00:00:03
Speaker 1: You found dirty work with Adam Copeland and Derek Poppa where no job is too dirty on K and B R.
00:00:12
Speaker 2: The sports Leader.
00:00:16
Speaker 3: Dierty work with you on any Friday afternoon, I had him Copeland deep hop Danny done with you Giants and the Red Sox kit going pregame at three ten. But every Friday we catch up with the best sports rider in the country. Marcus Thompson of the Athletic joins us on the UMA guest line.
00:00:29
Speaker 2: What's on, Marcus, Marcus, what's going on?
00:00:33
Speaker 4: And a whole lot?
00:00:34
Speaker 2: Uh, well, what's up? How about how about your boy Clay? That's what's up? How about what your boy Clay Thompson.
00:00:42
Speaker 1: Oh, I'm like man.
00:00:45
Speaker 2: Him Clay, Yes exactly.
00:00:50
Speaker 3: Uh, Like it's funny to see this from not funny to see this from Klay Thompson. I think it's an awesome move because, like it's funny to see the full circle of like the Warriors had this young core of players and Stephen, Raymond and Clay and they were the ones pulling in all these guys who were like ring chasing and ring ring hunting, and then Clay goes to a different situation. It obviously falls apart, was not that the team he thought he was gonna play for. The trade Luca Way and all that, they get hurt. Kyrie gets hurt, and now he's got an opportunity to go somewhere else, and he goes to play with Lebron James. I think is pretty cool. A team that's gonna have a damn good shot at winning a title next year, give me honest, yea not Lebron goes do play with Nisa.
00:01:28
Speaker 2: No no change?
00:01:29
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, now he's in Philly, dude, how about you board Clay? Uh No, But he gets to play with Giannis. He's an outside shoot the shots, the last thing to go. I mean, he's not the defender he once was, But I like the dude go into a team where he may have a shot to win a title and a guy who's got championship pedigre. I think it's It's something I'd love to see. If I'm not gonna see Stephan Raymond doing, I'd love to see Clay doing.
00:01:47
Speaker 4: And what's what's more fitting? Tops going to Miami. Oh yeah, there is there a player who bore with longs in Miami.
00:01:55
Speaker 1: Thing Clay like, it just feels it feels perfect and he gets to be with Andrew Wiggins, who you want a title with, Like this is like, this is the ideal situation for Clay because number one, he's got somebody to collapse the paint, like Giannis is gonna get him outside shots like that's gonna happen. And number two, they need shooters. You know what he doesn't have.
00:02:20
Speaker 4: In front of him, a youngster take it this minute?
00:02:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, Like that is not like this is this is really good for Clay and he got a pretty decent bag out of it, right, it's not not crazy, but he's not.
00:02:31
Speaker 4: Playing for the VET minimum.
00:02:33
Speaker 1: You know, he gets to buy out, and I think it was I think he reported like thirteen.
00:02:38
Speaker 4: For two years. You know. It's not that this has changed, but he could have been playing for that VET minimum.
00:02:44
Speaker 1: I figured, like this is good, this is good for play and if you like Clay, you should be happy about.
00:02:49
Speaker 2: This now, Like did he ever strike you as a guy?
00:02:52
Speaker 3: And I know he's obviously evolved in his career win a much different path after the injuries. I know we all love him and we love him to be here, you know and play here, but again, if not, I'd love to see him getting opportunity. But did he strike you as a guy do you see him as a guy that could be a mercenary type player, bounce around and try to title hunt like that because he's again being a three point shooter guy can spot up. He's got the championship pedigree as good as anybody in history. So like, is he a guy you could see floating around for a few years and going to try to.
00:03:19
Speaker 2: Help a team win the title?
00:03:21
Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, what what you ring that bell? Like that's who you are? Right? Like I didn't think he would leave the Warriors, but.
00:03:28
Speaker 1: Once he left, now leaving ain't so hard, right, he did the hardest leave, Like look at KD.
00:03:34
Speaker 4: You know that there was a time where it was like KD that Oklahoma's thes is. You know, now he's been on five teams.
