00:00:03.120 --> 00:00:05.599
Hello and welcome to Conversations Worth Your While.
00:00:05.839 --> 00:00:15.679
It's a show in which I chat with authentic heart setter experts about interesting topics to spark and inspire and motivate both personal and professional change.
00:00:15.839 --> 00:00:20.559
And today's topic is about burnout, specifically the burnout epidemic.
00:00:20.800 --> 00:00:24.079
We're going to share with you easy ways to break that cycle.
00:00:24.399 --> 00:00:33.439
This conversation is worth your while if you've encountered such a level of stress that you are feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and actually you're at the point of burnout.
00:00:33.600 --> 00:00:46.640
And if you've decided that you don't want to spend another day feeling like this, then you're going to love today's episode where we share practical tools to help you find more time and more energy because burnout is preventable.
00:00:46.799 --> 00:00:51.359
There is an easier way, and it's time to start living your life.
00:00:51.600 --> 00:00:53.119
So I'm Linda Booker.
00:00:53.200 --> 00:00:56.880
I'm a transformational speaker and a master certified life coach.
00:00:57.039 --> 00:00:58.799
And oh my gosh, you hear all those dings?
00:00:59.039 --> 00:00:59.359
Weird.
00:00:59.520 --> 00:01:08.159
Anyway, after uh living the life of a chameleon and feeling totally like a victim for about 45 years, I finally discovered who I am.
00:01:08.319 --> 00:01:16.560
I connected with my passion and my purpose, and I reinvented my life to align with the person that I found when I discovered myself.
00:01:16.719 --> 00:01:17.359
And you know what?
00:01:17.439 --> 00:01:18.959
When you do that, guess what?
00:01:19.120 --> 00:01:21.760
I became happier, more confident, more fulfilled.
00:01:21.920 --> 00:01:28.480
But most importantly, this transformation resulted in me confidently unleashing my gifts into the world.
00:01:28.640 --> 00:01:35.280
And so now it's my honor and privilege to help you do the same in your life because you do have a rich, full life to leave.
00:01:35.599 --> 00:01:39.439
You have important gifts to give to the world and you have a splash to make.
00:01:39.680 --> 00:01:42.000
For that to happen, you got to know your worth.
00:01:42.159 --> 00:01:53.439
You got to be clear on your purpose, you've got to harness those gifts and own the power that you have and then align your energy and direction and free yourself from all those crazy obstacles that want to hold you back.
00:01:53.599 --> 00:01:57.599
So if that's something you want to do, then how about this?
00:01:57.760 --> 00:02:01.920
How about we talk about making a making a map?
00:02:02.159 --> 00:02:04.959
So if you want to find your path, you can do that with me.
00:02:05.120 --> 00:02:11.199
I have a pathfinding session that will help you to, in just 90 minutes, unlock that path to your future.
00:02:11.360 --> 00:02:14.479
So if you want to do that, you can find that on my website.
00:02:14.719 --> 00:02:19.599
All right, so to today's episode where we will be talking about burnout.
00:02:19.680 --> 00:02:24.000
I have a wonderful expert with me today, and she's got a lot of surprises for you.
00:02:24.159 --> 00:02:26.319
Um, it's Lisa Gornell.
00:02:26.479 --> 00:02:32.400
She is an energy and mindset strategist, and Lisa is making big, beautiful ripples in this world.
00:02:32.639 --> 00:02:39.360
So, Lisa, can you tell us a little bit more about what you do, who you serve, how you're making ripples?
00:02:39.439 --> 00:02:41.759
Because I'm so happy to have you with us today.
00:02:42.080 --> 00:02:42.800
Thank you.
00:02:43.120 --> 00:02:48.400
So I was born with the ability to just really help people get to the root of what's driving them.
00:02:48.639 --> 00:02:54.639
And through my own personal experience, I've realized that we're all overworking, overgiving for multiple reasons.
00:02:54.719 --> 00:03:02.639
And so I like to help my clients get to the root of that so that way they can reclaim their power, they can be happy, they have more time, and they have more energy.
00:03:03.840 --> 00:03:04.960
Everybody wants that.
00:03:05.120 --> 00:03:07.919
More time, more energy, more happiness, right?
00:03:08.479 --> 00:03:09.280
Absolutely.
00:03:09.520 --> 00:03:12.639
So let's start with burnout in general.
00:03:12.800 --> 00:03:17.599
Okay, so you know, everybody is stressed, everybody's got stressors.
00:03:17.680 --> 00:03:21.520
And I always say, you know, stress is inevitable, but being stressed out is optional.
00:03:21.759 --> 00:03:24.319
Um, but we've got all these stressors coming at us.
00:03:24.560 --> 00:03:32.000
And when we ignore it and we just let it pile up after time, that's when we get to burnout.
00:03:32.080 --> 00:03:36.240
And burnout, I think a lot of people think they might have burnout before they really have burnout.
00:03:36.400 --> 00:03:38.240
But what that is, is that's like a signal.
00:03:38.319 --> 00:03:40.639
They know, like, okay, burnout's on its way.
00:03:40.719 --> 00:03:42.879
And but of course they don't pay any attention to that.
00:03:43.039 --> 00:03:45.120
But it's kind of like um this analogy.
00:03:45.199 --> 00:03:47.680
Like I heard one time and I thought this was hilarious.
00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:54.639
Not that it's hilarious, but like the the what it made me realize.
00:03:54.719 --> 00:03:59.360
It says, it said, um, there's no such thing as a sudden heart attack.
00:03:59.439 --> 00:04:01.520
It takes years and years of preparation.
00:04:01.759 --> 00:04:05.599
So obviously that means that it isn't sudden.
00:04:05.759 --> 00:04:06.639
It's our lifestyle.
00:04:06.719 --> 00:04:10.800
And if we don't change our lifestyle, then why would we be surprised that we had a heart attack?
00:04:10.879 --> 00:04:12.719
Like, don't be surprised, it wasn't really sudden.
00:04:12.879 --> 00:04:13.199
Okay.
00:04:13.520 --> 00:04:15.439
So, same thing with burnout.
00:04:15.599 --> 00:04:16.959
It's not sudden.
00:04:17.120 --> 00:04:25.120
There's so many things along the way, so many things that we, you know, that we intuitively know there's we get physical symptoms.
00:04:25.199 --> 00:04:30.000
We get all sorts of hello, bells and whistles, stress too much, too much, too much, right?
00:04:30.160 --> 00:04:33.680
So, can you tell us a little bit about your story of burnout?
00:04:33.759 --> 00:04:38.160
I know you've you've hit it twice because like all of us, nobody learns the first time.
00:04:38.240 --> 00:04:39.839
We're like, what's a plus off fluke?
00:04:40.079 --> 00:04:41.759
So tell us a little more about your story.
00:04:42.000 --> 00:04:42.160
Yeah.
00:04:42.240 --> 00:04:46.160
So the first time wasn't so the very first time I experienced burnout, I was 18.
