Speaker 1: Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Pros MLB. This is Leading Off Live. It is the Joey p Joe piz Apia and for a first time in the week, it's me and it's the Welsh in the same space. Gotta love that. So finally the boys are back in town and we're hearing our twitch Twitch dot tv slash Fantasy Pros. That's the place to be Monday through Friday to watch Leading Off Live and of course if you can't get here live, watching on our YouTube channel at Fantasy Pros MLB YouTube. Welsh. We've got a lot to talk about today. We got prospecting with the Welsh. We have got double A prospects. That's a great theme. I can't wait to get to that. We're also going to have a call up we just talked about yesterday on the show. He got the call today. We're excited about that. But there's more managerial changes in April. We just got to talk about it because it's baseball stuff. So the Alex corrifiring that happened, Boston Red Sox will have had a fair amount of success with Alex Korra. He's gone and now the Phillies get rid Of Thompson, their manager. He's gone in the month of April. Apparently they offered corp of the job and he turned it down because he wants to spend more time with his family. Yeah. Sure, I'm sure everybody wants to spend more time with their family. I'm sure that's what they want to do. But Welsh, this is crazy because you're talking about now not one, but two managers of two franchises that have had way more success in the last ten years than the New York Mets and friend. And I was gonna say Francisco Mendoza because I just gave from the NFL show, Carlos Mendoza still has a job. I don't understand, Welsh. I just I can't. I can't wrap my mind around it. I can't do it.
00:01:36
Speaker 2: I'm still surprised. Like I said before, like firing a manager in April after everything you went through, I think is just a white flag to say we screwed up, we're inept, and I just what do we do? We did the math like it just doesn't happen a lot. Uh, Okay, it happened twice and it wasn't the team that you were even making the case about so I am like, I'm surprised and not surprised, Like the Philly were pulling a Mets, but obviously there was something deeper for them to pull the plug. The Red Sox were just absolutely dysfunctional, like they I mean, they just sweeped across the board, fired everybody. I know that's not dysfunctional. Well look at but you're not going to fire them right now. They're not going to fire Mendoza right now. He's not on his nine game fire losing streak.
00:02:21
Speaker 1: He's been a losing streak since they had the best record in baseball last year. And check this out too. This is between Cally, myself and Kelly in our leading off chat. Cally says, Phillies fire their manager. Kelly of course jumps in. Joe is going to be so jealous, and I of course reply all capital letters fuming, dom matting. I take that job.
00:02:40
Speaker 2: By the way, I hope like seven more managers get fired and it's not the Mets.
00:02:44
Speaker 1: I like this, what more do you have to do to get fired? Welsh? I mean, these guys are getting fired with resumes. Mendoza has no resume. Like it's crazy.
00:02:54
Speaker 2: I gotta be honest with you, Like if you would have told me, because I was super like anti guys getting fired in April, if you would have told me that two managers were going to get fired and they weren't going to be Mendoza, I don't think I would have guessed. I might have guessed Core with the Red Sox. I never would have guessed the Phillies, Like I would have thought this would have been more inept garbage e teams that just said, you know, hey, this rebuild doesn't work. I just wouldn't have thought it was like a couple of the bigger teams in baseball, especially the Phillies. So yeah, I mean, I'm surprised that they got fired. I'm surprised that Mendoza has still been holding on. He's I mean, like life round. He's just barely holding on, like one more like four or five game losing streak you worry about. But you know, the bit moves on, Joe, the bit keeps going.
00:03:39
Speaker 1: I guess it's a good thing I didn't do that hunger strike starting yesterday too, Like I was gonna do a live marathon on air until I got it, I'd still be here. I still be all right, let's get the happier news. Let's sure in the page Travis Bizana is getting the call for the Cleveland Guardians. The former number one overall pick is going to get his opportunity in the show, and that is very exciting. We literally just talked about him yesterday leading the minor leagues in doubles at Triple A Columbus. He was slashing two eighty seven four to twenty two five eleven with two homers eight steals. He's got twenty one walks, but twenty five strikeouts too, so there are a lot of strikeouts in there. So we's got some power, He's got some speed. I have to say, Welsh, I do think he's more of a doubles hitter at the stage in his career from everything that I've seen, I don't love the strikeouts. He has taken a little bit longer than we anticipated to get to the big leagues. I think a lot of us in prospects circles especially, people thought this guy would be there just immediately. It's taken him a little bit longer. There were some injuries but also some performance issues that things just really haven't clicked for him. We know he's a hard worker. He's a very diligent guy. He's almost so much of a grinder that I never remember stories that he turned off some of his teammates to him in college where people are like, eugh, you know, this guy's a little much. But you know what, you want a guy who's a professional that takes things seriously. So let's talk about the fantasy impact here for Travis Bezana. Talk to us about the profile what that looks like now at the major league level as he gets his first taste of action at the show.
00:05:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a weird one though, because I said this one week ago on this show, on the Tuesday show for Prospecting, and I broke him down. So not to like get into like repeating of myself, but yes, I thought he was going to come up soon despite not having insane results. But I think the last cog in the Travis Bozana wheel here was they just wanted him to find some consistent contact because the guy has always walked a bunch, that's his thing. He's very like he's gonna be one of those guys where you know, he's got like aggressive in zone tendencies and he's working on not chasing We're gonna see what that ends up looking like from a rookie perspective. Like what you said about the doubles thing, he's not to me, he's not a doubles hitter, like he is a power college Well, no, I know he's a power guy. It's just this year he might be more of a double's hitter. Because something you can see that's happening is he's always been get the ball in the air. He's had some of the best poll rates in college baseball. He was barrel in the ball, hitting it hard, pulling the ball in the air, and that's what he does. And in triple A fourteen degree launch angle with a one to ten max CV, that solid hard hit numbers around forty percent. But the thing that was happening, though, is he stopped pulling the ball a bunch in Triple A this year and he was like playing more of the lime drive ball. So that's where I'm getting at that like that approach might be helping get the batting average up. That is creating a lot of the doubles hitting. But the guy gets the ball in the air, he hits the ball hard, and the future output is a guy that if you think Jijit Weather holds a solid power hitter, like that's who Travis Bizana can absolutely pass. It's just it looks like there's a little change in the game. So yeah, I think he's a guy that you know, he's not Kevin McGonagall, but he's a guy that I would be aggressively picking up. He's at the top of my prospects to be called up list, And like I said, we brought him up last week because it was like he got a stash him Because if you need a middle infielder, there's power potential, there's still in base potential, there's lots of on base side, and if the strikeouts are going down, which they have been, it's a very very good sign. And that right field is pretty official to hitters overall, to left handed hitters. So I'm into I'm into Bazanna a bunch.
