Lee Glass: Well yeah, I mean Yes. to answer your your initial question in terms of was there any sort of paper trails leading to this, yes. during training camp he missed the latter part of training because of the knee. There were some knee issues in classic McVeigh style, he never gave much detail in terms of what the problem was. And I mean nor should any coach. You want to keep that stuff in house. But it didn't seem as if it was that serious based on how they were treating it, based on how they were communicating it about it. And then the mere fact that, you know, he went to Australia and he played in the game. Everybody thought that, okay, maybe he's gonna be fine. Rewind a year ago, with Stafford in his back, similar situation, missed training camp. McVeigh was very nondescript about what was going on, didn't say much, week one. Go on forward MVP season. So you're kind of thinking, okay, maybe they're just being cautious. He's probably not that hurt. And they're just trying to, you know, kind of preserve him for the game. That wasn't the case.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: So after the g during the game, he was quoted as saying that he was concentrating more on staying healthy than actually executing the play. That's how bothersome the knee was. So after the game, he made the decision. Look, he he wanted to get it cleaned up so he can go back to being the player that he knows he can be. So they decided to have orthoscopic knee surgery to clean it up. It's gonna and then they put him on IR as a result of that. So that's a mandatory four weeks. He could be back and running, up and running sooner than that. I'm not sure I'll leave that to Doc. I don't know if you have any insights on what that is. I know you're not that's not your specialty, but you will know more than the two of us. But yeah, that's what's going on. So he
Lincoln: Yes.
Lee Glass: he's on IR, they knew it was a problem. he decided, you know, let's let's just get this done because after playing the game he just didn't feel like himself. So here we are.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So to to to your point, Lee, usually the timeline is at least six to eight weeks, if not longer when you're talking, you know, professional athlete. But some folks heal real fast, right? So you we know it's a mandatory four weeks, we'll see how long it takes. I think with you know, the Rams having Super Bowl aspirations, they're gonna be cautious and hey, if it takes six weeks, then it takes six weeks. You know. you y I you I'm gonna get in the playoffs and then see how things play out. I think, you know, when it comes to hey, we're gonna see how he plays. He goes to Australia, he doesn't show up. He plays, but you know, it's not it's not Miles Garrett on the on the field. It's like, yeah, we gotta do something like this. We can't we we can't hobble our way through the entire season with this knee. If you're trying to stay healthy instead of executing plays, that's a problem. and then you know, you know, for Technically speaking, Aaron Donald, you know, he I mean he's on the team, but he ain't playing Australia, so you know, he may decide to, you know, take his time, you know, coming back to the team, wait till Miles Garrett show up so he don't get, you know, triple teamed again. you know, all all that being aside, you know, injuries happen, the timing is unfortunate. It's early in the season enough that Miles Garrett should be full strength by like mid season. And and push on from there, but whether it's gonna be four weeks or eight weeks, time will tell. So
Lee Glass: So I I I just wanna say this, right? Because and I know we're gonna get into all of the games, but I get the Rams wanting to kind of kinda save everything for the middle and back end thinking, right, we're just gonna kind of gear up for the playoffs. Seattle won, week one. Niners won their game, week one, right? Arizona won. And not only did Arizona win, the last thing I ever wanted to see was Arizona looking competent.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yep.
Lee Glass: Okay. I watched the game. I don't know if you watched the I watched the game. They looked like a competent team, which was a huge
Lincoln: Mm.
Lee Glass: surprise for me. Didn't think Mike LaFleur had it in him. I know he's a brother of the other LaFleur in in in Green Bay. I know he came from the Rams. A lot of coaches came from the Rams, not all of them did well. But
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Arizona looked like they knew what they were doing. They played good ball, protecting the quarterback, run first, eating up yards. You know, setting up for the pass, defense, shut San I keep calling San Diego. the Chargers, shut them down.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: And I it this is not gonna be a cakewalk. It's not like the Rams could just turn it on and be like, okay, yeah, we're just gonna, you know, do what we need to do and then we'll ramp it up for the playoffs. We need to get to the playoffs at this point. Right now we're at the bottom of the division. I understand it's just week one, but so far from what I'm seeing. The Rams look like the least competent team in the NFC West so far.
Lincoln: That's that's harsh, man. I mean I know you you I know I know you a you know, a diehard. Die hard, die hard. Fine, but that's that's not hard. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Look, we I I know you gotta take week one with a grain of salt. You gotta take it with a bit of salt, right? But the fact of the matter is the eyeball tests, watching what teams are doing, and seeing how they're executing. Do they know what they're doing? Are they minimizing mistakes? Are they running, you know, play their plays efficiently? Are are guys, you know, adhering to to their assignments? Arizona was doing all of that. It's first time I've seen Arizona do this in a long time. So it's not again.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: It's i the last thing we need as a Ram team is Arizona to now start looking like
Donald "Doc" Glass: Be competent.
Lee Glass: they're competent and that they could be a playoff team. So yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's gonna it's it's gonna be it's gonna be a a a a long season in the NFC West, man. It's it's shaping up. I know like you said, it's week one, but it's still going to be a a a a really interesting division. so yeah, y'all gotta get your act together, man. So, all right, let's jump into these games. We're gonna start off with we're gonna start off with the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers.
Lee Glass: Oof.
Lincoln: that that game, man, I I was watching
Lee Glass: Oof.
Lincoln: some of that game, and let me tell you, they were going back and forth. Carolina looks good. based based on what I'm what I'm what I'm seeing, you know, even from a Carolina standpoint, they lost the game, but man, they they look really good. But Chicago Bears look even better. and so It looks like they're clicking on all cylinders, man. And you know Caleb Williams is doing his thing. and man, that team team can be scary. Again, this is week one. This is week one. All right. And and so I I reserved all judgment, you know, in in week one because, you know, this i i it is what it is. But the Chicago Bears do look really good. Panthers look good. I think It from some of these divisions, man, it's gonna be very competitive. So things are gonna be shaping up really, really well in a lot of these divisions, man.
Lee Glass: Yeah, Bears look great. Carolina looked good. Bryce Young looks like he's, you know, the the the quarterback play that he was executing last season, carrying over to this season. He was making plays with his legs, finding guys, extending the plays. He looked really good. Those two receivers they have look good as well. But the Bears, man, they they they looked I'm not gonna say unstoppable, but watching the game look you know Caleb Williams just doing things that only Caleb Williams can do. a lot of off script plays still. some
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: he he does he did have some timing and rhythm plays that he he executed pretty well, but there was a lot of off script plays and you still kind of want to minimize that. But he can do it. He can do it. And as long as
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: he can do it then I mean it's fine. the only thing I'm gonna say that I'm disappointed in With the Bears, and I'm gonna say this tongue in cheek, so people don't take me serious, but tongue in cheek. Ben Johnson said that he wanted to have the highest scoring offense in league history. And in the fourth quarter, with minutes left, they had an opportunity to hit sixty. And they didn't go for two. I was a little bit disappointed about that. I was a little bit disappointed about that. I'm like, look, you you want the highest scoring offense in league history, and you could have had 60 points. You know? But
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Every point counts.
Lee Glass: yeah. Yep. But other than that,
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: that dude is maniacal. He's a heck of a coach. The way he's wired,
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: the way he kind of carries himself, the way that he the things that he expects from his team and the way that he gets his team prepared right now is one of one.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: And yeah, they look scary right now.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I I look at the glass, ten percent empty and the Bears gave up thirty seven points. So that makes me confident being a an an NFC North opponent opponent of theirs to see how things go. all that being said, I I I must g I I hate saying this. I have to give the Bears credit at least week one for the head coach to be like, We ain't just trying to win Super Bowls, we trying to be the highest score on offense like of all time.
Lincoln: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And to come out on the road and put up fifty nine. Like, okay, you
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: your your team got your back. Y'all y'all on notice. Putting the whole the whole league on notice. I am not saying it's just because I like I cheer for the Vikings. I am looking forward to seeing how this offense goes against the Brian Flores defense that will try to confuse Caleb Williams, so he'll make plays with his feet. but I think if they're putting up forty plus On Minnesota, the league needs to like be really, really scared for the Bears the rest of the season until things change. but yeah, fifty-nine is pretty pretty impressive to be on the road first game of season to come out clicking that good. And unfortunately, typically when teams start this good early, they're usually not this good at the end of the season. It's typically hard to keep it. the entire season long. but we'll see what happens 'cause I think he's a coach who's demanding enough he might just pull it off. So
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah, I d I definitely wanna see what what they're gonna do against a a a top defense. That that's gonna that's gonna really tell the story. Buccaneers, Bengals. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go too much into this. I think that the the Bengals obviously we know what their offense is, their defense has improved. I was just proud to see Demetrius Knight Jr. with the scoop and score, man. that that that was that we really really impressive
Lee Glass: That was good.
