, Welcome to the program, my friend, how are you today? Good morning boys. It is a dreary day here in South Carolina, which is pretty rare this time of year, but there is never a dreary day when we're doing drafts. You know, I've been sitting down on the couch and you know, we have so many different platforms we can draft on now just from our phone, like all the different sites you know, Best Ball Tens and Underdog and Draft Kings and you know, using the app and just like being able to sit down when you're watching television. One of my big things is, uh we we dv our Jeopardy And I love to catch up on Jeopardy and do like best ball drafts. That's kind of what I love to do. Um And you know, first and foremost, U, I gotta thank tags for for for he said off air, no kickers and defenses in this draft. Nobody likes drafting kickers and defenses. Like there's people who there's people who are are ardent defenders of that. And I think most hometown leagues still at least have one of the two in them, mostly defenses. But right now, when I'm drafting in July, you know, we're still like four or five weeks away from serious nut cutting time when when everybody's doing their their big drafts, nobody wants to draft kickers and defenses. Now. People want to hear about the players who are gonna win you your leagues. That's That's why I'm glad we're doing that today. I'm excited, boys, I'm I'm ready to go. I've I've been having lots of practice. I've been trying to keep myself sharp by doing drafts up until now. So let's see what happens now. I've gotten to do some shows over the years with Joe, and Joe's always one of my favorite guests, but I also love being a guest on his shows. But I'm also an ardent listener of Joe and mad On Game Day for years and years. Whenever you get in the car on Sunday and you got to do some kind of errand that is exactly what's on. So I don't miss anything going on. And I remember distinctly a moment last year, just to prove what a fan I am, because Joe Dolan had a moment that was so funny that I nearly drove my car off the road. Joe Dolan was on Tilt last year on an episode of the show. I was going to pick up some Chinese food for the kids. It was a Sunday, it didn't want to cook, it was dreary outside, and a tight end scored a touchdown for the Green Bay packer's name Dominique Daphne, and I had to go back and remember who this guy's name was, and Dominic Daphne scored a touch sham. Joe Dolan done lost his mind. Joe Dolan could not all he kept saying over and over again, was screaming the name Dominique, Daphne, not Jay Sternberger, not Robert Tunyon, Dominique, and just went on and on and Joe, I just want to know have you recovered from that moment yet? Not quite. I'm still limping. I'm do you remember you had to remember? Oh? God, yeah, because like, well, on the Game Day program, we have this little segment called sick of This, And um, what sick of This is, like we we use it in the last hour and it's a compilation of all the awful touchdowns that would scored during the day. You know, look, we're on the Game Day show for six hours. Okay, we have to entertain ourselves somehow. So like we we compile all the awful touchdowns and we intersperse it in a rejoin our producers do I I'm useless, but our producers do that. They they put all of our all of our awful touchdowns interspersed with like random yells and like cries and like my favorite one that they put in this year, uh a couple of years ago, our guy Annie Sreedhart did the Kawhi laugh. So like it would be like the Packers and how they're going and it's a touchdown by Dominique Daphne and the Kawhi laugh will come. But um, you know, look, we do this for a living, guys. It is our job to know who like the third string tight ends in the NFL are. But when a guy you've literally never heard of scores a touchdown on a Sunday, that's just like a special kind of pain. It is all right before we get into the draft, As we said, it's gonna be a full PPR draft extrospectacle for you. Two flex spots is what we've got. Tag is gonna get everything rocking for us in a second. But I want to remind everybody you can watch this draft, make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel at Fantasy Pros. So go to YouTube dot com slash Fantasy Pros to do that. You click that notifications button two, because next Tuesday we have another PPR mock draft live stream three pm, so you'll get that notification when that kicks off, just so you don't forget what's going on there. We also got a ton of great content. A lot of great content, short form and long form we've got coming at you, So make sure you subscribe to Fantasy Pros on the YouTube channel. And today we're gonna be using our multi user draft software. That's right, So go to Fantasypros dot com slash Draft Wizard and the multi user draft software. You could draft with real humans your friends, invite everybody over for a mock virtually, hang out, do some drafting, so you're not just drafting against the robots, you're also drafting against some real people too, and that's what we're gonna be doing again today, So make sure you have some human opponents and some friends in there. Go to Fantasypros dot com slash Draft Wizard, or if you have a fantasy football podcast your own's a great way to do a mock draft episode, just like we're doing today. So tags you have all the bots ready for us in the wizard and all the magic is set. I do, and I hope to God that you don't end up like next to me, because every single time I swear, Joe is stealing all my players. So we obviously click randomize and it randomize your draft position. It helps us, you know, get different feels for different parts of the draft. And we'll talk through that. It's a PPR format one quarterback to running back, three wide receivers, one tight end, two flex spots, and six bench so again making it a little bit deeper when it comes to the starting positions. Going to help there and let's see what happens. I hope I get. I hope I get like the first or second pick. That's what I'm rooting for it today. Maybe the draft wizard will be kind to me, but no, I don't know. Life has rarely been kind to you from what I've seen. You know, in the last few years, you got stuck with me as a co host every day of your life, all these things. So I also changed my team name here just so we don't get confused with the two Joe. So I am zero tags strategy. That is my team name. Joe Dolan has the six pick, and it looks like another Joe is right behind him. There are in front of tag as I should say tags at seven. I am at nine, So tags, you might have gotten the worst of all here. So the usual suspects start flying off the board Henry Kamara Barkley three four five. That puts Joe Dolan on the pick clock for number six. Joe, you're up, all right, Elliot's fine. I would have I would have maybe considered Travis Kelsey there. It's been something that I've I've in the past, I haven't really had um, a lot of uh, let's just say, I haven't had a lot of uh words, yeah, the nerves I need to draft a tight end in the first round. I haven't done that a whole lot um, but um, but I've started to come around to it. We've had some articles up on the website talking about our guy, Jeff Henderson does a Fantasy war and he actually said, look, I think Travis Kelsey was the most