Everyone wants the overnight success. Rafferty Pendery will tell you it only took him about nine years to get one. For a long time he worked 20-hour days and took home just $1,000 a month, and he even brought his laptop on dates. Then something changed.
In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, entrepreneur Rafferty Pendery shares one of the wildest life stories we've had on the show. As a kid, he watched his father, Scientology Freedom Medal recipient Rick Pendery, walk into Mexican prisons to get some of the most hardened criminals on the planet off drugs, over 8,000 of them, even after cartels put a hit on him. Rafferty visited prison at 14, and it set the purpose he's lived by ever since: help people.
He breaks down how he finished high school at 14 using the Study Technology from L. Ron Hubbard, started a clothing company at 11, taught himself to build websites, and worked his way into a NASA Mars research project and the Explorers Club. Then comes the business turnaround: how he went from broke and burned out to running multiple companies, including a security business that hit a $15 million run rate in 10 months, by learning to build processes instead of grinding harder. Along the way: why most people treat their business like prison, how to trust yourself while still being willing to be wrong, and why "the guy who does right by others ultimately wins."