Lincoln: pickup there. So happy to see him doing his thing in in in that game. But the Buccaneers, I mean, you know, they're they're they're they're missing some they're I think they're missing Mike Williams. Mike Evans at my bat. And it it's it's it's yeah, I don't I don't know. It was one of those games that that I felt all along that the Bengals was gonna win win the game. That's just how I felt, you know, as I was watching it. So I don't have too much to say about this, you know, just just happy to see Demetrius do his thing out there, man.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I it gets scary if the Bengals actually have some summons of a defence. Think yeah. that that's always been the Achille's heel of the Bengals is that they got this great high power offense and the defense don't do much. And for them to have four turnovers, and you know, y I know the Bengals the Buccaneers scored twenty-seven points, but for the Bengals defense to actually do something and contribute to the team winning is is is yeah. So at least for one week, Joe Burrow had some help from on the other side of the ball and It's it's a quality win against a a a respectable team in the Buccaneers, so so congrats to the Bengals.
Lee Glass: Yeah, four fumbles, four fumbles lost, right? For the for the Bucks. three of them from Baker Mayfield. So watching this game, Baker just looked out of sorts. he you know, he just got his money.
Lincoln: Mm.
Lee Glass: And he he just he didn't he didn't he didn't have it he didn't put it together. I don't think this was a Mike Evans issue. i you you can't replace a Mike Evans, of course, but it's
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: not like they don't have talent out there. and the on the wide receiver right
Lincoln: They got time, yeah.
Lee Glass: right position right. They got Godwin, they got Ibuka, Tez Johnson, underrated. I think he's a he's a good third option, excellent third option. and you know, you got Bucky Irman coming out the backfield. He's also a pass catching back as well. For some reason, the offense was just out of sorts. the protection wasn't as good as it needed to be. and then you had Baker just not being able to get the ball out on time or quick enough. And that allowed the rush to get to him. He tried to make things happen, and of course, bad things happen when you got big 300 pounders, you jumping on top of you. So I I firmly believe that they're gonna kind of get it together. The NFC South still is one of the that's that division where anyone can make it out of there. They
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: don't have to worry about the Falcons.
Lincoln: No.
Lee Glass: so yeah, between them and Carolina and the Saints, I think that they they they're still in the running. They should just probably file this in the in in in the corners of of the of the other of the warehouse and and keep it pushing. But
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: for the Bengals, good win, the Bengals typically a team that starts slow. In years
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: past, they they they have they start off really slow coming out of the gates. And for them to come out and win the first game week one in this fashion, good for them and good that their defense
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: You know, is act it was that was actually the unit that carried them, not the offense.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah, I I I I I'm I'm looking forward to seeing what they could do throughout the rest of the season. Like you say, they start
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: they start off slow, so you know, if they if they do pick it up then You know, they could they could possibly make some noise.
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: this next game on the Saints and and the Lions, this this was this is a very very interesting game. It this could have went anyway, obviously thirty one thirty. You know, I I I know Docky was rooting for the Saints on this and you know, but it it the Lions scaled out, man. The Lions scaled out. Yeah, and they they they they pulled this one off, but I was impressed with the Saints. Tyler Shook had what four hundred yards or something like that. I mean
Donald "Doc" Glass: Four hundred and ten.
Lincoln: I I w I was you know, you guys were were were were you know, when we talked about Tyler Shook coming out as a rookie and all that stuff, a older rookie, you know, you guys were like, Yeah, Tyler Shook but I I wasn't sold on Tyler Shook. But you know, but seeing that, you know, he's been working with Kellen Moore and Kellen Moore has a plan, Man, it's gonna be that that like you said, Lee, the NFC South is gonna be another division, a three-way race, you know, excluding the Falcons, that that is really gonna be close with these three teams. Cause I think all of them are making moves, all of them are doing things, and it is gonna be interesting. The Lions just the Lions got this one. I mean, they they they just got it. It it was it could have went anyway and it just bounced the lions way today, on Sunday. So, congratul
Lee Glass: W was was was that a pun was was that pun intended?
Lincoln: That was intended.
Lee Glass: Okay. So y you guys watched that game, right?
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Explain to me someone why that wasn't a fumble.
Lincoln: Look it y the not the one in Go ahead.
Lee Glass: Did you did you you know the play I'm talking about, right? So so So let me describe it. Okay. So Goff was was going was, you know, he was in the backfield, of course, about to pass the ball.
Lincoln: Uh-huh.
Lee Glass: Lynx, this is worse than the tuck rule, okay? Because he has his he has the ball, he's winding back.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: As the ball and his arm is back, he gets hit.
Lincoln: Right. Yep.
Lee Glass: Defender grabs his arm and then the ball comes out and it goes backwards.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Backwards.
Lincoln: No, it's backwards, yes. It's always a backwards press, yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Saints pick up the ball. And they score a touchdown. Refs go to instant replay and they say, no, no, no, no, no. That wasn't a fumble. Lions ball. Okay?
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: So now what our eyes saw was that we didn't see a throwing motion going forward.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Forward.
Lee Glass: And even if the if he tried to throw it forward, the ball went backwards, which would
Lincoln: Right.
Lee Glass: then make it a lateral. Right?
Lincoln: Right. Long.
Lee Glass: And you know, similar to what happened with Seattle and the Rams.
Lincoln: Right.
Lee Glass: Okay. But even with all of that, the ref said it was still not a turnover, and the Lions was able to get the next possession and continue on the drive. Now, they explain it. They try to explain their way out of it. And the way it goes is that if a defender Contacts the quarterback before the quarterback begins the throwing motion, it can be a backwards pass or a fumble. However,
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: if the quarterback has already begun the throwing motion, even if the ball goes backwards, the play is automatically a forward pass and therefore incomplete.
Lincoln: Mm-mm. No.
Lee Glass: How d how how how do how does that make sense? How does that make sense?
Lincoln: That don't make any sense at all. None.
Lee Glass: The throwing motion is defined as bringing the ball up as part of the wine up, not the arm moving forward. That's what's in the rule book.
Lincoln: Yeah. It's clear as mud.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I
Lee Glass: Domagnos. Go.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I I no no no no no I I I understand the rule. I just think it's a horrible rule. Right? To to to to make it essentially to make it easy for the referees, if and this now becomes subject to interpretation, right? If the quarterback is in the even in the wind up, right? Once the pitcher starts the pitch, if he gets hit and the ball comes out. It's an incomplete forward pass. So you don't have to worry if he gets hit in this motion. Well, was he trying to throw the ball or not? Is it a fumble? If he's right here, is the b is the arm coming forward? Did it start coming for the moment he starts the the the the throwing motion, if the ball comes out and hits the ground, it's an incomplete pass. Right? Which it it doesn't pass the smells t the smell test. I I understand the rule. I just think it's a bad rule. Like if the arm starts going forward, cool. I get it, right? But not not the Tim Tebow halfway through on the wind up, the Byron Leftwitch get hit, ball goes out, and be like, nope, nope. He he was trying to throw, so it's an incomplete forward pass. Even though he got hit, the arm going backwards and the ball goes backwards even more. Don't make no sense.
Lee Glass: When you get the coach of the team that the call went for, which was Dan Campbell, say during the press conference, Yeah, we we we got away with one, but I'll take it. I'll take it. Right? Yeah, I I I don't understand it. We
Donald "Doc" Glass: Damn it. Yep.
Lee Glass: we we got away with one. But
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: I I'll I'll take I'll take this one. I'll take it. That's when you know it
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: it it go ahead.
Lincoln: Yeah, no, what I was gonna say was, you know, I the with with with the rule in general, I mean, like you Doc, you know, same what you what you said, okay, the rule don't make any sense. To me, I don't care I mean I know Tuck rule all this, all us, but I don't care if your hand going forward, your hand coming back, if the ball gets hit out of your hand and you is not released out of your hand, it's a fumble. That's just I mean make it simple. Make it simple. That's that's that's what I'm saying. I don't care where the ball is or where the motion is, if it's hit out of your hand, if it's hit out of your hand, it's a fumble. Ball hits the ground, it's live. I don't care if it's going forward, I don't care if it's going back. It's hit out of your hand. That I mean, that would be too simple. That would be too simple. so you know, it has to be a little, you know. convoluted. Like i i
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep.
Lincoln: it it just I I I don't know. I don't know how they come up with these rules. We still don't know what a catch is. it's just crazy.
Lee Glass: Well, it it it it's derived from a they said this was a rule that was introduced in twenty twenty two, right? the explanation is i it's it it r it now relies on on intent. Right? So the intent, right, switch it removes
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: the requirement now for forward hand movement. So if the quarterback is intending to throw the ball forward, it's a forward pass.
Lincoln: They read they reading people's mind now.
Lee Glass: That's crazy.
Lincoln: I don't get it. I don't know.
Lee Glass: It's crazy.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So, you know, and and the issue then becomes your classic strip sack. Right?
Lincoln: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: If he's in that motion be like, No, no, I w I was trying to throw it so that shouldn't be a fumble. He would knock it on my head. Which makes again, won't make any sense, but
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. Anyway. I'm gonna say this. Y'all wanna play y'all wanna pay CJ Stroud? Y'all wanna pay CJ Stroud? You know who said that? After the game? CJ Gardner Johnson. He is on
Lee Glass: No.
Lincoln: the Houston Texans going down the the the the the tunnel and he say and y'all wanna pay CJ Stroud?
Lee Glass: He didn't say that.
