00:00:02.799 --> 00:00:04.240
Welcome aboard to business class.
00:00:09.199 --> 00:00:10.240
And everything in between.
00:00:10.480 --> 00:00:15.519
Just a disclaimer that this is on my eminent place and what if one works for me as a finishing business owner.
00:00:15.679 --> 00:00:18.239
So please take everything in the same way with a pinch of salt.
00:00:18.399 --> 00:00:22.399
So take your seats, strop in, and welcome aboard to business classes.
00:00:25.600 --> 00:00:28.879
Hello, welcome and welcome back to Business Class of Ron.
00:00:29.039 --> 00:00:31.839
I've got an amazing guest episode lined up for you today.
00:00:32.000 --> 00:00:36.799
We are so lucky to have the incredible Zoe Jane Hindle on the podcast today.
00:00:36.960 --> 00:00:40.159
I feel like I've known of Zoe for such a long time now.
00:00:40.320 --> 00:00:45.439
I've listened to so many podcasts that she's been on, and I was like, I need to get her on these seats.
00:00:45.600 --> 00:01:00.719
She basically speaks about women's health, burnout, living our best lives, how we can manage stress levels, cortisol, so many things that I have been taking notes from and I've been speaking to her about personally.
00:01:00.960 --> 00:01:03.920
I was like, I just need to get her onto the podcast and book in a session.
00:01:04.079 --> 00:01:14.640
So my exact notes on Zoe is that she's a functional wellness coach, practitioner, speaker, and hormone educator, specializing in women's health, hormones, fertility, gut health, and burnout.
00:01:14.799 --> 00:01:19.519
Before entering the wellness world, Zoe basically built a hugely successful corporate career.
00:01:19.680 --> 00:01:25.599
So today we're talking all things hormones, fertility, burnout, and also just actionable things as well.
00:01:25.760 --> 00:01:45.680
Like I really made sure to get the most out of this session with Zoe in that I know there's so many of you listening that are just like me, where you genuinely really, really struggled to do things like exercise every day, eat healthily, like maintain friendships outside of work, like all these things that we have to do that are just impossible to do.
00:01:46.480 --> 00:01:54.560
And if you are like me, I feel like you would have tried everything, you would have um invested in a lot of different things and they just don't work.
00:01:54.640 --> 00:02:02.400
And I'm kind of just that a loose end as to how you are supposed to maintain like a healthy, balanced lifestyle while still running a business.
00:02:02.480 --> 00:02:09.680
So I just wanted to get realistic advice out of Zoe and not, you know, leave you feeling overwhelmed having to buy a hundred things.
00:02:09.840 --> 00:02:11.759
So it's a really nice, actionable one.
00:02:11.840 --> 00:02:14.000
I learned so much in today's episode.
00:02:14.080 --> 00:02:17.680
So I am very confident that you will get the same out of this as well.
00:02:17.919 --> 00:02:23.840
If you're interested in listening, stay tuned and let's jump into the conversation I had earlier today with Zoe.
00:02:25.840 --> 00:02:28.080
Zoe, welcome to business class.
00:02:28.240 --> 00:02:28.639
Thank you.
00:02:28.960 --> 00:02:29.919
How are you today?
00:02:30.240 --> 00:02:30.960
I'm really good.
00:02:31.039 --> 00:02:32.000
The sun's shining.
00:02:32.159 --> 00:02:33.919
I had a seamless journey here.
00:02:34.159 --> 00:02:34.639
Amazing.
00:02:34.800 --> 00:02:35.199
So yeah.
00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:37.759
Because Zoe's been up since half four this morning.
00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:39.199
Half four this morning, yes.
00:02:39.280 --> 00:02:41.919
I woke up and I was like, it's still dark outside.
00:02:42.159 --> 00:02:44.319
I haven't woke up when it's been dark outside for a while.
00:02:44.639 --> 00:02:50.560
And I always do you still wake up in fight or flight, or are you a bit better now at calming the nervous system?
00:02:50.879 --> 00:02:53.280
I have really been working on my nervous system lately.
00:02:53.520 --> 00:02:55.199
It's been like number one priority.
00:02:55.360 --> 00:02:55.520
Yeah.
00:02:55.599 --> 00:02:59.199
So I woke up this morning and it was that initial, is it the middle of the night?
00:02:59.439 --> 00:03:02.719
Because it's been so light in the mornings, it was just a bit of a shock.
00:03:02.879 --> 00:03:06.080
But I haven't been waking up in fight or flight for a while.
00:03:06.400 --> 00:03:08.719
And that's a big change for me.
00:03:08.960 --> 00:03:20.240
That's what I'm really excited to speak about today because we have so many listeners like me who are very stressed, we don't eat properly, we don't exercise properly, burn out constantly.
00:03:20.319 --> 00:03:22.800
And I feel like you're the best person to speak to about this thing.
00:03:22.879 --> 00:03:24.319
You know it better than anyone else.
00:03:24.719 --> 00:03:30.639
So we'll start off going into a bit about your journey, your career so far.
00:03:30.800 --> 00:03:44.560
Because I know that you did suffer really badly from burnout, and like how how do you go from being at such a low to now having a career where you help people, you know, try and avoid that and be more educated about their health and lifestyle?
00:03:44.879 --> 00:03:48.879
So it all kind of came around because of my health issues in my 20s.
00:03:48.960 --> 00:03:52.639
So I had PMDD, so premenstrual dysphoria disorder.