valuable player in Fantasy last year. And I I had a always had a very tough time, uh kind of uh reconciling that and knowing that I what I had to do to to build the rest of my roster when I draft a tight end in the first round. But other but um, I've done some drafts, some best balls with it, and I've kind of enjoyed it, to be completely honest with you, So um I've I I think Travis Kelsey's defensible there, but I do think Ezekiel Elliots due for a bounce back. All right, Tags, you went with Davanta Adams with your first pick there, I'm not surprised. We both certainly think that he is going to get closer and closer to having Aaron Rodgers back. I mean, I've been on this wagon for quite some time, so why don't you take me through your pick. I know I had to make mine, so we'll do mine back to back, So go ahead, tell me about Adams here in the first and passing on RB. Yeah, honestly, I was kind of pissed at Joe about his pick at six, even though he wasn't even like totally a board, because usually when I get picked number seven in a draft, it's almost like a lock. I'm going to get Ezekiel Elliott, and I was looking forward to that. But in a full PPR format, there was there was a tier break for me when z came off the board, because there was that first tier running backs. Then you get into the Nick Chubbs, the Naja Harris Is, the Jonathan Taylor's guys like that, and I felt like there was a tear break where I wanted to get an elite player at his position, and I'm getting that with Davanta Adams. Aaron Rodgers reportedly just came out today that he turned down an extension, which we already knew. We already knew that was the case, we just didn't know how much it was, which is fine. But the closer it gets to the season, the more likely it is that Aaron Rodgers is going to be under center for the Packers, and well, Davanta Adams is that dude all right? Now? For me, I was taking Austin Eckler, which is something I really don't do, but because the extra flex spot here, I want to make sure I really get all of my running backs kind of situated early on, and the PPR format here, obviously, Eckler does have a huge amount of value. There is hoping Chub might slip to me. He went right before me. So I end up taking Naji Harris just to stay on brand and piss tags off and keep my streak alive. Tags. You're up on the clock with two o six, all right. So this is the only problem that I have with drafting a running back or a wide receiver. In the first round, because it kind of puts you in a spot to feel like you need to take a running back in the second round. And honestly, I feel like there's gonna be some running backs I would like at the middle of the next round, but there's too big of a gap for me to wait on that to actually go through with it. So I'm looking right now at Joe Mixon, the other players on the board at wide receiver. Oh, I should probably click on him before I eight seconds. I was gonna say, you might want to make the pick and talk about Joe. Dolan had a moment there, a senior moment trying to figure out why he didn't have Kelsey on his team. But no, but it was worked it out eventually. I'll tell you what it was difficult passing up like a j. Brown is still on the board. DK Metcalf is there, justin Jefferson is there. So getting them in the second round it feels like a decent value. But at the same time, Joe Mixon is a locked in workhorse, a guy that's going to get eighteen plus touches per game. I'm good with him in the second Let's take a break from the draft to tell you about fan Tracks. Fan Tracks is the most customizable fantasy platform in the industry, offering the greatest fantasy experience for your dynasty, keeper, redraft, and bestball leagues. Fan Tracks free NFL Fantasy Football League Manager is the most customizable, easy to use, and feature rich platform in the industry coming from another service. Fan Tracks can import any of your current leagues and customize them if needed. Fantasy Sports says in sleep, and neither does fan Tracks, with seasons running three hundred and sixty five days a year. Seriously, the most customizable settings are bar none. I've used it myself for lots of cool super flex leagues, lots of cool wrinkles, lots of cool scoring stuff that you can do there that you just can't do anywhere. So they have literally hundreds of customized scoring options, team structures, custom playoff settings, you name it, they've got it. But they've also got the simpler standard leagues that you'll find at Yahoo and ESPN two. They got that. Also. There's a reason why people stay at fan tracks once they've tried it, because it's great and they make it their permanent home for their fantasy league. Sign up today for free and you could be entered to win assigned Josh Allen Jersey, simply go to fantracks dot com slash Fantasy Pros and sign up today. Again, that's fantracks dot com slash Fantasy Pros, fan Tracks, the home of fantasy sports, Hopkins and Mixing. Go next, Joe Dolan. At two seven, you are on the clock and you already have Elliot on the seconds. I have to make a pick here. Now I have a running back on the board in cam Akers do I have rated as a first round pick? And I again I'm sitting here where now looking at what the board is doing. I really wish I had Kelsey on this team because if I could have started my team Kelsey Acres, I think that's nominal. I'm gonna draft Acres. I had some consideration for down Darren Waller here, but I just think draft I just think Acres just gives gives my team a potential Bellcal in the second round. I legitimately think he's a first round pick, but so at two seven, I think it's a ridiculous value. All Right, Waller went three two three three was mclaurain, Michael Thomas, Keenan Allen back to Joe Dolan. Joe, before Joe, you make this pick. While you contemplated, I want to ask you guys what you guys think about Team one strategy because this is something that people have asked me before, where they basically they're getting number one players at each position, damn position scarcity everything. So they took Christian McCaffrey and then it came back in two three and took Patrick Molomes and George Kittle. Now is that the right thing to do? Do you guys think that that's a viable strategy because you're getting three studs with your first three picks, and then from there you're gonna kind of have to fill out wide receiver and running back. Dolan, you got fifteen seconds for your pick. I'm taking Allen Robinson, by the way, who was he was an autodraft for me in the third round last year. It were worked out and I think they've improved at quarterback. To answer your question, tags that strategy is not for me. I'm not like, I never want to disparage like somebody's strategy. Like if if somebody on Twitter is like, man, I really think you should stack Mahomes and Kelsey this year or stack Hill and Mahomes and really make sure all of your draft capitals invested in those number one kind of players. I just don't like how my teams look personally. And maybe that's a me problem, not necessarily a strategy problem. But no, I wouldn't doing that, especially given and I know with injuries and all that, but Kittles his injury problems are a little concerning to me. I don't know if I would have done that particular strategy. But well, we'll see what the team looks