Everything Trackside: Well we thought there might be some split loyalties at the Temple of Speed ⁓ this weekend, but Ferrari made it quite easy for the Tefosi to spick the other Italian, didn't they? Hello, welcome to the Everything Track Slide Podcast. My name is Sean Kennedy. Joining me this evening to review the Monza Grand Prix is Coops. How Yeah, I'm not doing too bad. We're also joined by Annika, how are yeah, I'm good. How are you? Good. Yes, looking forward to chatting to this. When we've had to take a day to kind of compress, there was a lot that went on. So we've all we've all got our our th our ducks in a row, our thoughts aligned, ⁓ to get into the chats of this one. ⁓ and also Marade, how are you? I'm not too bad. I'm tired, I won't lie, but not too bad. It's been a crazy Crazy weekend, but it's so much fun. It has. And you you've been just as busy as me watching all the feeder series as well. So there was a it's a fair bit going on there as well. The Formula Two and Formula Three both delivered this weekend too. There was. And poor Super Cup. Don't forget them as well. My name made it around. Yeah. ⁓ we've a lot to talk about in terms of safety, but the poor Supercup, my name made it around two corners and ⁓ Did? I quickly turned off. I won't lie. Yes. At least she got onto the track. I did, how exciting. If not for long. ⁓ yes, plenty to chat about in this one. Before we get into it, we are of course everything track side. Thank you joining us. ⁓ wherever you are listening, do give us a like and a subscribe. Ticket on YouTube, hit that notification. That sounds a bit mad, but I bought my tickets a year in advance. And if you want to go, you should start looking right now. And if you do want to go, I highly encourage you to head over to our YouTube channel, Everything Track Side, over on YouTube, where last week myself and Soc sat down for about an hour and went through all the best tips and tricks and where to go and what to do and what to do and what not to do. For going to the Italian robbery in Monza. We were there ourselves last year. We would have loved to have something like this. Lots of the learnings and mistakes that we made before we got there and while we were there, we want to impart to you. So you don't make the same things. You enjoy it the best you possibly can and have an amazing weekend. So head over that episode. I'll link it in the cards and below if you're watching on YouTube. ⁓ and you'll find it. It was the second last episode if you're scrolling back through the podcast stream. So do check that one out if you are planning to get your tickets for Monza next year and save it and come back to it before you go over next year. Right then, let's get into it. The Italian Grand Prix. And ⁓ my god, this is this is a great one. And obviously the big one to talk about is Mr. Antonelli, but we're going to wait on that one. Just like to tease that because there's just so much to talk about about him. He's unbelievable. Look forward to that. But right off the bat, I want to get your own opinions. Annika, let's start with you. Rate the race out of five. What did you think of it? Four and a half. I I really enjoyed it. I my emotions were up and down. It was I was watching it in the pub in London. And it was like even the people around us were talking about it and after the race it was just y all you hear heard was just a chatter about it, like ⁓ Antonelli did this and all that. And yeah, four and a half. Good race. Yeah. Could have done without the crash, but yeah, all good. Don't know what crash you talked about. We definitely don't have a crash to talk about for this one. No, not at all. We ⁓ I tried to get Soc on for this one, but he's still crying, so you know, we'll we'll let him recover from it. I'm just gonna need like a week to c recoup. Or more. Yeah, or more. Coops, how would you rate the Italian Grand Prix out of five? Yeah, probably about four. Yeah. Quite h kept me interesting, but not all the racing kept me interesting. It was the fallout and what the kind of I'm like, how are they gonna deal with that now? Well Hamilton said that. ⁓ he's not it was all that kind of stuff that made it a wee bit more interesting. Although the racing was good, it kept me interested, but my mind kept going to they've done it. No. Although it was a lot of that kinda stuff going on in my head about where we're gonna go next. And then obviously being very selfish, as we all are in this everything track side, is I'm like, That's content. Well that's something we could talk about. That's something else we could talk about. And that as well. And yeah. And then obviously the the situation will come to one of the first things I said was could somebody go and check on shock as we will discuss. And that st started it all, we basically. So yeah, it was good fun. It was good fun. Miraid, what's your writing for? I'm giving it a five. We haven't had so much excitement in ages. Like, I mean, we're used to like the first say ten laps, great entertainment. Then that big lull in the mill middle where you can kind of go off and get a cup of tea, to be honest, because you know nothing's gonna happen until like lap fifty unless something dramatic happens. I'm telling you now, we had ninety eight posts on Sunday because there was something happening every single lap. So much so that the only time I actually got to see the television was during the red flag. Where I quickly grabbed cup of tea and realized this is going to be interesting. It was constantly, we we had a live blog going. It was type, type, type, type, type. So I actually need to go back and watch the race again, because it was only the commentary that was keeping it up. It was so good, so much to talk about. And yes, there are some things that weren't so great about it, but it was a very entertaining race, so I'm giving it a five. Wow, it's high price for it. I'm gonna I I'll follow a little bit more on Coops', I'm gonna give a four. I thought like you could that the intrigue on it was was there's a lot to talk about. I like that. There was a lot of of spiciness and certain things confirmed kind of beyond a shadow of a fucking doubt now. In terms of favouritisms and first drivers and stuff like that. I I'm gonna sound a little bit hypocritical 'cause it was at the race last year and the only intrigue we got I didn't really know about it at the time 'cause it was the McLaren shenanigans, which I didn't fucking know about at the time 'cause I didn't have the commentary really. Other than that, the race was pretty dull. But this year the race was anything but dull, but this is the hypocritical. The overtaking was so artificial. The fact that you even had the commentators saying, ⁓ just tow each other around the track. Like, that's not fucking racing. This is ridiculous. And to be fair, we even got it in like Formula Two and Formula Three as well. The commentators are like, like Chris and Alex or Chris and Pierce were like, Maybe they need to play the team game and just tow each other out. No, they fucking don't. One needs to beat the other. That's how racing works, especially in the junior categories. I thought that was a bit the fact that the commentators, particularly in F1, felt the need to say, ⁓ if you know, they just need to slingshot each other around the track. That is not what Formula One racing for the win of a race should be. Didn't like that at all. So I I'm gonna give that a four. But like there was a lot of excitement. The fact that we had overtakes with lead, I will always be happy when there's overtakes with lead, even if they're a little bit artificial. So let's let's get into it. And the the big place to start, the the the where the whole weekend kind of started is Annika. Pierre Gasly. What a legend. What a man. What a man. What what a man position. comes into the weekend having had his podium taken off him again. He's like, do you know what? Fuck you, I'm gonna go and get Paul. Incredible result. Decent race as well. They very clearly set the car up to just do that one lap because the race space was a bit poor. But seventh and ninth for Alpine was a a decent haul of points. No, absolutely like really good weekend for Alpine. And like I was watching the qualifying and I was like, ooh, Pierre's gonna do something magical here. Cause he just kept like even in Q one, Q two, he just kept being up there. And when he got that poll, I was literally I was I was just typing something on socials and and then I heard Pierre Castle his own poll and I was like Wha