00:03:41
Speaker 1: So you do like, once you pull that trigger and now you're leaving to go chase something else, like that's that could be who.
00:03:49
Speaker 4: You are now and it does help in the long run. Right, he won't be at a play I mean, he'll never be out of places like the Warriors.
00:03:56
Speaker 1: But it's not like he'll go build this other career like Lebron left and then stayed the Leggers for eight years.
00:04:03
Speaker 4: Right, he built this whole thing. So I don't know. I don't think Clay's gonna do that. I don't know if you get close enough, you know, leaving.
00:04:10
Speaker 1: The Warriors, I don't I don't know if Clay can.
00:04:13
Speaker 4: Can open his heart up again like he did to the Bay.
00:04:16
Speaker 1: I think he will always reserve a spot, so whenever it's time to leave for a better opportunity, I don't think it's gonna be that hard because he knows like his whole heart ain't in it, because part of his heart is still in the Bay.
00:04:27
Speaker 4: He'll be back. Belongs to us, he belongs to our streets.
00:04:31
Speaker 5: No, absolutely, But I also would say that his lifestyle makes it easy for him to kind of bounce around, and as long as he has Rock, he'll be fine.
00:04:39
Speaker 4: Oh that hurts, man.
00:04:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot about Rock. My bad, My bad, sorry, I forgot about that. I love that dog and I loved him. I lost him so much. I wasn't following what he was doing. He's I forgot about that, My bad.
00:05:01
Speaker 4: I didn't even know about his homegoing.
00:05:03
Speaker 2: Right, play hasn't hurt back from him. I was like, come on, that's not up man.
00:05:08
Speaker 1: You still got where.
00:05:11
Speaker 2: Is he bro your hand over his eyes when it's been gone for so long?
00:05:14
Speaker 5: No, my bad, My bad, I forgot about Rocko recipes. But how do you think Clay fits with the Miami heat, Marcus? Like, obviously he didn't want to come off the bench, and I'm wondering is he gonna be in the starting rotation? Is it gonna be where Tim Hardaway Junior is that guy?
00:05:29
Speaker 2: How you physics move the needle for the for the heat?
00:05:33
Speaker 1: I think I think it does because at minimum, like it gives them somebody who come off the bench and like you know, shoot and and that like Yanni's just needs that. This this is the move that Yannis really needed. And then you talk about like Gianni's and bam together, right, that's I mean, that is just paint like congestion.
00:05:57
Speaker 4: So somebody's gotta like open that up.
00:05:59
Speaker 1: So you know, Devian Mitchell has become a decent shooter, you know, Like you said, Tim Hardaway Junior, I feel like Clay like it'll be between Clay and Tim Hardaway just because they both kind of do the same things.
00:06:14
Speaker 4: And maybe Tim Hardaway is a little bit younger.
00:06:18
Speaker 1: Maybe a little bit better defensively at this point in his career.
00:06:21
Speaker 6: But I don't know that Clay.
00:06:22
Speaker 1: Clay has that you know fear. He still shoot thirty eight percent for three, like everybody knows who he is, so if you put him on the court, like nobody's leaving him. And I think that's what when you got Bam and you got Giannis like that matters. And Tim Tim Hardaway junr is known as a shooter, right, but who are you more terrified of being open?
00:06:43
Speaker 4: Like Clay or Tim Hardaway. I think Clay still has that felt.
00:06:46
Speaker 1: I think he might end up starting, but it'll become a defensive thing, you know, spocial man. You gotta defend with him. You gotta do all the little stuff like if heat culture. I am curious about how Clay fits like in that part. We know he f's Miami culture, but he culture like you know, how does how does he make this you know thirty plus yuo like his play slapping the floor again, like like how does that work?
00:07:12
Speaker 4: It'll be interesting.