00:04:46.319 --> 00:04:52.240
I was a freshman in college, I was working three jobs, and I just kept going, going, going, and going.
00:04:52.879 --> 00:04:56.560
And I got mono, which totally knocked me out.
00:04:56.720 --> 00:05:06.160
And if you've ever had mono, it's something that takes months to recover from, which is the worst thing that can happen to a high performer because you're like, I have bills to pay, I have work to do.
00:05:06.399 --> 00:05:09.519
They need me, I need to be there, right?
00:05:09.759 --> 00:05:14.879
All these things were going through my head, and there was nothing that I can do except for lay there and try to heal, right?
00:05:15.120 --> 00:05:16.800
So that happened when I was 18.
00:05:17.040 --> 00:05:26.480
And then about I don't even know how long ago it was, maybe eight, nine years ago, I tore my Achilles, which may not sound like burnout, but what happened was it completely stopped me.
00:05:26.639 --> 00:05:28.560
I was in the middle of writing my third book.
00:05:28.720 --> 00:05:32.480
I actually completely scrapped it and restarted that book after I healed.
00:05:32.720 --> 00:05:43.199
And it really like, so when I talk about burnout, it's just something that's happening where you're running on all cylinders, you're overgiving your time, you're overgiving your energy, you're exhausted, you're overwhelmed.
00:05:43.439 --> 00:05:47.680
And something happens in your life, whether it's sickness or injury, that stops you.
00:05:48.160 --> 00:05:51.680
And there's nothing you can do to just jump back in and do what you've always done.
00:05:51.920 --> 00:05:59.360
And so my second time was when I tore my Achilles tendon and I was unrest for six weeks because I didn't care completely to have surgery.
00:05:59.439 --> 00:06:01.519
I tore it just enough that it needed to rest.
00:06:01.600 --> 00:06:04.079
And I was working in spas and doing all these things at the time.
00:06:04.319 --> 00:06:05.680
I couldn't do any of it.
00:06:06.319 --> 00:06:11.519
You know, I think the universe interferes for sure.
00:06:12.000 --> 00:06:22.079
And um and a lot of times it's with physical symptoms that are tied to the actual causes of stress, right?
00:06:22.160 --> 00:06:26.959
So our bodies are physically manifesting what's going on in our heads for sure.
00:06:27.199 --> 00:06:45.040
And my own personal experience, um, well, first of all, I did have mono, and it's funny, it was my senior year in college, and I missed a lot of my senior year um last semester because I was so sick and I was, you know, I could barely do anything.
00:06:45.600 --> 00:06:49.279
And I remember like I take a shower and then I need a four-hour nap.
00:06:49.519 --> 00:06:52.560
It was like like I just wasn't, it was just too much.
00:06:52.720 --> 00:06:54.800
I was, and you know, again, college, same thing.
00:06:54.879 --> 00:06:57.360
You're you're and I'm an overachiever, so yeah, I get that.
00:06:57.519 --> 00:06:59.439
Of course, and a high performer.
00:06:59.680 --> 00:07:06.399
And um, and then another time that I was really stressed out, and it wasn't actually, it's not always work-related.
00:07:06.639 --> 00:07:15.120
Stress comes from all sorts of areas, you know, it's coming from all around us, whatever we're, and it's coming from how we process what's happening around us.
00:07:15.199 --> 00:07:25.439
So, yeah, they're stressors, but what I mean by stress is is inevitable, that's the the stressors, but being stressed out is optional means uh you can choose how you process these stressors.
00:07:25.519 --> 00:07:31.199
You don't need to internalize them because when you do, that's when you get these other things.
00:07:31.360 --> 00:07:38.160
I had um my gallbladder was working at about 25% capacity, and I couldn't eat anything delicious.
00:07:38.480 --> 00:07:41.279
I was just had indigestion 24-7.
00:07:41.519 --> 00:07:42.560
It was awful.
00:07:42.800 --> 00:07:49.759
Um, I gained 22 pounds in stress weight, total, total weight from what was going on in my life at that time.
00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:58.319
And my neck and back were so stiffened in so much pain, I couldn't sit for five minutes in a meeting at work, and I couldn't sleep for more than 15 minutes without waking up in pain.
00:07:58.480 --> 00:07:59.680
Okay, so that's the universe.
00:07:59.759 --> 00:08:01.600
Like, hey, you ain't listening.
00:08:01.920 --> 00:08:06.160
So I'm gonna get a little noisier and here, take this, this, and this.
00:08:06.240 --> 00:08:10.240
Now see what you're gonna do with all those symptoms all at the same time.
00:08:10.639 --> 00:08:16.240
So it is really crazy, but we do hold all of that in our bodies, right?
00:08:16.560 --> 00:08:16.959
We do.
00:08:17.040 --> 00:08:19.839
We store the stress in our body to deal with later.
00:08:20.959 --> 00:08:23.439
When is that later in quotation marks?
00:08:23.680 --> 00:08:34.399
It's when somebody cuts you off in your car, when a family member says something, when something that's you know out of your control happens and you explode over something so little, and it releases a little bit of that stress that we're holding.
00:08:34.480 --> 00:08:36.399
It releases a little bit of the pressure, but not enough.
00:08:36.559 --> 00:08:38.879
And then now we have to go fix what we just did.
00:08:39.120 --> 00:08:41.120
Yeah, it hurt somebody for no reason.
00:08:41.360 --> 00:08:41.519
Right.
00:08:41.600 --> 00:08:42.799
Now that's another stressor.
00:08:42.960 --> 00:08:43.440
What?
00:08:44.080 --> 00:08:45.679
You know, totally.
00:08:46.240 --> 00:08:54.879
So um, all right, so one of the main things that people are not doing that is causing stress, A, they're not listening to their body.
00:08:55.039 --> 00:08:55.519
Hello.
00:08:55.679 --> 00:08:59.360
The first time it says slow down, slow down, right?
00:08:59.600 --> 00:09:05.519
So and B, they're they're not, they're not even, they wouldn't get that far if they would just recharge, right?
00:09:05.600 --> 00:09:07.600
People don't really know how to recharge.
00:09:07.759 --> 00:09:17.120
We don't know what to do with ourselves if we're not doing, doing, doing, and you know, so let's talk a little bit about this concept of recharging.
00:09:17.279 --> 00:09:19.120
Like I think of it like a cell phone, right?
00:09:19.279 --> 00:09:21.759
You use the battery, plug it in, or else guess what?
00:09:21.840 --> 00:09:23.600
Tomorrow it's not gonna work very well.
00:09:24.159 --> 00:09:24.399
Right.
00:09:24.480 --> 00:09:25.600
And it's the same thing with us.
00:09:25.679 --> 00:09:27.919
We're not plugging in, we are not recharging.
00:09:28.080 --> 00:09:32.799
We just keep going and doing, and then we think, okay, it's three o'clock, I'm exhausted, I can't make it anymore.
00:09:32.960 --> 00:09:37.440
And we're throwing in these caffeine supplements and eating junk and all this stuff to try to get us through the day.
