Donald "Doc" Glass: yeah.
Lee Glass: So
Lincoln: All right, man. So Doc, last time we we we we talked a little bit on the podcast. I know it was a battle going on between Kyler Murray and JJ McCarthy. it seems like guys got your quarterback, man. So is it's been decided that Kyler Murray has won the job. He's gonna be the starter for for you guys. That's gonna be interesting, man. With with Kyler there. Looks like he he really, I guess, took command of the playbook. really, you know, with with with with the system that you guys are running. I know somebody is gonna be happy. and that's Justin Jefferson. At least I could have a competent quarterback here, so now you know, I I can get back to being Justin Jefferson. so Let's see what Kyler Murray is gonna do, man, there in in in in Minnesota. I'm I'm interested to to hear your take on this and and what you believe Kyler Murray is going to to to do for you guys now that he's the outright starter.
Donald "Doc" Glass: f f first off when you name your you have the the quarterback battle and you name your starter before the first preseason game, it wasn't really a battle. Right. You hey, I don't want my starter getting hurt. So he's the you gonna start preseason games, right? for know, the veteran c it's and he's a veteran, but for the vet to come in and take that job
Lincoln: That wasn't a battle.
Lee Glass: Not a battle. Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: That was like, hey, dude, if you don't take like this good this guy's gonna come and take your job, if you don't step up and you don't step up, that that doesn't bode well for for JJ McCarthy. Now again, it it may be he needs a different a different system, a different coaching style, a reset to reevaluate, how to study, maybe the way, you know, Sam Darnold was saying when he was with San Francisco and him learning under I think it was Sam Darnold when he was with ⁓ with ⁓ Jock Brock Purdy, like how to prepare, helped him come to the Vikings and do what he did with the Vikings, right? I think if Kalum Murray is competent, right? Like average quarterback, with the receivers we got, the offensive system, the game, I think, is going to be decent enough move change, not earth-shattering, but decent, reliable. And with the defense we got.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: We could make some noise. We could make some legitimate noise in in the NFC North and in the NFC. Right. I I ain't saying swab bull. But we got a good squad. Like last year we were quarterback deficient and that hurt us. just think the question is, how well can Kyler truly command that offense? We'll see. still think he's got the athletic ability to make plays, keep plays alive. I don't think I can run around all day.
Lincoln: Yeah, You see.
Donald "Doc" Glass: But key plays alive and makes the plays. and then secondly, I say not hurt us, think a quarterback with a really good defense is good. Really, really good. Really great team, great philosophy. old school Jamees Winston the kind of defense got, we gonna lose a bunch of games. So I don't need him trying to come in and try to throw for forty five hundred yards. and thirty touchdowns and then have twenty eight interceptions. But if he's competent, protects the ball, got a good squad. And I'll I'll I'll leave it at that.
Lee Glass: Yeah, I mean the the bar set low, right? Basically I I can't see him being any worse than what you guys had last year. I I don't. you guys were running with like third strings, you had Wentz, you know, playing a couple of games, you had against JJ, he he wasn't really doing much of anything. and you had Justin Jefferson with a thousand receiving and you guys riddling off nine wins. So if Kyler could come in, like you said, and just he he even if even if he's just himself, I'm pretty sure he can add at least at minimum two more wins to win column to get you guys to eleven, right? Based off of what all things being equal, right? You didn't really l ⁓ it not a lot of attrition from last year to this year. You still got a heck of a defensive coordinator and in Flores, you know, running running the show over there. Yeah, I I think Kyle's gonna come in. He's gonna add some juice that offense, make it a little bit more dynamic, get the ball to the plate to the playmakers. And that running game can just support you then this division tough. and we was talking talking about this before the before we started. Looking at last year, you had the Bears with 11 wins. Everybody else had nine wins. Everybody else had nine wins. Right? And everybody in this division has to some capacity leveled up. it's gonna be fun to watch the North. But again, going back to the Vikings, yeah, I expect you guys to win at least 11 games with Kyle Kyler Murray.
Lincoln: I just want to know. I just want to know how does how does Kyler Murray come in? You got the playbook, right? When you got signed, give you the playbook. You know, he gave O'Connell give you, you know, get your get your palate wet. See, you know, the system, you know, ask some questions, whatever, whatever. JJ McCarthy has been there, didn't play in the system again. And how you let somebody else who didn't even know your playbook come in there and outseach you? I mean, it got it this this this this is this is this just crazy. I mean how how how does that happen? Because you gotta learn the playbook. You already you should. JJ should already know all the nuances. Or you know, you should at the at this point. And Kyle Murray just coming in and take this from you? I mean, it had to be bad.
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: It had to be bad. That that that that he he he he just I don't know.
Lee Glass: No, you I mean, good points, right? I have a I have thought on that because JJ McCarthy, he came in this is his third season now, right? He's 23 right now, going into his third season. When he came into the league, he was super young. Not caught not that as an excuse, but I'm just trying to kind of build build something up here in terms of trying to get a a clear view in terms of what we're looking at when it comes to him. He comes in, I think he was like 2021. He out of a Michigan system where he wasn't asked to do much. It was a run first offense in Michigan. Blake Corm was basically the engine behind that that whole system. And ran to set up the pass. There were certain games where he he didn't have even five pass attempts. Okay. They did win the national championship that that year, but again, it wasn't on the of JJ McCarthy. He just was at the helm. So he ran, and it was a pro-style offense. So I think that's what was enamoring about him at that time was that he could run or facilitate a pro-style offense. he had a lot of physical traits that gave the perception as if he could evolve into something. Being that young, being that raw, with the right coach, with the right environment, they could mold him potentially into. a starting caliber type of quarterback. It's just that with Kevin O'Connell, I think he wasn't able to one him to where he wanted him to be, or two, McCarthy just wasn't quick enough to pick up on what was to be done to get to where he needed to be. Or it could just be a combination of both. Right? All that being said, The Vikings probably did a bad job of scouting didn't select the right quarterback to come in and adapt to the system that they were running on the offensive side. Obviously that was the case. So, you know, all of these things culminating into this, you show right that we're seeing right now, which is not a good one, and cause for them to go outside and bring in the Kyler Murray. Lucky for them, you know, one man's trash is another man's treasure, that being The Cardinals thinking, you know, getting rid of him. And it's gonna, you know, it's it's it's really gonna be fascinating to see how Kyler, you know, how he performs in this offense. And then on the flip side, see what the Cardinals are gonna be doing on their side as well. But JJ, I think he still has a lot of football left in him. I think there's still a chance for him to turn his his ⁓ his career around. We've seen it with Baker, we've seen it with with Sam Darnold. We've seen it with Daniel Jones, right? They they went elsewhere and they was able to, you know, salvage their career. It's still very put you know possible for him only being 23. He's not going to be 24 until January, the end of the season. Right. So he's still extremely young. He's he's the same age or younger than some of the quarterbacks that came in this season as rookies. I think he's younger than Carson Beck, the the the quarterback for for the Cardinals. So Th there's still a lot of hope for him. it just it I don't think the Vikings are a good fit. That's why I still believe at some point, either before the season or definitely before the trade deadline, the Vikings could possibly ship him out. Cause I don't think he's even gonna be the number two quarterback. I think they're gonna go in to ⁓ gonna go into this preseason because like Doc said, they wanted they wanted to establish who the number one quarterback was before preseason even started, so that they can save him and not submit him to any potential harm during the preseason. And then they're gonna have Carson Wentz and JJ McCarthy battle it out for that number two. And Carson Wentz could very well beat him out for that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep. But that's actually probably what I what I expect. I think he may be the emergency quarterback. you know, someone gets desperate, they may try to make a trade during the season. More likely it'll be something in the in the off season between years three and four where someone's like, Yeah, we'll flip you a fifth, you know, a fifth or a sixth. with with you had talked about how the Vikings didn't do, you know, due diligence, And and it's it
