Building Kentucky’s Healthcare Workforce: Simulation, Connection, and Creating Pathways with Bruce Williams

Ashley Shelton, PhD, talks with Bruce Williams, CEO of Health Force Kentucky, about strengthening Kentucky’s healthcare workforce through early career exposure, hands-on learning, simulation, interprofessional education, and community partnerships. Drawing on more than 30 years in nursing and 20 years in academic education and hospital-based simulation, Williams discusses the importance of creating meaningful experiences that help learners explore healthcare and healthcare-adjacent careers, while using simulation to build skills, confidence, communication, and psychological safety. The conversation also highlights the unique needs of Kentucky’s rural communities and the importance of connecting students with local healthcare professionals who can serve as role models and mentors.