00:09:37.759 --> 00:09:41.840
You guys, that's not recharging, that's hurting your body, okay?
00:09:42.080 --> 00:09:45.279
Recharging looks like things that give you back energy.
00:09:45.600 --> 00:09:45.840
Okay.
00:09:46.240 --> 00:10:02.080
And things like that are taking breaks, scheduling your day in such a way that you're not overcommitted, making sure you get enough sleep that night, eating foods that support your body, doing things that you want to do outside of work.
00:10:02.240 --> 00:10:03.039
I know you have them.
00:10:03.200 --> 00:10:06.080
Sometimes we have to dig them out of you, but I know that you have them.
00:10:06.720 --> 00:10:07.039
Yeah.
00:10:07.279 --> 00:10:15.759
And getting to know yourself too, because uh recharging for one person might be taking a nap, recharging for another person might be taking a walk at the park.
00:10:15.919 --> 00:10:17.120
So you need to know yourself.
00:10:17.200 --> 00:10:20.559
It's not like there's not a one size fits all of recharging.
00:10:20.799 --> 00:10:26.639
I know, you know, the difference between an introvert and an extrovert is how you recharge.
00:10:26.720 --> 00:10:28.399
It's not whether you're outgoing or not.
00:10:28.559 --> 00:10:31.279
Like there's a plenty of introverts that are super outgoing.
00:10:31.440 --> 00:10:35.200
It's just they need to be in a quiet room and stare at a wall to recharge.
00:10:35.600 --> 00:10:36.960
I'm an extrovert.
00:10:37.120 --> 00:10:38.080
I get energy.
00:10:38.159 --> 00:10:43.200
Well, also being a projector, I get energy from other people and then I amplify it and make it really big.
00:10:43.440 --> 00:10:47.679
And so I feel recharged when I'm with people for the most part.
00:10:47.840 --> 00:11:00.639
Um, but then um I recognize, you know, like I've just been, I spent the entire winter hosting a lot of people at uh a second home that I have, getting a lot, you know, was new and people want to come and visit and see us.
00:11:00.720 --> 00:11:04.960
And we have five kids between us, and you know, oh, come and see, come and see, come and see.
00:11:05.039 --> 00:11:10.080
And uh, then I'm like not doing my work, and and instead I'm hosting and you know, whatever.
00:11:10.240 --> 00:11:16.000
And then we drove back, and then my daughter's graduation, and then my daughter stayed here a week and a half, and we had to buy our car and like all this stuff.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:23.360
And I could feel that I need like like if it got to that point, because I'm usually pretty good with my energy, like, oh, I'm all done.
00:11:23.519 --> 00:11:25.120
I feel like doing nothing now.
00:11:25.360 --> 00:11:30.159
But if I got to that point and I knew I really needed to do something about it.
00:11:30.320 --> 00:11:34.320
So, like on Sunday, I'm like, I'm doing nothing day off, total day off.
00:11:34.480 --> 00:11:40.159
So, like you said, scheduling the time to recharge whatever that looks like for you.
00:11:40.960 --> 00:11:41.279
Right.
00:11:41.519 --> 00:11:43.840
And yeah, everybody's gonna need different things.
00:11:44.000 --> 00:11:51.039
I like literally have lists of people that I create with each individual because, like you said, we're all different, we all have different requirements.
00:11:51.279 --> 00:11:55.600
And so, you know, a lot of people will feel guilty for just going and sitting on a couch.
00:11:56.240 --> 00:11:57.440
I have all these things to do.
00:11:57.600 --> 00:11:58.879
I can't sit on the couch.
00:11:59.600 --> 00:12:03.919
If you're getting, I need to sit on the couch, your intuition is always guiding you.
00:12:04.080 --> 00:12:09.120
Your intuition is saying your body's exhausted, you are on a bad path, this is not good for you.
00:12:09.360 --> 00:12:10.720
Listen to that message.
00:12:10.879 --> 00:12:13.519
You know, listen to your intuition, listen to your body's messages.
00:12:13.679 --> 00:12:20.480
If your body's saying, Oh, you know, from my note, you get those aches and pains in your back, like if you start to get those aches and pains, you're done.
00:12:20.960 --> 00:12:24.639
So, what are your body signs that you've pushed yourself too far?
00:12:24.879 --> 00:12:29.120
Those are your signs to start listening to to prevent that burnout from coming.
00:12:29.200 --> 00:12:32.240
Because burnout will come if you continue to ignore your body's messages.
00:12:32.320 --> 00:12:34.480
It's not an if, it's a when.
00:12:34.720 --> 00:12:35.039
Yeah.
00:12:35.200 --> 00:12:43.440
And I love that you brought up intuition because you know, our our intuition, I mean, every single person will relate to the statement.
00:12:43.600 --> 00:12:47.440
Whether you listened to your gut or you didn't, it was always right.
00:12:48.399 --> 00:12:52.399
You all know, everybody knows, you know, oh, I should have listened to my gut.
00:12:52.480 --> 00:12:54.080
You've said that, everybody said that, right?
00:12:54.159 --> 00:12:56.080
Or I'm so glad I listened to my gut.
00:12:56.240 --> 00:13:00.559
We're always resentful or regretful if when we have or like, darn, I should have.
00:13:00.879 --> 00:13:11.519
So your your gut, your intuition, you know, that inner knowing, we all have that whether it's just a matter of being in tune with it, because you gotta listen, you gotta ask, you gotta slow down, right?
00:13:11.600 --> 00:13:12.480
You gotta slow it up.
00:13:12.720 --> 00:13:13.519
You have to have space.
00:13:13.759 --> 00:13:15.120
Give yourself to have space.
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:23.519
If you don't like space for your intuition to come in, it's gonna come in when you're driving your car, when you're doing the laundry, when you're chopping vegetables, some mundane task.
00:13:23.600 --> 00:13:25.840
It's gonna like try to make its way to come in.
00:13:25.919 --> 00:13:27.519
And what are you probably gonna do?
00:13:27.759 --> 00:13:29.919
You're probably gonna ignore it because you're busy.
00:13:30.080 --> 00:13:31.360
You're busy, it's busy.
00:13:31.519 --> 00:13:31.679
Right.
00:13:31.840 --> 00:13:37.440
You need to make time to be and connect with your intuition because it will guide you on your personal best path every time.
00:13:37.759 --> 00:13:38.480
Every time.
00:13:38.799 --> 00:13:45.279
So you it is your GPS, it's pointing you on which way to go every day, every minute of every day.
00:13:45.440 --> 00:13:49.679
If you can just listen, your head doesn't know where to go, it just knows how to get there.
00:13:49.840 --> 00:13:50.799
It's your race car.
00:13:50.960 --> 00:13:52.480
Okay, that's your logical part.
00:13:52.559 --> 00:13:53.200
It's your race car.
00:13:53.279 --> 00:13:56.879
I'm race, I'm fast, I'm smart, I'm capable, I can get anywhere.
00:13:57.039 --> 00:13:59.679
Yes, you can, but where do I go?