Lincoln: He said it. He said it. Coaches, everybody going through the hallway. Look it up. He say, and y'all want to pay CJ Stroud? Wow. I I I I see why. I I think I texted it to you, Lee, but I see why this dude is not on. He's going from team to team. Team to team.
Lee Glass: On the Eagles. Yeah. To team to team. Yeah. Yeah. He he's not a he's not a good team. He's not he's not a good locker room he's not a locker room guy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: He's not a good teammate. No, he's not a locker room guy. And and what he claims is what he claims is honesty. And I I get it, but it's times and places when you do things, bro. And and that is not the appropriate. Everybody knows, watching this game, the Texans should have won this game. The Texans should have won this game. And I agree. I agree to a point that CJ Stroud the I They probably don't need to give him a a huge contract. I think they need to move on from CJ Stroud. This is just my opinion. I think they need
Lee Glass: wouldn't move on from it.
Lincoln: to move on from CJ Stroud, but I don't think it's going to happen. because you know his offensive line didn't help him out. However, you you gotta you if you try to make that step, if Houston is trying to beat this team. They got the defense. They got it. If they're trying to be this team that's going to the next level, you have to, you have to have great quarterback play. And CJ Stroud is just not the person. so Buffalo Bills, take the game. you know, everyb everybody's happy. Josh Allen, whatever. What you what you got, Lee? Yeah.
Lee Glass: Yeah, let me let me interject it. I I I don't think they need to necessarily move off of him.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Only if he's asking for top quarterback money, then I'm like, yeah, you you you gotta go. Right. I'm just but
Lincoln: He is from what I'm hearing.
Lee Glass: but let me let me finish. If but if if they can get him to take reas a reasonable salary for pay commiser that that commiserates like what he does, right? That is indicative of his level, which is not top five. He's not a top five quarterback. He's not a top 10 quarterback. He's somewhere there in the middle. So he should be getting paid somewhere right there in the middle. If they can get him to settle for that type of money, you keep him. Why?
Lincoln: But he not gonna win. He not gonna win for you.
Lee Glass: Let me finish. Let me finish, right?
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: If you build a team around him, which they
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: are doing, okay, and can like call the players in a way where you're not counting on him to win the games for you. Because mind you, remember now, and CJ Gardner could say all of that, right? Bills still score 36 points.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: The Bills still score 36 points on that defense. That's a defense
Lincoln: On that defense, yep.
Lee Glass: that's not supposed to allow the 36 points scored on them. Houston
Lincoln: True. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep. Yep.
Lee Glass: scored 31. So you would
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: think with the Texans defense, if you score 31 points, you should win that game. Okay?
Lincoln: Sure.
Lee Glass: They just need
Lincoln: Good point.
Lee Glass: CJ Stroud to do what Sam Donald did with Seattle. That's it.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Who, which quarterback led the league in turnovers last year?
Lincoln: I don't know, I can I don't know who that
Donald "Doc" Glass: CJ Stroke.
Lee Glass: Nope, Sam Donald. Sam Donald led the league in turnovers, interceptions, and fumbles. When you combine them all, he led the league in turnovers last year. They still won the Super Bowl.
Lincoln: Mm. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Two books.
Lee Glass: Why? Because he made the plays when he needed to make the plays, but
Donald "Doc" Glass: Works.
Lee Glass: they let the defense carry them through. That's all the
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: Texans need. They don't need a Josh Allen. They don't need a superstar quarterback. They just need a quarterback that can. make the plays when they need to make the plays and let the defense play light out defense. That
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Right, deal for.
Lee Glass: defense wasn't playing lights out.
Lincoln: No, they wasn't they wasn't playing lights out.
Lee Glass: My man my man had he had the interception to shut the game down. And what'd he do? What'd he do? He dropped it. So no, you can't,
Lincoln: Yep, he did. He did, yeah. He he dropped yeah, yeah. He had it. He dropped it, yeah. but d
Lee Glass: I don't, I don't blame you can't blame CJ Stroud for this game.
Lincoln: Check this out. I still blame CJ Stroud. You know why? I still blame CJ Stroud. Why? Because I get it. I understand.
Lee Glass: Thirty-six points links. Thirty-six points.
Lincoln: I understand. But I blame CJ Stroud because he's sort of like Dak. You can't make the plays when you need to make it. You gotta make
Lee Glass: Thanks.
Lincoln: the play when you gotta make the play.
Lee Glass: Links, not everybody's gonna beat Patrick Mahomes. They don't you can't
Lincoln: I'm I'm just saying.
Lee Glass: you can't you can't just you can't you can't expect the a quarterback to play like a it's only you can only have five top five quarterbacks. That's all you got. You can only have five
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yep. By definition. By definition.
Lincoln: Get it, I get it. Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: top five quarterbacks.
Lincoln: I got I got you, I got you, I got you.
Lee Glass: And CJ Stroud is not a top five, but that still doesn't mean Sam Donald proved that you can still win a Super Bowl if your quarterback is in the top isn't a top five quarterback, and if he leaves the league in turnovers.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Weak internalness.
Lincoln: I got you. But this check this out. Check this out. Yes, he led the league in turnovers, but he made the plays when he had to make that play.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Last season.
Lee Glass: Because his defense allowed him to do that. His defense put him in positions to make those plays. But when your
Lincoln: Yes, yes, it's defensive defense left. Yeah, I got you, I got you.
Lee Glass: defense keep giving up touchdown after touchdown, dropping interceptions, I mean, he is he
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: is not built for that. If you had Mahomes, Mahomes would have won that game.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I got you. I gotcha. What you got to do?
Lee Glass: But no, CJ Gardner like that that that's not on CJ Stroud. Your your unit gave up thirty six points.
Lincoln: Yeah. That's what CJ CJ Stroud could come back with, but Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: I mean, C C C I'm talking about CJ Gardner. Gardner, you're right. CJ Gardner,
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: your unit gave up 36 points, and then you want pointed at the quarterback that his unit, they they gave you 31. And you're supposed
Lincoln: Thirty one. Yeah.
Lee Glass: to have top two, top three defense in the league? Come on, man. Come on.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, too.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I let that be, man. That that's that's yeah. It no
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: all all jokes aside, the the two fumbles the two fumbles didn't help. But I but I agree with Lee. I think there's way too many teams in the league that try to make their whole team quarterback dependent. Like the the savior quarterback mentality. And that's not what Houston needs right now. They just they need they need the Trent Dilfer type to come in, move the chains. if The way Jackson Dart played, if they had that, Super Bowl contender. They just need someone to move the chains, don't turn the ball over, get some first downs, and let the defense put them in favorable positions more times than not.
Lincoln: I leave that alone, man. Leave that alone.
Lee Glass: What the
Lincoln: Leave that alone. All right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And I and I'm and I'm not a fan of the meathead, but I gotta give the man credit how
Lee Glass: Look, here's the thing.
Donald "Doc" Glass: he played, so
Lee Glass: I'm I'm not
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: a fan I'm not a fan of CJ Stroud. I'm not an advocate for CJ Stroud, right? But what I'm talking
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, I get I get. Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: about is is just building a good roster and understanding that there's only so many quarterbacks quarterbacks out there that you can get to be a bona
Lincoln: Right, right.
Lee Glass: fide superstar at that position. There's only so
Lincoln: I get it.
Lee Glass: if you if you want to wait and try to get one while you already have this this ready-made Super Bowl defense or what we think is a Super Bowl defense.
Lincoln: Yeah, super. Yeah.
Lee Glass: then you can your window's gonna pass.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I I g I get it. I I
Lee Glass: But in order for you to make right but in in order for you to make comments like that, not you, but I'm talking about like like CJ Gardner Johnson and all these all these other guys that,
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: you know, CJ Stroud this, CJ Stroud that, I'm like, but your your defense gotta hold up the end of the bargain.
Lincoln: They do. They do. They gotta hold they gotta hold up. They gotta hold up. The Indianapolis Colts defense wasn't holding up because Lamar Jackson you know, looked really good in this game. Indianapolis Colts let me see here. I'm looking at some see if I can look this up. Lamar Jackson, 324 yards. got sacked twice, one touchdown. Derrick Henry was running all over him twenty four for one forty four, three touchdowns. Baltimore you know, for for the the new revamped offense and and and how they look. I I think I think Baltimore is gonna be a a tougher team here. and might have more resolve. They just needed something different. They needed something different. Harbaugh was stale. They needed to get him out of there and and move on. So I'm looking at I I'm looking at Baltimore in this division, actually to win this division, I I think I think it's gonna be one of those that just bounces their way. But Lamar Jackson looked good. I think Derek Henry did his thing. Daniel Jones, I don't know. I I'm I'm you know I I I I I don't know what to say. He's coming back off injury, but anyway, he he he was okay. You know, it wasn't anything or shattering, so I'll leave it there.