like, because you're going to have some grand Barfield calls it not zero RB, calls it hero RB, where you kind of have one and then you fill in the rest of the parts. I'm interested to see what that team does look like though. All right, tags, you are on the clock. You took Clyde Edwards Lair. What you gotta be loving because that's your dude. You got the third round, so I'm sure you're thrilled with that. DeAndre Swift goes next, which puts me on the clock. So I'm gonna take Cede Lamb here with this pick, and I'm gonna tell you what text for me that strategy works. I don't like it what the Titan. As much you like with the big wide receiver, you give me the Christian McCaffrey, Mahomes or you know, wherever you think is the top quarterback, if you think it's Allen and then a top wide receiver. That grouping I like more than the tight end grouping because it's not gonna be George kill I mean, it's not gonna be excuse me, Travis Kelsey. He's not gonna last that long. Obviously. Kittle's the one that I still don't feel like he is quite close enough to those other two guys. Waller's another one too, where I'd rather just have the big wide receiver if I could. If A. J. Brown's up there, DK Metcalf, Calvin Ridley, one of those guys. Actually do like that because then the ward kind of comes to you and you can just kind of do BPA after that. At those positions. Back to me, and I'm going to double up again. This is the double tap once again we like to do this year. Why I take another wide receiver. Probably I'm gonna just look at the running backboard to you as well, see who is available. It's hard to pass on. Julio Jones here. But with all these flex spots too, Chris Carson's very tempting to me. I think I'm gonna go and take another running back because you just can't have enough of them. I'm gonna wait a little bit more on a wide receiver since it is the PPR format, and I think I can make up some ground. We'll see if I'm right or wrong as the draft unfolds. Tags that put you back on the clock. If you want to talk about h in the next bick, you're gonna be Joey p thank you for giving me Julio the fourth round of honestly, like, just say it out loud, Julio Jones in the fourth round. It's stupid, it's stupid. It's it's it's stupid. But I'm making a choice here. I want to show what the board looks like if you do the three out of four running backs and just take care of business, because we know the cliff is here. This is the cliff here at running back. Yeah, there's definitely a cliff. I fortunately I grabbed two of them, getting Clyde Edwards a laryon Joe Mixon in the last couple of rounds, so I felt a lot better about that, Especially when you start with a wide receiver, you rarely feel great about your two running backs after that because they typically fly off the board. But this being a PPR format, wide receivers came off a little bit and it allowed me to get those two guys. UM. But yeah, I mean Julio Jones in the fourth round as my number two wide receiver, while I have two running backs I'm comfortable with, while I have DeVante Adams, I'm happy about it. Julio is still a top ten guy for me. Joe Dolan, you are now up next year. You made your pick and you got a second one coming up here in the fifth round, so take us through your picks. Well, so I took Fonta Johnson in the fourth round, and now I'm looking at the board and I'm and I'm realizing why I would have liked to take Kelsey here. Maybe I even should as as highly as I have Acres rated, Maybe I should have taken a wide receiver in the second round because there were still some running backs here in that fourth round. Who I you know, I think you can go to war with as your number two running back, Miles Sanders, David Montgomery, UM you know you. You said you you were talking about Chris Carson. So there were some running backs there in that fourth round, and I've been surprised to see how many of them are dropping to that fourth round. Who I feel pretty comfortable with. They have their rewards, but I feel pretty comfortable with them as my number two running backs. So maybe I would have gone back and done something a little bit differently. Now I'm up here in the fifth round, and I made my favorite fifth round pick. I took Lamar Jackson, a guy that we all think is here on this show at least, dropping too far. I love getting the elite quarterbacks. I'm usually willing to do that, and I'm also somebody who usually in PPR will go for the two wide receivers when I'm down lower in that draft. But nine is right in that kind of weird place like I'm ten, eleven, twelve. I love doing that. But at nine, I feel like you got to get that running back. There's still some value there now tags you are on the clock. I know Lamar is somebody you had your eye on that's not available. You're welcome. I want to do something nice for you, giving you Julio Jones I knew what I was doing. You've been so miserable on every one of these draft shows with me because I take all the guys that you want. That's because great minds think alike. So you got fifteen seconds? Are you going with now? At five os? So there's clearly a t There's still a tier wide receivers that I'm comfortable with. And Travis Etn is someone that I know that is not gonna last because you have two picks and my next run. So in a PPR format, even if he's not getting the bulk of the carries, which I by the way, I do think he is going to a lot of people are worried about Travis Etn. They're still drafting James Robinson has an higher ADP than than Travis Etn, which blows my mind. Um, you know, I don't really care what James Robinson did last year. It doesn't matter because it's a new coaching staff, new offensive play caller. They decided they wanted to go out and draft Travis Etm in the first round despite having a lot of different needs on that roster. So it tells you just how much they valued Etn. Obviously, Trevor Lawrence is gonna want him out by his side. And again, even if he's not used as much as I think he's going to be on the ground, he's going to be heavily utilized in the passing game in a PPR format as my first flex. I'm happy about ETM there. Yeah, I love ETM, especially in that format. And you're right, how'd you let him go? He probably would not have been back to you. I'm gonna go exactly where I wanted to go next. I was hoping to guys. News broke just like I was going to break him pick. All right, well, I'll let you do that. Go ahead, oaking it. We're not live right now. All right, let me break it with my next pick, because I'm gonna pick somebody who's gonna come off the board before then, just so you know, Oh, no, screw you. Well, I can only assume the news is Aaron Rodgers related. No, it's bad. It's it's it's a borderline first round pick that's gonna be out for the year. No, wow, who? All right, Well, geez, don't tell me, guys, because I'm just hosting the show and doing five thousand things. Don't don't help me. Out with my draft. Now, I'm not fine. All's fire and love and fantasy football, man percent right. I don't know about I'm about love, but it's all's fair and fantasy football, all right. I am up next year with some other wide receivers still on the board. But you know what, I'm gonna go a little bit here with the quarterback that I feel comfortable with that last one after Dak just went