00:07:05
Speaker 1: Let's give me a batting average, home run total, and stolen bases rest of season.
00:07:11
Speaker 2: I mean, what would that be, like one hundred and forty five hundred and thirty games. Let's say I'd say like I'm gonna say like two forty five. I think he can be eighteen homers, twelve stolen bases something like that. Man, that's like undershooting it a little bit there. I think there's lots of paths where he could be a lot bigger. But I think the power will overdo the speed, and I think he'll kind of come out. I think he'll come out a little bit hot. To be honest with.
00:07:39
Speaker 1: You, Okay, I'm in the inverse. I'm gonna go did you wait? Did you give a batting average number? No? Forty five? Okay, I was gonna go to forty ish or two fifty maybe if things really correct, right, I was gonna give him, uh similar between fifteen to twenty stolen bases, and I was gonna give him between ten and fifteen home runs. I don't I don't know if he's going to crack fifteen rested from where I've watched him so far, and it's not a bad thing. I just I think there's gonna be some some struggles in there at some point, Like a lot of young players. I again McGonagall, weatherhold these guys, are you know? Just it's it is the year of the rookie, though, and I think you either have these rookies or you didn't this year. And if you had these rookies rostered and stashed. I just think this is a year where everyone from Parker Messig we're gonna talk about in a second, to McGonagall to weather Hold, I mean, guys are just crushing life right now. And if you have a couple of these rookies, Peyton Toldy's last start unbelievable. So these the guys are making the impact and I think turning the tide of what the MLB season is. And speaking of his teammate Parker Messick, nine strikeouts for him, he's got a one to seven three ra He didn't get a win yesterday, only five and two thirds, no decision, but his whip under one at point eight eight thirty eight strikeouts, just ten walks, thirty six innings, six starts this year for Parker Messick. Welsh, what's the big reason for the success of Parker Messic in twenty twenty six in your opinion.
00:08:59
Speaker 2: I mean it's the change. The changeup's ridiculous pitch. It's got a forty eight percent wiff rate right now. So if you want to look at the strikeouts, which is a pretty big leap, be honest with you, Parker Mesick has kind of felt like a guy that was going to float between like twenty one and twenty four percent K percentage, and it was a great college pitcher, really great college pitcher, and if you know, the command was on, maybe he would lower his walk rates. I didn't see this happening. Whatsoever. His K percentages increase up to twenty eight percent, he's expected era, he's really supportive. But really the thing is is like no one's making good contact on him whatsoever. His fastball velo is up this year. It's up almost a full mile per hour, so I think that's a big key. And the changeup is I mean, like I said, it's literally unhittable. It's a one fifty four batting average he only had. I mean, by the way, the guy throws six pitches ten percent or more of the time. So if you also want to talk about success, checking about a guy that has this crazy pitch mix, none of it gets hit. He doesn't have a batting average against on any of the six pitches higher than two point fifty. So I mean, no one is making solid contact off of him. Even in the average exit velocity department. It's like his sinker, is it. That's the only thing that people are making some contact on so I don't have stuff plus numbers looked up. But you know, he has been a command artist. He's missing bats, the changeup has been elite, and he's taking another step. It does feel a little like a little over inflated. I'm not saying this is that whole Like do you trade guys on the high da da da? Like, probably not because he's probably just better suited for your team because he's taking another step. But he's wild.
00:10:34
Speaker 1: He is.
00:10:34
Speaker 2: I think he's he is immensely more interesting to me than like the Jose Soriano stuff that we keep talking right talking about the well.
00:10:40
Speaker 1: I I it Soriano's fun because he throws hard and all that stuff, But like Messek in terms of pitching, you know, I think is more interesting.
00:10:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, pitchability is incredible.
00:10:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, the pitchability that fake word. I also love the body time. I'm not gonna lie like Parker Messi totally looks like a guy who's playing like an over forty league physically, and I just love that about him, Like he's just like, that's a dude. More of these dudes. That's why I want to see a major league baseball tired of everybody looking the same. We're in the Short King era right now, of the Kevin mcgonagall's and JJ Weatherholds and eventually the aj Ewings of the world. I like that that is happening in Major League Baseball and we're starting to see less of the cookie cutter mold guys. Everybody doesn't have to beat cookies four. I want guys that eat the cookies. Where's David David Wells pitch forever? And David Wells broke more cookie jars and god knows what kind of drugs he was taking before it starts and he was out there making thirty starts every year. How come that guy can make thirty starts every year? But everybody who's at you know, every sort of metric station trying to do all that, they're you know, well, we're gonna, we're gonna we're gonna measure your calfs today and see how many exercises we have to do that they can't make five starts. But David Wells, could.
00:11:46
Speaker 2: You sound like you're about to be like the guy that because we want to We're not have the discussion here, but the whole like no one's actually throwing ninety five to throw ninety one. If you saw the the you probably didn't see the Twitter debate that's going on out What the hell's twit? Sounding a little like him, what the.
00:11:59
Speaker 1: Hell ye talking about? Do you tweet on the X the X on the tweet? If I X on a tweet, what happens? Do I do? I take my computer away?
00:12:07
Speaker 2: I don't think you can ex on a tweet. This thing, well, I don't know.
00:12:10
Speaker 1: I used to tweet, and now it's not Twitter anymore. Now it's X. So I got not the hell idea what to do?
00:12:15
Speaker 2: Uh?