Donald "Doc" Glass: It's always interesting when you get these defensive minded head coaches. How they they they run the ball. so Derek Henry getting his carries, 24 for 144, three touchdowns. Gives Lamar less work to do. The offense does better and they put up 41 points. Right? So you're thinking, 41 points. They must who's who's the head coach? Defensive guy. But no, it's like you just let let Derek Henry cook. Right? So it'll be interesting to see how much they keep doing that and kind of relieving that pressure off of Lamar so Lamar can just make a few plays per game. Like Lamar Jackson shouldn't be throwing 40 passes a game. Like as talented as he is, like twenty five attempts to thirty attempts is like perfect for him. That's a sweet spot. And if it's less, that means they've been running the ball
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: so well he had to throw. So and then as for yeah,
Lee Glass: That's
Donald "Doc" Glass: like
Lee Glass: So Baltimore Ravens, Declan Doyle. He is their offensive coordinator.
Lincoln: Mm.
Lee Glass: by way of Chicago Bears spending time with Ben Johnson.
Lincoln: Yeah. Young fellow, right?
Lee Glass: right. Denver Broncos spending time with Sean Payton, right? So he's he's been with some pretty bright, innovative offensive offensive mind minded coaches. And from what I was hearing in Kemp, you know, from Lamar Jackson, those guys in the reports, that he they were all impressed with the with the schemes and and the plays that he was putting together, being able to, you know, they they've injected a lot more play action. they keep you know, having Lamar Jackson now understand a little bit more, using a lot of motion. What we did see in this game was they they were utilizing flowers. He almost like like
Lincoln: Save floods together.
Lee Glass: a Tyreek Hill type of type of player. motioning him, getting him deep, getting him in space, you know, allowing him to make plays with his speed, and he looked like what we expected Flowers to be in years past, which he you know, the the potential that we had for him that he didn't meet those years look like he's now able to to hit those those marks in this in this offense. So Declan Doyle, I know we know Minter is the head coach. He's like you said, Lynx, he's defended defensive minded, but Declan Doyle, he's the mastermind now behind his offense. And I think this season is gonna be a problem until people can kind of catch up with it. And he may be one and done there, to be honest with you. If
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: this continues, he isn't gonna be there long.
Lincoln: Right. Yeah. Yeah. I you know, Why why is Deshaun Watson even the quarterback and going to be the quarterback again in week two? You know, I I i this is this is coming down from ownership, right? Yeah, there obviously we know and and it has to be they wanna try and recruit something, you know, for the money they paid him, two hundred and seven million, they wanna re try to recruit whatever. Pl if they know what is good for the franchise. Do not let him play in week three when they are home. Please. Please, Cleveland, you gotta You gotta listen. They are gonna lose
Donald "Doc" Glass: I wanna see it.
Lincoln: they are going to lose again this week. it don't even matter who they play, they're gonna lose as long as Deshaun Watson is a quarterback. It don't it don't even matter. so th th they after these two games I I think the experiment will be over and then you just you just bring Shadoi and and then you know y'all look to the look to the future or look what y'all gonna do at another QB spot. Anyway, Trevor Lawrence, I mean, look good. i Deshaun Watson just look horrible. First play of the game, you throw it right to the to the to to the defender. I mean that I I I I don't know. I don't know what they're seeing there. But again I I obviously it's the it's the pressure of having him play to try and see what they could recruit. But I I don't think anything's gonna happen.
Lee Glass: Well, you know, one of the you know, many rules of business, right? Would but one of is if if you see that you've made a mistake, cut your losses as quickly as possible. Right? And I don't know how long it's gonna take for them to understand whether a s a mistake has been made or not. But them not cutting their losses with Deshaun at this point is seems to be doing more harm than good. Unless there's just something we're not seeing. But based off of what you know, what we saw in the in the preseason, it carried over into this game. Deshaun just seems not to have he he just doesn't have it anymore. And and and that hurts me to say that because I I I've been a believer of him for years, right? All you know, off field stuff aside, what I saw when he's with the Texans, especially that last year he was there, you know, the full f the the last full season he played. I just thought the sky's the limit for this guy when he, you know, given given a good team and and and better circumstances. So week one, he he just seemed out of sorts again. And you got Deshaun, you have Shador Jackson just sitting there in the background, everybody's like waiting for him to get his chance. And even Dylan Gabriel looked better than the two of them during his last
Lincoln: Yeah, then both of a part.
Lee Glass: preseason game. So I don't know if if they're playing him solely because of the fact that they paid him all that money, then I think that's that's just bad business. Because I think long term it'll be better for you to cut that loss and and move forward with what you got and just eat it. But I guess when you when you're a broke billionaire, and I know that's a oxymoron, but that that's how that's the mentality that I'm getting right now, you know? that
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: he he feels like he gotta squeeze every penny. out of Deshaun that he can right, you know, at the behest of the fans and and everybody else who knows that he's just not not capable right now to be playing start to be the starting quarterback.
Donald "Doc" Glass: the investor with Berkshire Hathaway, right? Still drives a old beat up, you know, pickup truck and got his little small little h home, right? And it's like, hey, some people are rich and they'll call them cheap and they don't they don't put the two and two together, right? So for all the money Jerry Jones got, he kept Mike McCarthy the fifth year 'cause he didn't want to cut Mike McCarthy and pay a coach to not coach.
Lee Glass: Coach, right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So he's gonna get that five years of the contract. And with the Cleveland Browns, we paid you five years at 46 mil a year. We're gonna get that last year and that $46 million worth whatever we could get out of it, we're gonna get it out of it. For better or for worse, that seems to be the mentality. Cause I think the three of us would have cut the loss probably before last year. Much less going into this year.
Lincoln: Yeah, it's cool.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Look at the Denver Broncos. They cut their losses with Russell Wilson, ate a whole bunch of money with the salary cap. Right? And they make it to what AFC Championship game? Right? So
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: d I mean you have examples of cutting your losses and things working out because you had that one bad year and now you can move forward. But no, they just they ain't gonna do it. So and You're now still trying to figure out neck 'cause I don't think you're gonna end up paying him a whole bunch of money to come back next year. So now you're gonna play Sanders or Dylan Gabriel
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: or draft someone new and hope they do better than your last few quarterback decisions? Yeah. Good.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Good luck, Cleveland. So
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Hey boy. It's gonna be must see T V week three in Cleveland. I I I'll tell you that for sure.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yes.
Lee Glass: D do do any of you think that Deshaun John Dasha Deshaun Jackson will be on an NFL roster next season?
Donald "Doc" Glass: the show watching next year?
Lee Glass: Yeah. Deshaun Watson,
Lincoln: Sean Watson. Yeah.
Lee Glass: yeah.
Lincoln: I I can't
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yes. As a backup, not starting, but yes. Someone will take a flyer on him.
Lee Glass: You think someone will pick him up as a backup?
Donald "Doc" Glass: Someone take a flyer on him. It's the NFL.
Lincoln: I I say no.
Donald "Doc" Glass: They can't help you.
Lee Glass: 'Cause I I 'cause I I have I have a sense right now that he's playing for his career right now. Like if he
Lincoln: He is.
Lee Glass: doesn't show something that because of you know, the stigma and the off the field issues that that he's had over the years and then the two Achilles and the injuries and all that stuff, don't don't know if anyone's gonna take the risk of, you know, get you know, having their fan base getting enraged and sighted. Right, by having him on their roster.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. I say no, I don't know, I don't I don't think he this next game, Falcons thirteen, Steelers twenty. That's all I got. That's all I got. That's
Lee Glass: Come on, man. That's all you got?
Lincoln: all that's it. That's it. That's it. I mean, look, old man old man had a game for, you know, two hundred and twenty tw twenty four attempts I mean twenty four good completions for f forty attempts, two hundred and twenty one yards, one touchdown, two sacks, eighty three point four passer rating. I mean, you know, i i th th we I already knew the falcons wasn't gonna do anything. The Falcons don't even have a quarterback. So, you know And and they still was was d w I mean, was right there. Right? So it
Lee Glass: It was right there. It was close.
Lincoln: was they they was close. So I don't know man. I I don't I that's all I got man. I ain't got anything else.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I don't I don't know if it reflects worse on the Falcons or the Steelers that it was this close of a game and yet had a T J Watt interception pick six to seal it. you know, sh shame shameless aside, I I I had it in my fantasy football Kyle Pitts as my tight end
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: and I might as well just not put someone to play tight end because he did get one target, but ain't he made no ain't made no yards, no catches. With Cooper Rush playing quarterback, who usually from his time with the Cowboys is at least a competent backup, but the the two interceptions, he he he's he will not win you games throwing two interceptions. and so for all the work BJ Rob Bijan Robinson did, it's like, yeah, you Cooper Rush is not that good of a quarterback to overcome two picks, including a pick six, and that's the score. They're twenty thirteen. So I guess
Lee Glass: Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I'm happy for Mike McCarthy that he won his first game at home with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but no, I'm not I yeah, I'm I'm at best conflicted on Mike McCarthy as a coach. So I think it's just more on the Falcons given giving away an opportunity to beat Pittsburgh at home. So
Lee Glass: I I didn't expect the Falcons to win this game and and the fact that it was as close as it was was a you know was a surprise within itself, right? you know, Co Cooper Rush, he got kind of thrown in there and he had there was no expectations for him to to be playing this early in the season at all. And I and I know, you know, in order to get re you gotta stay ready, right? but I I I just think the plan that the Falcons had coming in, again hinging everything on tour was just a flat out mistake. and it's coming to roost, at least for this week one, because of that. Bijon had a really good game, all things considered. But I think everybody else suffered because now, you know, Bijan is closest to the ball as a running back. She can get the ball in his hand more so than with London and Pitt and all this all those other guys. They're more dependent on the quarterback being functional and everything else working in order for them to to get their opportunities. And that just didn't materialize. But what I found interesting in this was on the Steelers side is that I I still don't know why Aaron Rodgers in this is year what twenty? Twenty one? Right?
