Speaker 1: Welcome to Deeply Well. This show is a soft place.
00:00:08
Speaker 2: To land on your journey, a.
00:00:10
Speaker 1: Space where we explore what it truly means to live well from the inside out, not perfectly, but honestly, with all the complexity, the paradox, the beauty, and the wonder of being human. Because in a world that is constantly pulling at us, this is the space to come back to yourself, to.
00:00:32
Speaker 2: Your body, your truth, to the practices.
00:00:36
Speaker 1: That genuinely sustain you, the ones that work when life is actually happening. This show is for the seekers, the creatives, the sensitive ones, for everyone doing the quiet, courageous work of becoming whole. This is Deeply Well. Welcome back to Well. I'm Debbie Brown. I am so grateful you're here, and wherever this conversation finds you today, I hope that you can receive it as an invitation to slow down, to reconnect, and to become a little more present with yourself.
00:01:17
Speaker 2: Life is hard.
00:01:19
Speaker 1: That is like a sentence I'm leading with in everything lately. Life is hard, and I think that's a given for everyone, even on the best day.
00:01:28
Speaker 2: Right Earth is a lot.
00:01:31
Speaker 1: So my intention always with this show, whether we are talking to you know an amazing person. Whether we're diving into some of my experiences, whether we're processing flowing any of it, it's to help relieve some of the inner suffering that we all carry being alive and make it feel joyful, worth it, fine, enthusiasm where it's present, and more than anything, just self actualized to the best of our ability. Okay, today's episode is inspired by two experiences that I had that, although very different, I felt beautifully compliment one another and also provided some interesting contrasts for me.
00:02:15
Speaker 2: So I want to invite you into this experience that I have. If you are a.
00:02:18
Speaker 1: Listener of the show, you know I have talked about living with chronic pain conditions and living with an autoimmune condition. And so for all of my chronic pain girlies out there, or anyone who is just kind of discovering their health, maybe suffering with their health right now, or looking to implement practices of longevity so that for the length of your life you can continue to nourish yourself and feel like yourself, this episode.
00:02:50
Speaker 2: Is for you.
00:02:51
Speaker 1: I had an experience that I've never done before. I am somebody that if you have not picked this up from the show or my Instagram. I have been biohacking all the things. I would say somewhere around what year is it like, maybe fourteen years. I used to have, you know, an opportunity to get a lot of frontline resources. I was connected to the athletic world, to the NFL world many years ago, and from that I learned so much about bodies and my bodies, and I was getting testing done back then that I didn't know eventually would become you know, some of the pillars of the longevity work that's available now. So it's been incredible really watching that industry grow and watching my own connection to my health and my self advocacy for my health has grown. For anyone that has a chronic pain condition or something that you've been trying to understand. I also have this experience having ADHD, and you know, it taking my.
00:03:57
Speaker 2: Whole life to figure that out.
00:03:59
Speaker 1: But if you've been on one of those searches of trying to understand your inner working and you're inner wiring, one, you know it's been a journey, a lifelong journey, and two you've probably realized that you either get absolutely exhausted trying to explain yourself to doctors or to various practitioners, or you become really a master of your personal domain and you're coming in and able to really advocate with a lot of power, with a lot of authenticity, and you have your receipts, and so it's interesting living that life and those that live it, you know exactly.
00:04:42
Speaker 2: What I'm saying.
00:04:43
Speaker 1: Sometimes you walk in with doctors and they're kind of annoyed that you know so much about yourself and looking to kind of counteract your intuition or the understandings that you've come through or not listen. And sometimes you're blessed with doctors that are fascinated about the work that they do and they're always looking to learn and find solutions and collaborate with patients. But you never quite know what you're going to get. So as I get ready to share this experience that I had, I'm kind of giving you the big lead in because I found that I had the opportunity to really be disarmed and this experience that I had and really be nourished and changed.
00:05:27
Speaker 2: By the experience that I had.