so, I'm gonna go ahead and take Russell Wilson here. And I'm happy here because I got Te Higgins as my other wide receiver, pairing him together with Ceedee Lamb. I like that as a one too. I feel okay about my receivers. I got my QB. I'm feeling okay. So let's take another quick break from the draft to tell you about Pristine auction dot Com. Tags Odell Beckham goes after I make that pick who I was thinking about, But you know me, I just can't get there, tags six six you're on the board. Honestly, I'm looking at it. I was gonna go wide receiver. I was looking at Odell Beckham, but he went off the pick right before me. So I what I'm gonna do? I'm not gonna screw you over, Joe. I'm gonna let you get your guy. I'll let you. I'll let you break the news and explain your pick because everybody's gonna be like, why did that happen? All right? So I'm going to actually take another running back though, and one that again is a second flex and a PPR fort Mike Davis. There is nobody else that roster. There's none. When you talk about Atlanta, we talk about Mike Davis. That's about it. Everybody's asking about Javian Hawkins. Does he make a difference, does he contribute it all? But we don't know in the end. Mike Davis, Arthur Smith, all that stuff. A solid offensive line in Atlanta too. I don't think they're a bad offensive line at all. So getting him in the sixth round is a quality running back that I'm gonna be starting every week. I feel confident in that one. All right, Joe Dolan, go ahead, You're not really breaking the news because this is gonna air like hours from now. But yeah, but at least give that feeling because I know your excitement levels. Oh no, it's not I'm not excited at all to say it. I just took Darryl Henderson in the sixth round, which is not gonna happen anymore, guys, because cam Akers just stories Achilles Um. I just in that now, and you know what sucks? You know me, Joe, I gotta tell you. You know, Tags has been on the Darryl Henderson train, and I have so many best ball shares. I have him in SFB eleven for doing so many shows here with Tags too, because he's made a lot of points here. But my goodness, Joe Dolan, that is a huge change. It's just it sucks. I mean, like, like you know, you talked about Zoh by the way, I just took Tyler Boyd in the seventh round. You talk, you talk about zero RB and like you understand, like why people do it? Why Darryl Henderson, Why why Tony Pollard, Why Alexander Madison are such like quote unquote good because they have this massive upside and they're not. But I mean, for it to happen now, like come on, well, the only good thing is honestly, the good thing about it happening now. For it from a fancy prospective, it's not good for the players, terrible, But the good thing now is we have so much time to prepair now for it. Whereas we all know the hotbed most drafts take place in the last couple of weeks August, first week is September, where that is always crushing. When you have an investment in a big time player like Acres who has a low first round grade, that's the worst. And you know somebody just drafted Henderson on a lark, thinking what if that happens? But now no Malcolm Brown there, you have Henderson there. Really does open up a lot. And if you had any early shares in best Ball of Darryl Henderson or in early drafts, my goodness would have changed that. Tags you want to you want to chime in here too with your pick and your thoughts on this. Oh I did? I mean, I went with Dallas Goddard and I just feel like it's he's like the last of the tight ends that I feel like drafting, because if I missed out on Goddard, I was going to be waiting and do like a platooning situation. Grab two tight ends later in the draft, and I hope one of them pans out as a breakout, and if not, then I just stream every single week it's it's not like you're you're risking anything in the seventh round, Goddard, I'm assuming that zach Ertz is going to be gone. I can't say for certain, but Joe, you're hopefully making it. Oh, I'm sorry. I was so entranced by your thoughts. I just I forgot I was even on the clock. Did you get the guy I did? I got Jerry Judy. Okay, I'm perfectly happy with any worry about now. I got a question for you too, both of you guys, with this news breaking, where would you put Darryl Henderson from the draft? Stop, Joe, I mean he went the seventh round right now. Part of the reason, guys, that part of the reason that cam Makers was slipping out of the first round is because people are like, well, they could use Darryl Henderson. Well, Darryl Henderson now obstensibly has that kind of full role, right, I mean he's gonna be a first round pick, Like, I mean, do you think a first round pick? I think there's gonna be that top sixteen. So you would take him over David Montgomery, you would take I'm trying to like think of like the tier. I mean, well, when you when you when you think about the offense, and I mean like when we draft running backs, like we of course we love talent, we love talent, but volume is King's challenging him for for for snaps here, I mean, they have Jake Funk, the rookie had who's a freak athlete. By the way, also one of the best spoonerisms in the NFL at fake junk. Uh. But but uh, I mean, are they gonna sign Todd Gurley? Like? Uh? And then by the way, girl's toast so like even if they do sign him, like, oh man, just that is just a nightmare. I mean, I feel I feel all from for cam Akers above all, Like just Joe, I'll let you think about your pick here, tags is gonna go through your pick. I took back to back wide receivers there. I took Jerry Judy and your boy Mike Williams uh and then Melvin Gordon went next. Corey Davis, you took those are the two guys who go back and forth and the end of the day, I took the guy attached with the better quarterback. That's what I did. Take me through your pick there, Corey Davis, because we just talked about him on yesterday show. We did, and it's more like just getting a number one wide receiver for his team, a guy that's probably gonna command, you know, at least one hundred targets. Corey Davis obviously extremely efficient last year. A team that doesn't have a run game, gonna be throwing the ball quite a bit, and he's just he's gonna play that go to role. He's gonna be the guy that leads a team in targets. So getting him in the eighth round as my wide receiver three to pair with Davante Adams and Julio Jones, just getting a safe player there. I have a plenty of upside on my roster, just some stability as the wide receiver three, and then you know, as the draft progresses, I'm able to take some upside shots with some other Joe Dolan taking Marky's Brown eight oh seven. After that, we had a little run of some tight ends and it goes back to Joe Dolan who actually took one of those tight ends. And Logan Thomas, Yeah, Logan Thomas, m'm I'm in on Logan Thomas. Um. I just feel like Ryan Fitzpatrick's gonna Pepper him with targets. Some people disagree with me, but in the ninth round, I need a tight end. I think for a guy who was, like, what the number two or number three overall tight end last year, I think that's a hell of a value. All right. That puts Tags back on the clock right now, and Tags, who's your selection? It's Michael Gallup. And I'm doing this because I'm not a huge like. I like Michael Gallup the