How Water Access Shapes Human Possibility Season 2 - Episode 4
Joana Bacallo - Water Storyteller Imani Black - Oyster Farmer & Marine Biologist Christopher Friedrich - Humanitarian Aid Worker & Researcher
Access to water is a fundamental human right. Yet it remains far from guaranteed. Across the world, water is unevenly distributed, in law and in practice. Demand continues to rise, while in many places water quality and quantity decline. Power shapes outcomes. Decisions about water often reinforce inequality, and in some contexts remain deeply discriminatory.
Women and minority communities are often missing from formal decision making, yet they often carry the daily burden of water collection and face restricted access to rights, knowledge, and safe supply.
In this episode of Conversations That Shape Tomorrow, we broaden the lens on water access worldwide: how water shapes health and well being, what sanitation looks like across different contexts, and which practical, implementable approaches can help close the gap between a declared right and lived reality.