00:05:30
Speaker 1: And so I want to invite you to learn about this with me, but then to also find a way to if it resonates see how you may be able to bring it to life in your world. So I recently this past week for several days. If you watch my stories, you saw some wild things. I recently returned from spending several days at the Shaw Wellness Clinic in Cancun, Mexico. So Shaw Wellness, that's Sha Wellness is a space that's dedicated to the inner of modern medicine, holistic therapies, nutrition, mindfulness and longevity. And my experience there was really a reminder that well being is never something that we just stumble upon.
00:06:15
Speaker 2: It's something that you.
00:06:16
Speaker 1: Have to really intentionally cultivate through the environment that we create, the habits that we practice, and the relationship that is ever growing that we have with ourselves and our bodies. We're also entering the annual lions Gate Portal My God and a whole lot of supercharged astrology for August twenty twenty six. I am an astrology girly. I have been obsessed with astrology since I was a child, but very actively studying it since right around eighteen or nineteen, when I had my first big birth chart in depth birth chart.
00:06:53
Speaker 2: Reading twenty three years ago. Yikes.
00:06:59
Speaker 1: And so this time of year I've always found that I naturally gravitate to summer being pretty potent for me, pretty magnetic.
00:07:08
Speaker 2: Usually deeply healing.
00:07:10
Speaker 1: July tends to be a little tumultuous, which this year it was too in mercury retrograde. Whooped that ass, my god.
00:07:21
Speaker 2: But I always feel this. I always thought it was.
00:07:24
Speaker 1: Due to my birthday in June and that kind of solar return portal, you know, kind of happening. But August is that girl like August is so potent astrologically for all the transformation, the potential of all the transformation that can take place throughout the whole year. And I found that most specifically whenever I work with the annual Lionsgate portal, big release and big magic tends to happen in my life. Just really in the way I invite everyone to use astrology, whether you're super into it like some of us, or just kind of you know, just looking on the outside at your son's sign, or not into it at all. You know, the magic is in your own self inquiry. That's what I found when it comes to astrology. It's reading what the potential of the energy is and finding a way to maximize it. For yourself, and sometimes that means maximizing the grief because you can read in the transits or the astrology that perhaps you know what you could judge as a rough periodist coming up. And then it's saying, how do I dive into that more deeply? How do I use you know, this energy to really think about myself and my life and what can be transformed and surrender to it. And then you have periods of astrology a lot like was what is happening in many ways this month that also lean into you know, what is the possibility for the power in my life? Something I want to avoid as I talk about this astrology and eventually I want to talk about it in another episode. Please don't set intentions around being or feeling seen. That's my personal urge and directive for each one. I think everyone is overly obsessed. I just hear it everywhere all the time, being seen. I want to be seen, and I really invite everyone what does that actually mean to you and what is it that you think is unseen? I've explored this a little bit on the show in the past, but it feels really resonant right now because I think a lot of people are really giving away their power by searching for this idea, this belief that everyone can fully see you or that's even how it's designed to be. And I just really urge people to connect, like, what are you really longing for? And when did that longing start? What version of you do you need to send a little more love to that felt unseen, maybe in your own household, because the greater world is never going to be meet that need for any of us. I've met so many people on such spectrums of quote unquote being seen from the biggest superstars imaginable to you know, just us every day folks, you know, doing doing whatever needs to be done. But no matter where you land, absolutely no one has a sense that you're seen in a way that repairs everything else in your life just by that. Sometimes there is a deeper desire to be witnessed, to be appreciated at work, to be appreciated in your household. But I think it's so important that we don't outsource our power by saying that the only way to meet that need is through the gaze of another person or through the validation of another person. So if that is a theme that is coming up for you as you hear this one. I recognize there may be some ch and even hearing me say this, but investigate what the need actually is and what you think you'll feel and receive when you are quote unquote seen and what see? What is the definition for that? How are you defining that word?
00:11:19
Speaker 2: See? N scene?