00:03:52.719 --> 00:03:55.840
So they called it a really severe form of PMS.
00:03:55.919 --> 00:03:58.960
I don't like to use that term, but it took over my life.
00:03:59.199 --> 00:04:05.919
And because it can make you feel so hopeless, so depressed, and so not yourself, I ended up masking a lot of the time.
00:04:06.080 --> 00:04:07.680
And masking is exhausting.
00:04:08.319 --> 00:04:14.879
I also am late diagnosed, ADHD, and so all of these things combined, I also got an autoimmune disorder.
00:04:14.960 --> 00:04:25.120
I literally have had and do have all of the things, but that just meant I was always operating from a place of low capacity and feeling depleted.
00:04:25.279 --> 00:04:48.560
But because I was super ambitious in my career at the time, I kept going and going, and then I started to learn about how to support the body and started to basically try and heal myself and support myself, and with that I learned so much, and that's when I decided to pivot, start my own business, and help other women because I thought, wow, there's so much out there that can actually help women, but we don't know it.
00:04:48.879 --> 00:04:50.879
You just don't know about it till it happens, I think.
00:04:51.120 --> 00:05:01.199
Like when I reach burnout, you you sort of think that it's more you're exhausted, and you hear about everyone saying, Oh, you just run down, and you sort of pin it down to that.
00:05:01.279 --> 00:05:06.639
And I'd been to the doctors, and they just they stick you on medication or steroids or something like that.
00:05:06.879 --> 00:05:19.759
And then it wasn't until I looked into things like Chinese medicine medication and um acupuncture, yeah, and you start to think there's actually like deeper rooted causes here, and also like every everybody is different.
00:05:19.920 --> 00:05:26.560
So, like when we spoke, we're speaking about like getting your blood stun and everyone's blood is different and what you need and things like that.
00:05:26.720 --> 00:05:32.399
Yeah, um, so in terms of how you healed yourself, where does that journey even start?
00:05:32.560 --> 00:05:34.560
Like, how did you know I needed to go a bit deeper?
00:05:34.639 --> 00:05:36.639
Did you have to do a lot of research to get to that point?
00:05:36.879 --> 00:05:47.759
Yeah, so I did a lot of research, and what I will caveat is that I am still dealing with curved balls now because obviously being self-employed, having your own business, you there's a different type of stress.
00:05:48.079 --> 00:05:51.920
There's always going to be something, but I'm so much more resilient now.
00:05:52.160 --> 00:05:56.560
And to answer your question, the research I did, I found functional testing.
00:05:56.639 --> 00:06:06.959
So these are tests that functional medicine doctors will use, nutritional therapists like myself, wellness practitioners, and I found this whole other realm of support.
00:06:07.439 --> 00:06:09.920
I started to understand my genetics.
00:06:10.160 --> 00:06:20.720
So, to your point of we're so bio-individual, what we see on social media is all this generic noise of we should all be doing this, or we've all got high cortisol, I know we're going to talk about that.
00:06:20.959 --> 00:06:31.759
And I just started to zone in on what my body needed, and I realized that for most of my life, my nervous system had been so dysregulated for multiple different reasons growing up.
00:06:32.000 --> 00:06:37.199
I was actually doing all the things that my body shouldn't be doing versus should be doing.
00:06:37.439 --> 00:06:52.319
So when you have that compound effect year on year, on top of just your normal life stress growing up, work, personal life in your 20s and 30s, my body was in such a bad spot because I didn't know actually how to support my body.
00:06:52.639 --> 00:06:55.920
And I think one of the biggest things was understanding my genes.
00:06:56.000 --> 00:07:00.399
So I knew what nutrients I needed more of, what things I needed less of.
00:07:00.720 --> 00:07:04.959
And then I was able to start working with my body instead of against it.
00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:24.240
And I think so many women are unintentionally working against their bodies whilst trying to move forward in business, trying to move forward in their personal life, and you end up having this tug of war, which is where lots of these chronic conditions can come up: hormone imbalances, missing periods, gut issues, struggling to get pregnant.
00:07:24.399 --> 00:07:27.839
Yeah, that's that's the spot that I think a lot of women are in now.
00:07:28.079 --> 00:07:31.279
And do you think it's ever too late to heal from burnout?
00:07:31.360 --> 00:07:40.560
Like if someone's listening and they're in their 30s or 40s or 50s or wherever they're at in life and they feel just constantly burned out, and maybe they have for the past 10 years or so.
00:07:40.800 --> 00:07:46.160
Do you think it's ever too late and it's kind of sometimes stress can't be reversed?
00:07:46.319 --> 00:07:47.759
Like, how what do you think about that?
00:07:48.160 --> 00:07:50.560
It all comes back to how resilient your body is.
00:07:50.720 --> 00:08:00.079
So, in terms of what burnout actually is, it's that physical and mental exhaustion where you can feel really numb, no emotions, no resiliency.
00:08:00.240 --> 00:08:05.759
The smallest thing you just really struggle to deal with, like mentally and physically and emotionally.
00:08:06.160 --> 00:08:13.600
But also your adrenal glands, so they're two glands, they sit on top of your kidneys, they pump out your adrenaline and your cortisol.
00:08:14.079 --> 00:08:17.839
Now they are they've got such an important job, they're always talking to your brain.
00:08:17.920 --> 00:08:19.439
There's a constant feedback loop.
00:08:19.600 --> 00:08:23.120
It's like having a boss and a team, always in communication with each other.