00:13:59.840 --> 00:14:03.039
That's a job for your intuition because your head's just making it up.
00:14:03.120 --> 00:14:05.600
It's just, it's just trying to overachieve.
00:14:05.759 --> 00:14:08.080
Now, let's talk about the reasons.
00:14:08.159 --> 00:14:09.679
Okay, so why?
00:14:09.840 --> 00:14:12.960
So, one of the biggest things about stress for everybody.
00:14:13.120 --> 00:14:14.320
Why are you an overgiver?
00:14:14.639 --> 00:14:16.159
Why are you an overachiever?
00:14:16.320 --> 00:14:17.759
Why are you an overworker?
00:14:17.919 --> 00:14:19.360
Why are you an overwhelmer?
00:14:19.519 --> 00:14:20.559
Over, over, over.
00:14:20.639 --> 00:14:24.720
That is a big giant clue that you are trying to prove yourself.
00:14:24.960 --> 00:14:25.679
Period.
00:14:26.080 --> 00:14:30.159
Everybody is trying to prove themselves, and let's talk about why.
00:14:30.879 --> 00:14:34.720
So, this is something that I've named the success wound, right?
00:14:35.039 --> 00:14:42.559
So, we are trying to prove to others through our work or through overgiving that you are worthy, that you are enough, or that you are loved.
00:14:42.639 --> 00:14:45.440
You're either proving one, two, or all three of those things.
00:14:45.679 --> 00:14:49.200
And here's the thing about proving things to others it's impossible.
00:14:49.440 --> 00:14:53.440
Because when we try to prove something to somebody else, it comes off as this icky energy.
00:14:53.759 --> 00:14:58.000
But you're stuck in the success room that's telling you, I have to prove that I'm worthy at work.
00:14:58.080 --> 00:15:00.080
I have to work Saturday to get this done.
00:15:00.159 --> 00:15:05.200
I have to take this call at eight o'clock at night, I have to work on my vacation because I am proving something.
00:15:05.679 --> 00:15:07.360
You guys are not proving anything.
00:15:07.600 --> 00:15:15.519
You're taking this time that you're supposed to be recharging and you're working and you're hurting yourself because your body cannot go all the time.
00:15:15.679 --> 00:15:27.679
And so, whenever you start to overgive, overdo, when you're focused on more, more and more, when you're hitting that goal and moving immediately onto the next one, you are operating from your success wound and you want to stop that immediately.
00:15:28.480 --> 00:15:29.120
Absolutely.
00:15:29.279 --> 00:15:30.480
I totally agree.
00:15:30.799 --> 00:15:36.240
And uh the thing, you know, you brought up that you cannot prove yourself to someone else.
00:15:36.399 --> 00:15:38.480
And that's a thousand percent true.
00:15:38.639 --> 00:15:44.480
Okay, so people can only see you through the lens of their experience.
00:15:44.720 --> 00:15:46.960
Their lenses are all covered in schmutz.
00:15:47.360 --> 00:15:52.720
And if the schmutz is their own fears, their own insecurities, their own success wounds.
00:15:52.879 --> 00:15:54.399
That's how they see you.
00:15:54.559 --> 00:15:56.480
They cannot see the true, real you.
00:15:56.639 --> 00:16:06.799
So no matter what you try to prove to be, I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, I'm, you know, whatever enough, they're only able to see you through their lens, not through the truth.
00:16:07.039 --> 00:16:10.720
And you're only able to see them through your lenses of schmutz.
00:16:10.879 --> 00:16:15.919
Now it is your own personal job to deschmutz your lens, and that's what I do, and that's what Lisa does.
00:16:16.080 --> 00:16:22.480
We help you deschmutz that so that you can see more clearly, not just others, but yourself.
00:16:22.639 --> 00:16:27.600
And that is a huge big aha that I hope everyone takes out of this.
00:16:27.759 --> 00:16:37.600
Is when you truly can see yourself, if you're brave enough to do it, and I want to give you a hint, you don't need to be brave because you're gonna love who you fight.
00:16:38.639 --> 00:16:48.559
When you're brave enough to do it, then you can finally see others differently, and then you can start to repair your own sense of worthiness.
00:16:48.720 --> 00:16:57.039
And that is the fundamental number one thing we need to do to show up as our best self in the world for all those people who deserve our best selves.
00:16:57.120 --> 00:16:58.639
That's the number one thing we do.
00:16:58.879 --> 00:17:05.759
So tell us a little bit about what you discover, like when people are having these patterns of I'm not good enough, right?
00:17:05.839 --> 00:17:08.400
Or trying to do something outside their comfort zone.
00:17:08.480 --> 00:17:11.279
Like, what do you see in the work you're doing, Lisa?
00:17:11.759 --> 00:17:23.680
So I usually see people reverting back to something that they either experienced from their childhood, you know, if you believe in past lives, which obviously I do as a medium, people are pulling in, you know, experiences that they had from a past life.
00:17:23.839 --> 00:17:30.480
We're always trying to heal something, some experience, some wrong that happened to us, okay?
00:17:30.720 --> 00:17:31.519
We're never done.
00:17:31.680 --> 00:17:32.720
Healing is never done.
00:17:32.880 --> 00:17:34.720
So people are like, I've spent all these years healing.
00:17:34.799 --> 00:17:38.000
You're we're not done because we'll just start pulling us up from other lives, okay?
00:17:38.160 --> 00:17:43.119
And they show up in these experiences for you to heal and be free.
00:17:43.440 --> 00:17:46.319
That's the ultimate goal, is for us to be free.
00:17:46.480 --> 00:17:46.799
Okay.
00:17:47.440 --> 00:17:57.680
So when we start, you know, going back into I, you know, I've been proving my worth, I've been proving I'm enough, I'm proving that I'm love, I'm recognizing that I'm doing this.
00:17:58.160 --> 00:18:00.960
In that moment, you want to stop doing it.
00:18:01.119 --> 00:18:02.079
That's step number one.
00:18:02.240 --> 00:18:10.400
Whatever you're doing in that moment, you have to stop because I can, you know, clear your energy and get you into a good space, but the the moment of change is in that moment.
00:18:10.480 --> 00:18:13.759
So you have to recognize I'm trying to prove my worth at work again.
00:18:13.920 --> 00:18:16.079
I just took on this whole workload for no reason.
00:18:16.240 --> 00:18:18.559
And what you've got to do is you've got to say stop.
00:18:19.279 --> 00:18:25.599
The next question I want you to ask yourself is, what am I saying no to for me by doing this?
00:18:26.079 --> 00:18:26.480
Right?
00:18:26.720 --> 00:18:29.920
Because we're always spending time and energy and we only have so much in the day.
00:18:30.079 --> 00:18:35.519
So the more you're trying to take on or do, right, for other people, you're saying no to yourself.
00:18:35.759 --> 00:18:43.680
So that's often a great way for us to stop and look and be more objective and say, you know, I really wanted to go to yoga tonight and now I can't.
00:18:43.920 --> 00:18:47.519
Or I really wanted to go for a swim or a run and now I don't have the time.
