Speaker 1: Here we go with another quality episode of the Minnesota Goodbye. We're going to reflect back to something that came up on the show earlier. I'm gonna start with that when we're gonna get some older emails. Here in a second from Dara. Hello all, listening to today's show and hearing you talk about flights and not getting snacks? Dave, did you know if you ask most airlines, we'll give you the full can of soda? I ask this all the time, especially on long flights. I do know that, but I kind of feel bad about it.
00:00:26
Speaker 2: Can I get the full can? Yeah?
00:00:29
Speaker 3: I know that you can because I've witnessed other people doing it, But I also feel the same way.
00:00:32
Speaker 2: I feel bad asking.
00:00:33
Speaker 1: Also regarding crap mac and cheese, how come the different versions have a different recipe for the amount of milk or butter to add? I sometimes buy the shapes silly kids love to eat SpongeBob and they require only one tablespoon of butter and a lot less milk. It's always odd to me they have a different amount of butter or milk. When I have more time, I prefer to make homemade mac and cheese and can make it more cheesy by adding more cheese. Love the show from Dara. My mom's specialty was macaroni and cheese. With six kids, defeed, it was probably cheap, and she put velveta in there. Oh my god, it was so good.
00:01:06
Speaker 3: My grandma made mac and cheese as well, But my dad's whole family very poor, like super poor.
00:01:12
Speaker 2: So I don't know what.
00:01:13
Speaker 3: Kind of macaroni my grandma was making, or if she was only putting in like half of the cheese, or putting in some kind of like water substitute other than milk. I don't know what it was, but it had a very distinct flavor, and I loved it. I thought it was delicious, and I've not had it since she died, so I would love to try it again. But I have no idea what kind of mumbo jumbo she was doing making that mac and cheese.
00:01:35
Speaker 4: Mac and cheese was a treat for us because my mom had us eating very healthy every single meal, Like we had a veggie, we had a protein, probably a carbon there. So when we got fucking Kraft mac and cheese from the box, we were like, hell.
00:01:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's good. My mom was not a very good cook. She did not like to cook, and she was not very good at it. She did make a great pineapple wepside down cake and that was one of her specialties. And then she made meat loaf that was decent, but it was never a loaf. It was always like a brownies in a pan. She would spread the hamburger over the pan and bake it that way.
00:02:13
Speaker 2: I mean it was okay, that sounds fine, maybe less juicy.
00:02:16
Speaker 1: But yeah. And then later in when I got older, probably fifteen or so, she discovered putting creama mushroom soup over baked chicken. So she would take chicken because we had plenty of chicken because we raised chickens, and she would pour creama mushroom soup over chicken and bake it. And it was like, my mom, this is pretty good.
00:02:33
Speaker 2: Wow.
00:02:34
Speaker 1: Aaron writes in, and he calls us hello, still employed staff, which I think is funny because Aaron from Plymouth is a smart ass and he makes me laugh. He said. Someone asked last week how good the seats are for radio station giveaways. As a proud prize pig, I can answer that unless the radio station specifically says the location of the tickets front row floor, seats, et cetera. They will be in the far corner three hundred level. Mind you, they're free, and beggars came and be choosers. I do appreciate winning seats to sold out shows like Olivia Rodrigo, Madonna, Madonna, Ed sheer And and Katy Perry. And I was pleasantly surprised by the lower level one hundred seats that I went for Taylor's nineteen eighty nine tour. But as a general rule, always underestimate the quality of your free seats and you will never be disappointed.
00:03:19
Speaker 4: I do know where seats are, or at least levels of seats for this Bruno Mars contest.
00:03:24
Speaker 1: Oh what do you know?
00:03:26
Speaker 5: Do you want me to do?
00:03:27
Speaker 2: You know where I'm at?
00:03:28
Speaker 4: No, I don't know where you're selfing it. Honestly, you're probably if you're getting tickets to the station, you're probably in the three hundreds. But like half the tickets that were given away with this Brunamars contest is three hundreds, and like I should say two thirds and the other third is one hundreds.
00:03:41
Speaker 5: Oh wow, So some are good, some are but yeah.
00:03:44
Speaker 1: And some are in the building.
00:03:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I don't ever want to promise that we give really good seats, because I just know that I've gotten so many seats before with the station, and then I'm sat next to the people who also want tickets. Yeah, and I just know that I've had my fair share of concerts where I'm in the nosebleedze and it's.
00:04:01
Speaker 1: Fine, and it's fine. I would rather give away one hundred pair of cheap seats than three pair of good seats. It's just more fun. We love doing that, for sure. Next one from Francis writes in Hello Jenny, I'm headed to fond to lack for the weekend to go to visit Wisconsin's largest cryptid and paranormal convention with my sister. I was never having been near that area of Wisconsin. I'm wondering what are the top things to do, see and eat in Fond do Tucky. As Dave would say, any off road quest or roadside attraction stops along the way would be greatly appreciated as well. Have a great week. You guys are the best. From Franny.