00:11:23
Speaker 1: What is under that umbrella? What is the descriptive of that? That feels like that's what the cure is for you? I'm just seeing it everywhere, And I think it's so important to talk about because you're wasting time. No one is ever going to fully see you like most of your parents don't, most of your family members don't. Like this is life, this is the human experience. But do you see you?
00:11:48
Speaker 2: You know, I've had many seasons of.
00:11:52
Speaker 1: Feeling that in terms of like work I've done, not maybe being received or recognized, And okay, so it's on God's time. You still got to do it. You still got to be the good person even if no one notices. You still got to do the work. Even if no one notices whatever your work is, you still got to show up as who you say.
00:12:14
Speaker 2: You are even if no one notices.
00:12:16
Speaker 1: And usually what I find is the shifting is you create the boundaries up against the people, the situations, the circumstances in your life where you are feeling small, and you open yourself to the possibility and potential of being in new environments and you do the regulating work necessary to exist in those environments, and then you feel more equally yoked and you can see another and they can see you, and there's a resonance, and so you feel a little more full, you feel a little more understood. But being understood, feeling seen, being validated, it really is is always inside work. There is no way to cheat that. There is no one person to give that to you to make it all make sense. And so I don't know why I just felt led to go into.
00:13:14
Speaker 2: That whole little spiel, But Okay, it's.
00:13:21
Speaker 1: Just something that I'm seeing around and I want us to collectively watch that and ask questions about what the feeling really is and how we can meet that need.
00:13:28
Speaker 2: Because who do you think is looking?
00:13:31
Speaker 1: Like?
00:13:31
Speaker 2: Who is looking?
00:13:33
Speaker 1: And what are these people going to do to you? Just like what are you doing for the people that you're looking at? What do you think that means? Like, it's crazy, who's looking? Nobody is looking, You're looking.
00:13:47
Speaker 2: I'm just seeing.
00:13:50
Speaker 1: Most especially, I'm seeing so many people that most would consider as being seen or having been seen, that are saying that, and that are operating from that place, and that is a place of lack. Who is it that is worthy enough to bestow this upon you to make you.
00:14:11
Speaker 2: Feel good about it?
00:14:12
Speaker 1: It's important to ask that question, and why would you outsource the entirety of your power and potential into that person to validate who and what you are? And what do you even know about them?
00:14:27
Speaker 2: Yeah? All right, I went there? Who knows?
00:14:29
Speaker 1: So back to Lion's the gate working with this energy, and that might be something you want to surrender in this astrology, this is a period of time that many people recognize as an opportunity for reflection, for courage, for intention, and definitely for personal alignment. So, whether you approach it from a spiritualist, symbolic or just simply a reflective perspective, I believe that moments like this can really serve as powerful invitations to pause, to edit, to evaluate where we are, and to consciously choose or recommit to where we are headed. So today I want to share a few reflections. First that I had it with my time at Shaw Wellness and explore what the Lions Skate Portal represents and offer a few practices to help you move through this season with just a little more clarity and intention. Okay, so I want to talk about my time at Shaw Wellness. I'm going to do an Instagram post to and put a lot of the photos I took on my substack.
00:15:40
Speaker 2: It was really cool.
00:15:42
Speaker 1: One of my girlfriends, really special, lady Lauren Kleinman, she went and she knows that I am always kind of working on my physical health, and so she told me about her experience and everything that she did, and she offered to connect me with them. So full disclosure, I was invited on this trip for free and had the chance to experience it that way, outside of transportation, and so I'm very grateful for the opportunity and i want to share it with you in case you're able to go or recreate it somehow for yourself where you are. So Shaw Wellness it's located in the Caribbean coast of Cancun, Mexico.
00:16:21
Speaker 2: They also have a location.
00:16:23
Speaker 1: In Spain, and it's one of the world's leading wellness and longevity clinics. So some of the things that they do there is. They integrate Western medicine, functional and preventive medicine, nutrition, natural therapies, movement, sleep optimization, emotional well being, stress management, mindfulness, and meditation, and the real focus is on creating sustainable health, not just treating illness and symptoms. And so going into that experience was really amazing for me as someone especially that is already very locked in. A lot of the treatment were things that I've discovered over my journey, some of the things I implement. But then I also got to do things with my body that I've never done before.