00:18:47.680 --> 00:18:50.160
So you need to think about the cost to you.
00:18:50.559 --> 00:18:54.880
Because when you're in a new situation, you're just gonna stop into those old patterns because your brain's not thinking.
00:18:54.960 --> 00:18:57.359
Your brain's just like, oh, here's the situation, this is what we do.
00:18:57.839 --> 00:18:59.039
So you're gonna stop.
00:18:59.200 --> 00:19:06.480
You're gonna ask yourself what this time cost is to you, and then you're gonna make a decision that's gonna best support you, and you're gonna do that instead.
00:19:06.640 --> 00:19:08.480
You have to make a new choice.
00:19:08.720 --> 00:19:09.039
Okay.
00:19:09.200 --> 00:19:12.240
If we don't make a new choice, you're not gonna have new results.
00:19:12.400 --> 00:19:14.960
You are the common denominator in your life.
00:19:15.119 --> 00:19:17.680
So to get a new result, you have to do something new.
00:19:17.839 --> 00:19:23.440
So when you would normally take on that work, you can say, Oh, I would take that on, but then I can't complete this task.
00:19:23.680 --> 00:19:27.680
Which task is more important for me to do, and who can I hand this other thing off to?
00:19:28.319 --> 00:19:28.480
Right?
00:19:28.720 --> 00:19:29.920
That's just a working sample.
00:19:30.240 --> 00:19:30.640
It is.
00:19:30.720 --> 00:19:33.920
And I love that you're talking about addressing the trade-off.
00:19:34.160 --> 00:19:35.920
That's that's really what you're doing.
00:19:36.079 --> 00:19:37.680
And you're addressing it personally.
00:19:37.839 --> 00:19:42.160
If I take this on, what's this other thing I'm gonna have to get up that give up that I really want to do?
00:19:42.319 --> 00:19:47.200
And if I'm experiencing overwhelm and I'm out of balance, then why am I doing that again?
00:19:47.359 --> 00:19:49.680
Oh, look at it's a pattern, right?
00:19:50.079 --> 00:19:55.200
Um, but then also, like people will argue, well, yeah, but my boss gave me this extra thing.
00:19:55.279 --> 00:19:56.640
How am I supposed to say no to that?
00:19:56.880 --> 00:20:00.240
Well, you can also discuss trade-offs with your boss.
00:20:00.400 --> 00:20:03.119
Like, listen, I I would be willing to do that.
00:20:03.200 --> 00:20:04.400
And yes, I can do that.
00:20:04.559 --> 00:20:07.200
However, I've got five other things I'm working on.
00:20:07.279 --> 00:20:10.880
So would you like me to which one would you like me to put down so I can do that?
00:20:11.039 --> 00:20:16.079
Because I can only do five well, or I could do six mediocre, but I want you to make that decision.
00:20:16.160 --> 00:20:17.519
You tell me what I should do.
00:20:17.680 --> 00:20:29.839
That's a conversation that is sharing, you know, with your boss that you recognize your own limitations and that you're more interested in doing something well than doing more, doing something more, right?
00:20:30.000 --> 00:20:31.119
So that's a conversation.
00:20:31.279 --> 00:20:37.519
So you can have these trade-offs with yourself first, like think about the trade-off, make your decision, and then have that conversation.
00:20:37.759 --> 00:20:43.200
And again, if you're afraid to have that conversation, it's because you need to repair that sense of self-worth.
00:20:43.359 --> 00:20:46.799
So that is, again, the fundamental thing.
00:20:46.960 --> 00:20:51.359
We're we're stuck in these patterns because we don't truly believe we're enough.
00:20:51.519 --> 00:20:54.720
We don't truly believe we have we believe we have to prove ourselves.
00:20:54.880 --> 00:20:56.960
We're saying yes when we mean no.
00:20:57.440 --> 00:21:04.400
We're we're, you know, giving all our love to everybody else and not leaving anything left for ourselves.
00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:14.720
And it is absolutely unselfish to discover how just how worthy you are and truly love yourself.
00:21:14.880 --> 00:21:23.279
Because when that happens, you won't have as many needs that need to be filled, and you will have less stuff to have to fill, right?
00:21:23.359 --> 00:21:25.440
That's that's one way to get stuff off your plate.
00:21:25.599 --> 00:21:26.720
You won't be needy.
00:21:26.799 --> 00:21:37.359
Like how wonderful is that when you're in balance and you're and you love who you are and you know that you're worthy, and you you're gonna stop doing things to prove yourself to other people.
00:21:37.519 --> 00:21:43.119
It's a beautiful place to be, and that's the place, and that's the person that your loved ones deserve.
00:21:43.440 --> 00:21:45.519
Yeah, and we want to make ourselves a priority.
00:21:45.680 --> 00:21:51.200
I know that we are taught, especially as women, not to make ourselves a priority, everybody else first.
00:21:51.359 --> 00:21:53.119
But what do they tell you on the airplane?
00:21:53.279 --> 00:21:56.799
You have to put the oxygen mask on yourself first before you can take care of other people.
00:21:57.039 --> 00:21:58.559
You will run out of oxygen.
00:21:58.720 --> 00:21:59.759
The same is true for.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:04.079
All of you that are overgiving and overworking, you are on the path to burnout.
00:22:04.240 --> 00:22:06.400
It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
00:22:06.559 --> 00:22:13.279
And how can you start giving yourself more self-care, which is how you recharge, to prevent that burnout from happening?
00:22:13.440 --> 00:22:19.599
Because I promise you, every high performer I've worked with that has experienced burnout is like this sucks.
00:22:20.160 --> 00:22:23.279
It sucks because you can't do the things you want to do.
00:22:23.680 --> 00:22:24.319
Right.
00:22:24.640 --> 00:22:34.000
So if someone is saying, like I see this all the time on on the internet, everybody's posting about self-care, right?
00:22:34.400 --> 00:22:38.240
I posted about why you're avoiding and feeling guilty about self-care.
00:22:38.640 --> 00:22:40.160
That's what I'm posting about.
00:22:40.559 --> 00:22:43.359
Um, and again, it comes down to that worthiness.
00:22:43.519 --> 00:22:52.160
So, what would you say to somebody who hasn't yet repaired their sense of worthiness, with which both you and I help people do in different modalities, different ways?
00:22:52.319 --> 00:23:00.880
Um, they haven't yet repaired that, but yet they they want some easy way to at least get some relief from this burnout.
00:23:00.960 --> 00:23:01.519
What would you say?
00:23:01.759 --> 00:23:01.920
Yeah.
00:23:02.079 --> 00:23:04.480
So the first thing I want you to do is I want you to bring in white light.
00:23:04.640 --> 00:23:07.519
White light is God, universe, source, whatever you want to call it.
00:23:07.599 --> 00:23:09.920
It's not denominational, it's energy.
00:23:10.079 --> 00:23:10.400
Okay.
00:23:10.720 --> 00:23:13.200
We're born with it, we die with it, it's our energy.