00:04:39
Speaker 4: Okay, I'm gonna be honest. There's not a whole ton in Faunalac. I would say is like touristy. However, Lakeside Park is really pretty. It's a park that's at the bottom of Lake Winnebago, and man, they have this dope lighthouse, but it has been shut down and like inaccessible the last handful of times I've been, and a lot of times that's in the winter, so they close it for the winter, but even in the summer, ben and it has been shut down. However, you should check that out and try to go up in the lighthouse if it's open.
00:05:06
Speaker 5: Other things. I think it's called.
00:05:08
Speaker 4: The Salty Pig, the Sweet and Salty Pig. That's probably my favorite restaur Yeah, that's probably my favorite restaurant in Fanalac if you're looking for somewhere to eat. But right by the Sweet and Salty Pig is Gilly's Frozen Custard And it's just one of those old school drive in places. You can you can go sit on a picnic bench if you want, but it's a drive up. They come out to your car window, they take your order. It's got your custard, your you know, your burgers, your hot dogs, your fries. Kind of vibe and Gillies is so good, Oh the custards.
00:05:39
Speaker 1: Gilly gilly okay, but no like really special, like pull over the side and take a picture of places.
00:05:46
Speaker 4: Honestly, no, I just I would say, just bop around Lakeside Park that I just think that that's like a staple.
00:05:53
Speaker 5: And then I don't know.
00:05:55
Speaker 4: I always think that the the apple orchard I grew up going to is the best apple orchard still to this day that I've ever been to in terms of the food that they make. But I don't think that they're going to have anything. They might be open right now for you to go do some stuff, but they're not going to have like a lot of in season great options. But that's called the little Farmer. If you want to do some research on that.
00:06:15
Speaker 1: Here's a really interesting email from Sarah. Hello, my favorite radio people. I've emailed a few times before, and I'm thrilled to know y'all think I'm somewhat humorous. So I am a massage therapist in the Carver County area. Let me tell you a little PSA. I have a client whose main therapist is out on some sort of leave and had to seek a new therapist till theirs is doing better. But this fucking client wears headphones and watches a show while they get a rupt down. It's your personal session. I get that that's your time, but in all honesty, that should be a time for you to completely unwind. But this client has tried a couple of times with another therapist, and as I mentioned to my co workers, I'd rather not see him again or they say then they don't say whether it's a man or woman. My other coworker comes to me after that client's visit and talk to me about that experience. We've concluded we both cannot stand said person, but we were always kind of respectful. During my co works experience, my client took a phone call during the whole session. What the fuck? So this prompted me to list a few reminders to those either looking for a massage or trying it out for the first time. I've been a massage therapist for over twelve years, and here we go. Number one, best places to get a massage, usually small, locally owned places, not a chain or franchise. Chains only give you fifty minutes, not a full sixty. Okay, I didn't know that there were chain franchises.
00:07:40
Speaker 2: Yeesagee okay.
00:07:43
Speaker 1: Number two, Please shower before your appointment. If you can. This one's funny but gross. We can tell if you went pooh before your session because there is a lingering scent. Oh doesn't happen often, luckily, but it is noticeable.
00:07:59
Speaker 4: God, wow, thank you for telling I don't ever get massages. I'm not a massage person, but thanks for letting us know that. Run that bidet for like five minutes, right, dang.
00:08:12
Speaker 1: Number three, please brush your teeth before your session or bring them in. Number five, call before if there's any discounts with where I work, we offer a discount. I paid in cash. Number six, don't flirt with me. I will never date a client. Number seven. You are welcome to go completely nude or keep lower undergarments on during your session, but it's highly recommended you lay underneath the sheet before your therapist re enters the room because they'll be like, Okay, get down to the level of nudity that you want to or address that you want to, and then cover yourself with the sheet and I'll be back in five minutes.
00:08:44
Speaker 2: Yeah right, I've never had one.
00:08:46
Speaker 1: You've never had a massage?
00:08:48
Speaker 5: Get naked?
00:08:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, massage and she's a she's put that.
00:08:53
Speaker 1: Or in the lobby though, you got naked in the lobby extra weird.
00:08:57
Speaker 2: It's one of those little traveling people.
00:08:59
Speaker 1: That came to be a lobby number eight. Tipping is not expected, but we do work hard to earn. One. Typical amount on a sixty minute massage is twenty five bucks. Ninety minutes is thirty five plus. So I didn't know that they expected tips. I'm sure that they gladly accept tips. Yeah, Dave, congratulations on the move to Victoria. You're in my neck of the woods. I'll give you and your crew a discount whenever you'd like to come in. Anyway, That was too long. You love y'all from Sarah, But Sarah, you didn't say where your business is, so I don't even know. I guess I could write you back. I would love a massage. So I had one a couple of years ago from somebody who listens to the show. And she was really good, but she was aggressive. I mean like there was a couple of times where it was I almost felt like I had to say, okay, too much. That hurts, that's yeah, but that's I guess how you know it's good.