00:12:16
Speaker 1: Hey, read my ex post. That sounds disgusting. I feel like I'm I'm disgusting. I don't want to do that.
00:12:24
Speaker 2: Hey, Parker Messick, By the way, looking at the stuff plus numbers, here's so truly fascinating he has. But this also is a little bit of a negative. This isn't gonna help for old Manjo. This is gonna be a little bit of a negative to the stuff plus people because, like like Hemos talked about it before, Stuff plus doesn't do a good job of marking change ups. It's a really big, like fastball slider thing. He has a worse stuff plus number this year than he did last year. Parker Messick was a ninety nine overall stuff plus. He's ninety eight this year. His fastball, his cutter, his sinker, his slider are all well blow one hundred, but his change up in curveball are plus pitches. He's got a location one oh seven, a pitching plus one oh seven. They're all just worse than last year. And yet he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. What does old man Joe think about his stuff plus and pitching plus numbers being worse than last year.
00:13:15
Speaker 1: I'll hell, you get this thing to work. Have no idea? All right, put that away.
00:13:25
Speaker 2: My son's name is Parker, so shout out to Parker's.
00:13:27
Speaker 1: Shout out to all Parkers. Yes, all right. Question here, would you drop Keyshell for Bazana? That I think is actually a really good question. Kesh hasn't gotten off to a great start. Bazana is interesting. I would say no, in redraft, I would rather have Keyshaw.
00:13:41
Speaker 2: Let me look, if someone asked, also Matt McClain or Bizon dropping your glasses? Ever, I probably Droppe.
00:13:49
Speaker 1: This is why you watch it.
00:13:50
Speaker 2: Everybody was that that was a patriot.
00:13:52
Speaker 1: No God forbid, God forbid.
00:13:56
Speaker 2: How appropriate the Patriot one falls. I said, drop the Matt McClain for Bazana. I probably would. Kishl's a tough one. The only thing though, is like here'd be my argument a little bit for it, Like I mean, I didn't, but everybody was like, Kishall's going to hit for more power. He's clearly not. He's got like good underlying stats. He's stealing some bases, but he's just not really doing anything else, and he's not showing any signs of hitting for high average. If Bazan is getting called up, they're not calling him up like a JR. Richie one start thing. They're calling him up to take over the gig and be here for the year. So if you think he's not going to be successful, I keep Kishel. But I don't think Kisha has been good enough. I'm assuming that's like a shorter like ten man league. Like I actually don't necessarily have a problem with it. You just think you thought, excuse me, that Bazana is going to steal bases, and you know, like what's the downside of Bazana at this point? So I don't have a problem with it.
00:14:49
Speaker 1: I actually expected to hit for more batting average. I know it hasn't happened yet so much this season, but I think profile wise, I was expecting a little more. So I'm trying to be more patient.
00:14:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody was. Yeah, So I'm just gonna the fifth second basement taken in a leagues of course.
00:15:04
Speaker 1: I feel like I'm just I'm gonna be patient with Keishaw because I think he's gonna give me a little bit of everything. Is gonna give me a better batting average in Bazana, whereas Bizana there's range of outcomes still. But I think that is a really good question. But McLain, you know, to Nukin's point here, McClean is starting to turn things around a little bit lately. I would still take McClain also, but it's closer and I get the thought process there for sure.
00:15:24
Speaker 2: And by the way, Jerichi is pitching tomorrow, So good point there you go.
00:15:28
Speaker 1: Let's talk about Ranger Suarez. One hit over eight innings, struck out ten guys. So the Red Sox responded after the managerial firing. The other response for the managerial firing, along with the coaches, was this amazing thing. Did you see this Welsh I don't know if you saw this. They hired a coach, I guess to take them away like a like a van to take everybody away. And here you go, so Alex Korra, you are your friends, your your coaches, get on there. But when you zoom in a little closer on the van, you'll see coaches for hire LLC, which just hilarious. So you did see this or you did not see this?
00:16:03
Speaker 2: Well I didn't see that of it only said like how's my coaching and had a phone number that would have made it even funnier, like the how's my driving? I did not see coaches for hire? That's ridiculous.
00:16:14
Speaker 1: This is why you watch the show kids.
00:16:16
Speaker 2: Also that it's an LLC.
00:16:18
Speaker 1: Well, I mean he just drive him around. I guess they drove them to Philadelphia and they were like no.
00:16:23
Speaker 2: So most people know this, but I used to work in sports radiot here in Phoenix and a friend of mine he's like, he's the guy in Phoenix John Gambadoro and Gambo he's been here for twenty five years doing this. He had this really great bit and he did it like probably fifteen old where oh it's a great bit where what he did was he took a picture in a limo with a Limo hat on driving it. And every time somebody in Phoenix that was like really hated would be out, like the god him forgetting the twins and the suns and whatever. He would post like driving you to the airport. Every time it would be a Twitter post of like him and the limos saying getting ready to pick up you know so and so, garbage of a guy that would get out. So that this reminds me of that bit a little bit.
00:17:07
Speaker 1: I mean, just the fact that somebody caught this is pretty funny. Like the internet is still undefeated.
00:17:14
Speaker 2: Another internet catches a lot for these players.
00:17:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, well a guy who looks pretty defeated right now, how's this for a transition? Luis Giesstillo seven runs, five innings Monday. Velocity was down. Last time he was averaging ninety five. You only get ninety five I think once yesterday. So let's talk about Luis Castillo because I've seen a lot of people also bringing up some points about him having a lot of concerns. You know, Castillo, a couple you know, maybe even just two years ago, was considered one of these guys that you just set it and forget it. Right, He's Louis Giesstio. You know what you're gonna get. He's a reliable middle of the rotation fantasy guy. But we are at a certain age now where he is thirty three this year. His expected ZRA plus right now is four fifty one. I'm looking at like, right now he's sitting at six thirty five.
00:17:59
Speaker 2: Er.