00:08:23.519 --> 00:08:38.480
But if you've always got this communication loop going over and over and over, at some point the adrenals just they they get tired, especially if we're not eating the right foods, we're not getting enough sleep, we haven't got the right minerals, and the list is endless.
00:08:38.720 --> 00:08:46.480
Over time, the adrenals can't keep pumping out this adrenaline and cortisol to all of the stresses that we're exposed to every day.
00:08:47.039 --> 00:09:08.720
And so over time, yes, the adrenals can become so under-supported, and it comes back to that compound effect of if you have year on year on year of pushing, pushing, pushing, then as women we'll go through different transitions of life, we'll have pregnancy, we'll have perimenopause, we'll have menopause, our bodies totally recalibrate during those times as well.
00:09:09.279 --> 00:09:13.759
And so the longer you leave things, yes, the harder it can be.
00:09:14.159 --> 00:09:28.000
But some of us are more genetically blessed, shall we say, where it may be easier, say if you're 55 and yes, if you put in the groundwork from a nervous system perspective and nutrition, everything, yes, you can start to feel so much better.
00:09:28.639 --> 00:09:35.759
Um, it all depends on the level of kind of motivation you have to do that and also the capac mental capacity to do it.
00:09:36.000 --> 00:09:38.559
And is there such a thing as good and bad stress?
00:09:38.639 --> 00:09:39.759
I've always wanted to know this.
00:09:39.840 --> 00:09:52.559
So, like when I receive, you know, like a client email that makes me feel stressed and I feel that sick dip in my stomach, yeah, versus I don't know, it could be like you're at the gym and your heart's pumping really, really fast.
00:09:52.639 --> 00:09:56.080
So, how does your body know the difference between good and bad stress?
00:09:56.399 --> 00:09:59.039
So it all lies in your nervous system as well.
00:09:59.120 --> 00:10:03.840
So when you get that pit in your stomach, when you're in the gym, you don't have that same pit in your stomach, right?
00:10:04.159 --> 00:10:07.279
So that's coming from a place of nervous system dysregulation.
00:10:07.600 --> 00:10:19.679
And so you may have someone else that gets that same email from a client, but they don't have that initial, oh my god, I feel sick, because you're operating from this place of nervous system is always in fight or flight.
00:10:20.159 --> 00:10:31.039
So you do have good and and bad stress, exercise, you get in dolphins, it increases BDNF, which is called brain-derived neurotrophic factor in the brain, which makes you feel really good.
00:10:31.279 --> 00:10:50.000
So there are different types of stress, but if you have a stress but you're like, oh my god, I feel sick, something's wrong, like you feel this impending feeling of doom, that's when you know that the nervous system is it's been on high alert, it's been sitting and waiting for that email to land in your inbox, and then it's like told you this is gonna happen.
00:10:50.159 --> 00:10:52.559
Yeah, like you instantly go to the worst all the time.
00:10:52.960 --> 00:11:01.279
The worst, and something I do that I would love to know if it's linked to having um high cortisol or being stressed is I'm a very jumpy person.
00:11:01.440 --> 00:11:10.000
So like I'll I can just be calm in bed, especially at the minute because it's so hot, the windows are open, the door will slam, and it literally sets me off for like five minutes.
00:11:10.159 --> 00:11:12.159
Like, is that like a high stress thing?
00:11:12.399 --> 00:11:14.159
That is your nervous system basically.
00:11:14.480 --> 00:11:19.279
Um and I say that because up until very recently, I was exactly the same.
00:11:19.600 --> 00:11:28.559
But when before the um call started, I was explaining how I've really been working on my nervous system, doing a lot of what some people might call woo-woo things.
00:11:28.799 --> 00:11:38.080
But I noticed the other day when something I was going for a walk in the park and a dog jumped out, and normally I would jump out of my own skin, yeah, and I was totally fine.
00:11:38.799 --> 00:11:44.320
And I was like, ah, these are the small shifts that you start to see when you start working on your nervous system.
00:11:44.559 --> 00:11:50.559
So, yeah, if you are really jumpy and it lasts, that is that initial feeling of adrenaline.
00:11:50.639 --> 00:11:53.120
Yeah, cortisol follows after.
00:11:53.519 --> 00:12:01.279
So if you've always got this adrenaline, adrenaline running in your body, then you you've still got it when the next stressor comes around.
00:12:01.440 --> 00:12:01.759
Yeah.
00:12:01.919 --> 00:12:08.879
So if you get an email from a client like five minutes later, you're still on that adrenaline high from that loud noise that disturbed you.
00:12:09.120 --> 00:12:12.399
So then before you know it, you're just on the coattails of adrenaline all day.
00:12:12.639 --> 00:12:20.080
Yeah, because I've spoken a few times about, and loads of people have messaged and said they resonate with it, is my brain is very logical.
00:12:20.159 --> 00:12:26.159
So, like when I do get a client email or I'm going on a call that I'm nervous for, it's maybe confrontational.
00:12:26.480 --> 00:12:31.679
My brain knows logically like it's fine, and this is about the work, it's not personal to me.
00:12:31.759 --> 00:12:37.279
And um, or it might be, you know, if that client's leaving, I've got someone on the wait list that can replace them and things like that.
00:12:37.519 --> 00:12:41.360
But my body reacts so differently to how my brain reacts.
00:12:41.519 --> 00:12:47.840
So, like I start, like my heart just pounds out my chest, and the two are so disconnected.