Like I was literally just like Yeah, I just dropped everything and I was just like in disbelief. But all fairness, he's an amazing driver. He is clearly like out being the car suits him this year. He is putting those positions in. He is getting those results. And yeah, it was I think it was kind of like a l even a little bit of like a crudge thing like you said. You know, ⁓ you took my podium up you know what? I'll just mess up mess up the crib, you know. And I loved it. I absolutely loved it. And also like Alpine in general, F P one. Pierre wasn't driving in F P one because Paul Aaron was driving and like you know, he did a phenomenal job. He was like P ten I think. And the Estonian president was there as well. And then for Gasly to go and like every session put quite high like quite good decisions in brilliant. Honestly, like top weekend for Gasly. Yeah, it was and it was a decent weekend for for Colo Pinto as He he had made his ⁓ he had a really really good start. He qualified quite well, had a really good start. That Alpine was very quick in a straight line and they they made the most out of their Mercedes engine. We'll talk about William a little bit later on about how they did. Mm-hmm I think was was he up as far as third before Max bought worldly on him. Yeah. And then he's pushed himself off He was a bit distraught after the race, but I think he was there sixteenth or something like that. He recovered to ninth. I think that's still a really, really, really good drive. He c he finished close on the road to the end. Yeah, absolutely. Like he was up in third and I was like I was looking at Signa, who's also part of her team, and I was like, We might be getting up in its double podium here. And then next thing I know, Colopinto's off on the cravel I like, ⁓ I just jinxed it. But no, great recovery drive from Colopinto as well. Like good job. Yeah, very, very good job. Good result for Alpeda. And that's the kind of that is what what ⁓ Flavio Riottori was. It's that fight back. It's that not the give up, but the fight back and get back into it properly. Exactly. Moving on then to I think the first other kind of big story of the race day, not necessarily qualifying day, of Ferrari. Now we have to get straight into them. Coops. I want to start kind of at the start because there's a lot to talk about in Ferrari. A lot kind of went very wrong for them. They did not they they were not particularly fantastic all weekend. And top credit to Sock, I'll I'll give him a shout out. He accurately predicted that they would not be on the podium this weekend. He had a bit of a fear for them. The rest of us all kind of predicted at least one Ferrari podium. Moreaday, I believe he predicted Lewis to win. But they had a kerfuffle. ⁓ turn one and two. And if you were listening to the commentary, ⁓ Martin Brundle called out straight away, that's absolutely Lewis's fault. You can't take to be going around Charles like that. Sorry Lewis, that's your fault. And then Nico Rosberg of all fucking people comes in and says that's not Lewis's fault at all. That's a hundred percent Charles's fault. I don't know what you're looking at there. How did you see it? And what would the debrief have been in Marinello after that one? So at the time I'm like, well where does ⁓ I was like, well what exactly does Lew Lewis expect Charles to do? I'm like that You can't go around the outside there. But then I think there was a screen, there was a shot on the just but just as we're coming to the apex and Hamilton was like his front wheels in front of the wing and then I was like, ⁓ wait a minute. But again, I think I have to go back to the point, probably Brundle was right, like it's too narrow a y that's exactly where it's going to end up. Somebody's going to gravel and Lewis of all people should know that. You know, stick your car down the inside, let the driver know you're there, and then do the swapsy. You know, as he takes the corner, you cut back, and then you've got the speed because you've got that whole run up to the next kind of chicane. ⁓ I mean it was funny listening to Nico having the argument. ⁓ and just saying I think he quoted like page eleven of the rule books and all this kind of stuff and it was happening. But yeah, I mean it's a very Nico Rosberg thing to just know them to quote like that. Well, I mean, is it actually page eleven or is they just saying that 'cause it sounds good at the moment, you know. ⁓ but yeah, I s I think I I mean if I was Charles I'm putting Lewis out there. Yeah, then if Friday and he said the same thing. He said if Lewis was on the inside he'd have done the exact same fucking thing. He'd have shoved Lo the ⁓ Charles to the gravel too. He'd have done the same thing. Yeah, 'cause you're not it's not like you're blocking him though, you're literally following the line and you're like, ⁓ sorry I didn't realize for that. ⁓ Sorry about that. ⁓ but yeah, it's ⁓ I mean, what happened about a lap later kind of proves what I think about Charles Leber, in all honesty, but yeah, that that first corner, I I can't s it's not Lewis's it's not Charles. I think both drivers did what they probably would have done. I think if anything Lewis should have expected and anticipated that's what Charles would have done because like you say, Lewis would have done exactly the same thing. And, you know, just get there, make your presence known and then we shut on the outside. Sorry, that was a very Scottish word I just said there. Get yourself up ready for the next Thing because yeah, as as we all know, races are lost in the first lap, they're never won in the first lap, and kinda put them into a bit of a situation. And it is it it definitely scuppered Lewis. It probably affected both of them to be honest, because if if Lewis had got past or hadn't stayed on the road, he probably would have got him into the second chicane anyway. And consequently, Charles probably wouldn't have been in the position to crash half a lap later. Or a lap later. I suppose the the way I saw it, yes, there is one screenshot where Lewis is ahead. But the rules say you have to be ahead at the apex and he isn't, because the apex of the corner is midway around the actual like curve. And he's if if you're watching, if you're listening to us, I'm sorry to look for YouTube for this bit. If this is the corner and this is the the the next straight. At sort of this point he's ahead. When they get to the actual corner, they are completely level pegging and then Charles is in front again. So I think that's why the Stuarts threw that out straight away. It's like he wasn't ahead of the apex. He was ahead just before the apex and then not at the apex. And chicanes like that are even muddier for this who's ahead of the apex thing, which is a sort of a bullshitty, roundabouty sort of way of them getting out of jail free and then punishing people arbitrarily the next week. So I think they were right to throw this out as a racing incident. Before you go on, you were asking about what the debrief would be like and I don't know if MD knows before I I I don't know if you have all seen that thing that's on line or the the the the audio. And it's just two people going, Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck That is literally what I think It's going to be and 'cause they don't like each other and Charles McClare has a history of going a half. Carlos Saites wins there was there is a video Chicago Sites wins. I don't know if it's the British Grand Prix, Carlos Sites is in the in the park for me and it's like, Yay, Carlos Sites based Charles Leclerc basically just takes his helmet off, gives him a bit of the cold shoulder and walks away. So Charles Leclerc has got it in him and also Lewis Hamilton has made a comment about Fred Versailles. about the f the whole kind of tactics thing and it kinda comes from the stock, it's tart from Fred. So there's there's there's there's some stuff going on which is all good for us. Maybe not for us. But yeah. It's i I think I think it's something that's gonna rumble on into into the rest of this year. Maybe not necessarily this year because I think they're both sort of out of the running now for the championship. I think that relationship is dissolving in front of us. I think next year is going to be even spicier, particularly if they're kind of at the front from the very, very beginning. We have some comments in on the live chat. Join us on Twitch by all means. ⁓ follow us over on Twitch, twitch.com slash everything trackside, twitch.tv slash everything