00:18:00
Speaker 1: We've got twenty six strikeouts in twenty eight, so that's still there. The eleven walks still kind of in line. So when you look at some of the peripherals, they're still good. And this was a guy too. Three straight years of making thirty starts like that was also a knock on him at one point two sometimes he was missing some starts and sometimes but you know, I feel like you have two ways of looking at this. This is either a slow start or be the beginning of the decline for Luis Castillo in his thirties. Which do you think it is?
00:18:29
Speaker 2: I think this is the decline. I mean, I'm absolutely open. It's a really picture friendly environment. And this is like a vet vet, you know, at the tippy top here, So I'm obviously open to like this just being you know what you said that it could be like a short run here, but we've had declining stuff numbers. I mean, I will say, looking at the stuff plus, his location looks really great, but I don't know the location. I mean, I guess Parker Messick is completely against that. But the if the location is great, it doesn't matter if the pitch is still and you know, overall stuff has just been on a really steady decline. His sinker has kind of stunk. His fastball's average, his slider's really coming down. The problem that you would hold you like two years ago even though he had like really and I'm using stuff, the stuff numbers as just like an overall metric here to just say, like the effectiveness of these pitches, how it's graded when your fastball and sinker was stinky, but you still had this incredible slider. That's what he had. He had a one nineteen stuff plus slider in twenty twenty four, and he was kind of, you know, able to get away with you know, just average other pitches that has been a steady decline, a three year decline where it's the lowest ever. His slight and like his slider I think was like a big get out pitch and he just doesn't have any of that anymore. So, Yeah, this decline has kind of been happening. I think he's getting into a space where in ten man it's like absolute no brainer twelve man. To be honest with you, there are probably you know, like just streaming that you can get into penning the guys aro out in the league. Like I'll ask you this question. Maybe maybe we could do a poll for this. Who would you rather have rest of season? Luis Castillo or Chase Dolander.
00:20:06
Speaker 1: Oh that's interesting, all right, vote everybody Chase Delander, Luis Castillo, look at it.
00:20:11
Speaker 2: Get that vote up.
00:20:12
Speaker 1: Savon page two, the expected ras five sixty five. The batting average against is two ninety nine. I mean it is blue, it is ice cold pretty much. The vello is still decent. Chase percentage still decent. Walk percentage so decent. Like that's the thing, like there is there are a couple of things like you hang on to, like the skin of your teeth kind of thing. A lot of people already Dolander, Easy, we'll get the pull up so you can vote in that pole.
00:20:36
Speaker 2: And we haven't seen a single for Castillo. It's either been Dolander or neither, So no guys are ridiculous.
00:20:42
Speaker 1: Well did you know, by the way, fun fact, I've got it here, Hold on a second, because I had this stat. I saved it because I thought this would blow your mind. The Rockies pitching staff has the best b War. So, for whatever that's worth, that.
00:20:55
Speaker 2: Stat ah b woll good old b woo, good old b War.
00:20:58
Speaker 1: Than any other team in Major League Baseball. It's higher than the Reds, the Pirates, the Yankees, the Atlanta Braves. So the five point seven b War and their ERA plus as a pitching staff is one P seventeen, also tied for number one in Major League Baseball. So there you have everybody, really interesting.
00:21:14
Speaker 2: See pretty nice little b War there.
00:21:17
Speaker 1: All right, let let's do a deep dive on a guy who pitched yesterday. Jack Lighter gave up four runs, three homers, so home runs were a problem for him six innings yesterday. So he started off the year great two forty five ERA seventeen strikeouts, right, but this is now four bad starts in a row. He has a six and a half ERA, actually six point sixty four, but who's counting sixteen strikeouts and twenty and a third inning. So well, is this an opportunity to buy on Jack Lighter or is this just gonna be the Jack Lider scenario where he's gonna have stretches where he struggles and stretches where he looks good for a couple of games, but you won't know what to do and which one you're gonna get.
00:21:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Lighter has floated between a guy that you want on the back end of your fantasy rotation to a go that is just a streamer, kind of like what we just said with Luis Castillo. I think Lighter stuff looks you know, it's better than like a Castillo. Like, I think the fastball can take back up, and his changeup has been the change up slider combo has been like a really good pitch. He's used that change up a lot more this year. I wonder if he needs to get back to using that slider even a bit more. But I'd just say that like he's always been like this. I think I have been the one that has been median line on Jack Ledder. I have been directly the same about Jack Letter the whole time last year when you thought he was trash, I'm like he's not trash. He's going to fall into it.
00:22:37
Speaker 1: This year.
00:22:37
Speaker 2: When you were in He's still wasn't like a must Raf was just like a.
00:22:41
Speaker 1: Strong because he was really cheap. And I think young pitchers who are really cheap who figure things out. You know that, that's when you buy into them, when you don't spend a lot of draft capital to find out. When you have to spend very little, it's all bonus because you're in a position now if you draft a jack Lader and you'll like these last four starts, cyonara, you send them off. But here's the I think the frustrating thing is, I think you need these stretches to be a little bit longer of good. And I think that is where I to hold.
00:23:08
Speaker 2: To hold, because you can stream, but to hold, you need it to be better.
00:23:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, you know what's better than anything else. One of my favorite segments too. We're gonna get the prospecting with aush in just a second. Kevin McGonagall, by the way, let's talk about that rookie. He leads the league in everything right now. Check this out. This is a fantastic graphic. Kevin McGonagall leads the league for rookies in runs average OBP wOBA x WHOBA, WRC plus f WARNT maybe b war two hits, doubles ops. Ken McGonagall, it's, you know, like you have the bugs bunny thing or like bugs bunny first base, bugs bunny second base. Unbelievable. He is leading the league in literally almost every category for rookies. Welsh just I'm just putting this up there. I'd like to hear your response to this graphic.