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: It's getting enamored with the physical tools not really seeing like can this person process the way we need them to process? I think there's, you know, for all the criticisms about Bill Belichick nowadays, especially, he was a coach that would call plays based upon the strengths his players ⁓ and minimize weaknesses. The hard bars tend to do that too. Like gonna get the most out of what they have and they're not gonna make look bad because it hurts the team. Right. But there's a lot of coaches where they have their system, they have their way, and you have to conform to their way. It is it is a it is a round hole, you better be a round peg. They ain't changing nothing for you. And I think unfortunately this is one of those situations where O'Connell, as good as of an offensive play caller as he is, has a hard time tweaking his system. To fit a quarterback if the quarterback can't process all five and eleven on defense at the same time. And so that's what is the suffered suffering last year with JJ McCarthy and also with ⁓ with Max Brosmer, right? 'Cause it that was a true rookie coming in and he didn't look any better. He looked worse than JJ McCarthy, right? So I mean won game with
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: net four yards past an offense. So and that was later in the season when they finally started to adjust the offense. So I agree with you Lee. I think hopefully McCarthy will can go someplace else, new system. then he will learn what it is to be a professional and how to go about his business. I still not sure he even knows how to be a professional, even though he is a professional by definition. I'm not sure he knows how to be a professional.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: took Sam Donald like four years to figure that out, right? So and see where things go. but for for for the Vikings, this this is good. is Kyle Murray who grew up a Vikings fan, now being a starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, right? So and yeah, we go from
Lincoln: You better you better you better hope that you know and and and that's good points on JJ. Good points on JJ. I'm I'm glad you ⁓ you guys backed him up on that. you better hope that he don't find his way to Kansas City, JJ McCarthy, that is. better hope he find his way over there, man. but but but go ahead, go ahead, go what you saying.
Lee Glass: You you you you know you know you know who the you know who the present backup quarterback is for Kansas City, right?
Lincoln: Justin Fields, right?
Lee Glass: Justin Fields, yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: Justin Fields. Yes. Yes. So I'm saying is, you know, ⁓ Reed is one of these guys that likes projects. You know, took on Carson Wentz too. We had to let him go. So that project didn't work. but but ⁓ Andy, Andy, he had He Carson Wentz. He Carson was on on Kansas City.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Strays.
Lee Glass: Andy Reed did know Carson Wentz?
Donald "Doc" Glass: Right.
Lee Glass: Was it
Lincoln: He was in Kansas City for for a year. Yeah. Yeah. He was in Kansas City for a season. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, he was in Kansas City for a season. And and and you see what Andy had to do. So Andy liked projects. So so what I'm saying is just and Justin Fields is a project for Andy. So so he he he he's working with him, but I could see JJ McCarthy with an Andy Reed.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Like a season. Like a season. Yeah. Yeah. Like a season. Yeah. Strays.
Lee Glass: ⁓ got it. Okay, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Yeah, got it, got it. I I'm I'm still thinking Eagles. I'm still thinking Eagles. Yeah, yeah. Okay. All right.
Lincoln: And I think Andy is one of them coaches that could kind of get some stuff of ⁓ JJ McCarthy. I mean, I know ⁓ all know Patrick Mahomes is isn't going anywhere anytime soon, right? But I'm just saying a coach like a Andy Reed is somebody who could who could do something with ⁓ with JJ. But but sticking in the sticking in the north, man. let's let's let's just stay in the north. Cause Lee, I know you wanted to talk about this division. with You know, you got the Vikings, you got the Bears, you got Green Bay, you got Detroit. and I think you the question who who's the who's the worst team in this division? and right ⁓ looking at the worst team in this division, I'm gonna have to say ⁓ no, no, no, I'm gonna have to say Detroit. The reason why I'm I'm saying Detroit. You know, I know Detroit went from from from worse, I mean from first to to worse. And then now they're supposed to bounce back. But I don't think they bounce back like that because these other teams have gotten better. And and now this is hinging on Kyler Murray being here now and and with the Vikings. And like you say, if he could add additional two more wins with all these teams having nine wins, Justin Jefferson going back off. You got the Bears in the second year. ⁓ with their with their coach and you got kayah wins and then you know you got jordan love they they always make the playoffs green bay is right there always ⁓ you know in the playoff hunt I think Detroit could be the team on the outside looking in you know like like like what's going on because you still haven't replaced the th that that offensive and defensive coordinators that left you guys I don't think they really replaced them. I don't I don't I don't know how is going to look and I think they just I think Isaiah Pacheco was their backup running back and he got hurt. So he's he's he's injured. He was supposed to replace the the so I don't yeah he was supposed to replace Montgomery and and I don't I just don't see it and now and then you got you you got your your your running back now is going to be taking the whole load which
Lee Glass: Montgomery, you suppose yeah, but they they don't need him. They don't need him.
Lincoln: we hadn't seen yet and he hadn't done yet in his career. I think Detroit has a lot of question marks. And and I, you know, I'm gonna I would go out on the limb and say Detroit can easily finish fourth in this division. so yeah man, this this this this is a tough division.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. and this is tough me having to say things nice about teams in the division. So, you know, just just just hear me out. and I'm gonna I'm gonna come from a slightly different perspective. I think the team that is honestly it feels like it's a c it's a crapshoot. Like just roll some dice and throw it and see who comes out on top. I think the team that is ⁓ least likely to the worst team is is Chicago. I think between Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams, like I don't think they're coming in fourth in that division. I th I th there's just too much offensive success with the head coach and just the playmaking ability of of Williams. I talked about Detroit I think all those things are well said. I think the Vikings are gonna be a decent squad. I don't think we're gonna be ⁓ I don't think we're gonna number one, but I think we'll be a decent squad. I worry about Green Bay. 'cause they like they've run it back and they don't have Micah for at least probably the first five, six games. And and for that thing to work, they need they they need love to like pretty much ball out and then get lead and chase the quarterback and they have their guy to seal those to seal those victories for at least a third of the season. So ⁓ I I think it may actually end up being Green Bay. And it's not just 'cause I'm a Vikings fan, though it does feel good to say it. I think Green Bay may be the team that and may end up being number four when it was all said and done by the end of the season.