trackside. And join us because we record our our podcast live. So come and share your opinions with us. ⁓ you'll find out on our socials when we are going live, usually after before races. Sock himself actually is is in the comments saying that Brundle was right. Fight me. ⁓ interesting that you've chosen such a hard line on that, but fair enough. I I actually agree with you. I think Brundle was right overall. Nico's just being a shit house. rare for Nico to defend Lewis so strongly, but but there we go. There's a couple of other questions on like Kimi and stuff like that, which we'll get into ⁓ later on. ⁓ but Socks says what happened next basically kills any immediate spice but give it another race and yeah it could be Vindaloo, which I assume he means the battle between the Ferraris ⁓ raging again. And I'll be honest, I'm really excited to see them on track together. I want k China to happen again. That's still the best on track battle we've had all year between two cars. So I want that again. I want them on track again. Also, what will now happen is because this relationship is going the way it's going, they will end up on track together all the fucking time. Yeah. And there will be no respect because the China one, there was respect. It's like there won't be any more. This this could end up being an inter team battle similar to Verstappen and Hamilton in twenty twenty one, where it's like you just anytime they're together, somebody ended up in a wall and I'm ready for it. I think it's got the Halloween's. Yeah, but certainly well. There's there's some stories left to be told in that Ferrari tale. But Moray, obviously the other big moment was that Charles Leclerc stuffed it in the wall, sadly. ⁓ he's having a bit of a moment with Oscar Piastri. I've seen some people say that Piastri hit him. No, he fucking didn't. Charles just got I haven't really seen any comments from him. He was quite winded afterwards. He is okay. That is the most important. ⁓ bigger than that crash. So it is fantastic that Charles OK. That's the only thing that matters. But it was sort of driver error. Suck says Oscar kept him from the racing line. So what? It's parabolica. They know that that they've met eight different racing lines through there. The fact of the matter is Charles kind of got on an awkward part of the curb and stamped the loud metal too loud. It was just his back wheel, back tire. That hit like you could just see it going slightly over the the white line. And the minute it happened, I won't lie, my heart was in my mouth when it happened. The speed That this happened, that I was just like, ⁓ God. Do you know when there's moments where you're just like, thankfully, the in fairness now to the commentators, they got it through within, I'd say, 30 seconds that he was okay. And that is probably one of the fastest that I've heard say he is okay. Now, there's a couple of things about the crash. Obviously, we look, we'll argue you could argue argue back and forth that Oscar's racing line, this at the end of the day, it was driver error. But there's more important things about this crash because first of all, this is the third Accident, I'd say. One was qualifying though. It was third race accident. But it is fourth overall. Spain qualify, but it's four it's his fourth big smash of the season. It is. And obviously that is a concern for Charles Race and himself. My biggest concern though was medically, because I don't know if you saw if anybody saw on Sunday what happened in China, just before this race. ⁓ a GT race in China was going on, and British driver Ollie Milroy. Had an accident and the car just immediately burst into flames, completely burst into flames. And another competitor, Loick, I don't know if I'm pronouncing it this right, so par apologies. Loick Hartog dragged him out of the car. And only for that, I don't think Milroy would be still here. And he has said that himself. My biggest concern wasn't Sarah's career at that point at all, at all, at all, or anything to do with racing. My biggest concern was he got out of the car unaided, which fair enough. That's really good. It's great to see. Just because you get out of the car unaided doesn't mean you are perfectly okay. The Marshalls, he immediately sat down and the Marshalls sat with him. And in fairness, one of the Marshalls, if you're watching YouTube, went like this with their hand in front of his face. That's when I got concerned, because I was like, they're not checking to see if his limbs are okay. They're checking to see if his brain is okay, if he can see. We know that he has said he lost vision in his right eye for a couple of moments. My biggest concern though is how long it took the medical car to get there. I mean, now unless we didn't see that it was there before that, between when we saw the accident happening and the doctor getting to them was quite long. And I think we actually saw that live on TV, the car coming up to us and it was long after Crofty and Brundle had said he's okay. So long. So long. And the track marshals are there. They're trying to do flags, they're trying to do blue flags, yellow flags, red flags. They're volunteers. I can't understand. Far maybe fair enough how long it took the car to drive around the track while all the cars are off. I can understand that. But if you go to a football or a soccer match, each team has a doctor, right? Each team has a doctor. They have, you see the size of a pitch, right? The minute somebody collapses, there is a doctor on within 30 seconds. I can't understand. This is the same in China that Luek had to go in and grab him out of the car. Why there aren't more doctors dotted around the track? Instead of just one medical car car and a doctor hopping out all of a sudden, it was too long. It's been a big talking point, hasn't it, that there's only one doctor. There's only one doctor at a at a Formula One race, which okay, fair enough. Like the it's it's rare that this happens, but you're right. That there there's typically two medical cars though, is there not? There's two safety cars. There's two but but even as fans, w like in Silverstone, when you're walking around, you very rarely don't see a first seed person after a couple of minutes. It's the fact that These accidents can be fatal. Be realistic. They can be fatal. And if you had a series like remember the W series crash a couple of years ago where there was tons of cars involved. What happens with one doctor and that was involved again? Who does he pick? I know it's part of his profession. I just don't think there's enough doctors at all on the tracks. There's also the element of where it was. One, sorry to point him out, it's not the first time Charles himself has crashed at parabolica. The last time was Pierre Gazzi's win in twenty twenty, which Calls the red flag to help Pierre win. So Six years to the day. Yeah, six years to the day. Not to pick on Charles specifically on that. It's just happened to him twice. But everybody fucking crashes apart. Timmy Antonelli crashed in parabolica on his third ever lap in Formula One during F P one seven years three years ago. And we had that absolute horror show of a crash in Formula Three all those years ago that was literally took inspiration for the F1 movie last year of someone going over a sausage girl, which thankfully is gone now, and flew. Into the barriers and f and the F one movie kind of went above and beyond it and you flew over the barriers because movie. But that happened in real life. Someone hit a curb and flew into a barrier. ⁓ upside down was it was an awful crash. But the point being parabolica is where you crash almost every single year. Why is there not more support instantly ready right there in Parabolica of all corners? Like there was a crash in F two as well. Sorry, F three, where I think it was 'cause I don't I'm probably gonna put it the name, but He flew into the barrier like literally Yeah, he did. It was a horrible flooding crash. That was he just straight up didn't break. No, exactly. That could have been so bad. Like he was caught out the car on on fire. Was it QST who's who was on fire or something? He was caught out by that and just knocked some ⁓ into someone else and just flew. Like he was airborne. That could have ended so badly. took three other drivers out while he was at it. It was a t it was a horrible car. Really bad crash. Again, thankfully everybody came out of that okay. Halo did a very, very good job. Yeah. I just but having medical personnel there ready would have been