00:23:13.279 --> 00:23:17.119
But what we do throughout the day is we block it with our stress and our worries and our fears.
00:23:17.279 --> 00:23:26.480
So the first thing I want you to do is I want you to bring that white light in from the top of your head and let it go gently and easily through your body, down to your feet, and into the earth.
00:23:26.720 --> 00:23:30.480
And then I want you to notice where you're ejecting that white light.
00:23:30.720 --> 00:23:35.039
Where are you saying, I'm not worthy, I'm not enough, I'm not love.
00:23:35.200 --> 00:23:37.200
I can't have these things that I'm asking for.
00:23:37.359 --> 00:23:37.920
Where is that?
00:23:38.000 --> 00:23:38.960
Is it in your chest?
00:23:39.200 --> 00:23:40.079
Is it in your throat?
00:23:40.240 --> 00:23:41.200
Is it in your stomach?
00:23:41.440 --> 00:23:42.559
Do your hips feel stuck?
00:23:42.640 --> 00:23:44.160
Do your does your neck feel tent?
00:23:44.480 --> 00:23:46.079
What's going on in your body?
00:23:46.240 --> 00:23:49.279
And that's where you need to just pull that energy out and let it go.
00:23:49.759 --> 00:23:51.680
That's the stress that you're carrying.
00:23:51.839 --> 00:23:56.319
Those are those old beliefs and that energy that you're carrying that's keeping you repeating these patterns.
00:23:56.640 --> 00:24:04.400
And so you want to pull that out like smoke or like weeds, and you want to get it all out, you're gonna give that energy to God, universe source, and let it disappear.
00:24:05.200 --> 00:24:07.200
And you're gonna say, I am free.
00:24:07.519 --> 00:24:10.400
And if you're focusing on worthy, I am worthy.
00:24:10.640 --> 00:24:14.880
And feel that go through your whole body and notice where your body rejects it.
00:24:15.039 --> 00:24:22.880
Your body's gonna tell you where you're not okay with it, where you're still holding a piece or a sliver that says, mm-mm-mm, you're not worthy.
00:24:23.119 --> 00:24:24.319
You're not enough.
00:24:24.640 --> 00:24:27.119
That is so cool because I'm doing it right now, as you say.
00:24:28.000 --> 00:24:28.960
Okay, I got it.
00:24:30.079 --> 00:24:32.319
We can just walk through a guided one right now if you want to do one.
00:24:32.559 --> 00:24:32.880
Let's do that.
00:24:33.039 --> 00:24:33.359
Let's do that.
00:24:33.839 --> 00:24:34.480
Oh, that would be beautiful.
00:24:35.200 --> 00:24:36.799
All right, audience, get ready.
00:24:37.119 --> 00:24:39.519
All right, so you can't be driving.
00:24:39.759 --> 00:24:40.000
Okay.
00:24:40.400 --> 00:24:42.160
Don't do this if you're driving, everyone.
00:24:42.480 --> 00:24:44.319
You're gonna be able to sit down and close your eyes.
00:24:44.400 --> 00:24:45.920
So if you can do that, you can continue.
00:24:46.079 --> 00:24:47.039
Otherwise, just listen to us.
00:24:47.200 --> 00:24:51.839
Okay, so sit down, close your eyes, and you're gonna bring that beam of white light in from the top of your head.
00:24:51.920 --> 00:25:02.079
And it's huge, it's like six feet around your body from the top of your head, and it's gonna go gently and easily through your body, down to your feet, and into the earth.
00:25:04.319 --> 00:25:05.759
I am peace.
00:25:06.880 --> 00:25:08.160
I am free.
00:25:09.839 --> 00:25:16.000
And then we're gonna say the three ones that I work on with the success wound, and I want you to notice where you're storing that energy in your body.
00:25:16.400 --> 00:25:17.759
I am worthy.
00:25:18.799 --> 00:25:21.039
Where do you reject that in your body?
00:25:22.079 --> 00:25:22.960
I am enough.
00:25:24.000 --> 00:25:26.319
Where do you reject that in your body?
00:25:27.039 --> 00:25:28.000
I am love.
00:25:28.799 --> 00:25:31.279
Where do you reject that in your body?
00:25:32.000 --> 00:25:37.200
So now that you notice where you're feeling that tension or that tightness, pull it all out.
00:25:37.599 --> 00:25:42.240
The reason that you're recognizing that you can feel it sensitive is because it no longer works for you.
00:25:42.480 --> 00:25:45.039
So pull that energy out like smoke or like weeds.
00:25:45.440 --> 00:25:47.200
You may know where it came from, you may not.
00:25:47.279 --> 00:25:48.079
It doesn't matter.
00:25:48.240 --> 00:25:51.119
You're done with this, you're no longer carrying this baggage.
00:25:51.279 --> 00:25:56.799
You're gonna give it all to God, universe, source, whatever you want to call it, and you're gonna let it disappear.
00:25:57.200 --> 00:26:02.880
It is not to come back into your body, and you're gonna refill every space that you were clearing with.
00:26:03.039 --> 00:26:04.319
I am free.
00:26:06.079 --> 00:26:09.440
And then you're gonna put that I am in that you felt yourself rejecting.
00:26:09.759 --> 00:26:13.759
So I am worthy, I am enough, I am love.
00:26:15.839 --> 00:26:23.279
And then imagine a thought coming from behind that face, and let it fall every fall all the way forward.
00:26:24.640 --> 00:26:26.000
I am worthy.
00:26:27.519 --> 00:26:28.400
I am enough.
00:26:30.240 --> 00:26:31.119
I am love.
00:26:34.000 --> 00:26:37.359
And then imagine a thought we're coming in from the top of your head.
00:27:09.599 --> 00:27:11.599
My life is easy.
00:27:12.960 --> 00:27:14.319
I am supported.
00:27:15.839 --> 00:27:19.440
And when you're ready, go ahead and slowly open your eyes.
00:27:22.640 --> 00:27:24.000
How do you feel?
00:27:24.960 --> 00:27:25.920
Super good.
00:27:27.200 --> 00:27:27.920
Super good.
00:27:28.000 --> 00:27:30.799
I I'll tell you what I noticed because I think it's fascinating.
00:27:31.039 --> 00:27:37.839
Um I have done a lot of work in the world of personal world of worthiness and being enough.
00:27:38.240 --> 00:27:50.960
And so what's interesting is um, first of all, when I said I am love, not past tense or an object, but I am love, that felt very beautiful.
00:27:51.119 --> 00:27:52.559
Like that's a total truth.
00:27:52.720 --> 00:27:53.599
I know that it's a truth.
00:27:53.680 --> 00:27:55.279
I feel it feels as a truth.
00:27:55.440 --> 00:28:04.079
And it's actually coincidentally the thing I write in my gratitude journal in my am I statement every single day for the past five years.
00:28:04.319 --> 00:28:06.880
I am love is how I end it every day.