Lee Glass: I I concur. I think I I'm I'm going with Green Bay as well. Because Doc said, they're just running it back with the team they had last year. Micah he's not gonna start the first couple of games because he's dinged up. It's probably gonna take him a while to get ramped up when he does come back. and I mean Micah Micah by himself, he he doesn't really move the needle in the win loss column. Didn't do it with the with the with the with the Cowboys and You know, unless everything else it up for him to close the game, then, you his it's it's not that much of an impact ⁓ on win loss column. He'll get his sacks and he'll some splash plays, but that high impact, you know, to to like change the course of the game. I I I haven't seen that yet. Right. So the running back situation for Green Bay concerns me. they're Little bit ⁓ and kind of worn down in that in that category. And there's still a lot of inconsistency with the wide receiver group. They got a a a boatload of ⁓ talented wide receivers, and they still don't really have a number one. I know they just paid Christian Watson, but Christian Watson cannot stay healthy. This you know, he's not proven to to consistently available year in and year out. So that that's sort of kind of like a trapshoot. And you're hinging everything on Justin Love and Justin Love still isn't in that point is not at that point of in his career where he can take on so many deficiencies and attrition happening during the course of the season to get them over the hump. So yeah, I I I think Green Bay, unless just have a really, really good run in of health. with their players during the course of the season after Mike after Micah comes back, I don't see them really beating out the other teams in that division. Not to say Green Bay is bad. I'm not saying that. But I'm just saying I don't think they're better than the other three. All things you know, being equal.
Lincoln: right. This this is gonna be good.
Lee Glass: Well, I mean, but but but Lang, so I mean talking going talking about the Lions though, right? Because the Lions, they they they're they're still very young. Okay. ⁓ you got you got Goff. You know how I feel about Goff, but Goff knows how to run that offense. So Goff he he put up top ten numbers. So I can't can't say anything negative about him on in that category. They got, and we just talked about who was the best running back in the league.
Lincoln: Yes. Yeah, yeah. Right, right. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: And Gibbs is in that category. So they got Gibbs, okay? They got Amon Ross and Brown. He's one of the top five wide receivers in the league. They got Jamison Williams. He's a burn on the outside who's only getting better. They got Sam Laporte as as the tight end, one of the top tight ends in the league. The defense, Dan Campbell have them run. They still doing their thing. So
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Right.
Lee Glass: See the the jury is out on the offensive coordinator side. I'm not concerned about the defense, but on the offensive coordinator side, if they get that right, yeah, they I I don't see them being I I see they they may actually challenge to be to win that division. Having a have having a la and and having a last place ⁓ s ⁓ schedule. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Think they w they could win it, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Play schedule.
Lincoln: Schedule. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I I I think this this is gonna play out really good. That's one of those divisions where where you know it it's it's it's gonna be tight. Like Doc say, you you could just throw it out there and it's a crapshoot, it could go either way. Worst first, first to worst, you know, etc, etc. So, now did did did Quinn and Williams was was that the trade with Micah Parsons? Who was that trade? Quinn and Williams was in the trade, right?
Lee Glass: You're good. You're good. It was a result of it was but it was a result of the trade. They had the capital, right. They the capital that they acquired from Micah Parsons, they was able to use that, flip it to get Quinn and Williams.
Lincoln: It was a result of the trade. Yes. Yes.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Okay. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, so all right, so I I I wanted to I wanted to to to bring that in because I know Quinn and Williams just he got a contract, right? He got a contract. ⁓ with yeah, with with the Dallas Cowboys. and really
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: He's got a bag.
Lincoln: It's it it is what it is, okay? It is what it is, for Quinn and Williams. ⁓ unfortunately, I mean he gets the bag, but you are not gonna win. I mean, you you you're not gonna win. I Lee, I know you just talked about you just talked about this. This don't have anything to do with the NFC East, man. Trust me on this. It's don't have anything to do with the NFC East. Come on. ⁓
Lee Glass: That means I can't trust you. I can't trust you when you talk about the NFC E's. I can't. But but continue. Continue.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Lincoln: So you you got the Cowboys. They they got stellar receivers, man. They got they they got pickings, you know, they they get they got ⁓ what's my man? what do you say? C D. Yeah, yeah, C D. know, they they they they got quarterback, you know, very efficient quarterback. you they they got it they they got it all. ⁓ And impressed with
Lee Glass: Yes.
Donald "Doc" Glass: C D C D lamp, yeah.
Lee Glass: Sea Lamb.
Lincoln: you know, their defense, because obviously they got Christian Parker there ⁓ from from the Eagles. And so the defense is gonna be revamped. ⁓ they got Caleb Downs out there, you know, who somebody was saying they they believe he was gonna he's one of the top rookies that came out. and, you I saw a clip where he was he was he was kind of, you know, he was he batted the ball down from C D. And you know, and people was man, you know, you know, he was he was hyped up. It was a bad pass. You know, it should have been a ⁓ outside shoulder pass by by Dak. Dak put it on the inside. I mean, any it you know, it wasn't really that big of a deal. So this is what I'm this is what I'm saying. Here's what I'm saying with this. They have all these pieces. They have all these pieces, but you still got a quarterback that I don't think is going to get you over the hump, man.
Lee Glass: Yes.
Lincoln: He's not gonna he's not gonna get you over the hump. He look, Dak is a is a great hold on, let me let me let me let me rewind that. Rewind that rewind that. I I'll use a different G word, not great. Dak is a good quarterback, right? And he can he can really get, you know, he can get you there in the regular season and he can do what he needs to do in the regular season. But I think we even talked about this before. There's just A mental there's there's there's something here when there's pressure that Dak just can't deliver on. I mean, I you know, I got a lot of cowboy fans that are that are real, you know, that are friends of mine, you know, family members, etc. etc. ⁓ Dallas fans. I don't to talk about Dallas bad like that. But until Dak Prescott gets over whatever it is he needs to get over, I mean, who People always talk about this. They always talk about, the defense carried his team, or, you know, you got all these receivers. Dak has everything. There's no excuses for Dak. He has everything. You got two all-world on the outside of you. You know, you got a ⁓ a decent back. You got your defense is gonna be there. I don't want to hear any excuses from any Dallas Cowboy fan this year because you got it all. I'm tired of tired of making excuses. Everybody, every year they go into the Super Bowl and they're going to win the Super Bowl, but you got everything that you need to. And they are still not even going to win the division. They're still not even going to win the division with all of that that they have. So, you know, I know they're super talented, but there's two problems that they have in Dallas. That's Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones. And that's why they can't win, man. That's it's this it's just that's just a fact.
Lee Glass: I'm gonna let you go, Doc. I just wanna say Jerry Jerry Jones ain't Jerrying right now. Jerry Jones is actually he's actually doing a pretty good job.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Hey. ⁓
Lincoln: The season ain't start yet. You gotta wait till the season starts for him to start Jerry.
Lee Glass: No, he meddles before the season. That's when he does his meddling and he ain't meddling right now. But go go ahead, Doc. Go go ahead, Doc.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yeah. He ain't mad a listen, he ain't medalista. No no no. first off I I thought you said this wasn't gonna be, you know, about the NFC East, but that's that's a whole other that's a whole other conversation. ⁓
Lee Glass: It sounded it sounded like the NFC's griping to me.
Donald "Doc" Glass: If you if you took Sam Dawn right now and made him the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, you think they said we wolf
Lincoln: They they're going straight there. They going straight there.