so handy. I think we've kind of gotten no, I don't want to say gotten away with 'cause it's great that no one has been severely injured in an accident, obviously. But Grosjan's crash was at the start of the race, only a couple of corners in. The medics were were near to it because they weren't gone too far beyond the start line. Joe going over the ramp in Silverstone, they were on it straight away because they were so close to the medical center and so close to the start. This happened later on in the race. It didn't lap happen on lap one. And that's where my concern is, is that luckily we haven't had to deal with something this dramatic before for a while. I just think there needs to be more medics in general and dotted around the track. It it takes too long to drive around. Completely agree. It's been like Monza is a long track. No that's that's really, really good. Obviously the most important thing is that G and the other F three drivers are all okay. That's a good thing. Yeah. Pretty dangerous speed he was going in there at. ⁓ but most importantly, Charles O'Clerc is okay. ⁓ Or at least as of right now, we know he's okay. He was seeing that he is being sent for further medical tests. So we'll see if if he's okay to race in in Madrid. There's no there's basically no turnaround. They're hopping in the car and driving down the road driving through France. So fingers crossed he's okay. I hope he's okay. He went to the medical center, they cleared him and now they're sending him for a few more tests just to kind of follow up on that on that vision bit. But ⁓ yeah, let's let's let's hope he's okay. And it was Alex Peroni who had that crash that where he went flying a few years ago in in Monzo as well. Okay, let's move on to I was gonna say some happier tides. Depends what side of the aisle you're on. Mercedes, Annika, let's start with George Russell. ⁓ because a lot has been said about his post race interviews, actually. He was quite seemingly he played the PR game well. He said that he had a good weekend, he was happy, gave Kimmy his congratulations, couldn't believe how fast he was, was amazed, he was up to six already, was like he had no penalties, all this sort of stuff, kept his face super stoic and fecked off. You could almost see the pain behind his eyes because my God, he just played the PR game right. But just to focus in f firmly on his weekend. In any other weekend, this is actually not a bad weekend for George Russell. He was pipped a pole by a car that was designed to do absolutely nothing else other than get pole this weekend. Fine. Okay, it's a bit unfortunate. Put him on the dirty side of the track, but he got ahead of Gasly eventually. But then his teammate and also his teammate has the brand new engine, which obviously is worth a literally tenths per lap. Very, very, very obviously. But ultimately, this is what we've been saying for quite a while on George Russell. Does he have the cojones to do this? Does he have that bite in him to fight back? And I don't mean being an asshole. Because I think people misunderstood that. Kimmy's just ruthless. Kimmy's just passive people left, right, and centre like a Formula Two driver. George took ages to get past past Max Verstappen in a much quicker car. Max looked like he was having the easiest time in his life, just covering the inside line every single fucking time. It was like Orlando twenty four with no proper experience of how to race Max Verstappen. And that was on show. It even took him a while to get past Pierre Gasly as well. And then when Kimmy came along, he didn't fight it necessarily. He was bit smarter on that. He was hovering behind him and he was ahead of the VSC. And we'll talk about that a little bit later. But ultimately, my question for George, and I I I like George. I still have him to I I still wanted him to win the championship this year. I think we have to question just his race craft. Not only his one to one racing with people like Max Rosap and not being just ruthless enough to fucking send it down the inside there. But also like we saw in Sanford, Lando fucked off into the distance on old hard tires. When was the last time we ever saw George fuck off into the distance from the start of the race? Never. That's his biggest problem. Kimmy can catch him from anywhere. Yeah. I mean George did have a good weekend, but I think there's been behind the scenes talking talks in murk. I think something's been said and George is trying to be clever, keep his drive, and just go with the fly. That That's my personal opinion. I think internally, Mercedes have probably made it quite clear that Kimi is their first driver. Kimi is priority. And we saw that with the pit call this weekend, like at Monza. You know, VSC, they could have easily double stacked or George could have should have had the priority. He didn't. It's not like with with papaya rules, we we compare those arrow rules with papaya rules. But papaya rules were clear. If you're ahead, you have priority on a pit call. Mercedes does not have that. And I think that literally cost George a win this weekend. See, you know, okay, yeah, it's Kimmy's home race. It's the first like home race that he's actually done really well at. And like his charge from the end of the grid to the top was amazing. He made up eighteen places in eighteen laps, most of them in the st at the start before Charles' crash. Like those overtakes were insane. But I think, yeah. Internally there's something going on where George is just trying to keep hold on to his drive and knows that he needs to kind of play the team game. George is a team player. You could see the pain in his eyes. He said the right things. His words said one thing. His body language said a different thing. And also, yeah, I I just I just think like it's it's clear. Kimmy is the first driver and I really feel bad for George because he came into this year very Like on top of every single prediction that he's gonna win the championship, Ankime has just like walked all over him with that. And I'm sorry, but Marcus Studley needs to start advocating more for George. George's whole team needs to advocate more. I think that's where the difference lies with Marcus and Bono, 'cause Bono is like, right, we're doing this, that's it. Bono has worked with so many different ⁓ world champions and things like that. He knows what it takes and he's giving it to his drivers. He's advocating. He knows how to set the rules like how to set the strategy and how to be like, okay, in every single situation, how can I get best for my driver? And I think that's exactly what he's doing. And Marcus needs to start doing the same. It's a really interesting point. I couldn't agree with you more. I think that I think that's spot on. If Bono had been given to George after Lewis left, I think we'd be having very different conversations right now. Definitely. Coops. Annika mentioned there the the The pit stop. Obviously, that was sort of a a a big moment, huge talking point across all of social media. We all had our opinions and our shared thoughts in our in our chats. We've all kind of had a a day to to sit and think about it now. I think my opinion personally has changed a little bit. I was very annoyed that, you know, ⁓ that like they were prioritizing Kimmy, but on full reflection, they absolutely were. But equally, it wasn't quite as dramatic as it looked. George still managed to go to almost the very, very end on those tires. He did go to the end on those tires and very nearly won the race anyway. He was on hards. The strategies are sort of mixed up. Had the VSC not come out, George, I think, would have won that race because Kimmy would have had to have pit under normal circumstances and he probably would have finished third. So I think George was on the right strategy in that after the red flag. There is the argument of he was ahead anyway. He should be given every priority to go and win that race. And The argument that they couldn't double stack, I actually don't buy at all. There was plenty of time for them to double stack, and they were so fucking quick, they'd have finished one-two anyway. There's none of this. ⁓ Max would have overtaken us, blah, blah, blah. Have you idiots learned nothing from Abu Dhabi 2021? Fucking take the pit stop. Every single time, take the pit stop. You will catch up. You will always catch up. Kimmy proved that today. And the two of them went and beat Max by 10 seconds. So even when Max pitted and George didn't, he still fucking beat him by 10 seconds. Don't buy