Lincoln: So, yeah.
Lee Glass: Right, something like why are you giving why is he throwing why is why does he have forty attempts? Why is
Lincoln: 40 attempts.
Lee Glass: he throwing the ball forty times?
Lincoln: any sense.
Lee Glass: Don't make no sense. Okay, so because look, he's not VP Aaron Aaron Rodgers anymore. He yeah, he can he's smart, I get that, but you guys, you got they better bacon the run. W j Warren only had ten attempts, Dowdle had eight attempts, and then the next person with three attempts was Rogers himself rushing the ball. So, y'all, they
Lincoln: That's crazy.
Lee Glass: they they need to pick this running game up if they if they want to make some kind of because they're not gonna beat. The ravens, you know, operating like this.
Lincoln: Mm-mm, mm-mm, mm-mm, no way.
Donald "Doc" Glass: You you you y you you think you think at the line of scrimmage these was passing plays called and he's just running what McCarthy's putting in there or he's taking some creative liberties with the offense and changing plays as he sees fit.
Lee Glass: He's changing plays. We know that's his MO. We know that's his MO. He changing all them doggone plays.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Forty year old Willie Beaman.
Lincoln: He got to change the place. mean, my man probably he lied about having a playbook. he got to change.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: McCarthy, McCarthy. Yeah. But
Lincoln: Talk to you back. Yeah.
Lee Glass: no, but but but again, sh sh a little bit, you know, this shame on the Steelers for not having a a proper succession plan at that quarterback position. You've had ample time, ample time
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: to find a successor. And you still, you know, you still waiting. You they better
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: hope Drew Aller becomes something. Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, for real.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep.
Lincoln: Yeah, but, JTS jets, jets, jets, man. you know, Smith look good. You know, Smith look good. Bruce Hall was killing them. I, I, you know, but again, this was against the Titans, right? you know, you, you, you, had, yeah, I can't more passing the ball itself. I mean, you know, I don't expect anything from Tennessee right now. mean, Robert Sala, he's going to get them straight. They're going to be all right. They will be all right at some point. I think Robert Sala will get the Titans right at some point, but not right now. The Jets just beat up on them. And I like how Gino was playing. Let's see if the Jets could keep this up, I know Aaron Glenn is coaching for his life. So Gino being back there could probably stabilize the quarterback position and get them a couple more wins. So Aaron Glenn could keep his job.
Lee Glass: Yeah, Breeswall had a good game. 22 attempts, 102 yards, touchdown. Geno Smith, competent game. Happy for him. He kept the stip the the ship steady. their defense, to your point, the defense is what really kind of carried them through this whole thing. That defense looks stout, looks good. did they get a turnover? still, still no interceptions. Not interceptions yet. So we
Donald "Doc" Glass: No interception. No interception. Still I'm waiting for it.
Lee Glass: So we we're what nineteen games and counting? Or is it eighteen?
Lincoln: Yep.
Lee Glass: Eighteen? Eighteen games? Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Eighteen. Eighteen and counting. No.
Lee Glass: They did get a fum No. No fumble.
Lincoln: No fumble. Fumble lost. And he recovered.
Lee Glass: No no turnovers at all. Yeah. No, no, no, no. No. They they they they got a fumble. They they they recovered a fumble. So
Donald "Doc" Glass: They recover the fumble. Just no interceptions.
Lee Glass: right. But but no, good, good on the defense. A lot of young players. Yep, your boy Kenyon Sadiq, he he scored a touchdown. Believe on a reverse. But yeah, man. I'm I'm a little bit disappointed with Tennessee. wanted to see Ward do a little bit more now that he got Dayball as his offensive coordinator. But the offense I guess it's it's gonna take some time for that to start clicking, but I'm I'm rooting for for Robert Solomon. I I'm I'm really hoping that he he's able to to get something done with this team.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. I I think with the Titans, you know, on the offensive side, they're starting to get some, you know, skill position players around Cam Ward. They need to shore up the offensive line and then hopefully Sala will get the defense competent to good fairly quickly and then they'll be a respectable team, right?
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: but they still gotta they still got a ways to go before they even start thinking of like playoffs much less contention. So
Lee Glass: Playoffs? Don't you want to win a
Donald "Doc" Glass: Playoffs? Time on playoffs? Playoffs? I just hope we win a game.
Lincoln: Hmm, right off.
Lee Glass: game?
Lincoln: Hey, Arizona is in first place in the NFC West man.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Tied for first. T don't don't get him that much credit. Tied for first.
Lincoln: I got you, man, I got you. It's going by alphabetical order, they at the top.
Lee Glass: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: It's good to see some of these older quarterbacks. got Jacoby Percet in Arizona, kind of settling things down there a little bit. rookie running back, got a start, you know, and wouldn't really have 11 for 41, one touchdown. Yep. So,
Lee Glass: Yeah, touch and a touch and a and a touchdown, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: My touchdown. Yep.
Lincoln: yep. So that's, that's pretty, that's a pretty good, pretty good first outing man. Trey McBride always, you know, solid and receiving core. So Lee, like you said, you know, these guys were actually executing and they, and they, and they look good. I was disappointed. I was disappointed in, in, in, in, My boy, Justin Herbert. Yeah, Justin Herbert. I was
Lee Glass: Your boy Herbert. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Just an A bear?
Lincoln: highly disappointed because, you know, he's supposed to be a top 10 quarterback. And, you know, I was highly disappointed. So I don't know if this is just starting out or what this is looking like again. Like we all say, this is game one. We'll see what happens. you know, Arizona. Hey. It's one game, but hey, they're doing their thing.
Lee Glass: And and and technically they're in second place. they they share the same record with forty niners and s and and and Seattle Rams, so they are scraping the barrel right now. But that I think the differentiator right now are points. yeah. so no, division, divisional win. The forty nine'cause because they beat the Rams in the division game. They they
Lincoln: I got you.
Lee Glass: got that and then it's points. But but no, they they like I said at the beginning of the podcast they they look competent. They look good. They they they look efficient. They executing the the plays, minimizing penalties, establishing the run, unlike the Steelers. And and Brissett. Brissett is taking care of the ball. So
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: with that said, you're right about the Chargers, man. The Chargers look the complete opposite. Mike McDaniel, he was everyone's kind of ranting and raving about him being there and, you know, putting to this offense together. This is the first time he had a quarterback that had a high powered arm and the things he's gonna be able to do and, you know, activate with his with his with his game plan now that he has someone like Herbert running the show. And we ain't seeing none of that. I mean, none of it. Not even close.
Lincoln: Mmm. Yum. Mmm.
Lee Glass: The the running game was shoddy, the offensive line couldn't protect. Justin Herbert was rushing his plays and making bad decisions. yeah, they they looked sloppy. And Harbor did not look pleased. Actually he looked confused himself.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, he was trying to figure out what's going on.
Donald "Doc" Glass: At some point we gotta start wondering about Justin Herbert. Is he gonna be one of those guys, like I don't wanna say the greatest that never was, but for the talent that he has, we don't see the production. Right? For the talent that he has, can make every throw. Is what near like what nearest year six, year seven? I think maybe one playoff win, if that. You got a really good coach
Lincoln: If that's...
Donald "Doc" Glass: in Jim Harbaugh, you got a really good O. C. now at some point, you know, you are what you are. So
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: it it's week one of this season, but it's not starting off well for all the hopes that Charger Nation had. So just leave it at that.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Miami Dolphins, you know, loss of the Raiders 2713 Malik Willis 15 for 27, 220 yards, one interception, five sacks. Look, this was this was a game I really wasn't that interested in. But You know, I didn't expect Miami to win the game. I think I had picked the Raiders anyway to win this game. So, you know, it, it, it, just proved what to me what, what they were. Kirk cousins didn't do anything, you know, phenomenal, but Ashton Gentey had a, had a, had a game for himself. I think, you know, Ashton Gentey was, you know, catching ball out the backfields. He was, he was doing really well. So, definitely a big difference from. from last year. And now, know, they might get him on a roll and get him running. And if they could do that and Kirk Cousins can just continue to be Kirk Cousins, then you never know where the Raiders could go.