Donald "Doc" Glass: You take Dak and put Doc in Seattle last year.
Lincoln: They gon they're gonna falter in the first round. They're gonna falter in the first round. I'm telling you.
Donald "Doc" Glass: With with Sam Darnold. Sam Darnold had going into last season. You put Dak there and you don't think they have a good chance of winning the Super Bowl?
Lincoln: I'm telling you. They not they don't they don't win the first game in the playoffs. They're gonna make the playoffs with Dak in Seattle, but they don't win that first game because Dak is going to blumber it. It's something, it's a it's a it's a it's a mental hurdle, it's something you gotta get over.
Donald "Doc" Glass: No.
Lee Glass: I don't I don't believe you're gonna make me do it. Go go ahead, go ahead, Doc. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Real quick. I I think if if the NFL is lucky, there are eight starting quarterbacks that can carry a team. If the league is lucky. years it's like four or five. Okay. Like four or five dudes like, hey, just go win the game. Do something awesome. All right. Dax not there. He's that next tier. And the problem for the Cowboys in part has been the problem has been that they're playing him as if he was Tony Romo, who they played as if he was Peyton Manning. And that's not his strength. All right. if you put a team around Dak.
Lee Glass: ⁓
Donald "Doc" Glass: Dak can win championships. I mean that dude carried Mississippi State to number one in college football, and when has Mississippi State been number one before or after? the but that's the point, is they actually have something that resembles a team ⁓ ⁓ ⁓ last year, not the year before, or the year before. Like ⁓ So we we gonna see how it plays out. ⁓ I'm not expecting no 16 and one 17 and ⁓
Lincoln: He got a TM right now.
Lee Glass: For the first time. Now. Not last year, now.
Donald "Doc" Glass: But the fact that they have that offense and the offense doesn't have to outscore everybody and still lose like half the games, that they can have games where the offense isn't clicking on full all full all six cylinders and the defense can keep them in the game. Yeah. They they haven't had it for a long time. And I th and I think Schartenheimer is enough as a head coach. Where if he sees that the defense is actually dominating the game, to tone down the offense and let and have the offense facilitate the defense versus trying to outscore everybody every single game.
Lincoln: Before you go, Lee, before you go, one thing I can't one thing I can't say that is great in Dallas is the marketing. Because they got everybody believing. They got everybody believing. The marketing is the marketing is off the chain in Dallas. I mean, they they they number one. the one thing I could say Dallas is number one in marketing. They they got it. They got that, man. Go ahead, Lee. ⁓
Lee Glass: It ain't demar it is not the marketing. Is it it there is delusion. There there's been decades and decades of cowboy delusions when when it comes to the fan base. I mean that that that that that that's a thing. I get that. but ⁓ season, looking at the team, looking at the defense, looking at Jerry put together. And I think this ⁓ I don't know if if Jerry just he's like, look, he ain't got much time left. He I don't wanna, you know, I ain't trying to meddle no more. I just wanna I really wanna try to to win before I I cash out. But the team looked good. It looks like a good team. It's not on Doc. It's on Brian Schrottheimer. Brian Schortenheimer and that coaching staff, it's going to be on them to make sure that this team is coached up in a way to where to where they are accentuating the strengths of their, of their, of their key players and putting them ⁓ position to win games during critical down situations on both sides of the ball. That's what it's going to be on because they got they got talent all around. Dak, I'm not concerned about Dak. Dak is a good quarterback. Dak is a good quarterback. And I think now he has the tools to be able to take it to another level team wise and get them to the playoffs. and we talk about the division, and maybe we need to have a have a session or one one of our recordings where we're talking about who is gonna win each division. We we probably need to have that discussion, right? But when it comes to NFC East, I'm not concerned about the Giants, ⁓ not concerned about the commanders. ⁓
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: I'm concerned about the Cowboys. If if y'all i look, they they could very well beat you guys out for that for that division title.
Lincoln: I don't see that happening, man. I mean, don't get me wrong. Like I say, they they do have a talented they do have a very, very talented team. I just I just it's something about it. I just I it's something something something fishy in the water. I just I don't I don't I don't
Lee Glass: Okay. All right. Yeah. All right. It's it's called it's call it's called bias.
Lincoln: It's not it's not even any bias, man.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Nope, links.
Lee Glass: It's called bias. It's called NFC East Bias. That's that's what it's called.
Lincoln: Come on. Come on.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Hey, be hey, no. Be being in Dallas all these years, I have become numb to to the hype, right? Like hey, let's let's see what happens. And then like, ⁓ well they they there you go, right? Since Schottenheimer's been head coach, there's been a bit ⁓ more substance to team, And this offseason, I think.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: seen what happened with Schottenheimer last year, Jerry seems to have bought in. Cause they got a DC they don't normally get. They they got someone who was not cowboy, previous cowboy ⁓ veteran head coach. They they tried something new and different. Right? And they're actually putting money in on the defensive line. Ten, years ago they put a whole bunch of investment in the offensive line. I just don't think they spread the stuff around enough to make make things go. Caleb Downs is good. I'm not saying he's gonna be a pro bowler this year, but he's gonna be a rookie who makes very few mistakes and he don't make the same mistake twice. Like the dude the dude is good. So with at least helping with that secondary, they still got some questions at linebacker. They still got some questions on the right side of the offensive line. The running back is decent but not amazing. But with the two receivers They still need a s a b a slightly better tight end, but they got a good squad. If I didn't mention it, they like they they're above average at that position. They got a good squad. And it's gonna be hard to run on that team, which is gonna put them in obvious in obvious past situations. I don't think you wanna have a Christian Parker as the DC. So
Lee Glass: So the So I I have a question for you, Lynx, because I know you you was you you were talking about the Lions and your your concern with the Lions is not really the personnel, it's off it's the coordinators, right? The you you don't have faith. Why you have so much faith in Sean Mannion right now?
Lincoln: Right, right. Right. Yeah. It's it's it's it's because I see it's it's totally different. I mean the only way you could the only way you could go from from from from a from a Nicksteryani offense is up. can't go down. You can't go down. I don't care how new it is. The the only way the only place you could go is up. ⁓
Lee Glass: Let me tell you something. Let me let me let me tell you something. Let me tell something. I've been a Ram fan for three decades. Okay. And there was one decade where we went coach to coach, coordinator to coordinator. And trust me, my friend, it could still go down.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: Right? The nineties for the Rams, no matter who we got, it got worse. Yeah, not until ninety-nine when we got Ramil and those guys, and then we exploded with that. But the beginning of that decade, every time we got a new person thing, it couldn't get any worse, it got worse. So don't say that. Don't say that. Don't believe that.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: You did.
Lincoln: Yeah, I just think look with with with with Mannion, I know it's a new offense, but I've been see what I've been seeing, Jalen is he's he's X factor here, man. He's the X factor. You know, he's always in the news. Guys always talking about him. He's he's commanding the offense. He's gonna do what it takes to move this ball and win. I think ⁓ also with offense, it's gonna open up it's gonna open Saquon Barkley even more, even more than he he could be open up. Saquon Barkley is gonna be opened up tremendously. got I I I know he was one of the top receivers in Green Bay, Dontavian Wicks. You know, it looks like he is gonna be like a a a a really, really good receiver. second receiver to AJ, I mean to Devontae. And and then got Makai Lemon coming in there. It's it's going to be ⁓ This is this is going to be very, very interesting. w what you got?