that for a second. But We said all last year, McLaren need pick a w a number one driver. We're saying it this year, Ferrari need to fucking pick a number one driver. Mercedes have, and to a certain extent, they've you know, they've put all their eggs in his past and do everything to help him win and we're a bit hypocritical to shit on them for that because we shit on everybody else for not doing that. Yeah, I think the problem is when you've got like Papaya rules, it's like they should be kinda shit ⁓ well, at least I shit on papaya rules as it's like they're making so much effort to say, Look, we're being fair, we're being fair You're not. Mm. Like it's just too much. Like they didn't allow the natural order to just kind of sort itself out. They were engineers and stuff. I suppose it isn't quite as bad 'cause I think one of the first things I put in a slack was, you know, they've done Georgia Dirty with that one. And then as you're saying it's more to do with tires, but you know, they should have been brave. They knew they were getting a one to double stack it. Screamed at the T V when McLaren didn't do it, I it was a British Grand Prix a couple of years ago. Double stack it, they didn't Whoever it was that ended up in front ended up getting absolutely hammered. Yeah, look, it's clear that Toto wants Antonelli to win it because he wants his Verstappen and that's who Antonelli is to him. I don't necessarily agree with what Annika said there, that something's been said. I think the fact that he's so upset is because he does it's not been said. He's seen it. It's not there's not a conversation. Maybe things are they're not really said it. And he's put the trust in An in the Toto Wolf and the team and he'll as his championship. Antonelli's now overtook him and they've basically put the eggs in Antonelli's basket. And they haven't said that to him, but he's seen it today. He's made his own mind up with the decision to put Pit Antonelli and not to pit Russell, put himself even. That's probably more why he was upset because he's not been told, look, we're gonna go down this route, you're gonna play the team game, because if George Russell, you're not you're not accepting that. You're like, watch me. I'm not doing that. But he's seen that he's been ⁓ it's been straticized out of wines, they're they're they're comp they're they're basically putting the eggs in the basket. He could see that as a professional, as a driver, he could see that's coming, he's seen that's happen, and that's probably why he was more upset, I think. Did you see did you think as well but maybe I'm the only one who noticed this in qualifying just to bring it back to there for a minute, we saw everybody was playing the cat and mouse game of To Noto, except Pierre Gasly of all fucking people who said it on polls. That car was running on just magic fuel that day. But every other team was playing some sort of shenanigans for the toe and not the toe. Absolutely everybody who's ever watched any sort of motorsport for nine seconds knows that the plan when your driver is being sent to the back of the fucking grid is your other driver is going to get priority here. Other driver getting sent to the back of the grid, your job is to get into Q3 and tow him around a lap. Either the plan was not executed well. Kimmy was quite audibly against it on the radio. He very much said, Why am I doing this? When's my turn? And he did it for what? The the front straight? Everyone else, like the McLaren's and the Williams and the Ferraris, were and the and the Red Bulls for that matter. Max actually towed Liam really fucking well. I thought. He was just a little bit unlucky with that turn one. Kimmy Antonelli didn't tow George at all. And I I think it's partly that he didn't fucking want to, and he knew Toto wasn't gonna fucking make him. And I don't think they'd strategized it and planned and talked about it properly. Yeah. But also the interviews before Quali, George was asked about it, like, will Kimmy give you a toe? And George was like, Yeah. Like I hope he will because that's what's been discussed. But then Kimmy came on the radio, When's my turn? Why are we doing it like this? Like he he's not being You're being sent fifty places backwards, fuck off. Yeah. I don't know, thirty places, but yeah, but you know, it it's just Kimmy was not wanting to play a team game. Even during the racing, he was like I'm stopping yo yoing, what do you want from me? Like I'm gonna race. Which they had all the right to do, but they should have been clever about it and built that gap with Max before they started yo yoing. So yeah, it's I think there's like a little bit of like Kimmy's youthfulness coming out as well, like we've said previously in one of the pods, that there's a bit of that youthful hotheadedness. At times if things don't go his way. But yeah. I'm gonna jump in here because the discussion was had and Kimmy went, Fuck you because I think Kimmy has that tiny bit in him that Coultad doesn't have, that Piastri doesn't have. He does not give a shit. He wants to win the title. He will be the Michael Schumacher of this generation. He will I don't care. He doesn't care about George. He doesn't care. He's like, Do think when he heard do you think when he heard Malaysia was coming back on the calendar and he went back and watched Malaysia twenty thirteen and thought multi twenty one, ⁓ that worked really well. Seb didn't get in trouble for that at all because he was the golden boy. So fuck his all. I that That is my streak of ruthlessness, I'd be sad, because he got away with it. He he doesn't need to do that. He's already doing it. He's he's sees seen that see since he a couple of wins under him. See if I was sitting here and he'd maybe got on the podium a couple of times and he was nearly getting his first win and he could have he's playing the team game. He's in there with the team. But he's leading the championship by quite a margin. He's the he's the young man who Total Wills has probably bigged him up, brought him in, but If I'm one of the men one of the guys in his inner circle or his dad, you put that you have to get that now when he's nineteen, twenty years old at this point, and say, Look, you have to be ruthless. You have to be and he is. And he's 'cause the whole the whole thing about when's it my turn and I don't want to do, that's performance. That's for cause he knows that's coming out. He's no stupid. He's putting that out there to let them know and know in certain terms, like that that this I'm not doing the team game. I'm f I'm doing my thing. So yeah, it was discussed, it was agreed, but Kimmy's became Michael Schumacher in that ruthless kind of no, I'm doing this. Mm-hmm. Also, Kimmy's dad is a racing driver, he knows what it takes, he's giving it to his son. Exactly the same way as George gave it to Max. Was like, You need to be pr ruthless. That's that's the difference between Kimmy and George as well. Kimmy has his dad there every single race weekend, s like so hyping him up, supporting him, giving him advice. George doesn't have that. His dad does not know what it is to be a racing driver. Yeah, it was it's it's kind of funny as well because years ago if you ever watched Wimbledon and like when Tim Hemman used to used to to play and he got to like semi finals and things and then he has to be ruthless and you see him trying to act ruthless on the court and you're like back in the box, Tim, that's d you don't do that. But when Djokovic was playing on Medal, you could see it it's the streak it's in him. I just think that I just think that Antonelli just has that ruthless streak in him. I th obviously the the dad's probably gonna help him with a few things and get him ready for it. And look, by the way, you're in this fight, you need to knuckle down now. And maybe that does help to a point, but I think to be as ruthless as your Michael Schumacher's saying it's well probably one problem on toyer to a point it's in ye. It's just you and I don't think that George quite has it and I don't think he quite knows how to bring it out of him. Because if someone who's not naturally ruthless They're gonna try be ruthless and they're gonna go too far. Like you saw what he did where he was at the when he was in the Williams and he tripped over Botas and he's slap on the side. That and it's like that's your fault. It was you, you did that. Like rein it in and total had to kinda you know, you got the Cleo Cup if you do that again. But so no, I think Antonelli just is just that bit more