player, I just don't like. The situation is just there's so many mouths to feed there in Dallas that it's really tough for to trust him on a weekly basis. Fortunately, I drafted him as my wide receiver four, so he's on the bench and I can kind of pick and choose my battles. But part of this comes back to Amari Cooper, you know, dealing apparently having some sort of surgery this offseason. It's been a little hush hush where they don't know if he's gonna be ready at the start of training camp, which again this leads me to think that maybe Cooper misses some games and Michael Gallop with Dak Prescott back under center, there's gonna be some big weeks in there. So if I can look at the schedule and say, hey, there's there's gonna be a shootout with the Dallas Cowboys in this coming week, I can play him over someone like Corey Davis. All right, fair enough. That puts me back on the clock. I'm gonna go for some more running back death because you could just never have enough of them. I'm gonna go with playoff Lenny, give me Leonard Fournette. Maybe just maybe it's all for real. Maybe it's not. I don't care. I'm gonna take a shot on it anyway. A bunch of other running backs went off, including Damian Harris, Michael Cargo, Ronald Jones. I was hoping one of those guys would make it back to me. None of them did, so now it's time to pivot. In the words of Ross from Friends, looking at the wide receiver board, Mikole Hartman, a guy we talked about yesterday, kind of being around there. Jalen Raiger, if you believe in him, could go old man t Y Hilton as well. This is kind of that tough bart. Here we all hit a wall. I'm gonna go just take a flyer here on Kenyan Drake again. I just want more running back depth there. And if God forbid there's injury to Josh Jacobs, at least I know Drake is somebody that could really work himself in there to that lead back role. So depth here at nine to ten is what I'm looking for. I'll figure out some more wide receivers or some other names late I'm looking at. We're talking now with Tags up Rugs goes with the next pick. So Tags, you got your quarterback at ten h six with Ryan Tannehill. Very nice value, i'd say tane Hill. I mean Tannehill in a tenth round. I'm good with that. Usually it's like it's usually someone like Lamar Jackson or Bust kind of just like waiting at quarterback. But getting Ryan tan Hill. He's my number seven quarterback this year. And I know some people might be like, WHOA, that's a little bit high, but if you actually look at it, since he became the Titans starter in Week seven of twenty nineteen, he has been the number three fantasy quarterback, behind only Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. So stop hating on him. And now you add Julio Jones to replace Corey Davis, which is certainly by no means a downgrade. We also have a new offensive coordinator, that coordinator that's likely to throw the ball a bit more. Ryan Tannehill has been really good. Um stopped doubting him. That's that's my advice. Everybody stopped doubting Ryan Tannehill. Joe Dolan continues the trend with the backup running backs or tandem running backs here because you took James Conner. Yeah, and I don't love James Connor, but guys, I mean, my entire team got nuked during the draft, so I have to I have to try to do something at the running back position to try to get some upside here. Kenyan Drake's vacating two hundred and sixty four touches. Now. I think the best bet is Chase Edmonds. But James Connor in the past has been a great uh bell cal running back. He just needs to stay on the field. And you know, considering the fact that I lost Cam Akers during the draft, I hope Ezekiel Elliott has one eye open wherever he is. I just took Tony Bollard. Well, yeah, you've got the insurance. And what I mean, really the fact that we started this and the news broke what like, I don't know, five minutes after That's that is that's what we call the worst luck. I similar to I believe the Flexi a couple of years ago, where I drafted Andrew Luck. If you recall, we were all hanging out in that room together Joe and went home and Andrew Luck retired later that evening and I went, Wow, well look at that, isn't that an interesting So I think we all have a story like that. This is my latest one, but I remember, like Ricky Williams like being one of my first fantasy picks ever, and then he retired and I've never recovered from that. Uh yeah. Tags You're staying on brand here with Elijah Moore and you're never ending love of Jets wide receivers during Shepherd goes next year at eleven o eight. That puts me back on the clock. And the guy that I was gone to playing still there and I know he's old, but maybe you got one more good riding to the sunset with t Y Hilton. I mean, he's like my fourth or he's my fifth wide receiver here. Let's see what's going on here, just continuing to build some depth. I'm gonna go ahead and take another guy too that I've been talking quite a bit about that. I like him late. You know, Russell Gage is out there, John Brown's out there. I don't know why, I just can't seem to quit John Brown. So I'm gonna go ahead and take John Brown here and we'll see what happens there in Las Vegas. I just like the talent better than what else is out there, and I just think he's going to jail with Derek Carr. That puts Tags back on the clock. Is sicky was taken John who Smith went right before me. Had Johnny Smith been available, I probably would have gone that route, but alas it was not meant to be. The bots are tough here. The draft wizard is very tough nut to crack. So Tags, who's your pick? You know what's funny is I actually looked last round and I noticed on the draft board. I was like, hey, where the hell is Rashot Baban? And he's gone. That team at number pick number one took him at the top of the ninth round. So kudos to the bots here there obviously taking care of the sleepers that I wanted to grab. But Latavius Murray's can be my pick, just adding a little bit of death. I think this is probably the last running back I feel I need to take, with Mixon, Clyde Edwards, Hilaire Etn, Mike Davis, and then Latavius Murray obviously an elite handcuff and a guy that might have some value. If Taysom Hill is the starter, this team is going to run the ball a lot more than they have in years pass So Latavius Murray offers me a little bit of bye week emergency value, but at the same time could offer me a little bit of RB one upside if something should happen to Kamara, Joe Dolan thirteen oh six year on the clock, Coleman gained well and Giovanni Bernard going right before you. Okay, so gain well then early yeah, yeah, I'm let's let's see if who's Tony Pollard's back up, just in case I took I took Russell Gage in the last round. That's you know, it's kind of a boring pick, but I think I think in redraft he's one of those guys where you can kind of expect that he's going to get you ten points in epr um. Let's go oh okay, uh, I'm gonna draft Tyler Higby. Um, just as a potential flex option. Um, he is getting some buzz obviously. I think the Ram offense now, UM, they've got to answer some questions. Uh so now I have Tyler Higby to go with Logan Thomas. This was a situation where I just thought I'd drafted the best player on the board, quite frankly, and there's nothing wrong with that too. Tags. I