Lee Glass: Thanks. Links, d Dontavian Wicks was not a top receiver in Green Bay. He was not. He was nope. He was he was one of the young fellas, but he was not one of their top receivers. He had he had a boat, he had a boatload of talent, right? He had a boatload of talent, and all he was doing was dropping the ball, and he lacked concentration. Right? So all I'm saying I I'm not I'm not saying that he can't get it together.
Lincoln: He was he was well he was one of them young young fellas, huh? Right, I mean yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. He he he gonna get it together. He gonna get it together this year.
Lee Glass: I'm just saying there's still a whole lot of question marks going on with you guys. Losing AJ Brown. Brand first time offense. Nep Mania Nep first time calling plays. Right? ⁓ That dude, he came out, he came out yesterday, say he bringing he bring in the Tush pushback.
Lincoln: Yeah. And First time, first time, four time. Yep, yes. It's question marks. It's question marks. Variations. Variation. A a variation.
Lee Glass: T no. He said he said he bring he said he bringing it back.
Lincoln: but he I d he did say he did say this is gonna be this is gonna be ran
Lee Glass: That that is a concern for me. That's a concern. Hmm? It l last year they didn't run it as much stock. They didn't run it as much last year. Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: It it left. It left.
Lincoln: It it we didn't run it that much. It's gonna be it's gonna be really predicated Saquon Barkley. Saquon Barkley is gonna be, you know, he has a wrinkle with Saquon in there. So, you know, it's it's it's it's gonna be interesting to see how they how they but what hey look. question it in hand. Question marks at hand. I I think the the NFC East is still gonna run through Philadelphia. it's gonna run Philadelphia.
Lee Glass: Mm. Yeah. Can yeah.
Lincoln: I think Dallas is definitely gonna be there for sure. I ⁓ obviously, they're gonna be there. But the division, I mean, th this is another division. Again, when you look at you you look at the Giants and then you look at the commanders, you know, they they got they got guys coming back, and I know we're gonna get into these division, you know, ⁓ conversations and stuff like that, but it it's it's it's gonna be interesting all the way around, man. ⁓ but I know ⁓
Lee Glass: You you you you you might you mind if we do a c do a quick pivot?
Lincoln: Yeah, what you got?
Lee Glass: Okay. What I wanna do, right? this it? Yeah, this it. Okay. I wanna run down your the schedule.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: For the Eagles. And now now that I'm looking at it, right? This a this is a cream puff schedule.
Lincoln: No Yeah.
Lee Glass: Yeah man. Y'all playing y'all playing the Cardinals. Right? Anyway, so so okay, hold on, hold on. start with week one. Week one, right? In in Philly. You playing the comm you're playing the commanders.
Lincoln: Cossing back.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. man. Yeah. ⁓
Lee Glass: That's a W. I agree. Doc? Doc, you agree with that? Okay. All right. Hey, this this this this is a hard schedule you just said, right? So week two, you play the Titans.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: Titans, hey, look, you can't sleep on you can't you can't sleep. You can't sleep, but that's a W. That's a W. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: In Tennessee, in Tennessee.
Lee Glass: In Tennessee, in Tennessee. That's a W. Right. Okay. We agree. All right. Two and ⁓ Week three. You play the Bears.
Lincoln: That's a that's a that's a tough one. They beat us last year. You know, they in Chicago. That's a tough one. I I I think I think that's a yeah, that's a tough one. That could go either way. I'll let me give that to the Bears. I'll give it to the Bears. I'll give it to the Bears. I'll give it to them.
Lee Glass: In in Chicago. In Chicago.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: You you don't wanna do that. Boy, yeah, you that that took every fiber in your being to say that, didn't it? Don't lie.
Lincoln: Hold on. That hurt, that hurt, but I'll give it to them. Yeah, yeah, that hurt. I'll give it to them.
Lee Glass: Don't lie, that hurt. But you don't but do do you believe do you believe that? Do you truly believe that?
Lincoln: It's a it's a toss up. It's a toss up. I I I really since it's in Chicago, right? It's in Chicago. they did beat us last year. We got we we got revenge coming. We remember that. ⁓ but it's gonna be one of those games. It's gonna be a tough one for sure. Monday night, yeah, that's gonna be a that's gonna be a tough one
Donald "Doc" Glass: Monday night football too. Monday night football too.
Lee Glass: Okay, so Monday night football in Chicago, you got you say that that's that's that's a loss, that's a L.
Lincoln: Yeah, that's a that that'll be a loss. Like it's I can
Lee Glass: Okay, so the next week, week four, Rhyme's coming to town. Who winning that?
Lincoln: I think the Eagles got that, man. Eagles got that. Eagles got that, right? Yeah.
Lee Glass: Okay. Okay. Okay. You all y'all got that. Y'all got that because y'all just lost to the bears. You don't want you got to give
Lincoln: We hey look we you lose you lose on Monday night, you got you gotta bounce back. You lose on Monday night, you gotta bounce back.
Lee Glass: Okay, all right. Fine, okay. So we
Donald "Doc" Glass: J j j just for the record, I g I I got your Eagles at two or two right now. So yeah.
Lincoln: I got you. I got you.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Same same same year. Same year. All right. Week five, you got you got the Jaguars. You all travel to Jacksonville.
Donald "Doc" Glass: No no no they they go into Tottenham Hotspur, they gotta go to the England.
Lincoln: We got that.
Lee Glass: this this overseas. That's right. It's nine thirty. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. They their second home game. ⁓ so you you got that one. ⁓ six you got the the Panthers.
Donald "Doc" Glass: This overseas.
Lincoln: Yeah, we got that. Yeah, we got that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Panthers ain't gonna be easy. Panthers not are not gonna be easy, but we got that. We get we got that one. Panthers not gonna be easy.
Donald "Doc" Glass: In Philly. In Philly.
Lee Glass: Okay. All right. So what what you got so far? Six weeks. What's the record? What we got Doc? Four and two. Four and two? I got them at four and two. I think I got y'all a three and three. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. No. No. I I got I got y'all. I got y'all losing to the Jaguars. Okay. Now.
Lincoln: five and one.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Four one two. Four and two.
Lincoln: Stop that man. Stop that. Stop that. Stop that. That's look, this would that's what people said last year.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Oof. To the Panthers A. Okay.
Lee Glass: Do. So weeks
Donald "Doc" Glass: Hey, Liam Cohen was saying they don't they ain't giving the Jacksonville Jack West the respect they deserve, so
Lee Glass: Right. Overseas. Right. Okay. So the next game is against the Cowboys. Monday night. In Philly.
Lincoln: Ain't getting none from me. Cowboys, where's that?
Donald "Doc" Glass: In Philly.
Lincoln: ⁓ we got that.
Lee Glass: Okay. You got the commanders again.
Lincoln: Commanders. Yeah, we're gonna take care of them again. We got them again.
Lee Glass: Okay. Doc, what you had for the cowboys? What'd you have for the cowboys, Doc?