00:17:08
Speaker 2: So I did like.
00:17:10
Speaker 1: The VO two max testing. I did this other incredible experience called Icarus, where you're in this machine and.
00:17:19
Speaker 2: You have this VR setup.
00:17:20
Speaker 1: All the pictures are going to be in my substack in the videos. It was a lot and you're working with the strength of your body. I met with an amazing osteopath from France, which I'm so excited about finding that modality and trying to find it now that I'm back in La So incredibly eye opening for me in so many ways. I did body scanned, where we really got to see in a very deep way my musculature and my fasha I do a lot of fascia work on myself as someone with chronic pain. I have hypermobile disorder, so that does so many things to the body and fibromyalgia, so I'm always working with pain that some of it is very triggered by the mind, So finding ways to do the physical work, but then also finding the ways to feel safe enough in your body that your muscles can release and reorganize in a healthy way. And so I was able to go so much deeper on that journey there having one on one time with my doctor there, having I did an amazing consultation, uh consultation and advisory session with a anti inflammatory nutritionist. That's a journey that I'm about to embark on more fully.
00:18:48
Speaker 2: It's really necessary.
00:18:49
Speaker 1: I'm finding that, you know, no matter what else I do, no matter what potential meds or supplements that I take, it really comes down to the fact that my body has to eat very clean to feel healthy, to not break down. And so I think for the last few years, I've been retraining my taste to eat for function and not eat for taste and flavor. And as a foodie that used to have a food blog, that's crazy, but I've been working on it and also praying about it and journaling about it, and I've reached that point, and so I'm excited to be on this new journey where I'm able to eat far more intentionally and really distance myself from foods that just cause me pain ultimately that you know, have to spend you know, that bite of this, and then it takes twelve hours for you know, you not to have pain or for you to feel like yourself again.
00:19:51
Speaker 2: I think I'm at a place where.
00:19:52
Speaker 1: I'm just realizing, thank God, that I can release any addictions to those food oods and give myself what I need and what I deserve. So it was very amazing to get that extra support. I also had this opportunity to have a really amazing biofeedback session and acupuncture session in a way that I'd never done before. And I'm someone that gets acupuncture, I mean so much like, I just believe in it. I believe in the power of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, been doing it for probably twenty years and having these sessions that I just had and realizing through these like bio energy feedback machines, some areas that would be better to concentrate on shout out to Miguel. It was just, yeah, it changed me. It really changed my configuration. So I needed that immersion and I think it is something that I can recreate at home for myself when I have this space. But it is going to require a lot of intention, and I think we all should consider discovering when and if we have the time, and I know in this season that really may not be the case for some of us, but if and when we have the time. I'm someone that has experienced burnout, like true burnout several times in my life, to where I've had to be hospitalized, to where I developed in I twitch, to where I developed honestly in autoimmune condition. So I take burnout very seriously and in my non podcasting work that I do one on one in boarder rooms with leaders, it's so deep and it's so important to catch burnout before it really settles into your body, because it can take one to two years of really dedicated time to heal before you can get back to who you were, and that's just too much time to take off. It's too much time to suffer. And so, you know something I had to be honest with myself about as a hyper independent person that has a Pluto complex and has been used to doing all the things and powering through and you know, single mom life, woman life like we know, we know what it's like to just keep going, even with our practices, even with my daily meditation.
00:22:36
Speaker 2: And going to Shaw wellness. This past week.
00:22:40
Speaker 1: Was even more integrative and eye opening at the perfect time. I've been navigating a personal challenge and a personal betrayal.
00:22:53
Speaker 2: And a personal.
00:22:55
Speaker 1: Hardship for the last five and a half months privately, and I realized when I got to Shah that I've been in fight or flight for over five months and there just wasn't this space to really do anything about that. As is the case sometimes, right, I still was working, I was still traveling. I was still having mind blowing experiences, you know, like my benevolent Queen Oprah being able to interview her in can, like being a mom.