00:28:07.119 --> 00:28:20.400
Um, the I am worthy, I had a little something in my chest and upper chest, or even maybe down into the spleen, but see more upper chest at that point.
00:28:20.480 --> 00:28:26.079
And then when I said, I am enough, something in the throat, which I thought was kind of interesting.
00:28:26.240 --> 00:28:28.720
So it's like I've done so much work to heal it.
00:28:28.880 --> 00:28:30.319
And I don't know, we're my expectations.
00:28:30.559 --> 00:28:35.599
Like I said, like I said, we're we're never done healing, as you're saying.
00:28:35.839 --> 00:28:36.880
Well, we're always healing, right?
00:28:38.400 --> 00:28:45.200
We're always healing because we're not just healing the stuff from this life, we also have generational stuff that we're healing.
00:28:45.440 --> 00:28:48.079
Like we carry stuff from our parents, our grandparents.
00:28:48.160 --> 00:28:53.519
I have clients that are adopted, met their parents, same issues.
00:28:53.680 --> 00:28:56.240
Like we are genetically programmed as well.
00:28:56.400 --> 00:29:04.480
So there's all this stuff that we're just we pick up and carry, and we don't know that it's ours until we realize I don't believe that.
00:29:04.640 --> 00:29:05.839
That's not my thing.
00:29:06.240 --> 00:29:07.599
I don't want to carry it anymore.
00:29:07.759 --> 00:29:08.079
Yeah.
00:29:08.319 --> 00:29:12.480
So it's healing is very simple, but it's very complex.
00:29:12.640 --> 00:29:14.720
It's it's just layers of an onion.
00:29:14.960 --> 00:29:16.240
You don't know what you're gonna get.
00:29:16.480 --> 00:29:16.880
You don't.
00:29:16.960 --> 00:29:18.480
It is like coming up today.
00:29:18.640 --> 00:29:18.880
Right.
00:29:18.960 --> 00:29:19.839
What's coming up today?
00:29:19.920 --> 00:29:21.279
And that's the question to ask.
00:29:21.359 --> 00:29:28.400
It's really about being deliberate about your healing because you can say, I'll do it later, but it's not that pain is not going away.
00:29:28.559 --> 00:29:32.559
And as it manifests in your body, it is getting worse day by day.
00:29:32.880 --> 00:29:35.680
So ignoring it is making it worse.
00:29:35.759 --> 00:29:39.440
It is doing something, it's not actually ignoring, it's actually making it worse.
00:29:39.680 --> 00:29:45.279
So we need to be deliberate and be present and be and so that we can have that awareness.
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:47.680
What am I feeling right now?
00:29:47.839 --> 00:29:50.480
What emotion am I feeling right now?
00:29:50.880 --> 00:29:53.440
Where in my body am I feeling this emotion?
00:29:53.599 --> 00:29:57.599
Just that little bit of awareness is enough to start a release, which is way cool.
00:29:57.759 --> 00:29:58.559
You'd be like, what?
00:29:58.799 --> 00:30:01.440
Just because I became aware it's releasing, it is.
00:30:02.000 --> 00:30:07.920
And then doing something like what you just guided us through helps it release even more, especially for visual people.
00:30:08.240 --> 00:30:11.119
Like, oh, I can visualize that coming out as smoke.
00:30:11.200 --> 00:30:17.359
And I can recognize there's a little more in there, but the fact that I can recognize, like, all right, well, I'll let a little more out.
00:30:17.440 --> 00:30:19.839
And I love the idea of replacing it with something else.
00:30:19.920 --> 00:30:24.079
So it's not a cavity that can, you know, so that can fill up again with the bad stuff.
00:30:24.240 --> 00:30:28.720
Now I've replaced it with something beautiful and something more healing and more whole.
00:30:28.799 --> 00:30:35.599
And the more healing and the more whole we are, the better every relationship we'll ever have will be.
00:30:36.000 --> 00:30:45.519
Anyone who has a relationship that the two people are not whole, they're they're trying to, they're they're expecting the other one to fill their holes.
00:30:45.599 --> 00:30:51.839
They're trying to it's a it's like this give and take that's icky and graspy and doesn't need to happen.
00:30:52.079 --> 00:31:02.480
Imagine when two people come together in a relationship, a friendship, um, a you know, a sibling relationship, a parental child relationship, a romantic relationship.
00:31:02.559 --> 00:31:03.759
It doesn't matter what it is.
00:31:03.920 --> 00:31:15.200
When you both come in it from a place of wholeness, like I'm I'm giving myself what I need so I don't have any more holes or just a few, you know, because I'm being aware.
00:31:15.359 --> 00:31:17.599
I'm aware, I'm giving myself what I need.
00:31:17.680 --> 00:31:24.160
I'm listening to my intuition, I'm listening to my body, which is the noisy part of my intuition, is when it finally manifests.
00:31:24.240 --> 00:31:25.200
Now I'm listening.
00:31:25.440 --> 00:31:27.200
Now I'm giving myself what I need.
00:31:27.279 --> 00:31:32.000
I'm no longer feeling victim-y, I'm no longer feeling needy, I'm no longer feeling graspy.
00:31:32.079 --> 00:31:37.279
And therefore, the person you're interacting with as my friend, partner, sibling, whatever.
00:31:37.440 --> 00:31:40.720
Now you're interacting with a much more calm, peaceful person.
00:31:40.799 --> 00:31:43.920
And our relationship gets better even if you don't do anything.
00:31:44.160 --> 00:31:52.640
It's better because I'm feeling more whole and giving myself what I need, which is not being burnt out.
00:31:52.880 --> 00:32:01.759
Now, as a medium, you've talked with um, you know, souls that have passed through their bodies this time around.
00:32:02.000 --> 00:32:07.279
Um, does anybody ever say, wow, I'm so glad I worked my fingers to the bone?
00:32:07.599 --> 00:32:10.960
No, I mean, the first thing that they always say is, wow, I'm so free.
00:32:11.200 --> 00:32:14.319
We put so many constraints on ourselves in this life.
00:32:14.559 --> 00:32:18.960
And one of the regrets people always have on their deathbed is I worked too much.
00:32:19.039 --> 00:32:21.279
I put too much of a priority on work.
00:32:21.680 --> 00:32:28.240
I wanted to travel more, I wanted to do this activity more, I wanted to be with family more, I wanted to be more present.
00:32:28.480 --> 00:32:30.960
And you guys all have that ability to do that now.
00:32:31.200 --> 00:32:36.079
I was telling her before we began that I went to nursing school to be a hospice nurse.
00:32:36.160 --> 00:32:38.960
I thought I wanted to help people, you know, cross over.
00:32:39.200 --> 00:32:46.799
But what I'm here to do is help people create a life that they love in all areas before they get to their deathbed.
00:32:47.119 --> 00:32:49.039
We are not here to have regrets.
00:32:49.200 --> 00:32:52.799
Like live your life fully, be happy, do things that bring you joy.
00:32:52.880 --> 00:32:58.799
And if you don't know it brings you joy, that's a warning sign that you're also on your path to burnout.