00:23:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's leading everything. He still might not win the award because the other guy, the you know, the seasoned rookie U Murakami, leads a league in homers, So it does I think, I do think at the end of the day though, like I was actually trying to pull this up, but I just don't think I had enough time. Yeah, I don't have enough time to look this. So if anybody wants to pull it up, I'm curious what the current odds are. You can go look maybe on our friends over at hard Rock Bet what the odds are for Rookie of the Year. I would suspect it's probably still McGonagall, but Murkami's right there. If there's any type, I think one of my bets on the early season. I think we agreed on it was McGonagall Rookie of the year, and it was like six to one, and then it started to move up. Yeah, that was the big play. So like, there's great odds if the odds were to swing back, just throwing this out here, if it were to go like you know, Murkami hits another and he's thirteen, and I guessaid, I wish I knew what the odds were right now, and he were to take the lead and mcgonald would become a deal, I would jump right onto it. But this doesn't surprise me. This doesn't This does not surprise me whatsoever. This is one of the few guys that like did all of this in the AFL. I saw every single day because I went to every single game, and then he just translated it back over. Usually you don't see that, but like what you saw was an incredibly great patient hitter, didn't get fooled, had power potential, and it is all on display despite him being five foot six or whatever. It is like he is an absolute boss. And my big point to that is if Mrkami were to take the lead, get the lead on it, and there are better odds. I would jump back into Kevin McGonagall market because I really think he has a chance to run away with this, because I just don't see like this is a perfect representation of his game scores, runs, gets on base like this isn't like Look, guys, he has only the best batting average in homers, kind of like that hitter.
00:25:42
Speaker 1: And now this is where I'm gonna say, like Murkammi's a plus one fifty five. Mcgonagal's a bus one seventy five. Right now, I'm telling you, right now, I'm still buying mcgonagry.
00:25:50
Speaker 2: Murk Commy's the lead.
00:25:51
Speaker 1: He is the lead, but by it.
00:25:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's what I'm talking about.
00:25:53
Speaker 1: But I love it. I will say this, I think eventually Murakami will get exposed. They will find his flaws, like most up to come over here, and you're gonna see that thing go in the other direction. McGonagall is still the plus money guy that I want without a doubt. Also, good days for rookies. Mois's Pellosteros had a grand slam in JJ Weatherholt a game tying homer. Beautiful moment for him too. He was in Pittsburgh he's I think it's from mars Pa not that far. So the whole family was there at a really cool moment and Weatherholt's just been a g all year man. He has really delivered for the Cardinals. But he's not the only prospect we're gonna talk about today, because it's time for prospect and with the Welsh that's right, here's where the Welsh gives you all of the prospects you need to know. And today it's a little bit more of a dynasty deep dive. Some double A guys that we're gonna talk about today. And one of my actually probably my favorite prospect in baseball, Leo Dvrees. So Welsh, this young man playing for the Athletics is playing very well right now. Talk to me about mister Devrees and when we might see him potentially maybe even in twenty twenty six.
00:26:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the double A edition of prospecting with the Welshpeaker. We typically do triple A in guys that are really close, guys that we are stashing. Yes, this is a dynasty conversation, but this is also meant to be double A guys that are going to press, that are going to push the limit, that either a, they're gonna jump up like aj Ewing just did a Triple A and get to the major soon, or could they even be players that could take an extra jump so over the next couple months. Otherwise we'd be talking about some of the guys you guys already know, and I think Leo Debriz is probably one of the most important. I do know that there's some Hazers Madi people out there that might maybe disagree, but I think if you're looking between the two, I think Leo devrees A makes a case that he could jump from Double A straight to the majors if there was a big either a injury or if they just wanted to make that commitment. But b I think he's a guy that goes to Triple A and doesn't stay for long. Like you said, like maybe we see him this year, Like I think it's unquestionably we see him this years. You could see he's hitting two ninety six, three homers, seven stolen bases in double He's got an almost four hundred OBP, which you'd love to see. The strikeouts, I think they're gonna want to see those come back down just a tiny bit. But he's heat of the call. This is his best run as far as OBP goes. He's got around a four to forty four slug So I think, like, you know, if they want to pick a tiny bit, I think you could look at a few of those numbers and say we want to get those up. But at the end of the day, Leo Devrees I think has a much better case even than Hazus made right now because a the Brewers are kind of pressed with what they've got in the middle infield. I think they can make this jump, and they can make this jump really quick, and maybe, just maybe, with how that ballpark is in the summer, how we assume in Sacramento the heat's gonna go, We think the ball's gonna fly a little bit more. It might be in a better an even better environment to let him do his thing, you know, down in double and triple A, and then as soon as it starts to get hot, you bring him up. So there's a little bit more confidence the ball's traveling a little bit more. I think you need to be paying attention to Leo Devrez even though he has han't got that triple A marker. I do think he will be moving soon. But he is not the only one joke.
00:29:04
Speaker 1: No, he is not. Next guy. We're gonna talk about Kad Anderson left Han's learning pitching prospect of the Seattle Mariners. And in case you missed it, my goodness, what a first four starts for him at double A this year? E er under point five point four eight eighteen innings so far, he's given up just nine hits, just four walks, and he's struck out thirty guys Welsh. If you look up the definition of dominant right now in the dictionary, I believe Kate Anderson is right there. So what's next year for Kate Anderson?
00:29:33
Speaker 2: So a couple of things last year when we talked about this in the draft, I think I said Kate and and there wasn't like, oh, you know, great case here, well you know you're so smart, but like that's the guy that's gonna I say that. Well, but I mean a lot of people are saying this. But like Tyler Bremner was a guy because of the Angels, people I think assumed he would be the first of the majors. I said Kate Anderson would be that guy, and it looked kind of shaky because of the rotation but what do we just talk about Luis cause stinks right now.
00:30:01
Speaker 1: Now.
00:30:01
Speaker 2: I'm not saying they're gonna move off of him or anything necessarily anytime soon. But Bryce Miller with the injuries, obviously, Hancock has been good. Kate Anderson has nothing left to prove in Double A. I know it's four starts, but it is the most. He has the best ERA among all pitchers in double I think it may be baseball, but all in Double A with a point four to eight e r A through four absolute dominance. As you mentioned, his secondary stuff is crazy. He's throwing for strikes, he's getting withis. No one can do anything with him. You got to move him up, and I think they'll get him out of there. But I think one of the main points is is to get this run. He was good in Triple it was good in spring training. He's been great here. If he kind of continues this even over that it's like two or three Triple A starts, I just don't think it behooves them to keep him down there.