00:23:25
Speaker 2: It's summer like.
00:23:26
Speaker 1: Still, all of those things are happening, and some of them are incredibly special, and I've been navigating like one of the hardest things I've ever been through that is likely going to haunt me for a very long time, and I'm still in it.
00:23:41
Speaker 2: I'm still not at the end road of it.
00:23:45
Speaker 1: So my work this season has been, you know, how do I hold all of it at the same time when there is not a choice. It's not one of those situations that we'll slow down, got it, I can't. So I'm looking to slow down in the tiniest of moments that that's possible, like when I'm on an airplane and not watching a movie and instead just breathing and looking out the window, or you know, getting in a few.
00:24:09
Speaker 2: Extra epsom salt baths.
00:24:11
Speaker 1: But this was my opportunity to reregulate, and it was powerful to see that up close and to be able to admit to myself that I have been suffering in some ways mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually, you know, these last few months, and that I needed that much space. I was able to have four days there, three full days of working with treatment and the doctors and finding opportunities to just sit, rest and restore, and in real time watching my body come down for fight or flight was just such a powerful reminder as a leader and as a facilitator of what it really feels like in the body and how to be with it, how to move past it and then how to continue to tend to it once you're out of it. So yeah, I went in actually so much more hypervigilant than I imagined, even going into a space of healing, like my walls were up. I was already kind of falsely assuming that, you know, maybe I wouldn't be understood or be helped. And you know, I just I had some calcification because I've had to be upright, you know, and strong in this season. And so just the grace there of them working with that and knowing that the surrender to the longevity and health is part of it too, and then the finding like the real connective points of what my unique body and circumstance requires. And you know, I think if you ever are in an environment like this and you feel safe enough also sharing with the people in front of you what you're holding. You know, when they I went in with the osteopath and you know, she was working with me, and she was just like, you know, everything is in your body. You're not feeling safe in your body and to be able to share, You're right, I'm not, but it's not because of my trauma. It's not because of my things, thank God anymore it's because the way my life is designed, it surrounds me, and so sometimes, especially in close circumstance with the nature of the work that I do, it just is it's gonna be with me. There's no amount of energetic practices nervous system regulation that can keep that off of me or out of me.
00:26:36
Speaker 2: And so then when.
00:26:37
Speaker 1: It's there, where do you find the time to really tend to yourself? And so I want to pose that question here and I'm going to dive even deeper into my experience at Chawalness on the substack. I'm going to break down every treatment I had and some of the incredible food that I was served. They design your diet too, so everything was anti inflammatory or also referred to as microbiotic, and.
00:27:05
Speaker 2: It was beautiful. It was delicious, but it.
00:27:09
Speaker 1: Was also completely resetting to my body. It was natural, intentional medicine and I got to kind of watch that flow over the course of three days. So that was pretty pretty epic, pretty powerful. So dive more into the substack coming in this next week. You can subscribe there and all the things, but it's called self care Simplified, and I'll be diving into that process. But I want to leave this little inquiry for this part of what I'm saying. I want you to really look at your life right now, what it's made of. I want you to look at the scaffolding. I'm not going to sit here and tell you add more self care practices if there's just not the time, Because sometimes we're in it. We're in it and in ways we don't even want to be. But there's just not this space or time for anything about it to change. What I do want you to do, if that is your circumstance, is say, where are the micro moments that I can plug a couple things in, even just to make myself smile, even just to slow down enough to hold your tension points. For me, it's in my traps and so, which is very indicative holding all the things, the weights on the shoulders. But when I have moments, you know, I can't always get these knots out or get it to calm, but I can close my eyes and take a breath and say, I recognize an honor all that you're holding. It is safe to be in my body. I am safe to be in my body. I am safe to be in my body. I'm safe to be in my body. Doing something like that that is unique to you and your process and what you're walking through can be It can really be the peace to just help you sleep.