ruthless and I think George doesn't quite know how to deal with it. And that and I think that's why he's kinda struggling with it. But Murray, I do want to bring you in, you've been sitting there politely nodding for a while. I do want to chat specifically just about Kimmy's race. The the the the the ruthlessness, the qualifying, all that sort of stuff aside. This was if I've done my maths right, and if the source that I've been reading is correct, the second lowest position of Formula One race has ever been won from after friend of the show, John Watson. Yes. Who won from twenty second at the nineteen eighty three US Grand Prix. Mad. That's the still the all time record. So nineteenth to first. At his home Grand Prix to win his seventh race. He hasn't won race in ages, actually. It's his first win in seven races or something like that. Just take all the bias out of it. We ⁓ we have officially witnessed the birth of an absolute superstar and we're going to get so pissed off at how dominant this kid is going to be for the next this is this is his generation. I I genuinely don't know what to say about him because I've been comparing him as supposed to Max Rosap because that's the the nearest one I can think of. I actually think he's better, which I I kind of like I'm not sure because when I I I was the first to say it, I will hand on heart say, I said, What are they doing? They're killing his career. Why are they bringing him up so young? And why do they skip Formula Three? Now, when I think about it there, as I was listening to everyone talking about team orders and everything like that, Formula Three and Formula Two, there does be a little bit of that sometimes. They're kind of being trained in those two series to kind of be a team player, help each other out, that kind of thing. He skipped that to F two and only got one year in F two. And he went straight into F one. It's almost like coming from F4 karting world where you just want to win yourself. They're young. That's what you want to do. It's almost like he'd just skip that. And I was genuinely that first year I said, This is it, they've roomed his career. And I said it straight out like they have roomed his career. He's been phenomenal. Absolutely. I still can't believe how young he is. Like to have that level headedness at your home Grand Prix, bear in mind The year no two years ago now, you crashed in your first practice right there. Like it's just or was it Imola, could have been Imola. ⁓ one of the channels. And some of the overtakes, you're just like, whoa, like he's so ruthless. He's so confident in himself as well, which is great, but he's not too out there either. It's just I I genuinely was watching him come through the fields. First of all, the red flag as well went against him. He She he was on hard tires. He's hard. Yeah. So it was a strategy. Like it's That's what I was saying earlier on. Like the the VSC, like George was absolutely on the best strategy. He made it to the end on those hard tires. No VFC. George wins that race comfortably. Like and then I was watching the two of them. Obviously, they were switching back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. And all I thought was Max Verstappen's there with the popcorn behind, saying, ⁓ I I kind of was expecting because there was so much back and forth, I was actually expecting Max to kind of come through there towards the end, but they kind of took off. It's just he's a phenomenal talent. He's confident without being cocky. He's really good in front of the cam he's got good PR in the cameras. Now his radio sometimes can be a bit like ruthless, but like you said, you need to be ruthless. Like we we say the same thing about Max Verstappen. Do you think Max Verstappen was going to help out George Russell or any other teammates? No. And we complained about this last year that neither Lando nor Oscar were kind of going, I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. And papaya rules, God, we we know how painful those are. But KME was just sensational. He is a phenomenal talent. I hope he has many wins in him to come. I think I don't want to say the championship has wrapped up, but the confidence to come from the back at your home Grand Prix against a whole stand of Ferraris, pass out Lewis Hamilton with the whole not even a stand, the whole circuit full of Ferrari fans. They said there was a couple of Antonelli fans, sorry, but To have the confidence to do that alone on a strategy that didn't help you, he's sensational. And we will be talking about him for a very, very long time. And I was completely wrong. It was the best decision Toto made to bring him up while he had the confidence. While it was never knocked out of him in a c in a feeder series if he had accidents and stuff. He was brought up when he was confident and it was the best decision that they made. Yeah. Yep. He's been he's been proven right annoyingly. But no, you can you can take nothing away from gaming. This is a he is a We we talk a lot about generational talent and who's the best to driver of all time? It's Jim Clark, but that's neither here nor there. But every generation has their out and out talent. You had Nicky Lauda, you had Eric and Senna, you had Michael Schumacher with Mika Hackenden, but it was Michael Schumacher really because Hackenden retired. You had Fernando Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen. Yeah. Kimi Antonelli. It's not Lando. It's not George. It's not Char unfortunately it's not Charles. It should have been Charles, not Charles. It's Kimmy Antonelli. He he is he is the heir to the throne that Max took from Lewis. Kimmy is now here to take it from Max. Whatever you think about him, whatever you think about Toto's decisions, if you're a George fan, if you're if you don't give a shit about Mercedes at all, just be present with this one. Because this is an important one. In future generation, when you're telling your kids and your grandkids about it, remember that we're lucky to be watching this kid come through right now. It's it it's very special to see these sorts of things. And if you've been watching Formula One as long as myself and Coops have, we've been we we we've seen these talents come and go. I Fucking hated Sebastian Vettel. I despised Sebastian Vettel with every fibre of my being. He was an arrogant little prick, waving his fucking finger. And looking back now, I think, my God, it was just so good to watch him. He was so excited. He was so fucking good. He was so ruthless. Multi-21 thing. Now that I'm a bit older, I think, yeah, he was absolutely right to do that. And Mark was so naive to think he would. And it's just you you have to appreciate him comes like Max as well. Like I don't like Max, he's he's also an arrogant little toe rag at when he was younger. But you know, he's such a good talent, and that first twin in Spain was insane. So enjoy watching Kimi Antonelli as much as you possibly can. One other thing I will say and we we'll move on to the final bits is anyone who booed George Russell, fuck you. No, there's no booing in our sport as we're As we saw from the crash in China, they risk their lives every single time they go on track, whether it's a show run, whether it is literally going out on a driver's parade, they are risking their lives for our entertainment and we should never boo a driver. Everyone. George Ki I get that it's his home race, it's Kimmy's home race. You're the defos defosi, whatever like that. You've been a bit hurt by Ferrari in this race. But one, George did nothing fucking wrong. He didn't hit Kimmy, he didn't not get out of Kimmy's way. George did nothing. Nothing wrong other than get a little bit unlucky. I get that he's the competitor. He doesn't deserve the boo. Maybe if he'd smacked Kimmy and Charles and Lewis all off into the wall, you could have some gripe to be pissed off of them. There's still no excuse to boo. I'll take none of that. If you're one of the people who was in Monta weekend and you booed George Russell, feel free to unsubscribe. We don't want you in this community at all. Formula One doesn't want you in that community. It's not what this sport is about. And I don't just mean this as a George fan, but I don't like booing anywhere. I don't like when Lewis gets it. I don't like it when Nico used to get it. Don't like it when Seb used to get it. Don't like any driver ever getting booed. Nobody should get fucking booed. If you booed George Russell, fuck you. Now then, a bit dramatic there, Sean, but ⁓ Little bit dramatic, but