Donald "Doc" Glass: The Cowboys win that. So Eagles go four and three. And then they beat the commanders for five and three. For me.
Lee Glass: Yeah, got them winning that. All right. Okay. All right. So week nine you got the Giants.
Lincoln: Where's this?
Donald "Doc" Glass: don't battle. ⁓ don't bottle.
Lee Glass: Does it matter? Does it matter? It's in Philly. It's in Philly. It's in Philly.
Lincoln: It don't matter. It don't matter. Yeah, it don't matter. Eight and one.
Lee Glass: Okay. B twelve, you got the Cowboys again.
Lincoln: Okay. Cowboys beat us on that one. Cowboys beat us.
Lee Glass: Okay. Week thirteen you got the Cardinals. We ain't even got to talk about that. Week fourteen you got the Colts.
Lincoln: Yeah. Colts. Yeah, I will beat the Colts.
Lee Glass: Got the Colts. And then week eighteen you got you got the Giants.
Lincoln: Yep. Yeah, we got them we got them again.
Lee Glass: So what you got you got for your for your total?
Lincoln: So far I got eleven and two.
Lee Glass: Got eleven and two. And what you got, Doc?
Donald "Doc" Glass: ⁓ I'm trying to I'm I'm trying to finish this all off. From going down the schedule.
Lee Glass: Okay.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, I think I got eleven and eleven I got eleven and six.
Lee Glass: Would you say you have ⁓ li
Lincoln: Hold on, you went down the whole thing. You went down the whole schedule. Okay, let me
Donald "Doc" Glass: I went down the whole schedule. Cause you like you skipped one with the with Pittsburgh week eleven.
Lee Glass: Yeah. my b I skipped? Hold on.
Donald "Doc" Glass: There was one after the bye. It was the Giants week nine, bye week ten, and then week eleven was against Pittsburgh in Philly.
Lee Glass: Hold on. I went
Lincoln: They only got fourteen.
Donald "Doc" Glass: 'Cause you missed the Colts you missed the so you missed the the Steelers and I think you missed the Seahawks too.
Lee Glass: I did. I did. I did. I did. My bad. Yeah. You got us in twelve of four?
Lincoln: Okay. Yeah, so I g I got us at twelve and four. Twelve and four.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Seven seventeen game season, so
Lee Glass: That ain't yeah, that ain't that ain't adding up.
Lincoln: Yeah. So what what what game am I missing?
Donald "Doc" Glass: You got the Texans one too? Or? Or the Niners one?
Lee Glass: Let me do this. I think I
Lincoln: ⁓ we got the Niners, right? We have the Niners. Okay, thirteen and four, man. Thirteen and four.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Is is is that San Fran? Is that Sa is in San Fran? Okay.
Lincoln: thirteen and four.
Lee Glass: Do me a favor, Doc. You you have the schedule in front of you. Call call call out the the last ⁓ the last six games.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yes. The last six games. So after the Cowboys game, right? ⁓ week thirteen at Arizona. Week fourteen Eagles host the Colts. Week fifteen, the Eagles host the Seahawks. Week s sixteen, Christmas Eve, the Eagles host the Texans. Week seventeen ⁓
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: That's an L.
Lee Glass: Wait, wait, stop there. What you g what you got there for the Texans?
Lincoln: We're gonna win
Lee Glass: In w where that game being played, Doc? In Philly. Okay. Okay.
Donald "Doc" Glass: In Philly.
Lincoln: And Philly. And it's gonna be cold.
Lee Glass: Okay.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Then week week seventeen, they go to San Fran to play the Niners.
Lee Glass: What you got there? That's a dub. Okay. And then week week eighteen is the Giants. That's a dub. Okay. So so what you got?
Donald "Doc" Glass: Is the giants yeah.
Lincoln: I ha I actually had us losing four games. I'm trying to see right now. let me look at the schedule. But I I I I had us losing four games, thirteen and four. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Okay. Four games. And and Doc, you like what, twelve and five? Or eleven eleven and six. Eleven and six. Okay. All right. Now wanna flip to to the Cowboys real quick.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So eleven and six. Eleven and six.
Lee Glass: Okay. Let's let's flip to the Cowboys real quick. so we got week one for the Cowboys. They the Giants.
Lincoln: Mm. They they they they know.
Lee Glass: They're gonna win. Week two they got the commanders.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: They can win. Okay. We three, they got Baltimore.
Lincoln: Hmm. In Baltimore?
Lee Glass: This one is Dallas.
Lincoln: In Dallas.
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: I I I I think they could they could they could squeak that up.
Donald "Doc" Glass: No. That's the one I think in Brazil. That's the Brazil one. The week three. That's Brazil. Maracana.
Lincoln: Or that's in Brazil.
Lee Glass: Stadium. Yeah. That one is yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: Okay, since that's in Brazil, they're gonna lose that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm.
Lee Glass: Nice, okay. We week four, they they traveled to to Houston, played Texans. So they two and two. Week five, they play the Bucs.
Lincoln: Since that's in Brazil. They're gonna lose that too. Behind They got that.
Lee Glass: Week six they got the Packers.
Lincoln: Boy. ⁓ in Green Bay.
Donald "Doc" Glass: In Green Bay. Yep, Sunday night.
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: Sunday night. boy. Yeah. That one there is a tough one. is gonna be back by then? Let me see. No. ⁓ He
Donald "Doc" Glass: He hopes to be.
Lee Glass: Well they they say he should be back by week five. This is week six, so he should be back.
Lincoln: If if Micah is back, that's a L for the Cowboys.
Lee Glass: Did he beat them last year? Didn't they play last year?
Lincoln: They played last year. Cowboys won. Cowboys won at the at the at the ending part of the game. It was like at the end. It was it was it was a tight game, but Cowboys pulled it out at the end. I think I think this time Green Bay flipped that flipped that.
Lee Glass: Ooh, Got Boy's one, right? Okay. Okay. Okay. seven they got you guys. You had you guys already winning this game. So all right. Week eight, they got the Cardinals. Week nine, they got the Colts.
Lincoln: Yeah, they get it. They got that.
Lee Glass: Week ten they got the Niners.
Lincoln: Mm. They could lose to the Niners. They could lose to the Niners.
Lee Glass: Would they what would what would you got them at right now, record wise? Jesus Christ.
Lincoln: I got them at five and five right now. I tell you.
Lee Glass: week eleven. You got the Titans?
Lincoln: ⁓ yeah, they got that. They got that.
Lee Glass: Week twelve they got you guys again. And you had them winning this one. Okay. Week thirteen they got ⁓ the Seahawks.
Lincoln: They they got that 'cause I got we we split, yeah. ⁓ that's a L.
Lee Glass: Week fifteen they got the Rams.
Lincoln: Another L.
Lee Glass: ⁓ so we we get we get to beat them. Okay, gotcha. week sixteen, they got they got the Jaguars.
Lincoln: They could they they got that.
Lee Glass: Week seventeen they got the Giants, and then week eighteen they got the commanders.
Lincoln: They got that. They got that.
Lee Glass: And so they got a tally of what?
Lincoln: I have ten and seven.
Lee Glass: Ten and seven. And you had you guys at what?
Lincoln: thirteen and four.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Thirteen at four.