00:32:59.119 --> 00:33:00.319
Absolutely, absolutely.
00:33:00.480 --> 00:33:19.519
So it's really about repairing your sense of worthiness, getting to know who you are, aligning what you're doing it and how you're doing it with who you are, deliberately bumping up your awareness so you recognize whenever you're straying from that alignment that you worked so hard to get to, right?
00:33:19.759 --> 00:33:37.359
And to get rid of all those obstacles, those nasty beliefs that we have consciously, and the energy that you help people to release that we hold that we're maybe not conscious of holding, that we're holding in our body, to release all those obstacles that are wanting to get you out of alignment.
00:33:37.519 --> 00:33:54.240
So it's really about, you know, know who you are, repair your sense of worthiness, get into alignment, and then keep focusing on that alignment and releasing what's trying to pull you out with the help of experts, because that's what you and I are here for, right?
00:33:54.319 --> 00:33:55.279
This is what we do.
00:33:55.440 --> 00:33:59.440
And it's hard to do the inner work on your own because you can't see what needs to be fixed.
00:33:59.599 --> 00:34:01.759
We just we're blind to our own issues.
00:34:01.920 --> 00:34:06.000
You can point out every everybody else's issues without a problem.
00:34:06.400 --> 00:34:12.079
But when it comes to our own stuff, we don't see that magnifying glass showing in the exact same way.
00:34:12.400 --> 00:34:13.199
No, we don't.
00:34:13.360 --> 00:34:14.400
You're absolutely right.
00:34:14.639 --> 00:34:17.840
So that's a really important, a really important point.
00:34:18.159 --> 00:34:24.000
So um I I love that you brought us to this white light um to recharge.
00:34:24.320 --> 00:34:33.039
And just I think the most important thing we're leading people with is that burnout is is in it's avoidable, right?
00:34:33.119 --> 00:34:46.880
It's totally avoidable, but it takes awareness and it takes some type of action, which may very well be doing nothing, or you know, scheduling into your calendar.
00:34:47.039 --> 00:34:50.880
But it also takes letting go of trying to prove yourself.
00:34:51.039 --> 00:35:06.639
If you look at your to-do list and then you circle everything that you're trying, the everything on that list that in some way is there to prove your significance or to prove your importance, or to prove that you're lovable, or to prove that you're good enough, right?
00:35:06.960 --> 00:35:13.119
Circle all those things and see what percentage of those to-dos falling into that category.
00:35:13.280 --> 00:35:15.039
That's a giant point of awareness.
00:35:15.199 --> 00:35:31.760
I had a client who that was the homework that I gave her, and she came back the next week and she said 75% of what I say yes to is trying to prove my significance, that I matter, that I'm a that I'm a good mom, or that I'm needed, or that I'm a great writer, or that I'm, you know, 75%.
00:35:32.400 --> 00:35:36.239
Because she came to me because of overwhelm and burnout, you know.
00:35:36.559 --> 00:35:39.280
And she's like, I'm already giving it up.
00:35:39.440 --> 00:35:42.960
Just that awareness was enough for her logically to say, I'm not doing all that.
00:35:43.119 --> 00:35:43.920
Are you kidding?
00:35:44.079 --> 00:35:44.639
You know?
00:35:44.960 --> 00:35:50.880
So then she had enough space by doing that to be able to repair her sense of worthiness.
00:35:51.039 --> 00:35:57.599
So a lot of people are like, I'd love to do this work on myself and deep dive, but I don't have any time because I'm doing all this other stuff for other people.
00:35:57.760 --> 00:36:17.519
So if you recognize that and you get that awareness of where you're trying to prove yourself, just that awareness might be enough to help you let go of it just enough so that you can be deliberate in beautiful exercises like your white light exercise to release the things that that they feel nasty because they're baloney, right?
00:36:17.679 --> 00:36:19.519
Truth feels like freedom.
00:36:20.159 --> 00:36:23.840
If there's something in your body that feels like ick, that's because it's not truth.
00:36:24.000 --> 00:36:26.000
I mean, how obvious can that be?
00:36:26.159 --> 00:36:27.039
It's not truth.
00:36:27.199 --> 00:36:29.199
So why would you want to keep holding it there?
00:36:29.360 --> 00:36:30.880
So let's release it.
00:36:31.440 --> 00:36:34.719
Wow, this has been such a beautiful conversation, Lisa.
00:36:34.800 --> 00:36:38.639
I'm so glad that you came to be my guest on the show today.
00:36:38.880 --> 00:36:40.880
Um, so thank you so much.
00:36:41.039 --> 00:36:48.559
And um, if someone wants to learn a little bit more about the work you do, or if they were like, oh yeah, I'm ready for some energetic get that crap out of me.
00:36:48.719 --> 00:36:50.239
I don't want that anymore.
00:36:50.480 --> 00:36:51.280
Where can they go?
00:36:51.440 --> 00:36:52.079
What can they do?
00:36:52.159 --> 00:36:53.599
How can they contact you?
00:36:53.920 --> 00:36:56.320
So, one of the best places to find me is on YouTube.
00:36:56.480 --> 00:37:03.519
I release a new video every week, or actually every other week now, and I have hundreds of videos on there from meditations to practical tools.
00:37:03.679 --> 00:37:04.559
It's all there.
00:37:04.800 --> 00:37:11.679
I also have three books in my Enlighten Love series that you can find on Amazon, Bardzo Nobles, or you can get a signed copy on my website.
00:37:11.760 --> 00:37:15.280
It's basically anywhere that sells books, you can get a copy, ebook or print.
00:37:15.599 --> 00:37:16.880
Oh, that's fantastic.
00:37:17.039 --> 00:37:17.280
Okay.
00:37:17.440 --> 00:37:25.760
And what is your website just for our listeners, even though I will put it in the show notes, but if they're just listening because they're on a walk and they're not like on the show notes, what is your website?
00:37:26.000 --> 00:37:28.079
It's LisaGornell.com.
00:37:28.480 --> 00:37:29.119
Awesome.
00:37:29.280 --> 00:37:30.559
Okay, that is beautiful.
00:37:30.719 --> 00:37:32.639
Well, thank you again for being a guest.
00:37:32.719 --> 00:37:35.199
It's been my pleasure to speak with you today.
00:37:35.440 --> 00:37:43.920
And once again, I'm Linda Booker, um, speaker and master certified life coach, and I am on a mission to inspire and impact millions.
00:37:44.079 --> 00:37:46.000
I did say millions, millions of people.
00:37:46.079 --> 00:37:53.760
I don't know how, but somehow millions of people to know their worth and share their gifts, deliberately creating big, beautiful ripples in the world.
00:37:53.840 --> 00:37:56.400
And this podcast is one of the ways I do it.
00:37:56.559 --> 00:38:00.320
And I'm so grateful for every listener that tunes into our show.
00:38:00.400 --> 00:38:03.119
So, you lifelong listeners, that is our show.
00:38:03.280 --> 00:38:07.599
Please come back next week for another episode of Conversations Worth Your While.