I feel really passionate I feel really passionate about that one. Yeah. Feel really passionately about that one. Last one that I wanted to chat about, ⁓ very, very quickly, just to bring it back down to earth a little bit. The top ten in this race, one, two, three, four, five, six of them were Mercedes engine cars. The other two Mercedes engine cars finished thirteenth and seventeenth. Coops when are Williams gonna get their shit together? When they sack James Fowles and get a team manager in that knows what they're doing. Correct. That is the answer I was looking for. This guy's stick does it work anymore? Mm mm. It works when things are going well and there's an upward trajectory. But a team who didn't upgrade their car for a full season and then were s so unprepared at the start of this season, it's kinda unforgivable. And I think that nice guy thing has worked to keep him in a job because if that was a Christian Horner or a Total Wolf or a Fred Versa or an one of the kind of other team ⁓ team ⁓ you know what's the team principal that's the word I couldn't think of. They'd be at the door, they'd be getting lambast every every weekend, you know. Even Cadillac, brand new team. They're like, Yeah, this team principal's no working for us, yeah, like out you go and it's half a season. So yeah, James needs to go. He seems like a nice enough guy, but Whatever he's he's it's the name above his door. He's the guy who's been brought in by the people that are giving him the money to get the team mother going and he's like, ⁓ sorry, we bid up a stick. Okay. You could say better I could say he was handed a a a poison chass. He he did there was an interview, I don't know if it was this weekend, but I saw the clips for it this weekend where he was saying like that their CAD system when he took over, which is a couple of years ago now, was like seventeen out years out of date then. Which means what? They hadn't upgraded their CAD system since like the what, two thousand and four? So there's a big argument there that Frank and Claire Williams were just running the thing into the fucking ground anyway. There's a bigger conversation about how poorly they were managing it. Both of them, not just shitting on Claire here, both of them were just out of the fucking loop in terms of managing the team. But he doesn't not have money anymore. He has plenty of fucking money. And I don't think upgrading the CAD system necessarily falls under the cost cap. And if it does, fuck it. Bite the bullet. Do that years ago. Do that instead of giving Carlos Sainz thirty million a year. Bite your fucking bullet. Let Carlos Sainz go. ⁓ like don't pay him that much. Bring in a young driver. It's gonna cost you next to nothing. Upgrade your fucking systems. Rebuild before you go and sign your superstar drivers. I think it's it's weird management. It's weird budget management on its own. But the thing is, it's not like it's not been done recently. You look at what Zach Brown did when he came into McLaren. Yeah. I mean that looked like an F an F P an F an F two car or that was an independent that had no sponsors on it and the sponsors that went on it were ones that have to be put on it. And then he's brought in it was Lando Norris that came in, Fernando Alonso, okay, he probably was a bit of money nowhere near with Stroll's probably paying him. One of the first one of the first things Zach did was get rid of Fernando. He kind of pushed him out the door. Yeah. Or Lando. Yeah, brought in Lando who I can't remember who was with Lando initially. Yeah after the sights originally Yeah, it's Saints Hego. And then he brought he got in the ki the the the system and one thing we've said about McLaren is whatever is on the computer, when it goes in the car, it does exactly what they expect it to do. And that's why they won the championship last year. It took years of pain and, you know, s fixing figuring out, hey, wait a minute, we don't have the base car because we've good we've now went to Renault and now we're going back here. And you know, it there were a few missed it. But the fact that he took over were using Toyota's wind tunnel in Fucking Germany. Mm-hmm. So they were designing little models and shipping them two countries away to try and no wonder they didn't fucking work. So one of the big things one of the first things he did was like, right, okay, we need to cut corners left, right, and center. He's a marketing boy, so he was gonna get in sponsors eventually. And the first major thing he did was commission a brand new wind tunnel in Woking. It took six years, because they're not quick or easy to do. And the year it came on song, guess they did? They won the championship. I guess if they did the next year, they won both championships. 'Cause it fucking what he committed to that long game and he had the team and he had the board all backing him to commit to that long game and it worked. And I just don't think James Wells is the same character. Yeah, and also they they they made the right decisions with the background personnel, not just your drivers with Lando's stuff they brought. I think the only big misstep they made was they brought in James Key and he just he got it wrong. And but the thing is with McLaren, they got it wrong and very quickly they came out at the lunch day of that car that you know went, yeah, the cars It's about your shit box. James Key wasn't anywhere near it. They're all like, Yeah, it's really bad. And then the second half of the season, they were probably the best performing team there. And then eventually as you've just touched on, they won it. So, you know, James Philes needs to go and they need to figure someone else out who is quite happily going to make the tough decisions and say, Look, over the quietly. I hate teams that come out and say, In five years we're going to do this. Yeah, yeah. Behind closed doors Just quietly say, over the next five years, we're gonna get a bit of pain, but there's gonna be progress. I want this done by this time, that time and you'll see it building up. And hilariously, Zach Brown is the loudest, puffiest, outgoingest, annoyingest person in Formula One. And he kept that fucking quiet for a long time. He didn't go shouting and screaming about that like Renault did. But he's the right person because he's loud about other things. He's the loud, brash American guy with his sponsors, and look how great my old underblayer is. Look how oddish this car is at the screen. Yeah. But quietly just dealing with the other stuff. Sorry, Maraid, we keep jumping out in front of No, you're grand. I was just saying just look at our pole sitter this weekend. Alpine. Remember last year we were let's be honest, we were kind of laughing at them at the back. We were like, ⁓ should they won't be out in anywhere near now, as much as I am not a fan of the team principle at Alpine. I'm sorry now, could you imagine last year Alpine being on pole? And it's not just that they were on pole, Calapinto was up in third at one stage as well. And they're getting points. I they're they're not going to be up in the top all of a sudden, but their team principle is the polar opposite of James Vows. And look what's happened in the blink of an eye. So I completely agree. What's the first thing he came in and did? Not necessarily that I'd agree with it, but he came in and told Renault, you don't give a fuck about Formula One. Fuck off, I'm taking Mercedes engines. I I don't personally agree. While it's still named for a Renault branded car, because that's what Alpine is, it's Renault's sports division. While it's still branded for a car manufacturer, I don't agree. that they're taking a competitor manufacturer's engine. I just don't like that. I don't approve of that at all. Cadillac at least have a plan to build their own engine eventually. But like Audi came in with their own Audi engine. McLaren aren't an engine manufacturer really, so they have Mercedes engines. But you know, Renault are a car engine car manufacturer. Anyway, that aside, the first thing he did was spot the biggest problem with the team and fuck them out. And it worked immediately. It's all about the it's all about the difficult decisions. That's what I team principle is that they do it's the difficult decisions. Total Wolf, as much as we laugh and we're saying he's picked the heads with his back do you think it's an easy decision for him to go with Antonelli over George Russell? Of course it isn't. No. But he's made that decision because it's the benefit of what you know. And i