Halloween, SC: A Scream Come True EP#22
Every October, Conway does something most towns only dream about.
It transforms.
Not just with a few pumpkins on a sidewalk or a couple of decorations in a storefront window — but block by block, tree by tree, light by light, into Halloween, South Carolina.
In this episode of Coasting, recorded in downtown Conway at The Terrace, Celia takes listeners behind the scenes. We cover the practical, the “behind-the-scenes,” and simple JOY of walking streets lovingly decorated by city employees and volunteers alike.
After Aunt B’s FAMOUS Yummy to the Tummy segment, Celia talks with two guests connected to the City of Conway’s Halloween transformation, including Drew Sorbello, a Coastal Carolina graduate and city intern and Adam Emrick, Conway’s top City Administrator.
The episode also gives visitors timely information before they head into town: parking, road closures, shuttle options, and how to enjoy Halloween, SC safely and respectfully.
But this episode is also about the bigger story.
From decorated windows and themed storefronts to residents and business owners who fully embrace the spirit of the month, Halloween, SC works because the community does more than watch it happen — they participate in it.
And because this is Coasting, there will also be a little fun — favorite displays, surprising stats, the mystery of just how many skeletons and lights are involved, whether pumpkins belong in every tree, and what holiday Conway might decide to conquer next.
Halloween, SC is not just a name.
It is a full-town effort.
And for Conway, it really has become a scream come true.