00:07:13
Speaker 3: I got a Marcus Thompson on the Guests. I'm just a thought on on the last time we heard from Mike Dunleavy where he was kind of dispelling rumors that were out on Twitter, and he brought it up on his own about Steph Curry asking for a trade, and then lakem goes on with cala comedy like no, no, no, we're not traded him. He's he's very He's got a great life. What Lake has said one of my favorite lines that he's ever owned.
00:07:32
Speaker 2: Steph's got a great life. He loves it here.
00:07:34
Speaker 3: But what did you make of of Dunleavy bringing that up? Sort of unprompted because I know Danny Emmerman was asking him about, you know, off season things, and he brought up stuff on his own.
00:07:44
Speaker 1: I think that's Mike Dunley vy like responded to like social media criticism, which he really doesn't do. But the narrative had gotten so widespread about how the Warriors are wasted his death, and you know, like the organization like everybody knows, like step is part of it, Like they're they're informing him what's up, Like it's not like they're just doing this and he's kind of off to the side, hoping they do better by him. Like Steph's in the mix, like he's making the calls to recruit players too, right, he's trying to get it. So all that was going on and this is the narrative.
00:08:19
Speaker 4: That they're just ruining it for Steph.
00:08:22
Speaker 6: I think that was a tale that it bothered him enough to like kind of bring it up in a way that I'm sure Raymond Ridder just had a little mini heart attack, like, Oh, I can't believe you said that, Like don't even bring up the word.
00:08:37
Speaker 4: Steph and trade in the same sentence.
00:08:39
Speaker 1: So like I felt like that was him saying, like we aren't doing this to Steph, like we aren't harming Steph, Like we haven't wasted anything, if if, if anything, us and Steph have failed to pull this together. I think that's that's what he's saying, Like Steph knows everything that's going on. It's not like it's not like they're making moves that Steph is like no, don't do this or I want you to do something else, Like they're all in it, and I think his voice matters. I think that's what he was trying to say, like we would do right by Steph no matter what, and that's our goal and even if we if he wanted to trade, we're so committed to doing right by Steph that we will honor his trade. I don't think he needed to go that far. Actually, I wouldn't even honor the trade. I'm like, I don't care if Steph want to get traded. All right, that's cool. You're in the contract, buddy, I'm not trading Steph Curry. You ain't putting that on my tab as a GM ever, it'd be like, Nope, it's not happening.
00:09:35
Speaker 4: You're gonna have to walk away because it's Steph Curry. You just don't trade Steph Curry.
00:09:40
Speaker 1: I mean, look how we think of of uh, you know who's the Bulls guy, the Bulls GM, the late.
00:09:48
Speaker 2: Jerry Krush Crows, right, Crows is the guy who wait, he passed a cross time, man, I didn't know forgotten that. Come come on, I don't know.
00:10:05
Speaker 4: Man that My heart sucked a bit. I was about I was about to explain, and then his wife's got, oh.
00:10:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot about that far too. Now don't you feel terrible?
00:10:17
Speaker 4: Like no, that was a wonderfully played shot. No, no, I don't.
00:10:24
Speaker 2: I don't really know.
00:10:27
Speaker 4: I just think like that.
00:10:28
Speaker 1: Mike Notley was trying to say, like, you're not about to make me just like, you know, Steph abuse her like, nah, we're gonna do good.
00:10:36
Speaker 2: But ye, I got anyone too far.
00:10:38
Speaker 5: A couple more minutes with Marcus Thompson on the UMA guest line. Okay, but let's just say hypothetically, and this is never gonna happen, Let's just say hypothetically.
00:10:45
Speaker 2: They did fred Steph Curry.
00:10:47
Speaker 5: I was thinking today, Klay Thompson in Miami Andrew Wiggins in Miami. Would the best spot for Steph be Miami in your opinion?
00:10:54
Speaker 2: Marcus, Uh No, it wouldn't be Boston.
00:10:59
Speaker 1: Uh, Boston not Boston would make some sense.
00:11:04
Speaker 4: I don't.
00:11:05
Speaker 6: I don't know.