obviously there is a bit of an ego in there 'cause he found him and he's put him in the car and it's working out and all that kind of stuff. So there's a bit of self serving in there. But there is there is the difficult decisions. I mean, he knows that George isn't going to be happy. He knows he's hurting the guy. You know, the It's all about difficult decisions. It's not called the Prana Club for Mahim. While we're on the topic of of team principles, just very quickly, 'cause there's been a fair bit of news on him. Annika just the Cadillac team principle. ⁓ obviously Graham Loudon was sacked a couple of months a couple of weeks ago. Kind of between the the the summer break, we kind of made a joke about it. But there's there's an argument. I think this fits into what we're talking about here. It's a tough decision. I I thought, and I said this very loudly multiple times at the start of the season that Graham Louden was an odd fucking choice for a brand new Formula One team 'cause his history of Formula One is failing. With a brand new Formula One team pretty miserably at that. Nice guy. Wrong fucking person to lead Cadillac of all brands. And they've replaced him with Martin Bukowski, who is much better at making hard decisions. So can we expect some more progress from Cadillac, but like ruthless progress from Cadillac in the next year? Yeah, I think so. Because we're already seeing the change at the moment. Like he's been in what two races now? And the issues with the brakes over heating all of the sudden solved, because we had like the the hottest race this weekend and none of the Cadillac's brakes were overheating. Yes they had a weird hydraulic issue during FP one, which they got fined for. But but yeah, it's just it's already seeming to be like a bit more smoother and their qualifying seemed a little bit better as well. Yeah, they didn't get out of Q one, but they were qualifying better than they were ⁓ a couple of races ago. So yeah, I think we're gonna see some Some progress on Gadillac. Do you think he might make the tough decision to sack one of his number two drivers and actually bring in an exciting new young drier? ⁓ yeah. And I don't think it's gonna be Colton Hertha. As much as I like Colton. Like he he is a nice guy. I don't think it's gonna be Colton. Even though he in he's he does say that F1 car suits him a lot better. It's more similar to the indie car and but I don't think so. Like that those outings that he's had, he hasn't set the gridd alight. He hasn't put in like some good times in, you know. So I think like it's not gonna be Colton. I'm sorry, Colton, but I just think it's not gonna be him. I think it's gonna be someone else. Yeah, but I think there's the ⁓ fucking hell, he didn't even have a good weekend in in Sil Formula Two this year. Would you finish the horrible weekend eighteenth? Awful weekend. And he crashed. And and the crash in the in the practice. Yeah. Awful, awful weekend. Sadly. And there's a hell of a lot more talent coming through the Formula Two and Sorry, one final final thing just a bit of news the broken out has gone a little bit long here, but ⁓ just a little bit of news. Yuki Sonoda is officially rumored to be going to Hass. That's not by that's that's that's the really good decision. I think it is as well, bro. I think so. I think it is as well. t two things on that. One, I think that re one, I think Yuki deserves it. I think he's proving now that like the Red Bull poison chalice, like everyone who's gotten out of that system can prove they're still a fucking good driver, and Yuki is absolutely showing that with No warning or practice whatsoever, jumps in that car for two races, it's very good job. I think he'd be good in the hat. The question is one, Oli Berman's not going anywhere, so SFAN Ocon, I think we we we're shown him the door. But where's Rafa Kamara going? Yes. Where where Ferrari putting Rafa Kamara, who if he does win the championship, he's a lot closer now after Tsolov had a bit of a miserable Italy. But ⁓ that was all the talk that Camara was getting that step up. So my point being, if Marjorie Bukowski wants to make a statement he'll sack one of his drivers and take Kamara if Haas don't that make Ferrari happy. Now yeah this Kim this Kimmy thing basically they're now saying that they're proving basically they c they can take someone from lower down the ranks and can become champion. Do you think other teams are going to start looking that way going, okay, one minute now these new cars are suited to a different generation of drivers. Could you see other bigger big teams going Let's take a chance on a younger driver to see compare it with Kimmy. 'Cause that's something I'm kind of thinking could happen. Yes. And I mean if you if you look at like who like the talent, we've mentioned them a couple of times, like Freddie Slater. He's I think he's officially in the yeah, he's he's in the Abity program. But like again, we're talking about like batting smart with your money, James Valde. Why would you not take a punt on Freddie Slater and save yourself thirty million quid a year? Why not? I'm not saying Freddie Slater is on the level of of Kimmy Antonelli, although Chris McCartney suggests that he could be. But like there's plenty of talent. Uguru Goshoku had a great weekend in in in Monza and closed the gap to to Freddie. And in in F two, you've got you've got Rafa Kamar, Josh, Josh Radurksen. I don't rate him all that highly, but he did win both races in Monza, which is impressive on it in its own. Dina Boganovich is still Dina Boganovich is still floating around there. ⁓ like there's there's there's plenty of talent. And Then Art of Foreigneroli is still out in the ether somewhere. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And even Tuka Da Tuka Dappenen has Yeah, over the last couple of weekends, he's been brilliant. Like he's been consistently up there. So like we were discussing it the other day with Siki, like, what if Tuka is coming into F1 and is gonna be the new hacking and then Rikin and like set the crit alight? Because he has every potential to be that. A hundred percent and he is a Ferrari Academy, the driver academy. So like again Cadillac, has this is why I'm saying like I think it makes sense a certain amount right now to to let Yuki have maybe a shot in ass, but I think it shuts the door on an incredible amount of young talent. Because Ferrari, for the first time in their care in their history, have a really strong academy. And it's and and they have they they have two seats. If you put them if you want to be fair about it, like they they can absolutely put a driver in a in a has, which they have with Ollie, and they absolutely have a shout to say Cadillac. put one of our drivers with our engine. They can absolutely do that. There's no legal requirement for either team to say yes, but it's typically how this shit works. And Ferrari has developed this academy and they have a lot of talent there. I think it would be odd. Like personally, if I was if I was Ayukamatsu, even with the Japanese connection, unless Toyota are finally going to actually buy hats, then the Yuki thing makes total sense. But there's no rumours that yet, yet. But yeah, I I think it's it's it's it's an interesting rumor. I think it might shut the door for for a few for a few talents. Right. We have gone very long over. We we will leave it with that one because obviously we'll be back in a couple of days because it's ⁓ back to back race weekend. We have the Madring coming up. And if you want to giggle, if you haven't driven it yet, if you don't know it yet, head over to YouTube tomorrow, Wednesday, Wednesday the ninth of September, just before we put up our preview. And have a look at me learning the track. The track guide this weekend is more of a literally learning the track because I've never driven it before on the F1 game. I deliberately didn't drive it at all all year because I wanted to do this exact video of learning how bad it is, and it's bad. It's really bad. So head over to YouTube, hit subscribe in the notification bell while you're listening to this, and you'll get notified when that one goes live and let us know what you think of it. And we will be back preview that later this week. So again, hit subscribe and join us for that. Thank you very much for my panel. Thank you, Annika. Thank you very much. Thank you, Marid. Thanks, Civilian. And thank you, Coops. Thank you. Weaving Everything Track So we'll be back in a couple of days for the Majoring preview. Bye now.