00:30:47
Speaker 1: Now.
00:30:47
Speaker 2: They've got another guy in Ryan Sloan that they can look at. But I think Kate is one of those very unique situations where it is a guy that is not being challenged here. If this happens in Triple A, they're gonna have to give a good hard look at their team and can Kate help them?
00:31:01
Speaker 1: Now?
00:31:01
Speaker 2: Cad might be one of the best four pitchers on this team from majors down to minors. And I think this is a guy that could jump from Double A up. But I also think it's going to be here in the near soon. So just because he's not in Triple A doesn't mean it's not someone we're going to see soon. Is he has been the He's probably the most exciting of all of these guys, even Leo DeVries in the hitting side, because Kate is a guy that can go deep led college baseball in strikeouts last year like he's the dude. Kate is the dude.
00:31:28
Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about Jamie Arnold here on our list, as Welsh continues to look ahead. So why should folks be getting excited about what Jamie Arnold has done so far this year?
00:31:38
Speaker 2: So Jamie Arnold's in the same boat as Kate Anderson, another one of those draft picks didn't pitch last year. At one time was thought to be like a number one overall prospect, taking number one overall. He's gone out sent to Double A by the A's and he's dominated. He currently leads Double A in strikeouts. He's got a two nine to five ERA over five starts. He's got incredible spin numbers. He's one of those guys that puts up just like six spin numbers. The walks are a little bit up, which is maybe why like they might want to see like one or two more starts out of him, But I think they've got to push him up. This is a guy that I think has jumped over a guy like Gage Jump who was one of their top prospects. And like Kate Anderson, I think this is a player that they would behoove them to be more aggressive and get him to the majors. He was a prolific college starter. He, like I said, leads minor league in baseball or leads strikeouts in the minor leagues right now, and I think like the stuff is not challenged here. He will go to Triple A very soon. And this is why he's Double A. Watched Jamie Arland. Kate Anderson. To me, I think are the two most aggressive, the two most aggressive pitching prospects from Double A that should be pushed up, even though both of those teams have other really good options in Jump and Sloan. Like I mentioned, I just think we are going to see both of them this year and Jamie Arland, Kate Anderson. They got me pretty excited.
00:32:58
Speaker 1: Ethan Sallas last year a tough year for him. He turned just twenty years old. He's at Double A. Much better start to this year for him, healthy again, and that's a good thing. Two homers, nine RBI, hitting two ninety six with an eight to fifty nine ops to start the year. For the young Sauace, who was widely regarded as one of the best prospects in baseball.
00:33:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of just wanted to bring him up because he was always an A plus defender, one of the best defenders out there, and the bat has completely stalled him if you remember, like, yeah, he was breaking double A last year and he's back there. He's only nineteen years old, though I feel like people feel like he's like twenty three, and they're like, oh, he stinks and nothing, and he's not this and he's not that. Well, what he is right now is a nineteen year old in Double A who's got multiple homers, multiple stolen bases, and he found the bat. He's hitting two ninety six with a three seventy seven OBP. He's not striking out a bunch. Six of his sixteen hits have been extra base. And because he's such a plus defender and at double A and that he'd in there before, I do think there's a path where the padres push him up one more level, and then at that point, if his bat stays successful at triple A, they might want him to come up. Are they getting everything that they want it out of Freddy Furman or camp Usano or I mean aj Pro's favorite thing on the planet is to trade every valuable asset in the minor leagues. Maybe he gets traded and has a spot up. I think maybe any this is maybe a little bit more of the dynasty versus this year thing that I think we need to pay back attention to Ethan Solace because I think what's being held against him at a very young age in his lack of success with the bat is kind of being pushed back to everybody that Hey, by the way, this nineteen year old is hitting almost three hundred, doing a little bit of everything, and he's looking like the top prospect again, so there's a chance we could even see him this year, So keep him on a radar all right.
00:34:51
Speaker 1: Last year for the list of prospecting with the Welsh Franklin Arius infielder and obviously Boston Red Sox are looking maybe to the future a little bit more after this low start that they've had to this season. But seven home runs for him so far in Double A, seventeen RBI, just one so one base. But he's at four oh seven. I mean, he is absolutely red hot right now. So this continues, well, you have to assume he's probably gonna get that bump up the Triple A in the next what like month or so.
00:35:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and this is one of those like I kind of didn't want to even put him on here because he's young and this team has just like a lot of dudes in this spot. But what you just said, he's got seven homers, he's hitting four hundred, he has an almost five hundred OBP, he has the second best WRC plus in all of Double A. He has been prolific. They can't keep him down here anymore. This is one of those things like even if maybe Triple A is gonna be too much for him. Maybe he's gonna get, you know, pushed up, and it's not gonna work. But Harius is going on an absolute freaking terror right now, and I think it's something we have to pay attention to because once you're at double A, double A is the marker to say, this guy, I could be at the majors at any time. The Red Sox disbanding all of the all of the coaching staff, maybe they're a couple of weeks away from starting to trade off guys like Jared Durant and they're just rebuilt. And if that happens, that's a space where if Arius gets puts up, pushed up to triple A, he does a little bit more of this. He is going to be an option. Maybe they don't want to push some of their prospects up because maybe it didn't work with like Christian Campbell, and they've got that's the problem with this one is they've got like some guys that are floating around. But he has been so ridiculous. Double A is not a challenge for him right now. Thirteen hundred ops, four hundred batting average, all the homers. He's got to get off of this, he's going to go to triple A and once that happens, anything can happen. So pay attention to Franklin Arius.
00:36:44
Speaker 1: There you go. Those are the guys that pay attention to a double A. So make sure you are acquiring these guys in your dynasty leagues for sure. That's prospecting in the Welsh and checkout fantasypors dot com for more of Welsh's work with the prospects. All right, let's do a little three up and three down. Let's do show tany three for five with an RBI two run scored. He pitches today. By the way, he has a sub one e RA In case you're keeping score at home, Max free blank the Rangers for six innings. Then he had Aaron Judge homering and doubling twice. Did you see the fight in the stands by the way of the Yankees and the rangerses.