00:09:49
Speaker 2: That is how you know all right? They really get in there.
00:09:52
Speaker 1: Thanks Sarah. Next email comes from Brittany Jenny. I was listening to Monday's episode. You were asking Dave about what house cleaners do. I am a house cleaner. We clean the bathrooms, the kitchen, We do baseboards, spot check windows, high dust for spiderwebs, dust window sills. Typically we come in and do a deep clean, which does cost more than after that is just keeping it up. Have a great day from brit So their initial cleaning will be a deep clean, okay, and then after that it's just kind of like, you know, good to know. Thank you. We're zipping through these pretty quickly, but I have a few more. Very random. But one of the commercials running on iHeart right now is official American League corn hole gear.
00:10:38
Speaker 5: Ah.
00:10:39
Speaker 1: I thought it was a joke commercial at first, but nope, I'm being told my backyard barbecue game is an embarrassment due to my lackluster corn hole set. Anyway, I know you guys don't get to hear the ads that play, and I thought you might find this funny as well. All right, from Denise, I didn't know that there was official American League corn hole gear.
00:11:00
Speaker 3: Thank goodness I know about it now because now I can operate through life in a different way.
00:11:04
Speaker 2: Right, so glad? Yeah?
00:11:07
Speaker 5: How you play corn? Home?
00:11:08
Speaker 2: I throw a little bag into a little hole?
00:11:11
Speaker 5: What is it? What happens if you throw it into the hole?
00:11:14
Speaker 2: Get two points?
00:11:15
Speaker 4: I think it's three. Oh, I think it's three if you get it into the hole. I think it's one. If you get it on to the board and drink a beer and watch the boys do it and.
00:11:22
Speaker 2: Go yeah, good job.
00:11:27
Speaker 1: All right, wrap it up with one more email. It's a short one, so let me just clicky CLICKI and here we go. Hello morning crew. Okay, seriously, doesn't Bonnie Green on the ten am traffic report sound exactly like that chick on the Weakest Link Glee Jane Lynch.
00:11:44
Speaker 2: Oh, Bonnie Green.
00:11:46
Speaker 1: And that's your latest total traffic? Anybody else with you?
00:11:49
Speaker 2: She does?
00:11:49
Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I like Jane Lynch. She's unclely. She's like the mean lady unclee.
00:11:53
Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know anything about Bonnie Green. I've never met her before. I think she does fine. I think the funny thing is is that she's in Chicago. She's not even here. She's watching the traffic monitors. I think in Chicago, where our metro traffic headquarters is the last I heard. And that's why we've often had troubles with traffic reporters mispronouncing local streets and cities. Larpenter, how do you say larpener? Well, you say at larpender rights with carpenter, but it's not spelled that way. It's spelled larpentur yea. And so once in a while they'll take a guess at it and it's like, oh, there's a backup on larpentur at ninety four, and then you can tell they're not from here. And so five or six or seven years ago, I got really annoyed because the traffic reporter not from here kept saying larpent tour, and I called the powers that be and I said, can you get them to stop saying Larpentur. It took months, really until they finally responded and got it right, and they were very apologetic, but I was like, bitch, come on.
00:12:53
Speaker 3: It's interesting now, though, because I bet I could just message Bonnie Green on Instagram and be like, you're mispronouncing Larpentur.
00:13:02
Speaker 1: Now you could, yeah, I probably could. I probably could back then too, And I don't remember why. She continues, I'm flabbergasted to say that when listening to Katie w to Be Live on the Right iHeartRadio app, they do not display the artist's name, just the song title. I just don't think that's right. What's the deal with that?
00:13:18
Speaker 2: What's the deal?
00:13:20
Speaker 1: She also says, Missia Juanita, I'm going to go ahead and say, Juanita, you can record a rant again, and we're going to see if we can get it to work, because I think I have figured out the way to make it play down the recording device. So try it. Juanita, will try it next week and we'll see how we do. So, Juanita, we're looking forward to having you back give us another rant, and because me reading them is you know, maybe five percent of the entertainment value that you always give us. So Tammy says, thanks for always making my mornings bearable. You're more than welcome. Tammy, thank you for listening. We appreciate you, and we appreciate your email. All the emails this morning. Send them to Ryan Show. We need more at aol dot com. I was just seeing if you guys.
00:14:07
Speaker 5: Were paying at cocuse everyone out.
00:14:11
Speaker 1: No, nobody will think that. I just sometimes think that you guys so zone out that you don't listen to what I say.
00:14:16
Speaker 5: That's not it. It's just that we can multitask.
00:14:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, because I said Ryan Show and then I paused at AOL dot com to see whether you guys would sew, and you did. And Ryanshow at Yahoo dot.
00:14:28
Speaker 5: Com confused people.
00:14:31
Speaker 1: Ryan Show at k d w B dot.
00:14:34
Speaker 5: Com they've already stopped listening.
00:14:35
Speaker 1: Okay, probably