00:12:48.080 --> 00:12:55.600
And is that just because you you can work on your mindset, but then your mindset's different than working on your nervous system, like they're two different things.
00:12:55.759 --> 00:13:06.000
Yeah, they're two different things, but also you you've got your subconscious and your conscious mind, and so there'll be a lot of fear and worries and stress that's buried deep in the subconscious.
00:13:06.159 --> 00:13:19.840
And I'm by no means a um like mindset expert in that way, but just from the own work that I've done personally, when you when there's so much buried in there, it's like having you know the cupboard you have at home where you just shove everything, yeah.
00:13:20.000 --> 00:13:23.360
I call it the fuck it cupboard, which is like if I'm allowed to swear, yeah.
00:13:23.600 --> 00:13:27.919
Um and then when you open the door one day and everything falls out, yeah, and that's what we do.
00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:30.240
And I find that women do that a lot.
00:13:30.480 --> 00:13:48.879
We suppress, we bury things away, and we're like, nope, be stronger, be more resilient, but then there's an overspill at some point that you can't deny, and so even though your brain is in the right place, you know logically, there is this level of fear or apprehension, and that nervous system disconnect, yeah.
00:13:49.120 --> 00:13:59.120
So that's where you know, all this nervous system work, there's so many different modalities, then brings up this connection between the mind and your body, basically.
00:13:59.440 --> 00:14:11.440
And what would you say, because you're in a business, and I feel like you'll be the same as any person who's you know good at practicing what they preach, but I'll have times where I'll preach about posting on social media and then I won't.
00:14:11.600 --> 00:14:17.200
So, like, do you have times where you still feel stressed about things or panicky about things?
00:14:17.360 --> 00:14:19.600
And and how do you combat that?
00:14:19.679 --> 00:14:26.000
And how do you use like the knowledge you've got now to sort of lower your cortisol levels if that does come up?
00:14:26.240 --> 00:14:52.559
I 100% will still get stressed, but I would say that when I used to experience stress, even up until like six months ago, a year ago, I would have that pit in my stomach, I feel sick, like the world is gonna end, and it would be so internalized, which I know now is a big thing with ADHD and neurodivergence, and it would just it I just feel like I was drowning internally and I'd just be sinking, sinking, sinking.
00:14:52.720 --> 00:15:00.879
But now, because of the work that I've really done, I understand my body, I don't have that same reaction, so it's not as prolonged.
00:15:01.039 --> 00:15:04.559
Yeah, I can instantly do the things that help support my body.
00:15:04.639 --> 00:15:07.120
So I'm a big fan of um EFT tapping.
00:15:07.279 --> 00:15:08.559
Yeah, I love tapping.
00:15:08.639 --> 00:15:16.960
So like I will go for a walk and I'll tap on my chest or on my forehead, are the two points that kind of resonate with me more, and I'll have these things that I'll say over and over.
00:15:17.200 --> 00:15:36.639
So if I'm having a day of like self-doubt, of like, oh, I'm the worst practitioner in the world, I will bring up the facts of like client reviews and I'll like and the client results, and I'll be like, I had six pregnancies this year, like and I just go and remind myself, and like that has really helped me, and also meditation.
00:15:36.799 --> 00:15:42.080
Yeah, I was not able to meditate until I got my nervous system to a better place.
00:15:42.559 --> 00:15:51.919
I feel like if you tell someone to meditate and they are completely overwhelmed with no capacity, it is impossible for them to do it and to really feel that connection.
00:15:52.159 --> 00:15:55.440
So I feel like you have to meet someone like where they're at in that way.
00:15:55.600 --> 00:15:57.279
I've only recently been able to meditate.
00:15:57.679 --> 00:16:03.039
What even because I know what EFT tapping is because I've done it, but what's the science behind why it works?
00:16:03.279 --> 00:16:12.000
So the way I understand it is that you are programming your nervous system, your subconscious mind with things that you're saying out loud.
00:16:12.159 --> 00:16:16.080
So the more you say something, the more your body physically starts to believe it.
00:16:16.399 --> 00:16:28.159
And there's an amazing book, and there's I mean there's several different books, but there's one by Nicole Sachs, it's called Mind Your Body, and it's all about how you hold and store things in the body, like negative things we experience in life.
00:16:28.399 --> 00:16:31.679
But then we also need to think about the body can also store positive things.
00:16:31.759 --> 00:16:37.679
Yeah, so the more you tell yourself positive things, the more you're literally tapping into it, saying it over and over.
00:16:38.000 --> 00:16:42.320
You're reprogramming because if you say it enough times, your brain will believe it.
00:16:42.799 --> 00:16:50.799
We're trained very much to have more negative bias, but the more we can push the positive bias, it just evens up the cue a little bit.
00:16:50.879 --> 00:16:56.000
So when something happens that comes into your inbox, it's not that oh my god, sinking.
00:16:56.159 --> 00:17:00.799
It's like, oh okay, this is a bit shit, but it's gonna be fine, yeah.
00:17:00.879 --> 00:17:03.279
And like ease in that sick feeling, yeah.
00:17:03.519 --> 00:17:10.319
And I feel like as well, ambitious people that own businesses, because we're so we have such high expectations of ourselves.
00:17:10.559 --> 00:17:20.319
Would you say that's also why we all are more prone to being burnt out because we're we're like so driven all the time that you kind of just yeah, you kind of just eventually just burn out from it.