00:37:16
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, I don't think I did.
00:37:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, guy to Judge Jersey getting into it.
00:37:20
Speaker 2: And here's the thing, kids, some would say Jack Lighter was mid maybe maybe, But.
00:37:26
Speaker 1: Here's the thing. Never get into a fight with somebody when you're in a row that's here and they're in a row on top of you up here.
00:37:32
Speaker 2: Oh, never fight the high man. You can't fight you.
00:37:34
Speaker 1: Always the high ground is what you always want. That's what you learn kids. So Uncle Joey's teaching you how to fight.
00:37:39
Speaker 2: At the ballpark always after Who was the high man?
00:37:42
Speaker 1: Was the Texas Rangers had the high ground? And I'll give it. I'll give this. The Yankee guy did get a couple of shots and eventually on when the other guy's friend came in. But you're just in a deficit. You're in a deficit. You got to bring them down to your level if you're gonna fight with them. Swinging up is no good swing so much. I do love I do.
00:38:00
Speaker 2: There's something very cathartic about somebody tumbling down stairs, like like the stands, you know, like if they're too drunk or someone gets hit. As long as they're okay, I don't want them to get really hurt. But there's just something very fun about seeing someone like tumble down because of whatever they've they've gone two nuts.
00:38:16
Speaker 1: I just love it.
00:38:17
Speaker 2: I don't know if that guy did I'm just kind of.
00:38:18
Speaker 1: Hoping he did. It was I mean, I don't know if he's okay. I have it if Seth wants to pull it up at the end of the show, I will drop it in there for him. But do it without the sound too, because I don't know if there's a comments being, Just.
00:38:31
Speaker 2: Take a still shot and show us. Don't even play video.
00:38:34
Speaker 1: You could play this. No, no, you can play the video. This is from the crowd. This is this is inside the crowd. But yeah, that guy got smacked for sure.
00:38:42
Speaker 2: I was just a video. I think I just see the link.
00:38:45
Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, don't watch it. Don't watch it.
00:38:47
Speaker 2: Oh, don't want but I'm watching it.
00:38:48
Speaker 1: No, don't watch it. I want you to watch it on the show. I want live reactions. That's always where it's fun.
00:38:52
Speaker 2: Okay. I don't know if we can play this.
00:38:53
Speaker 1: I think we can. It's just fan video. We can play it.
00:38:56
Speaker 2: Oh okay, it is fan video. Okay, yeah, I want to. I want to watch. I really fingers cross. This guy tumbles one or two rows. All right, well that's what I want to say.
00:39:04
Speaker 1: Stephill, let us know if he can load it up there or not. If not, we'll watch it tomorrow. Yamamoto a rare down? What is Gyamamoto made the downs ever three earned run four runs, for him five innings. That wasn't the best start for him against the Marlins. Matthew Boyd allowed five runs and four innings and Randy Vasquez five runs. So, Randy Vasquez, what's going on here? Welsh? This is one of your guys. And are you freezing or my freezing? I like you were freezing there for a second.
00:39:27
Speaker 2: Uh, you've been freezing a lot. But someone could say I was free I don't know. I'm not really looking at the screen. I'm looking at all the sheets. Is my eyes dart across if people notice that? But yeah, you've been freezing a bunch. He still out a two nine four era, but boy and expected five point zero six era. That was kind of the worry a little bit early on. The one thing Randy was doing was he was giving up like a lot of barrels just nothing was happening with them. So the worry about that is when you when you know things start to do, everything could implode. Like I don't know, I'm still kind of a believer in like Randy, somewhere between like a hold at the back end of your rotation. Maybe he becomes a streamer, but something's going to give between the elite era and the expected era. Maybe he just becomes like a high threes guy. But yeah, that's a that's a bad outing. And two of his last three have not been good. But just want to point out that what is it, one, two, three, four starts of his six, he's given up only two earned runs total, and then he has nine earned runs over and two of his last three, so it's just two bad starts.
00:40:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's too bad for those two bad starts, all right. Quick injury notes here. Pete Fairbanks left Monday's game because he had a weird sensation his thumb. Now he has something called Reynard syndrome, so his blood flow issues. So maybe it's a cold weather thing. We'll see if he goes in the IL. We'll talk more about that tomorrow or when we get more information. Aaron Boone told everybody that Gen Carlos Stanton is gonna go on the IEL, and he did. Garrett Cole is gonna make another rehap start Wednesday and summerset and then Thursday Carlos Rodon and then mex Sure's or went on the IL as well.
00:40:56
Speaker 2: Let's say you got to go to those those are those back to back doesn't that your is in Summerset, your thing Cole and Rondon.
00:41:03
Speaker 1: I know, but that's good. Yeah, maybe, I don't know.
00:41:06
Speaker 2: That's pretty sweet.
00:41:07
Speaker 1: I don't know. Again, Thursday of the kids are here there the girls do not like baseball, and I gotta take my daughter to the theater. She's got the show going up this weekend.
00:41:15
Speaker 2: By football practice, you can go see Cole.
00:41:20
Speaker 1: Maybe. All right, let's get to the whole run board. Let's see what it is here. Wow, well, I know, just like why I've seen Garret Cole pitch a million times. I'd rather go watch it for an exciting prospect. I am going to see the rumble Ponies, So I will be going to see.
00:41:33
Speaker 2: When you can see the rumble Ponies over Garrett Cole for sure.
00:41:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to see the prospects. I know Garrett Cole's get at baseball. All right, No movement here on the home run board again. You can make your home run calls over at fansboros dot com slash chat. It's free, it's fun. I'm going with your Nolverez today against Shane bos Welsh. Where are you going for your home run?
00:41:50
Speaker 2: Call O'Neill Onell Cruz, Big Bomb, Big Fly, Big Guy, SpongeBob O'Neal Cruz.