know you are up next, but I also want to ask you text, do you think that you'll see the Rams make a move here too? For running back depth. I mean, we already know. We talked about some of the guys in the waiver wire, but maybe there's a deal to be made, possibly for the Rams too. I don't know if there's a deal. I don't think they don't have They trade away picks like they're candy. Um, But honestly, I don't think they have the equity to do it. They could probably find a running back. It could be Levy on Belling. To be honest with you, UM, Sean mcda is out there if he knows the offense. Duke Johnson's out there. That was Duke Johnson. M A, he's not. I can't do it again, man, yeah, it's Look, I think Henderson's the guy. I mean, like, I mean there's that like sometimes you gotta sit down and look at Okham's razor. Henderson's the guy. I mean, he knows the offense. He Um. He actually was the more valuable fantasy back, not that either one was terribly valuable um for the first half of the season last year among him and Cam Akers. He's just he's gonna be the guy guys, I mean, and we'll see. They're gonna have to sign somebody, but I don't know if somebody are gonna add hot too. I think maybe that's what they do. Maybe they wait for somebody to get cut, try to just have some work death because definitely depth. Maybe Royce Freeman. Maybe they can get Royce Freeman for like nothing, somebody like that. Well here here's the fun thing too, I don't know how many running backs San Francisco's gonna go into the season with. Somebody could get jos in there potentially, I know, you said, what Chefy Wilson hurt. That's less likely. I don't know, with the cap space and things like that. They might just do it anyway. We'll see, but who knows. Maybe one of the guys with the Texans, they only have five thousand running backs too. Maybe somebody there gets let loose. Speaking of running backs, just gonna take another one here, because again you can't have enough. So I'll take Marlon Mack here because I know Tags just as he loves Jonathan Taylor so much. So I'm gonna make sure I have a little hedge of that bet there. Just for depth. Again, just the injuries. Have we not learned something from this draft? Where Cam Akers is hurt and it is July twentieth, It's just part of the deal. Tags, Benny Snell goes next, you are on the clock for fourteen oh six. All right, I'm gonna make a surprising pick here and one that I haven't made yet. But I'm not going to risk the fact that Joe read my Twitter today or something like that. But so, what I said was that this player did not become a starter until Week seven. He had a quarterback who three eight touchdowns all season, none of which were to him. Still finished as the wide receiver twenty four from Week seven through seventeen, currently going undrafted, but Jacoby Myers just might be Jolian Edelman's replacement in New England. I love you, so, Jacoby Myers Lea. I've been drafting to Kobe Myers an utter Ton in Best Ball, So I think that's a great pick. I'm gonna go. I'm just going, I'm just going all upside here, and I'm gonna draft rondel More just in the event that the Cardinals have some sort of kind of role cooked up for him. Obviously there's no uh, there's no Larry Fitzgerald as of right now, there's no Larry Fitzgerald. So I'm gonna take him. Um, and let's see here, I've got I've got a pick coming up. Yeah, one of my favorite wide receivers Lake went off the board there, Gabriel Davis at fifteen oh five. I think that's a tremendous potential bargain there. Fifteen o six. Is you Joe Dolan, You're on the clock. Yeah. I have Lamar Jackson and this is a redraft, so I don't feel like I need a backup quarterback. Um. Uh, let's see here. Uh maybe I could maybe I could get another running back on here. Not that you feel great about anybody who's coming off the board. Now, let's see. Well, since since I got my team nuked by an in room. I'm just going to end up drafting. I'm just gonna end up drafting running backs who would be in line in case somebody else's team gets nuked. Darrenton Evans, all right, there you go. I like, back up, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Let's go. So Evans goes to Joe Dolan that puts tags on the clock for fifteen knows. I feel like I should take the trifect and just take Denzel Mims just to do it. I was waiting for it. I mean to say it, but I'm not gonna do it for I'm gonna take a player that I'm gonna find out immediately what I have with him, and it's Brian Edwards. Bryan Edwards was supposed to be the guy. You know, they obviously loved him going in last year into the draft. Last year. Took him, but before I thought he'd come off the board. Derek Carr said, it reminds he reminds him of of Davante Adams, which is quite the comparison. I'm not going to go there, but clearly this team doesn't know how to use Henry Ruggs hunter. Renfrow is never going to be the guy. You know, if Darren Waller is gonna lose a target to anybody, it's gonna be the only notable wide receiver on this team that's over six feet tall. So I'm gonna go with Brian Edwards here. Yeah, not a fan, I mean, I just I don't know why we keep trying to make this happen. I don't know why. That's why I took John Brown. All the things you just said, I go, yeah, uh huh, that equals John Brown to me in that equation. Well, John Brown has to stay on the field too. That's a probably understand I understand. But as my sixth or a sixth or you know, way seventh wide receiver on a team, like what do you do? Like you know, you could do far worse and most bye weeks that you get, um, you know what again, just bpa, what if this guy becomes transcendent and it's crazy and it allows me a little trade leverage later in the season, I will take the other quarterback and I'll take Trevor Lawrence with my last pick, just to see Draft Wizard grades. It gives me a bee the Draft Wizard always is like a bee for me. It's like, yeah, B maybe B plus on a good day. It always loves tags, way more tags. What's your grade? No, I gotta be as well? What was yours? What was your actual grade? Uh? What? It was one higher than whatever you get? Mine's an eighty six out of one hundred, so it's an eighty three, So I'm three less than you. So did Joe meet us both? Oh? God, no, I got a d. I took Darryl Henderson. So that's something that that's something that needs to be addressed though, because basically it literally happened during this drab. Yeah, once the rankings are adjusted, because this takes what the grade comes from. It doesn't come from me, It doesn't come from Joe, doesn't come from any of us. It comes from all ninety eight experts that we have in the database that basically we look at their rankings compared to your team, and then it grades your team. So therefore, Darrell Henderson has not been updated by analysts just yet, and once he is, that will obviously change the grade. But losing your first round pick is going to destroy you all kinds of all kinds of um of analysis that I've just been perusing Twitter. Um, I think people have them everywhere. Some people have them as like a top twenty overall pick. Some people have him as like RB eighteen. You know, so I think the industry when something like this happens, the industry, it takes a while guys to kind of coalesce, and like, you know how it is that like