00:17:20.559 --> 00:17:40.640
Because I feel like in this hustle culture that we're in, and I I'm so on the fence of it because on one side I love it, like I love the opportunities, meeting people and doing these things, like clients getting results, but on the other side, I feel like we're all putting ourselves in this giant pressure cooker, and there's only so much pressure our bodies were meant to handle.
00:17:40.799 --> 00:18:01.519
Yeah, and then when you repair that with just this like fast-paced lifestyle, you're in a pressure cooker that is mounting daily, and so this big it's just contradicts itself all the time with hustle culture and then the pressure cooker we're in, and then before you know it, we're feeling burnt out because we literally can't do all of the things all of the time.
00:18:02.000 --> 00:18:10.400
And I've worked with a lot of CEOs and founders, and I'm never gonna be the practitioner to say just have time off and go and meditate, because I know they're not gonna do that.
00:18:10.559 --> 00:18:18.240
Yeah, so it's being able to give them like just ease the pressure a little bit and just ease the hustle a little bit, even for a short period of time and then go again.
00:18:18.559 --> 00:18:22.799
Yeah, and it's like that constant expanding to contract.
00:18:23.200 --> 00:18:37.920
It's a saying that my my um my spinal energetics practitioner said to me the other day, and it's been in my mind, you know, in these light bulb moments when someone says something to you, yeah, you cannot expand and grow without coming back together and contracting to then go again.
00:18:38.319 --> 00:18:39.839
And that is the same for our health.
00:18:40.000 --> 00:18:42.960
If you think about how our heart beats, it's constantly contracting.
00:18:43.200 --> 00:18:44.799
We cannot always be expanding.
00:18:45.039 --> 00:18:46.160
Yeah, it's so true.
00:18:46.319 --> 00:18:48.079
And we just ignore things like that.
00:18:48.240 --> 00:18:58.400
I think what we all tend to do because we do have so many responsibilities and things to get done, we kind of just tell ourselves we don't have time, you know, we don't have time for this, we don't have time for that.
00:18:58.480 --> 00:18:59.519
I say it all the time.
00:18:59.680 --> 00:19:10.880
What would you say are some signs of early burnout coming on in business owners or founders or highly stressed people that you shouldn't really ignore and you should listen to a bit more?
00:19:11.200 --> 00:19:12.880
Really relying on caffeine.
00:19:13.039 --> 00:19:13.200
Yeah.
00:19:13.519 --> 00:19:20.319
So I know that coffee is like a morning ritual, like that hot drink in the morning or coffee matcha, and I'm not against that at all.
00:19:20.480 --> 00:19:27.519
But when you are literally waking up and the first thing you're thinking about is, I need I need my coffee, I can't function without my coffee.
00:19:27.680 --> 00:19:36.720
And if you're then needing those caffeine hits throughout the day as well, that's when it's like, okay, you've actually got low energy and you're relying on a stimulant to help get you through.
00:19:36.799 --> 00:19:44.000
Yeah, so when you start to feel that low energy, that's your body telling you, hello, we're under-resourced, we need some resource.
00:19:44.240 --> 00:19:47.839
But what it doesn't actually need is like a load of stimulants.
00:19:47.920 --> 00:19:52.799
Yeah, it needs some B vitamins, it needs some magnesium, it needs your leafy greens, your protein.
00:19:53.119 --> 00:19:56.559
But our quick default is quick energy.
00:19:56.720 --> 00:20:05.279
Yeah, and I think as well, just especially in the time that we're in at the minute, everything is quick results, cheap things to buy, um, trends.
00:20:05.440 --> 00:20:06.880
Everyone's talking about magnesium.
00:20:07.039 --> 00:20:08.160
I'm gonna buy magnesium.
00:20:08.319 --> 00:20:15.519
Can you speak a little bit about how um, you know, we we all need different things for our body and how how to know what you should be taking?
00:20:15.599 --> 00:20:24.559
Um, because I think, you know, you can look at viral gummies that are on TikTok shop and think that you need them and you need to start on the cabinet's a card.
00:20:24.960 --> 00:20:37.119
But like what it are there things that maybe particularly as women um, you know, that are highly stressed quite a lot of the time, are there things that are like a good baseline level we should be taking, or is it just different for every single person?
00:20:37.519 --> 00:20:45.039
It is so different for every person, and that's why I'm a big fan of genetic testing to kind of know where your predispositions may sit.
00:20:45.680 --> 00:20:50.000
Um, in terms of things that would help everyone, minerals.
00:20:50.720 --> 00:20:52.400
Your minerals are like your spark plug.
00:20:52.480 --> 00:21:00.400
So imagine having your studio here of no electricity, we're not going to be getting very fast, and so if your body hasn't got minerals, things can't get from A to B.
00:21:00.559 --> 00:21:08.720
Minerals are cofactors in virtually everything in the body, and we can quickly become mineral depleted, especially where our food is not as nutrient-dense.
00:21:08.960 --> 00:21:15.759
We're not all getting our food from a lovely local farm, and it's that farm to table, it's like a really short amount of time.
00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:23.279
So, really good quality minerals, whether it's electrolytes or I prefer trace minerals, or there's a great brand called Drink Ocean.
00:21:23.440 --> 00:21:27.599
Um, they have lots of small amounts of all the minerals you need.
00:21:27.680 --> 00:21:30.480
So, all the ones we don't really talk about, there's there's loads of them.
00:21:30.880 --> 00:21:36.400
Um, and that can just help put some spark back into your body, quite literally, and energy.