00:11:06
Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting. I do think he should be with another player who's like top like that. I just wonder about like that, that situation with Giannis right like, like he would be a good You would think, hey, Yiannis needs a shooter. You would put him there, but you know, how much how much does Giannie have left? I mean, if we pick it like the best team, I think you put him with Yo Kic. I put him with Anthony Edwards, I put him with somebody like that. Whereas like, hey, Steph is a clear like number two, but also with the guy who allows him to play off the ball, you know, when they got the ball, here he goes.
00:11:46
Speaker 4: This guy's a start.
00:11:47
Speaker 1: You gotta pay attention to him and allow stuff to work off the ball, like Jannie can do that. But like you could just sag off and that's hurting Steph off the ball movement like that, just philosophically that that would be my concern. Like even if Jhannest came to the Warriors, that like, that's the first thing I'm pointing out, how does this work with Steph off the ball and Janice has the ball and everybody's just sagging into the paint. But like, look, it would be bad. Let's not get this wrong. But I'm just like, it'd be great put Stephan in Miami. But I think a place like like Denver with a guy like Jokic, with Anthony Edwards somebody else who oh man, put.
00:12:24
Speaker 4: Stephen in San Antonio.
00:12:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's probably the best place to right, Yeahdaron Fox and Steph Curry. Yeah, oh man, that's that's a scary thought, right, So to me, like Yiannie is in that mix, I wouldn't call him the best the best spot. Also, I don't know if Miami is the best spot for the Curry family. I didn't put that pressure on my guy.
00:12:51
Speaker 2: It's easy for play.
00:12:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, perfect. The idea of the idea like Yo Kics though with Steph would be incredible. Imagine that Jokis with the ball. I mean he's incredible pass different.
00:13:05
Speaker 5: Personalities, but yeah, I'm just talking to style.
00:13:06
Speaker 2: Of play would be unbelievable.
00:13:10
Speaker 4: And then he's probably the best passion in the league.
00:13:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
00:13:14
Speaker 4: Him and Aaron Gordon like that would be.
00:13:17
Speaker 2: Unbelieve me, the most fun. Yeah, besides having a deal with Steph not being a warrior. Yeah.
00:13:22
Speaker 3: Marcus Thompson joins as each and every Friday from the athletic best sports rider in the country. Marcus, enjoy the weekend, man. We'll talk to you next week.
00:13:27
Speaker 4: Thanks Marcus.
00:13:29
Speaker 3: All right, we still have a little bit more time. We do seventeen more minutes of dirty work. Let's do it, Yesh by my account, but we have some stuff to get to. Oh dandy, UN's gonna be very upset if I don't do my job or my chores.
00:13:43
Speaker 2: I guess, I don't know. We gotta get you a dug out health report.
00:13:45

00:13:54
Speaker 2: All right, little injury report here.
00:13:55
Speaker 3: Health report for the Giants Keaton win number him with that right elbow right as you went on the il yesterday, retroactive to the day before. They're thinking he could be back in September.
00:14:06
Speaker 2: He's got a.
00:14:06
Speaker 3: Couple of stints on the ale this year with his elbow not not positive. Marcelo Meyer, who the Giants got from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Eric Miller at the trade deadline. They're saying he's going to be back still late this month, begin a rehabusi it in Triple A Sacramento eight days ago. Could join the Giants, they said in Boston. But more likely the scenario is that he'll be activated when they come back to San Francisco next week. And he's got a beautiful swing man, one of the top prospects in baseball over the last few years. And then everybody else pretty much long term stuff. Matt Gage the next closest to returning, potentially in late August or September from his elbow straight. And then you got Haysu sch rodriguezho they think is going to be back in September. He's now finally throwing out to one hundred and ten feet. Could begin his rehab assignment this weekend. That's going to do it for your dugout Health Report sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, Dirty work on a Friday.
00:14:54
Speaker 2: We'll take a quick break.
00:14:55
Speaker 3: We got fifteen minutes until Giants pregame at three ten. But when we come on back, some of the best from across the sports world that you, yeah, you you might have missed him.

00:13:29