Lee Glass: So, I mean, let let's be frank, the the the Miami Dolphins front office didn't expect to win this game either. w not with the the personnel they put out there this offseason. Look, hey, they they they put up somewhat of a fight. I feel bad for Malik Willis because you know he this is his shot. This is this this was his chance to, you know, run a team to be the guy, to be the franchise guy, and they surround him with nothing. he led the team in in rushes and and rushing yards as well with just 39 yards. They just paid Achan all that money during the offseason. He only had eleven attempts with 36, no touchdowns. they got receivers Douglas and Washington, right? I there's nobody there. There's nobody there. I I just don't see how with the way this team has been constructed, how they can even put up much of a of a fight for the duration of the season. I said it during the offseason that I think they're just playing for for picks for the first round pick in this upcoming draft. And nothing that I've seen during this game has made me think otherwise. As for the Raiders, Kirk Cousin, yeah, he had a good game, three touchdowns, two interceptions. to your point, Genty, he played, he balled out. I think he had two receiving touchdowns.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: but they don't s they they don't impress me either. Not not yet. Not yet. Kubiak is calling some good plays though. The plays
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: that he's calling and the the the personnel that he's putting out and the way that he is running his schemes and he's masking them. from what I'm seeing, he's he's I think it's as it matures and it manifests itself during the course of the season, if cousins can continue to evolve with it, it's gonna be a pretty good offense. But he's just keeping keeping the ball warm for Mendoza.
Lincoln: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Hey, hey Malik Willis. You really want to be a starting quarterback? Yes. You'll play on any team? Any team. I just want to start. Any team? Cause the Dolphins will sign you. Okay, well at least they got Tyre Yeah, don't forget Tyreek had that knee injury. okay. Well at least they got Jalen Waddle. Yeah, about about Waddle. We we g we gonna trade him away. So who I got to throw to? Hey, you said you wanted to start So good luck. Right? not quite sure I understand what the what the Dolphins are doing. Not the first time I've said that. Won't be the last time I'm gonna say it. Where you get your quarterback, you know, but there's no one from the throw to. He may be decent enough to win some games, but that needs to be a superhuman effort. I don't think he's that good. I I want to keep tabs. doing survivor football like week to week, but just picking whoever the dolphins are playing and seeing how far you would go. 'Cause right now you're you you're you're winning your winning streak is one. 'Cause they don't have much on defense and besides A chain, they don't have much on offense and We'll we'll see what happens. But this may be a very well orchestrated race for the bottom to try to get someone in the college ranks and see how things go, but yeah, we'll see.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, definitely. Doc, I pick you guys to win obviously with Kyle Murray. Would y'all like Carson Wentz? Y'all
Donald "Doc" Glass: We won with Yug Eye. Yug eye.
Lincoln: want Carson Wentz, That was impressive. I mean, if you could win with Carson Wentz, you could win with anybody. So, I mean.
Donald "Doc" Glass: No no, that's not true. Don't forget last season.
Lee Glass: Come on links. Come on man. Come on. Come on. That's low.
Lincoln: Anyway, let me get hey,
Donald "Doc" Glass: I forget last season.
Lincoln: but let me let me let me give Carson his props my hey, yeah He played played a solid game. Yeah, you know help you guys out step in there for Kyle Murray Don't know how long Kyle is gonna be out doc. Maybe you could get into that but Carson Wentz did his thing I'm looking here Justin Jefferson, you know eight for ninety two two touchdowns. So he should be happy should be happy with with that you know, wish, I wish Kyle Murray, you know, the best coming back. Hopefully he could, he could get back in there, but Carson Wentz is comfortable to, to hold on to Fort, man. So congrats on that, on that win. Green Bay, I just, I'm not so along Green Bay in any shape, form or fashion. So I won't be surprised if they come last
Lee Glass: Interesting.
Lincoln: in this division.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Th this was a good game. It was what I wanna say back and forth, but Christian Watson was was hurting us. And then at some point Brian Flores started calling up some exotic blitzes. And next, you know, it was three-out turnover, Viking score, Viking score, and all of a sudden we just pulled away, right? The Our defense was last year was seventh. Best in points allowed, even with the abysmal offense that we had last year, and third in terms of yards allowed. We have a top 10 to almost top five defense. It just gets obscured because the offense wasn't good, right? And I would love at some point for Kevin O'Connell to realize this is not an offensive-led team. Like cater to
Lincoln: Great.
Donald "Doc" Glass: the defense, which we had to do because Calamori went down, and a Competent quarterback and Carson Wentz just kept us in it and the defense won the game for us. Right?
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And we will win most games doing that unless you have a an amazing veteran quarterback like a Matthew Stafford who's seen it all. Quarterback who runs around like crazy and makes plays off script like Williams, just why I want to see what happens when you play the Bears this week, right? Or a team that just runs
Lee Glass: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: the ball so much, we never get
Lincoln: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: the third and long. To bring the pressure, but he was bringing pressure on first and ten. And for some reason, J Jordan Leff had no idea what to do. But it was just kind of surprising because I I consider
Lincoln: and not surprise.
Donald "Doc" Glass: him a vet now. But we'll we'll see what happens with Kyler. They're not saying whether he's in concussion protocol. Supposedly he was, you know, talking and joking with folks after the game, so it doesn't seem, you know, cataclysmic with the with the concussion, but If if it's Carson Wentz for another game or two, I'm happy to rule with Carson Wentz. run the ball, move the chains, don't put the defense in bad positions, and we'll see how things go. But we we we should be a defensive-minded team. And for whatever reason, KOC still wants this to be offense first, pass first, and he I don't think he's really seeing the force for the trees. So and and hopefully for his sake This is Brian Flores's last year as defensive coordinator. But the longer there's issues with him suing the league and you know, all all that stuff, we fortunately, unfortunately get the benefit of having a really good head coach as our DC for another year. So
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Yeah, I mean, well, with Kyler Murray, I hope he he makes it back sooner rather than later. But it it did look pretty bad when watching the play. and I think n Doc, you you alluded to this at the beginning of the park. He he needs to learn how to slide. 'Cause he he didn't slide f feet first, he kinda just crouched and that's why he took that that shot the way that he did. And then I think he exhibited like a a fencing posture, which indicative like classic concussion
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep. Yep.
Lee Glass: because of that so that's why it looked really bad at the time but that aside you guys k KOC he he made the adjustment with Wentz relied on the defense got really good field position because of it you know executed and took advantage of that you guys put up thirty nine points thirty nine points that's that was pretty good If you allow Bli Brian Flores to just take over and but I mean let let his unit do their thing and become more defensive oriented as a team, holistically, similar to the Texans, similar to Seattle, you guys you have a have a pretty good season. And I just want to say Justin Jefferson, I think, is the best wide receiver in the entire league. Because watching him, seeing the things that he can do. just he he makes any quarterback look good
Donald "Doc" Glass: Look good.
Lee Glass: if they just give him a chance to get the ball. That's all. You just gotta throw it up. Just give him a chance and
Donald "Doc" Glass: Not
Lee Glass: and he comes down with it. So really good game for you guys. Green Bay didn't look good. they started off hot to your point, Kristen Watson. He had an 81 yard touchdown, which that was electric. That was that was it looked like the game was gonna get blown out. and then I think you had another touchdown a bit later, but Jordan Love just doesn't seem to be making the right decisions for a veteran. He's like a boomer bust, he can make a big play, but then he comes back and makes some bonehead decisions. and for all the weapons they have out there, still with you know, Golden and and all those other guys, cr craft at the tight end, they're just not making the critical plays at the right time. And of course they're missing Michael Parsons on the defense, which I don't think that would have made much of a difference in this game anyway. right. But I
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lee Glass: I I I I agree. I think in that NFC North, which I think that is probably the toughest is d the division in in all of football right now, the NFC North. the Packers could see themselves, you know, looking up at looking up at the other three at this point in time.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: By the end of the season, actually.
Lincoln: Yeah. Jordan love equals CJ Straub. Why does Kyle Murray not know how to slide when he played baseball
Lee Glass: He played baseball.
Lincoln: at an elite level?
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yes.
Lincoln: How does that even happen? I don't know. But you know, he played baseball, was drafted by the Oakland Athletics and
Lee Glass: Yeah he did. Yeah he did.
Lincoln: I, I, anyway, you know, get it together Kyler, you know, hey, Godspeed for you. Hopefully you, you get yourself back healthy and get back out there, but you know how to slide. I mean, come on. You know how to slide. All right. This was, this was too close for comfort. You know, my egos pulled it off 24, 22. It was too close for comfort. Jaden Daniels, Jaden Daniels, you know, he had some flashes there. Wasn't really. You know, all that had a couple of flashes in there. Their defense played very well. Our offensive line is shoddy play. Awful. Just, just God awful. I'm surprised. You know, we even won this game based on our O line play. Landon Dickerson is going on IR because again, just like Miles Garrett tried to play and he was like, I know I almost cost the team. Yeah, you did. You did. but you know, cause I was pissed, but, Hey, we pulled it out last minute. Defense was playing well. Jalen hurts is Jalen hurts, man. and AJ Brown is talking when Dantavian wicks now got the longest pass of his career by who Jalen hurts. Come on, man. I'll put some respect on Jalen hurts, man. 24 22. It's a division game, right? It's a division game. So This could have went anyway. Anyway, it could have gone. But if we had better offensive line play that could have got Saquon going, then I think that we could have went away with this another touchdown. anyway, I'll take it. I'll take it. They could win 24-22. But Jaden Daniels, I think he's coming along. He'll come along. He'll do his thing. You know, I was just surprised by their defense. They got some nice little rookie pieces. on there so it's gonna be interesting going on the stretch man but hey a w is a w i'll take it
Lee Glass: They almost pulled
Donald "Doc" Glass: Fox.