00:41:57
Speaker 1: There you go, all right, Welsh, you know what's time for?
00:42:01
Speaker 2: What exactly is the time for.
00:42:02
Speaker 1: It's time for the best bets of the day, brought to you by Hard Rock Beat Florida Sportsbook. And today I've got Peyton totally over four and a half k's versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Rough day yesterday for the Blue Jays, Man Dylan Cees kind of blew all of our Toronto Blue Jays bets that Joe Rico and I had. But that's okay. We learned our lesson. Now we're going in the opposite direction. So Peyton totally four and a half strikeouts. Let's go over minus one thirty six. Welsh, where are you going for your best bet for today?
00:42:29
Speaker 2: My best bet, I'm going with the Angels and I'm taking the run line minus one point five versus the Chicago White Sox. Obviously Murakami got to them last night. But guess what, Jose Soriano on the mound. If Jose Soriano keeps up where he's been, we're gonna get one of two things. We are going to get an absolute lock of this bet, or We're gonna have a great conversation coming up Wednesday about are we worried about Jose Soriano if he really gives up those runs of the White Sox but he has been so dominant. This is really about the Angels and Soriano holding down the Wide Sox and Davis Smartin has been pretty good, but you can get some runs on him after the first or second. So I'm gonna go with the Angels full game one point five on the run line with plus money. That's my hard rock best bet of the day.
00:43:15
Speaker 1: There you have it, everybody, so make sure you download the hard Rock SPT or hard Rock hired Rock. Here's what you do. Oy oh boy that struggle bus today? Oh what's wrong with it? In the football show? A struggle bus. I think I'm hungover from the draft. That's what I think. That's what I'm not actually hung over, No, just tired. No really drink anymore.
00:44:21
Speaker 2: I'm with you, I'm with you. I'm just kind of everybody telling me I might have to have to see if O'Neill Cruise is in the lineup today.
00:44:27
Speaker 1: I saw that he might not be. So do you have a secondary one?
00:44:30
Speaker 2: Justin Yeah, I'll find I'll find one and I'll post a Guess what I'll do, I'll go into the Fantasy Ros Discord and I will post it there, because that's what you guys can do. You can go put it in and it locks it in and it's easy peasy.
00:44:41
Speaker 1: I am happy that dom Maattically got a chot here too, because it's funny. Domatically, Everyone's like, why do you leave Toronto? They were in the World series, what a cool place to be, and then went to the Phillies and it seems like that kind of feels like the right move. Now he's got a chance to manage the Philadelphi Phillies.
00:44:54
Speaker 2: If he doesn't, I don't see that we're gonna be I see that his son is like the GM or something of the Phillies. Don Mattingly, So is that right, Preston Maddingly?
00:45:04
Speaker 1: He is?
00:45:05
Speaker 2: I think?
00:45:05
Speaker 1: Yeah? I think so.
00:45:06
Speaker 2: I saw that unless yeah, Phillies say yeah, GM's dad Don Mattingly. Yeah, Preston Mattingly is the I believe is he was a GM of the Philly I could not either until how did neither of us know that? I don't know? But he hired his dad? How cool is that?
00:45:25
Speaker 1: How weird is it gonna be?
00:45:26
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, everybody in here, everybody's just going Joe, Oh, nepo. How disgusting. Nepotism, Yeah, nepotism.
00:45:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, seriously. Yeah, Don mattically really doesn't know much about baseball. That's that's why he hired his dad. Yeah, he wasn't very good baseball player, by the way, Like that's kind of crazy because what if you have to fire your dad. That's an awkward situation.
00:45:49
Speaker 2: It's probably easier than you think, to be honest with you fire your dad. I think so, like like if you okay, if you have to fire your dad for nothing, but like you have to imagine most of these managers have a pretty good idea when the rugs in and get pulled out from them, you know what I'm saying, So like yeah, it might be tough, but you just go like, hey, listen, this is beyond me.
00:46:10
Speaker 1: You know it out.
00:46:11
Speaker 2: I just think it would be easier.
00:46:13
Speaker 1: Tough, all right.
00:46:14
Speaker 2: These guys, also, you're set for life. They're set for like, so when you get fired, I doesn't feel so bad. These guys are set for absolute life when they're fired. So it's just like, hey, this isn't working out. I mean, dude, Alex Korra, they're all like taking pictures with like thumbs up and whatever when they got fired. He's not taking jobs. You want to know why he's not taking a job and spend time with his family because he has all the money you could ever need. They're fine.
00:46:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So we got the fight video. It's uploaded. Let's take a look at the fight last night. All right. So here you go. See is teasing the Ranger fan. Now you see the Yankee fan is on the low ground.
00:46:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a tiny and boom boom boom.
00:46:50
Speaker 1: Now to his credit, to his credit, watch this. Now, wait, the guy that goes after watch a Yankee guy get in a couple of shots here, which is very impressive.
00:47:00
Speaker 2: Guy, it's the same.
00:47:01
Speaker 1: Guy, very impressive. So so he takes his swipe at the guy in blue and then eventually so I don't know if we can rewant this was funny. This is a few moments later, and I guess the girlfriend got pushed down.
00:47:12
Speaker 2: I don't want to see. No, no, that's not no, no, I don't like that, all right.
00:47:18
Speaker 1: Don't want that's wrong with everybody.
00:47:19
Speaker 2: But you notice that I like people going down, but.

Speaker 1: Not like but you see, Yankee fan took the swipe guy up tall Boom just knocked him straight down. But to his credit, I actually was shocked that he got the shots that he did, considering the beating he took and then the fact that the angle he was at, So weren't you You're a surprised by that.

I trained actors for twenty years of my life. Like, you're talking about fighting, I want to talk about fighting. This is an opportunity to talk about fighting. Forget Yankee stuff. I just thought it was kind of impressive that the guy actually got a couple of shots in there. There were decent but more to the point, kids never get into a fight in the stadium period. And if you do, don't be in the lower row. You walk out to the aisle and you go find that. That's what you do. You don't high ground, Welsh always the high ground.
00:48:26