Lee Glass: Thirteen and four. All right. All right. Keep that. I I won't make no no I want you no but I I want you I want you to c I want us to come back to this, right? When the season starts. Because I think I I think I didn't realize their their schedule seems to be a little bit more difficult than yours.
Lincoln: It's a toss up. It's a toss up between. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They got they got they got a especially where they playing away and home.
Lee Glass: I don't know why that is. I don't know why that it because you guys you guys have a p supposedly you guys have a first place schedule, right? Didn't you all win the East last year? Yeah. But your your schedule seems to be a little bit easier than the ⁓ the Cowboys.
Lincoln: Yep. We won these, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I think yeah, Green Bay and Tampa. The Green Bay and Tampa. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, it's a it's it's they they
Lee Glass: You you guys don't you guys don't play you don't play Baltimore, right?
Lincoln: No, we don't play Baltimore. We we playin' them, you know, obviously it's a non it's this preseason game, but no, we don't play.
Lee Glass: That's strange. Okay. All right. Let's see let's see how it plays out.
Lincoln: Mm yeah, it's it's it's it's I I see them you know, I see them doing all I see them. Ten and seven is good for them. I think that that'd get them that get them second place in the division, man. Ten and seven get them second place in the division.
Lee Glass: Boy, manion better be a s a whiz. ⁓ them plays. ⁓
Lincoln: I'll sleep on manion, man. I'll sleep on manion, man. Hey, Let's see. What what what what what did I have here? Lee, I know, I know you you had mentioned, you know, the the the two things. You had mentioned real quick, because I know we touched on this before, the the battle in in in Cleveland with the you know, I know go on back and forth from what my ⁓ what's coach name again? Munkin.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Munkin.
Lee Glass: Munkin. Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: Yeah, for what for what Munkin was saying, he ⁓ when they was one one of the reporters was trying to bait him and saying, well, you know, isn't Deshaun Watson the starter? And he was like, I I I never said Deshaun Watson was the starter. He's like, I I never said Deshaun Watson was the starter. He was like, ⁓ he said both quarterbacks are ⁓ are playing well, you know, they're they're they're doing well. So ⁓ I just think nobody has really stepped up, nobody has really shown anything.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Lincoln: That they're showing that they're number one. I think one one day Deshaun has a good day and Shador doesn't. And the next day flipping back and forth, back and forth. And nobody's really done anything yet. So to really separate themselves. So, you know, they better watch out because Dylan Gabriel could come up there and shock both of them and and and and and and end up being the starter. So yeah, but you know, that's that's still going on, but it looks like he hadn't really made a decision yet.
Lee Glass: Yeah, that is. I think he made a decision, he just doesn't want to say it. That's what I think. Yeah, I think he no I think he's leaning Deshaun Watson. I think he's leaning Deshaun Watson. And again, I'm not no no s no slight on Shador at all, right? It's just that you got Deshaun
Lincoln: Okay. Where you think he lean you think he lean into Sean Watson? I gotcha. Thank you.
Lee Glass: veteran quarterback, they paid him all that money. If there's not much the two, which it doesn't seem to be, it just makes sense to have him put him out there, recoup some of that money, right? That they've been they've invested in him and what he can do for you. And then if he doesn't, you got a couple of games in and he doesn't seem to be, you know, moving the needle, then you put your door in to, you know, to clean it all up. But
Donald "Doc" Glass: Spark.
Lee Glass: I I I think they're gonna just put him out there just to see if he has anything left. Now, if Deshaun was just stinking it up in in camp, then I think it would have been a no-brainer. Shador would have been in there. And the reporters would have reported as such. But even the reporters coming out of Cleveland, there everyone is like it's like fifty-fifty. can tell. So yeah, I I I think they're gonna just put they're gonna put Watson out there and see what happens. But Shador's definitely like the future right now for them.
Donald "Doc" Glass: L logistically, them being about the same, it makes a lot more sense to go with the veteran and if things don't pan out then to go with the second year guy. Then to throw the second year guy out there and then if things don't pan out then to go with the veteran.
Lincoln: Yeah. Well, I mean, we we shall see, man. We shall see. this this time is ⁓ winding down, so you're gonna have to pick somebody soon. It makes sense, you know, to go with Deshaun, but obviously we know he's he's he's he's he's not the future, man. He he's not the future. They like you say, Lee, if they're gonna recoup some money, recoup try to recoup something, but I think if they do start Deshaun, three or four games and he's gonna be out of there. That's that's just my my opinion.
Lee Glass: We'll see. We'll see. I I mean, he he could surprise everyone and and light it up and kind of re you know, turn back the clock to his cup his last year in ⁓ with the Texans. If that happens then you you have a conundrum, right, in terms of what you're gonna do even after the season. But yeah, we'll see what happens.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Did say? Yeah.
Lincoln: Definitely. All right, man. So ⁓ questions on a dime. Let's transition.
Lee Glass: Boy, do we have time? so what I wanted to bring up to you guys. So we just had, of course, the Hall of Fame game. You know, got some really cool people that were inducted, Drew Brees and Luke Keekly and all those guys, right? So, of course, after that, you look at the first time eligible players for Hall of Fame going forward. And you got a couple of names here. Got Adrian Peterson, Rob Gronkowski, ⁓ Ben Rothlisberger, Cam Newton, Antonio Brown, ⁓ Richards and Richard Sherman, right? ⁓ and ⁓ Andrew Withworth. And shoot an Alex Mack, right? So you got some some heavy hitters here. First time eligible players. My question to you guys, right, out of this group, which one is most likely not going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer?
Donald "Doc" Glass: That's easy.
Lee Glass: Right. So I'll say the names again. Adrian Peterson. He should he he should be in, right? That that's my right. That that should right. But you got Adrian Peterson, Rob Gronkowski. We know everybody feels about him. Right? Ben Rothesberger. Right. I'm not gonna say Cam because I know people don't like Cam and the media don't like Cam. So I'm I'm I I'm not I'm I'm I'm not gonna put him in this question, right? So I'm gonna leave Cam out, even though I think Cam
Lincoln: Mm. Mm. That's a shoein'. Chewin'. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: That's the showing. That's the showing.
Lincoln: Yeah, Cam not he he Cam not gonna get it. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: Well, that's a debate for another time. But I'll leave Cam. I'll leave I'll leave Cam out for right now. Right. ⁓ Antonio Brown.
Lincoln: No. Mm-mm.
Lee Glass: Andrew Whitworth Whitworth and Alex Mack. So out of those guys, Peterson, Gronkowski, Rothlisberger, Brown, Whitworth, and Mack.
Lincoln: Antonio Brown not getting in. That's an easy one. Yeah. Tony Tony O'Brien not getting in. Yeah, that's that's that's easy. ⁓ and and it it it don't it don't have anything to do with his career, because his numbers are are are good. It's is is is it's just the bias. I would want to compare his numbers to ⁓ Michael Irving numbers. Like, let me let me
Donald "Doc" Glass: That's the easy one right there. He may not
Lee Glass: Right. No, no, no, that's no comparison. It's no comparison. ⁓ his numbers will blow Michael Irvin's numbers away. Yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, but it's a totally different arrow though. It's a totally different arrow.