00:21:36.559 --> 00:21:39.920
So, I'd say minerals of magnesium is one of them.
00:21:40.400 --> 00:21:44.880
Aside from that, the next thing I'd say is probably B vitamins in times of stress.
00:21:45.119 --> 00:21:55.839
Of course, we want to get them from food first always, but there will realistically be times where you're traveling so much, and quite frankly, eating three portions of leafy greens a day might not be realistic.
00:21:56.079 --> 00:21:59.599
So, having a good methylated B complex can just help give some.
00:22:00.079 --> 00:22:01.519
of those cofectors back in.
00:22:01.759 --> 00:22:01.920
Yeah.
00:22:02.079 --> 00:22:12.240
And one thing as well that I find fascinating that I've gone down a rabbit hole with in the past few years is ultra-processed food and like what's in our food and things are cheap for a reason.
00:22:12.400 --> 00:22:26.079
Um me and my mum, I don't even know how we came across it um a couple years ago about how isn't it really that food should have like a minimum of like three to five ingredients in it other than that and it's like ultra processed or something like that.
00:22:26.240 --> 00:22:28.400
Yeah so you have like minimally processed food.
00:22:28.480 --> 00:22:32.400
So like technically yogurt is a processed food like it's been processed.
00:22:32.640 --> 00:22:35.359
Whereas like an apple is like a is a whole food.
00:22:35.759 --> 00:22:38.000
So there'll be different levels on the scale.
00:22:38.160 --> 00:22:42.400
I always go with the motto of if your grandparents couldn't recognise it then it's not for you.
00:22:42.799 --> 00:22:46.640
Very good because I feel like we just we do just buy what's quick.
00:22:46.799 --> 00:22:56.880
Like when I was a couple years ago like super super busy every day to have microwave meals like just from like Tesco like 299 microwave meal because I was like oh well it's just tomato pasta.
00:22:56.960 --> 00:23:06.160
I didn't know about all the added things into that and now I'm on like HelloFresh I'm like cooking fresher food and like trying to veg and fruit and stuff which is really good.
00:23:06.319 --> 00:23:06.480
Yeah.
00:23:06.640 --> 00:23:38.000
But if you are someone that's you know super busy they make all the excuses I've not got time to do this I've not got time to do that what are some little I suppose like habits or even foods that you can implement that are that are fast and easy that that will make a difference I do love those meal deliveries like HelloFresh or whether it's Fry of Meals or you know any of those companies just to make give you the convenience you're seeking because ultimately that's what you're seeking you're seeking convenience but then you're getting the whole food and the freshness alongside it.
00:23:38.240 --> 00:23:44.960
Look at the um packets of food making sure it hasn't you you'd be surprised at how much sugar is added into foods.
00:23:45.119 --> 00:23:45.279
Yes.
00:23:45.920 --> 00:24:01.119
And also things like wheat I mean there's I could talk about gluten and wheat all day long but they just add in these fillers that could just be adding to inflammatory load messing with your blood sugars which you definitely don't want when you've got high stress because that can just put you on the blood sugar roller coaster all day.
00:24:01.359 --> 00:24:18.240
But going back to your point on the ready meals if you are putting something in the microwave that's in plastic microplastics I think someone said the other day I can't remember who this source is from but over the space of a week we consume about a credit card's worth of microplastics.
00:24:18.480 --> 00:24:20.079
Oh my god that's terrifying.
00:24:20.319 --> 00:24:35.519
I think it's around a week so don't quote me on that but just all of those elements of convenience it's also not just the nutrients we're not getting in but it's also what else are we getting in in terms of toxins in our body from putting something in the microwave and heating it up.
00:24:35.839 --> 00:25:49.279
So there's so many different elements so think about your food packaging you want to avoid plastics especially if they're not certified as BPA free um and then using the meal delivery um services and get that convenience that you need and opt for as many whole foods as you can I am not perfect I will still eat processed food sometimes because sometimes I will you know just want a girl rot and I'm just want to take away just want to takeaway or I will my one like treat or vice is a sourdough pizza and I don't I don't eat gluten normally but that's one thing like from my old like binge eating days it's like my one thing I love so I will still eat that but if you're if you're doing like 90 10 or 80 20 fine but also if you're on the floor burnt out lots of chronic health issues you should be prioritising whole foods as a first step over buying all the things on TikTok shop and all the supplements because they're also going to be filled with a lot of fillers as well yeah and I'd always avoid the gummies I know unless you have a real aversion to swallowing capsules and that's the only thing you can stomach um it's just gonna give you a blood sugar spike.
00:25:49.519 --> 00:26:16.400
What do you think about apps like Yucca you heard of Yucca where you can scan it is that because there's loads of things where it's like it's great but then some people say some brands pay for good ratings on there like do you think it's a good a good app I don't know about the conspiracy of brands paying but it wouldn't surprise me in this day and age honestly I've used those apps before I don't anymore because I will do my own research like directly with the brand I've reached out to brands directly and asked them questions before.
00:26:16.559 --> 00:26:28.319
Yeah and also like get the ingredients from these different products use AI as well become familiar with some of these products and also start to use the products that are cleaner.
00:26:28.480 --> 00:27:06.000
Yeah you know simpler simpler and then you always have these go-to of brands to buy from always try and buy direct instead of from Amazon and like give back to the small brands as well but you can always reach out to brands and ask them yeah 100% and even things like we do overcomplicate things like you know when people have like 12 different things that they take every day they don't actually need them because I've yeah I'm such a victim of I I'll buy what's trendy or all my friends are using this so I'll buy it and then I I've tried so many things and I take it and I just feel no difference at all because I just think my body probably didn't need that.