we all have our preferences, but like the industry is so tight and there's so many good minds that, like I think, like ADP and rankings in ways, especially towards the top of the board, start to coalesce. And it hasn't happened yet with Daryl Henderson. It's gonna take some time, but it's gonna be interesting to see what kind of range he ends up in. This just sucks for cam Akers. I mean it does. You know, Like the one thing that I loved about not having preseason football last year was less ants that like, you know, some some young player and like just players in general to get hurt. Um. But you know, for our game, you know somebody who you spent your entire offseason analyzing and saying, I think this guy's gonna break out, and I have him as a top fifteen pick, and then he goes down in a meaningless game. I mean cam Akers though, going down in training you know, it's not even training camp yet. Man, I just feel awful for him. You know. It's it's a it's a position where people just it's a position that teams really just kind of usher out the door as soon as they possibly can because of because of the business aspect, and you know, coming back from an achilles is now the technology is so much better now, the medicine is so much better. But look at that list of running backs who have suffered one. No, it's it's it. That was my point. Joe, I thought the same thing. It's it's not it's not like the ACL necessarily, it's something that you haven't seen as You're right, it's getting better, was it. Who's a Emmanuel Sanders a couple of years ago. Mary Thomas actually had one at the beginning of his career and he turned in a fantastic career. But the running back position in general, I mean, that's an injury that has ruined careers tags. You know. Joe brings up an interesting point about the coalescing of the industry, which I think is a positive and a negative because sometimes even though the great minds all coalesce, I think it's very important to kind of not lose your own voice in there. And it's interesting because we're voices, whether we like it or not, in that same industry. I don't necessarily just as much as I love the Rams offense and as much as I have great respect for McVeigh and I think Stafford is going to be fantastic, I'm not necessarily annointing Darryl Henderson into a first round pick. I'm just not there yet. Is that high end RB two conversation we could talk about that. I'm still gonna take Chris Carson first. I'm still gonna take mix In over him. Still Gonnaknajay Harris over him. You know me, I'm gonna take Montgomery. You'll yell at me. That's fine. But where do you kind of hot take in your head right now before everybody else coalesces. I think it's a great conversation because Joe said it, we haven't coalesced yet before that happens. Your immediate take on Darryl Henderson value. Honestly, I think he belongs in the conversation with guys like Antonio Gibson, Chris Carson, JK. Dobbins, because I'm curious as to who they're going to bring in. I think that there's no chance that they walk into the season with just Daryl Henderson and Jake Funk or whoever it is the depth chart behind him. I don't see that being the case I'm anticipating in adding someone. But still, Darrell Henderson is going to be the guy in this offense, so he should be drafted as is. At the very least, he should be drafted as a solid RB two. I can see the RB one upside because this offense should score many more points with Matthew Stafford under center. And believe it or not, Guys, if you liked Cam Akers, you should like Daryl Henderson. And the reason I say that is because Darryl Henderson, if you were to put his number side by side with Cam Akers last year, he was better in a lot of ways. When it came to the Buffalo game stood out too. If you recall that one. Remember that game, well, you know, if you look at all metrics I'm talking about, not even just one single like I think the the eye test matters too, you know, the metrics are important, but you got to see it on the field also, because you know sometimes the stats, you know, you could always find the stat to eventually fit your narrative. Well, you can when they're on different teams, But when they're on the same team playing the same exact role, that's the part where I actually I think you can compare apples to apples because Henderson was a starter for portion of the year, Acres was obviously started for the portion of the year. Both of them deal with injuries at different times during the year, but it was still the same team. Again, if you liked cam Akers, you should not be backing off Darryl Henderson. And Dolan said it. He said, he's like, you know, I had Acres is a first round pick, so I have no issue if he tells me he believes that Darrell Henderson should be a borderline first round pick. Yeah, it's the offense, guys, and I think the offense is going to be better. Look, I mean the Rams think the offense is going to be better. They traded two first round picks and a third for Matthew Stafford. You know when they made that deal. People on Twitter we're like, oh, they actually threw the first in to get rid of goth Bs. Like, I mean, look, the Eagles got a first and a third for Carson Wentz, who was the worst quarterback in the NFL last year. Like that, the Rams traded those first round picks to get Matthew Stafford. They think that offense is going to be better. Do I think Cam Akers is better than Darrell Henderson. Yeah, that's why he was gonna start. Sean McVay was talking him up all off season, like, Um, the sky's the limit, you know, no restrictions, dude. I think Daryl Henderson just slips right into that. No, I think he's got to earn it. I think they're gonna sign somebody. I think they're gonna give um Jake Funk or Xavier Jones. Somebody is gonna get a chance here. But sometimes what's what's the cliche paralysis by over analysis. Darryl Henderson was was a guy who was slated to lead this team in rushing last year before he went and got hurt. That's the guy. And I think, like, you know, if you're ranking him and you're saying, oh, I'll take him in the fourth round, my whole thing is like, good luck. I mean, I don't think he's gonna go quite that far. I think there's like a high third round pick, like sounds about right to me that that's where he's gonna because there's gonna be somebody in every league that goes well. I just want a piece of that offense. Yeah, and that's fine. That's not wrong. That believe me, that's definitely not wrong. Joe. Let's go through your team real quick here. Obviously with the cam Akers this issue will take that with a great assault. Run through it, Run through your roster the rest of it for us real quick. What's your take on how you feel about this dog, if it'll hunt or not? Well, Lamar Jackson first round pick of a fifth round pick. Rather, I stacked him with Hollywood Brown. I think that's more of a best ball strategy. But I know Tags did it with Tannehill and Julio. I don't even know if he realized he did it. Did it? Oh hum? But that's more of a best ball strategy. But you know, just just to note Alan Robinson and Deontay Johnson and Tyler boyd Um all right, I don't think I'm going to be winning any like, uh, Michael Michaelangelo's Statue of David Awards with those wide receivers. But I can tell you what Alan