Lee Glass: this one out. Go go ahead, Doc.
Donald "Doc" Glass: No, as the folk folks seem to folks still seem to be sleeping on Dan Quinn. Like he is a really good defensive minded head coach, right? And so, not surprised the defense looks better, even better this year. they're using Sunny styles, right? Jaden Daniels will make some plays. I think they just need to kind of figure that offense out just a little bit more. but yeah, but you know, you guys division rival, you you eked it out. A win is a win. You move on. I I don't know if you're impressed with your offensive coordinator's play call in your new O. C.
Lincoln: He alright. He did alright. You know, he did alright. I think he put a couple things together, you know. He did alright.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Great guys.
Lee Glass: Barkley had 83 yards rushing, 15 attempts.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: He averaged five yards of 5.5
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lee Glass: yards of rush. That's that's good. Hertz had three touchdowns passing. And he was and and and he was using his legs, forty forty-six yards on the ground. I I need
Lincoln: I was happy to see you.
Lee Glass: y'all to get the ball to Devontae Smith a little bit more though.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Devontae, yeah, we got to get him going. We got to get him going. We got to get him going. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Y'all got to get him going. This is strictly a fantasy football request. Okay? Strictly a fantasy football request. Y'all gotta get him going, Lynx. Come on, man. I need that. But
Lincoln: I figured, figured, I figured. Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: Goddard, Goddard, man. Like, you know what? And every every year, somehow I forget about him. And then he just
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: keeps like, and and
Donald "Doc" Glass: Making players.
Lee Glass: y'all do this. Like over the past 10 years, y'all have really good tight end play going from Ertz.
Lincoln: Tight in.
Lee Glass: Right.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Now the Goddard. And Goddard is like like he he reminds me of like you know, like Travis Kelsey. The way that he
Lincoln: Mm-hmm, he's solid, dude.
Lee Glass: plays, the way that you guys can can utilize him in motion, and he can take those those those pitches, those underhand, underneath throws, and you know, scoot
Lincoln: Yep. Yep.
Lee Glass: him for the touchdown. Like he is a really good, like overall utility slash tight end, you know? So
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: yeah, man, Dontavian Wix, he Two catches. Yeah, you know, 70, 70, two catches, 73 yards. He had a big play, two catches, but
Lincoln: Yeah, it's alright. Yeah, you had one big bite.
Lee Glass: we'll see if he he stays consistent. Those plays need to go to Devon Devontae Smith, though. That's that's that's all I'm gonna say. They need to go to Devontae Smith. But
Lincoln: Hehehehehe
Lee Glass: as for the commanders, Jaden Daniels, he, you know, it was a little bit of a slow start coming off the injury. But what is really good about Jaden Daniels where he's excellent in the clutch.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: And you you and I know you you are not comfortable with the ball in his hand at the end of the game.
Lincoln: No.
Lee Glass: Even though they didn't convert that two point that two point conversion, you still
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: know that when did Jaden Daniels have the ball, like it more often than not, he's gonna make the play.
Lincoln: Yep. Yep.
Lee Glass: I just think that was a bad play call that they made. But outside of that, I just don't see anything on the commander's offense outside of Jaden Daniel that That really excites me, right?
Lincoln: you
Lee Glass: yeah, they got Dig we need to talk about Diggs too, right? So Diggs had that that touchdown a
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: little bit earlier. they were gonna go for the two-point conversion earlier after that touchdown, but he made that silly touch touchdown celebration that caused them, you know,
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, Trump on the post school.
Lee Glass: caused the penalty that had to move the ball back and had to kick a 48-yard point after touch.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: So that kind of put them out the out the running to try to. Get the two point conversion earlier and then negotiate
Lincoln: Right.
Lee Glass: what they were gonna do, you're right. going forward. So a little bit disappointed in in in Stephon Diggs, but that's kind of his MO. He makes bonehead decisions even as a as a veteran, skillful wide receiver, but
Lincoln: Yep. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: in those critical moments you gotta you gotta be better.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: outside of that, yeah, it was it was a solid win. Solid win.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, actually on that last play that shovel that the Eagles stop. If you look at the play, I watched it like 10 times. There was a receiver. There was a running back opening the flat to the left. If Jaden
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: Daniels do like that. They score easy walk in, but I guess they the call the call was the shovel. Yep, that was the plate and so. There's yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Jeez. That's the play. That's the play. Yeah. There's there's no other option. Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: That's not the play. That's not the play. Yep. There's no other option.
Lincoln: So, but if he would have looked to the left and improvise a little bit, dude was wide open. Nobody around him. Nobody was there. So, you know, that was a busted play. I know he was tunnel vision
Donald "Doc" Glass: He's not Aaron Rodgers.
Lincoln: on that, hey,
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: look, you know, I'm just glad he did the shovel. I was glad he shoveled it. So,
Lee Glass: I bet you are.
Lincoln: yeah, yeah. That's good. We're going to stick in the NFC East, man, these last two games. Cowboys and the Giants. Cam Scatterboo with the back flip. Cam Scatterboo, Hey, based off of last year with that gruesome ankle flopping, boy, with that injury and him coming back, man, the Giants are going to be a problem. The Giants are going to be a problem. I wasn't expecting this, but you know, the Giants look like they are going to be a problem. If Jackson Dart can continue to keep himself upright and, you know, get out of bounds, go down, slide and let the defense and let, you know, Scadaboo and neighbors and those guys do that thing. They are going to be a problem. think they're looking at all these games. They're going to be the biggest problem out of anybody in the NFC East. I think, I think it's the Giants over everybody else. know Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys.
Donald "Doc" Glass: For the Eagles.
Lee Glass: What?
Donald "Doc" Glass: For the Eagles. For the Eagles. Yeah, for the Eagles. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So totally objective. Totally objective. So
Lee Glass: big biggest problem for the Eagles.
Lincoln: For the Eagles, for the Eagles. Yes, for the Eagles, for the Eagles. yeah, for the Eagles. Yeah, yeah,
Lee Glass: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lincoln: yeah, yeah, yeah. The Cowboys, ain't nobody. So, you know, it didn't surprise me, didn't shock me that they lost this game because I already knew from the snap, from the beginning, snap, you know, and I look at the Cowboys, I was like, they're not gonna win this game. They're not gonna win. I already knew it for all the Super Bowl talk for all before they were interviewing their fans before the game Super Bowl we going undefeated, know this and that after the game man, you know, we're gonna make the playoffs playing like this I could have told y'all that I could have told y'all that back in Back in January. Yeah, y'all wasn't gonna win. So anyway Giants man, Giants look good. I like the little team. I like like the scrappiness, I like that they're fighting and they got something to prove. Jim Harbaugh coming there, he needed a new environment. maybe he could stabilize this thing and we'll see where they go, man. We'll see where they go.
Lee Glass: So so l let me let me let me jump in real quick.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: So Dak during the during training camp, he he introduced a nickname for the offense, right? Called him Gotti. Right. You you know what Gaudy means. Right. Gaudi is
Lincoln: No, I did.
Lee Glass: greatest offense there is. That that that that was the moniker
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep. Yep.
Lee Glass: he gave their offense during training camp. And that was his expectation coming into the season on how this offense was supposed to perform. So I read these articles and I was waiting to see what this was gonna look like. Gotti, greatest offense there is. and and he had the nerve to compare them to the greatest show on turf. Say, why can't we be them? Why can't we be that? Right? So I said,
Lincoln: wow. Wow. Yeah, wow.
Lee Glass: let's let's let's let's see this, right? Greatest show on turf, 2.0. So we got what 22 of 34, 175 yards, two touchdowns, one interception. rushing was yeah. Okay, 41 yards by Williams. He did get a touchdown. But you got CD Lamb, 44 yards, one touchdown. Williams is the only other receiving player of note in the in the statistical category. Pickens had three receptions for 28, no touchdowns. Okay. That offense didn't look like it was great at anything. the Giants
Lincoln: Mm-mm.
Lee Glass: looked like they were controlling that whole game. Dart looked like he was the veteran quarterback. making smart decisions,
Lincoln: Yep.
Lee Glass: using his legs at critical moments, not taking, you know, crucial hits, actually playing smart. And you gotta
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: give it up to John Harbor for get make getting his team ready. They're playing tough, you know, gutting it out, making, you know, not making a lot of mistakes. And the Cowboys are the Cowboys, right? All the all the talk during the off season. Okay, this is what we're gonna do, this is what we're gonna be, all these Super Bowl aspirations again. And then they come out and do this. Understand it's only
Lincoln: You don't get it.
Lee Glass: week one, I get it, only week one, but this doesn't look like this, this doesn't have gaudy vibes to me.