00:28:59
Speaker 2: A little better.
00:29:00
Speaker 1: Connect to faith, connect to hope, activate that language with your body and that transmission that we can give ourselves.
00:29:09
Speaker 2: So think about where you can do that. And then I would.
00:29:12
Speaker 1: Also like you to take a moment to look ahead in your life in the future. I don't care how far out it is, but whenever you see a free day, or a free half day, or a free cluster of hours, block it out. Use that time to connect to a practice you can find someone self care simplified or Google or my book wherever you find it, but pick out a handful of those things, turn your phone off. You may think it won't be enough because what you're walking.
00:29:46
Speaker 2: Through is too deep and vast.
00:29:48
Speaker 1: It will matter. It will bring some relief. It will give you an opportunity to just be with the truth of your life, the truth of your body, the truth of who you are, truth of the present moment.
00:30:01
Speaker 2: And so.
00:30:04
Speaker 1: Put aside that time, even if you don't know what you want to do with it yet, just make the container and commit to using that time on yourself, specifically on your body in a nourishing way. Okay, So I am going to stop there with that, and then as we close out this episode, I want to dive into this astrology a little bit. There's a couple interesting things. So there's that Lionscate portal. We are currently at the end of Jane Child. We are currently at the end of July, fastly moving into August twenty twenty six. But a lot of these transits happen roughly around the same time every August. We're getting into eclipse season, so we have I believe two full moons this August one new moon, we have a solar eclipse, we have a lunar eclipse, we have a Jupiter Casimi, we have of lions Gate, and a few more things. This spicy, I like it. So just think about, you know, what are some intentions to become a little bit more embodied in your life and in who you say you are with daily choices. Through daily choices, Leo energy in general is Leo's season. Shout out to my Leos. I am a Leo rising. Leo represents whatever sign you are courage, authentic, self expression, creativity, leadership, confidence, living from the heart instead of fear. So how can you lean into those feelings? This season with intention questions to ask yourself? You know, where am I hiding in my life? And I don't just mean from a be seen visibility perspective, like where are you hiding in one on one conversations with people? Where are you hiding in the conversations you have with yourself? Where are you hiding in the mirror your reflection? And where are you seeking approval instead of authenticity? Where are you accidentally giving away your power by projecting it on to some kind of an authority figure instead of gathering yourself for yourself. Think about the difference between manifestation and alignment. I've never been a manifestation gally. You have never heard me talk about that in detail on this show or anywhere. I don't necessarily buy into manifestation culture because mostly the way I hear it in the mainstream, it's just not rooted in gratitude. What I always look for and ask for is alignment. When alignment happens for me, that's when everything else is able to rise.
00:32:56
Speaker 2: That's for me.
00:32:57
Speaker 1: But just looking at manifestation, sometimes it can happen. You can like manifest You know that bag of money or this opportunity or that, but it's not really lasting presence. Only alignment brings that. So rather than treating manifestation this season, if you're working with the moon's energy or the astrological energy as simply wishing for outcomes, especially financial invisibility, just understand alignment comes first. Check in with what your values are before your vision. Most visions I find that many people have are really just rooted in Instagram aspiration. They're rooted in comparison and in someone else's structure for what a dream or success is that you're trying to replicate or compare to. So just notice that, observe it. You know, Integrity before opportunity really something that think about and habits before transformation. If you're praying or asking or looking to quote unquote manifest transformation in your life, what are the habits and the devotions and the disciplines you are connecting to in order to do that. Manifestation is not only about attracting things, it's about becoming and then being able to sustain whatever it is that you've magnetized to you. So, yeah, some questions as we end this episode and you think about that some soul work to consider through the rest of this month energetically. What chapter am I ready to close? What identity no longer fits who I'm becoming? What habits support the life I say I want? What conversations have I been avoiding? Where is life asking me to be more courageous? And what would I pursue if fear wasn't making my decision.
00:35:03
Speaker 2: Beautiful? All right in there?