00:27:06.160 --> 00:27:10.079
And I think I've actually not taken many things where I've felt a huge difference.
00:27:10.160 --> 00:27:17.759
You know when people like oh my skin's glowing now or like I feel like I have my energy back and I feel like that says a lot to what's in the products which is scary.
00:27:18.000 --> 00:27:20.240
I think we can all end up with the supplement graveyard.
00:27:20.400 --> 00:27:21.519
Yeah so bad.
00:27:21.680 --> 00:27:57.440
But supplements and this is the thing that I have clients say to me about all about supplements supplements supplements supplements but if you don't have the foundations in place it's like building a house you need to build a house on a solid foundation not a wobbly one and that's your nutrition your movement your sleep your nervous system your like your stress all of those things supplements they're not strong enough obviously we wouldn't be able to buy them they'd be on prescription to make like a massive difference in most cases they are supplementary yeah which I think we forget now because supplements are like a multi-billion dollar industry.
00:27:57.599 --> 00:28:11.839
Yeah and I think as well to people that are listening that are like me where I I make loads of excuses for things I'm not I'm too busy to do this I'm too busy to do that and it is overwhelming to think I need to be having you know a good diet and exercising and meditating and things like that.
00:28:12.000 --> 00:28:16.559
But I've just tried to implement really small things that I know will make a difference.
00:28:16.640 --> 00:28:34.319
So like say if I do make a meal at home I've bought like glass containers to put it in rather than plastic or um I think I am definitely someone that says I don't have enough time to exercise and it'll just be like booking in one yoga class a week rather than forcing myself to try and do it every single day because it just doesn't happen.
00:28:35.039 --> 00:28:44.079
Why do you think a lot of business owners when they take time off go on holiday it's Christmas time why do they suddenly always feel awful and ill?
00:28:44.240 --> 00:28:57.279
Because that's what happened to me I had Christmas off I think it was last year and that's when my eyes started to flare up and I was like I wonder if there's a correlation here between taking a break and like being off work and it being Christmas time.
00:28:57.519 --> 00:30:04.799
There definitely is so when you're in this heightened stress state you've got high cortisol now cortisol can help protect us it's good like cortisol's got such a bad rep but it's quite literally protective but when your cortisol is always higher it can suppress the immune system but during that time you may come into contact with different bacteria viruses but the cortisol will suppress the impacts of it because you're always in this heightened stress state because your body's always thinking run then when that cortisol eventually comes down you get to the airport you're like on a plane you're going on holiday all of a sudden the cortisol comes down so whatever has been festering in the immune system that comes all the way up so that is why it can happen but then also if a lot of the time when people are then off from work and they're going to relax or they're having time off sometimes more often than not it does involve getting on a plane or a train or some kind of travel and during those times of travel you are exposed to more oxidative stress within the body so that's another thing that's causing inflammation which can then push all of these things up to the surface.
00:30:05.279 --> 00:30:23.200
We can have a disrupted circadian rhythm so our body clock's messed up and that is our master kind of compass within the body so it's all of those factors combined but it's all comes back to the cortisol which has been masking a lot of things and when then that comes down it's like all this stuff has been sitting there all the time.
00:30:23.440 --> 00:30:37.200
Yeah it happens for for like me and my sister because we work together like every Christmas like we'll always be super ill or just yeah we'll have like random flare-ups of things or you feel more even more stressed because you're not stressed.
00:30:37.279 --> 00:30:41.359
It's like you're waiting for something to happen sort of thing like you can't switch off and relax.
00:30:41.519 --> 00:30:41.759
Yeah.
00:30:42.000 --> 00:31:02.960
What would you say to business owners listening that that genuinely think I can't afford to slow down I don't have any time like so many people must say that do you like I don't have any time to this I don't have any time to eat healthy and they're in that really negative state of mind at the minute where they can feel it coming on maybe they're already burnt out but they're just genuinely saying to you I don't have time to do to do any of that.
00:31:03.279 --> 00:31:38.960
So I used to be that person and I I call it busy um busy girl syndrome and I I wore it like a badge of honour and I saw it from other people around me that I've worked with before and have crossed paths with and it's that you're such a hero because you're so busy and exhausted and what I would say is that I realized very quickly running my own business that I didn't want to be that person because actually the people that were looking to me for support or coming to me for guidance I was just giving off this frantic energy and exhausted energy.
00:31:39.119 --> 00:32:11.920
And I was like I don't want to be that person I want to be this grounded person this calmer person that is still you know feeling the heat it's not that I'm just like this cool calm chilled person all the time but I'm not as frantic and I just really started to change the way that I thought the type of person that I wanted to be like if I do want to expand my business one day and have a team do I want someone come into the office every day and thinking oh my god she's gonna be so stressed and now I'm gonna feel on edge I started to really learn a lot about energy and I decided I didn't want to give off that energy anymore.
00:32:12.079 --> 00:32:50.559
So it's been something I've been working on but for other people that aren't maybe at that place and they're physically like I don't have the resource to delegate I just don't have any hours in the day even finding an hour in the week that you can give yourself as that self-care as you said about your hour a week yoga to be able to book something in specifically for your nervous system to move yourself into rest and digest to remind your body this is what it feels like to be able to feel calm and even if that's one hour a week that you can start with initially because this is a bit of a kind of tough love approach but if you don't start to do that you'll get to a point where your body will make the choice for you.