Donald "Doc" Glass: It is amazing what happens when your team is coached by a hardball. So they come and they they play in the Cowboys going against going against Gotti. And when you go against a high powered offense, you want to control the clock to limit their offensive possessions. And so they were just running the ball behind Patrick Ricard, three hundred pound fullback, just shoving it down the cowboys' throat, hitting guys in the flat. it's open. Hit him in the flat. it's still open. Hit him in the flat again. it's still open. Hit him in the flat again. Touchdown. Right. And defense played solid. They were hit their tight ends. Likely had eight catches with two touchdowns for 78 yards. Malik Neighbors made some plays. But to Lee's point, they were they controlled that game from start to finish on all sides of the ball. Right? And so for the Cowboys, it's like, hey, Defense-wise, we we had busted coverages. And this the third DC in three years. So at some point, do you have to get other players to play defense? Because if you have three different defensive coordinators in three years and there's busted coverages all three years, it ain't the coaches. It can't it can't be the coaches at this point. Y'all got players who just don't, who seem slow on the uptake. and The offense when it's clicking is amazing. And when it's not, it's it sputters bad. And there seems to be no recourse. You know, they couldn't run the ball with with with with Javante and they couldn't get the ball to the receivers. And they got stymied first right out the block. And so what what happens with the offense? What happens with the defense? The defense held the Giants to 28. Offense only scored twenty. So
Lee Glass: Gotti.
Lincoln: You Thank God,
Donald "Doc" Glass: V versus Ben Johnson talking about you want to be the highest scoring offense of all time, and they put up fifty nine on the road.
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: quarterback says we want to be the greatest offense there is, they put up twenty on the road.
Lee Glass: Gaudi. I can't. It's the the nerve, man. The nerve.
Lincoln: I'm not surprised. Not surprised at all. Not surprised. But I was surprised. Kenneth Walker. 173 yards, Seattle, come on. Kenneth Walker, mean, I know Seattle let him walk because I know they didn't want to pay him, but Look man, he looked shifty. He looked real shifty and you know if he could keep this up for a season, this is going to be Patrick Mahomes biggest, biggest weapon all season. running game finally for the Kansas City Chiefs and with them with the running game. Let me tell you everybody in the AFC better just watch out because you know the Chiefs are going to be back. as the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes had an okay game. know, was okay. know, nothing fancy because he didn't have to do anything because he had a running game. Finally. So, McKennan Walker looked good, man. First week, 173 yards, man. He could have had more. He could have had more. They took him out for a little at the end there, but he could have had more yards. Very impressive win. And the Broncos, Give the play calling back to the head coach man. Give it back. it back. Give it back to Sharpie. Because I
Lee Glass: Sean Beaton, back to Sean Beaton. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that that
Lincoln: thought he was going to take it back at halftime. I thought, yes.
Lee Glass: They did ask him, you know. And they but let me tell you something. These reporters, they they ain't your friend. They're not your friend because they
Donald "Doc" Glass: Nope.
Lincoln: No, no.
Lee Glass: at halftime they actually went and so how do you feel about not calling plays? And that dude had
Lincoln: Got it dirty.
Lee Glass: to I mean, he had to bite his tongue off.
Lincoln: Yeah, they dirty, they dirty. Yeah, but yeah, I did expect him to pull it back at the half, but I guess he's sticking with it. We'll see how long they stick with it, but something got to change there. Chiefs look good. This should have been the AFC Championship game. so we see, again, different dynamics. Chiefs didn't have a running game, now they do. So. Let's see if Chiefs can do. Travis Swift did his thing, three for 71. So yeah, they're doing their thing. I like that Lee, Travis Swift, man. That's a good one.
Lee Glass: Travis Swift. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Nice. Nice. I I'd I'd mentioned this to Lee before we started. It is amazing how great of a running back Kenneth Walker the third has become in two games.
Lincoln: you
Donald "Doc" Glass: Like he went from this tandem guy in Seattle and they get this dual threat thing going and okay, there's you know thunder and lightning or however you want to do it, you know, other guy gets hurt and Chardonnay gets c Charbonnet gets hurt. He ends up toting the rock in a Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP, has a great game of Super Bowl, goes to Kansas City and keeps on going, right? And Watching him run, it is this weird mix of Le'Veon Bell and Marcus Allen. Like the patience to wait for the hole and then to hit it and get yards seems uncanny. It it is it is cool when you see a running back run and they have their style. And it's like I don't see anybody else who runs like that, but you make it work. And he has his style of running. and I I've noted this about Andy Reed. It is cool to see Andy Reid loves to throw the ball unless he has a guy that can run. And if he has a running back, he will feed that running back. When he had Kareem Hunt, I wanna say he might have even had Larry Johnson, but when he has a running back,
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: when he has a running back, he will feed the running back. And so It is a safe bet that Kenneth Walker will get a thousand yards. He may lead the league in Russian. And with with with with with with Patrick Mahomes coming off the injury, they wanna preserve him as best they can and a quarterback's best friend is a running game. And so and with the defense too, you gotta give Kansas City s some some credit. So
Lee Glass: So I I I I wanna say I agree with everything you said except the the running back part with Andy Reid, right? he he he he did have that one season with Kareem Hunt. I think that was his rookie season. that was also the season before Mahomes, right? And I think what's his name? Alex Smith was the quarterback. And so Hunt Hunt did go off that season, but then and then that was it. Andy Reid, from his years with the Eagles, even going into Kansas City, aside from that one season, he does not use running backs. Even when he does have good running, he had some good running backs in in Philly.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: And he did not use those guys, right? I'm not saying they were superstar guys, but he had some good running backs. Okay.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Okay. Okay.
Lee Glass: Now, here's the thing. I would want to give the credit here. To Eric Bienemy. Okay? Because Eric Bienemy now coming back, putting in his imprint on this offense. I think this running game is more of an influence coming from him more so than Andy Reid.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm. And you read.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Because we we haven't seen this from Andy Reid in a long time. Okay. Now, what makes me I'm a little bit puzzled with with Kenneth Walker, like you said, Doc, the past two games, all of a sudden now he's a great back. Going back to his college days in Michigan State, he was a great back then. I remember him dominating against Michigan, going off for five touchdowns in one game. And being able to receive, you know, and he was a he could catch the ball too. Now all of a sudden he goes to Seattle and they wouldn't even put him on the field for passing, passing downs. Come into this game, yeah, he only had three receptions, but he had a receiving touchdown. Okay,
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: so like he's getting more opportunities. And then on top of that, he's a voluminous running back.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Catches.
Lee Glass: where he needs more attempts in order to get to touches to get going. And that timeshare you know stuff with Seattle just it wasn't his, it didn't fit his his style. So he could never really go off the way I knew and anyone
Donald "Doc" Glass: He could.
Lee Glass: who watched him at college knew he could because they kept taking him off the field. The only knock on him, and we're gonna have to see how this goes for the rest of the season is can he stay healthy? He has been hit with the injury bug, you know, a couple of times from Seattle. And maybe that was part of the reason why they wanted to preserve him and
Donald "Doc" Glass: Observe him.
Lee Glass: and keep him off the field. But he looks strong. He looks healthy. He looks like, you know, the guy that I thought he would be coming out of college. Happy for him. And
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: this is gonna be it's it's scary if you I mean, you've given Patrick Mahomes a running game for the first time in his career. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, Yeah, so...
Lee Glass: Broncos didn't look good though. Broncos didn't look
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: good. Broncos
Lincoln: Nope.
Lee Glass: did not Davis Webb, I I know, you know, so Sean Payton, he's trying to delegate. He's trying to be the good, the good boss, the good manager, and tr you know, delegate and and give responsibilities to his guys and try to keep his hand off of it. No, don't do that. Don't
Lincoln: Don't do that.
Lee Glass: do that. You he need you need to take the playground back. If this continues,
Lincoln: Yep.
Lee Glass: Davis Webb is not
Donald "Doc" Glass: Do what you're good at.
Lee Glass: going to be calling plays by week three.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Do what you're good at.
Lincoln: No, no,
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: and it might be too late if you wait that late. So I don't know. Anyway.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Division loss already.
Lee Glass: They they are too they're they're they're too talented for that offense to look as inept as it looked in that game. They're way
Lincoln: Great.
Lee Glass: too talented. They have too many skill guys, big time guys on this field to I mean, Waddle only had three three yards.
Lincoln: Water lads, some drops though.
Lee Glass: No, two. Yeah, two. Yeah, he did. He did. That is and I did talk
Lincoln: He had some drops. had some.
Lee Glass: about that. Remember I talked about that, about the move, and said that they sh
Lincoln: Yep,
Lee Glass: they didn't really need to pay him all that money. They could find they could have found a guy in in in
Donald "Doc" Glass: And draft.
Lee Glass: the draft, right?
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: And and I got eviscerated in the comments for that, but
Lincoln: Yes. Yeah, but yeah,
Lee Glass: You know. It's only week one though. It's only week one.
Lincoln: Hey, there's only week one, but let me tell you, they need to do something. I'm looking now. It don't get any easier for the Broncos because they got the Jaguars coming to town. So it don't get any easier. they better figure it out fast or else it's going to run up on you. But anyway. All right, man. I think we, we, we, we covered the gamut man, covered the gamut. Yep. So, all right fellas.
Lee Glass: We did it. All right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep. Week one in the books.
Lincoln: Yep. be back on the next one.
Lee Glass: In the books, guys, all right. See you on the next one.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Right. Cool.
Lincoln: All right man. Later.