Robinson, Deontay Johnson, and Tyler Boyd are gonna do. They're gonna catch a hell of a lot of passes. Um, and this is PPR, so I'll take I'll take my boring pass catchers any day of the week. I think that's kind of the same for Logan Thomas, Um, Ezekiel Elliott. I'm betting on a bounce back. Obviously. I have Darryl Henderson. I took him in the sixth round just to back up my cam Akers investment. Um Tony Pollard I took because I didn't want to lose Ezekiel Elliott too. I'm glad we made it through the draft without something horrible happening to Ezekiel Elliott. Um. I had Tyler Higbee. Uh. He was just the best player on the board when I took him. And then I have more another boring pass catcher and Russell Gage, which is kind of fits a theme for my wide receivers. And I took an upside shot on Rondale Moore and Darnton Evans. Oh. I also have James Connor who I don't love uh this year. But again, two hundred and sixty four touches are being left behind by Kenyan Drake. And even if you really like Chase Edmonds, Chase Edmonds isn't getting all two hundred and sixty four of those touches. So something's got to give there. Overall, I'm I'm all right with the team. Obviously, I would feel a lot better about it if cam Akers didn't pair as Achilles during the draft. U. But um, but yeah, it's kind of a team where um in redraft, I'm more willing to take those like kind of boring pass catching wide receivers um as opposed to best ball when you're shooting for ceiling. And I'll go I'll go to war with this team every day and knowing that they're gonna catch all passes. All right, Tags you're up here, and I gotta tell you this is you know, the Draft Wizard is a challenge. You know, if you haven't done a mock on here, I encourage you to go do that because you can see like there's no free passes here. We talked about Bateman going in the ninth round. A couple other picks there too, were like, oh man, I wish this person made it to me. It turned out one of the BOT teams went there. So tags take us through your roster real quick in your thought. Yeah, Ryan Sandhills my quarterback. And by the way, I did not realize that I had a stack. Um. I never do I never intentionally do that in a redraft format. As Joe said, in Best Ball, you definitely want to do that. In DFS, you'll you'll definitely do that in tournaments, but in redraft, I don't intentionally aim for it. It's just when value falls. But I had Tannehill, my running backs, Joe Mixon, Clyde Edwards, Hilaire, I have Mike Davis and Travis Etn and my two flex spots, and then I grabbed Latavius Murray. Is just some depth at running back. My wide receivers are Davante Adams, Julio Jones, Corey Davis Um and then I had Michael Gallop, Elijah Moore, Jacoby Myers, and Brian Edwards. So again I feel strong about my entire roster. Dallas got her to tight end. I don't. I would love to have this team to have this roster. Say I like this roster. It's only a bee, but I would have given this an a Personally. I like this roster quite a bit. So I'm surprised there that the wizard doesn't like you best. I would have thought that, you know, you know, there's a disconnect. There's a disconnect in the in the matrix. Which pill did you take the blue? That's why all right? For me, Russell Wilson's a quarterback. My running backs are Austin Ekeler, Naji Harris, and Chris Carson. Is my flex spot there, so I feel pretty good about those three running backs in Wilson controlling a lot of points. That's what I want to do. My wide receiver Ceedee lamb T. Higgins, Jerry Judy. I'm staying on brand with guys who can jump a spot, right. I think lam and Higgins are guys drafted his wide receiver twos who both have wide receiver one upside in a lot of weeks. Same thing with Judy being draft is a three. I think he's got two upside, So I was looking to make up ground there. That to me is how you kind of win leagues at wide receiver if you do go running back heavy. Early Blake jar went a tight end. Then my backup guys who are actually my other flex as Leonard Fournette, but I got Kenyan Drake in there, Mike Williams, I would probably put into that other flex spot and start him, Trevor Lawrence, t Y Hilton, John Brown, and Marlon Max. So that's a team that I would go to war with as well. So some lots of educational programming today here on Fantasy Pros Football Podcast Joe Dolan once again, you could follow him on the Twitter machine at FG Underscored Dolan, check out all his great work at Fantasy Points and of course series XM Fantasy Worry Hosts and the Fantasy Feast with Ross Tucker. Joe, what else you got going on? My man? Well, I'm gonna go um and I'm gonna be I'm gonna be following around like hoping that it's not gonna be like final destination for me. Today, I've got to go pick my car up from the shop. I got new breaks put on it. Now. I've had a really rough couple of days here, guys. I went for an oil change yesterday and they told me I needed new breaks. That's never a fun that's never fun. She came over like she was coming out, like it was a doctor coming out of a hospital and tell me a loved one to die. And I probably should have. I probably should have. U should have seen Matt coming. But now, um, we're busy over at Fantasy Points, guys. Uh, we have a franchise focus series. I'm literally writing the RAMS one right now, um, and I have to obviously go back and do some some adjusting to that. Um. We've got all kinds of great content coming up with with draft plans and cheat sheets and all that stuff. And you know, Scott Barrett and Graham Barfield are putting out amazing content every day and I'm as an editor, I just get to sit and read it and absorb it. And that's what I'm going to be doing the rest of the day. I hope you guys have a wonderful day. Thanks for having me on. No, dude, we love it as great fun as I knew it would be. In tags. You and I both know that when you see an injury like this, we all kind of go huh sigh and know that we've got work now to do this afternoon and readjusting a whole lot of things and I know I've got it, and I know you've got ahead of you as well. Oh, it's time to update some projections. Unfortunately, I'm gonna I'm gonna be I'm gonna just waiting around until we hear who the backup is that they signed, because they're gonna sign somebody, So you know, don't go overboard right now, trading for Arrel Henderson thinking like in Dynasty, thinking you're gonna get a steal because let's just wait and see who they signed. Maybe if they trade for who gets cut. Whatever the case may be, there's someone out there that they're going to add for sure. Well, I gotta tell you, if you've been listening to the show, we've been talking so much about Darryl Henderson being a late draft pick that was worth the equity for myriad of reasons. This was the worst case scenario for Cammakers, the best case scenario possibly for Darryl Henderson. So we'll have more on that as the week goes on. Not only is every pod we do over on the YouTube channel for your visual enjoyment, but also we got a lot of short form videos are gonna get you ready for the season. Today, I've got to go pick my car up from the shop. I got new breaks put on it. Now. I've had a really rough couple of days here, guys. I went for an oil change yesterday and they told me I needed new breaks. That's never a fun that's never fun.