Lincoln: Let me see. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you will he will, you will, he will, yeah. That that that ⁓ but I wanna see
Donald "Doc" Glass: Is out the water. Yeah.
Lincoln: What he looking like compared to some recent and some receivers that you know might not have gotten it. What did Larry Fitzgerald what was Larry Fitzgerald numbers?
Donald "Doc" Glass: Could maybe take the first few years. I was I just was a Larry Fitzgerald. Or the first seven, eight years of ⁓ Mike Evans. You can't take the whole career, the first like seven, eight years. 'Cause don't forget, Antonio Brown is his career did get cut short. Right. You probably would have had another two, three years at least, if things didn't go south the way they did, but and not that it's kept guys from getting into the Hall of Fame. But yeah, the way it ended Yeah. Anyway.
Lee Glass: So I I figured you guys would have said that, right? I figured you guys would have said, ⁓ Antonio Brown. But you do have someone on this list who, you know, had his own misgivings and misconduct off the field that I feel is far more egregious than anything Antonio ⁓ Brown has ever done.
Donald "Doc" Glass: That's the next one. Go to the next guy. But yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. I I he wasn't getting it either.
Lee Glass: Right.
Lincoln: He wasn't getting.
Lee Glass: But so the qu we so we talking about
Donald "Doc" Glass: I don't think he's getting in first round. I don't think he's getting in first time first ballot.
Lincoln: Ben Rossburg. First ballot.
Lee Glass: How would you feel if he were if i so if he were to get in first ballot?
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah, I I'd be disgusted. I'd be disgusted. Play ⁓ again.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I would question the legitimacy of those who vote for the Hall of Fame, but it's not the first time I question it. So like it wouldn't really do me much.
Lincoln: Yeah, I I I wouldn't I wouldn't I I I would be disgusted. But check this out. Here, here, here, real quick, real quick. Before you, before, and I and I know we don't have much time, but I I wanna career totals ⁓ comparison Larry Fitzgerald versus ⁓ Brown. Games played. Larry Fitzgerald played 263 games versus Brown 146. ⁓ receptions, Fitzgerald 1432. Brown nine twenty-eight. ⁓ receiving yards, Fitzgerald seventeen thousand four hundred and ninety two, Brown twelve thousand two hundred and ninety one. Receiving touchdowns, Fitzgerald 121, Brown 88. Yards ⁓ per game, Fitzgerald 66, Brown 84. So, you know, obviously Fitzgerald.
Donald "Doc" Glass: There we go.
Lincoln: Fitzgerald had a a really long career. Like we said, Brown got cut short by himself. ⁓ you know, by maybe two or maybe three years. he could have made those numbers up. I think he he if if he was if he would have played another three years, he would have been a lot closer in some of these categories ⁓ that ⁓ Larry Fitzgerald ⁓ was in. So I mean
Lee Glass: No, no, no. I and and and and and that's totally my fault. When you when you posed the question, I didn't hear Larry Fitzgerald, I thought you said another receiver's name. And I don't wanna say the rece you said you said Michael Irvin, right? Okay, that's what I thought. Okay, okay. I didn't I didn't I didn't hear Larry Fitzgerald. I didn't hear Larry Fitzgerald. I didn't hear you. Okay.
Lincoln: Yeah, no, I said another receiver's name first and then I said Fitzgerald too. Yeah. Yeah, I said Irving first and then yeah and then I Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So yeah. ⁓ but anyway, yeah, I just wanted to I just wanted to throw that out there with those numbers.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. And then we said yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: No, no, no. No, F Fitzgerald, I I would I I I expect their their stats to be comparable. Like like in terms of with Fitzgerald, I would expect him to have probably more receptions and Antonio Brown more yards and or, you know, yards per reception s to that effect. So yeah, but I think they each balance balance out and Fitzgerald was the first ballot.
Lincoln: First ballot.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Yeah. But but we know how this ⁓ you they they the the the committee, you know they don't like disgruntle wide receivers.
Lincoln: First ballot. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So that's why I know he's not gonna get in. Even if even if he was if he was not disgruntled, he could have been a first ballot, he would have played that extra three years. Okay? Cause they doing the same they did the same thing to T O, right? So so TO definitely needs to to to to get in. But because T O was I mean he's he's in, he's in he
Lee Glass: Yeah. No, TO's N. Yeah. But he should have been a h he should have been the first ballot. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Second year.
Lincoln: He should have been the first ballot, yes, what I was saying. He should have been the first ballot. So yeah. ⁓ but anyway, yeah. ⁓ that's a that's a that's a that's a good question, man. I was I was
Donald "Doc" Glass: First part.
Lee Glass: All right. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: You you th you think they're gonna put Ben Rothesperger in before they put Neil Man in?
Lincoln: No, Ben Ben Roth's bur pss see.
Lee Glass: I don't I I wouldn't put it past him.
Lincoln: I th yeah, I I would say that too. I would say that too. Yeah. I I I I I would I would say that. I I I would hope
Lee Glass: I wouldn't put I wouldn't put it past them. I really don't have no faith in the in in the integrity of the of of the voters. I have no faith in their integrity.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. I would hope that that that ⁓ Eli gets in before him, but yeah, yeah, yeah. I I I
Lee Glass: I mean a stat statistic statistically speaking, he should get in before Eli.
Lincoln: He should. Yeah. He should. If you're speaking from statistics, so I guess that's you know.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Statistically speaking, yes. But I'm but I'm but I'm talking about your but you if you're talking about impact on the game. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Yeah. I mean Steelers is a storied franchise.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm. As had the giant.
Lee Glass: Yeah. Yeah, no, I'm I I agree. I'm saying it it it balances out, but then this the stats and all that I think that that tips it to his favor, but you go around doing the things that he was doing and he doesn't have a lot of ex teammates that advocate for him either. I just watched something which with J Joey Porter can't stand him. Can't stand him. Yeah.
Lincoln: Hey.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep. Yep.
Lincoln: Nobody like no nobody, yeah. Can't stand, yeah. He can't see that. Yeah, yeah. So when when it's like when it's like that, you know, unfortunately, like you said, by the numbers, he he he can be a first ballot, but ⁓ we we ⁓ I'm and in this situation I'm I'm happy for the bias if he doesn't get in. I'll be happy for the bias. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Mm it's it it it's deserved. Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And just think, if Philip Rivers wasn't a good team player, we'd be talking about Philip Rivers too. We got five more years to wait before Philip Rivers is eligible for the Hall of Fame.
Lee Glass: Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that didn't make any sense.
Lincoln: I don't know why he did that, man. I don't know why he let ⁓ a man call him out of danger.
Lee Glass: That'll make no sense.
Donald "Doc" Glass: He he just wanted to see if he still had it in him. And they wait and they almost beat the Seahawks. They almost beat the Seahawks with Phillip Rivers coming off the bench, off the couch.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, but
Lincoln: Phillip, stay retired, man. Don't come back now. Same thing for Aaron Donald. Anyway.
Lee Glass: All right.
Lincoln: Hi Vellas.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. All right. Yep. True.
Lee Glass: All right, man. Good one. Catch you all.
Lincoln: Yeah. Later.