00:32:50.799 --> 00:32:59.920
Oh yeah 100% and I think you'll agree as a business owner when you're thinking about longevity of your business your business will not have longevity if you're not there.
00:33:00.160 --> 00:33:28.160
Yeah and even I don't know how the universe does this but I always feel like when I am so on top of my self-care and I feel the best version of myself I feel like we're making more money we're doing better as a business when I am burnt out like crawling into work every day we're losing clients things aren't going well more things are going wrong I don't know what the correlation is there but whether you believe in like manifestation or what but it is just when you are the best version of yourself, the business is the best as well.
00:33:28.880 --> 00:33:46.319
What are some small things that people can implement into their daily lives and routines for people that do say I don't have time to do this and that are really just simple like tapping or it might be I mean random things like you know when people will do like things to karma notice and like little butterfly taps and things like that.
00:33:46.480 --> 00:33:54.640
Is there anything you can think of that you've helped business owners uh to do just to add into their lives and not add on to their plate sort of thing?
00:33:54.880 --> 00:33:57.839
So finding a modality that aligns with you.
00:33:58.079 --> 00:34:10.960
So it'll be different for everyone some things will be deemed more woo-woo for some but I personally love somatics and kind of I I'm not a somatics practitioner but teaching clients about it and helping them find a practitioner.
00:34:11.199 --> 00:34:31.199
So for example if you think about animals in the wild when they go on a hunt they vigorously shake after and that's the adrenaline but we will have these stressful situations every day we'll be on this adrenaline hire but we're sitting at our desks and we're typing like this so going into the bathroom at work and physically shaking your body I love to do that.
00:34:31.360 --> 00:35:15.519
Yeah and feel you need to do it and a client said this to me yesterday she's also she's a self-employed she's CEO and she said she's been doing that and she feels so much better and you know you might not want to do this in um you know a public bathroom but when you lay on your back or on your front that instantly calms your nervous system so for those that work from home I will sometimes do that and put my legs up the wall and I'll rock them from side to side um humming singing yeah so again if you're in an office of all your team you might not want to be prancing around the office singing and humming but I mean kidos to you if you do that but all those things help stimulate the vagus nerve and that basically touches virtually every organ in the body and system and that helps to calm and soothe.
00:35:15.840 --> 00:35:28.480
So I'm a big fan of the the movement and like the physical things to release the energy but for some people they just might not feel like they can do that in which case finding something that does resonate I love reflexology.
00:35:28.639 --> 00:35:57.440
Yeah my reflexology oh my god that's so good to have a I guess we'll go around and be like rub my feet and it's the best and I didn't know how much of our body's linked to our feet and she's taught me little exercises I can do at home and some people are like feet and so grossed out by it but it's so calming like I just get some little like balm and like rub it in and I'll just sit and like tuck different points in my feet or even in your hands, your ears um and it's all linked to different parts of the body is crazy.
00:35:57.599 --> 00:36:00.159
Just like your mouth and each tooth is linked to a different part of the body.
00:36:00.320 --> 00:36:12.880
Oh it's insane isn't it I've tried to because I I really am someone that makes a lot of excuses but I've recently tried to almost like habit stack and like include things that don't take me any time to do but will make a difference.
00:36:13.039 --> 00:36:24.320
So I saw some um I was looking online at like small things I can do and you can correct me on this if I'm wrong but um I saw that like having a red light in your room at night is better than like a big bright one.
00:36:24.639 --> 00:36:39.039
I love that one and so having that bright light that bright blue light that we have from our phones and devices that that keeps our cortisol up and pushes our melatonin down and you can't have cortisol when melatonin is up so like they work in opposites.
00:36:39.280 --> 00:36:48.159
So dimming your lights having red light another nervous system hack that I love and I will do this throughout the whole year I shower in the dark.
00:36:48.320 --> 00:36:53.679
Oh I'd love I've seen you can get like little shower lamps I'm gonna try or I'll have like my landing light on.
00:36:53.760 --> 00:37:02.159
Yeah so I I don't shower completely in the dark but my landing light so it's not my bathroom light and it's just so much more calm on the nervous system.
00:37:02.239 --> 00:37:14.400
Yeah and then I will have when of an of an evening I'll only have my red light on in my bedroom so that when I get out of the shower I turn my landing light off and my whole flat is like red.
00:37:14.639 --> 00:37:30.480
Yeah it's so nice and it just instantly calms you and then avoiding going on social media but if you do go on social media when you've got your red lights on you've done all the things and the dopamine draws you in put your phone on warm mode and wear blue light blocking glasses at the same time.
00:37:30.719 --> 00:37:33.360
Yeah I've tried the warm mode it does really help.
00:37:33.519 --> 00:37:55.679
And try not to hold your phone when you're scrolling really because it's that it's the EMFs and everything from the phone like just it can feel really over stimulating when you're trying to do the opposite so just if you really do have to scroll and I'm being realistic here we all have a little scroll at night sometimes just prop your phone up and just scroll so you're not holding like all of this energy.
00:37:55.840 --> 00:38:04.159
Yeah and I think as well it's really interesting like why we scroll and I think it's now because we've got really short attention spans and we need to be doing something with our hands.
00:38:04.320 --> 00:38:10.719
So this bit I my mum sometimes thinks I'm a bit mad for stuff like this but I've started to do things to keep my hands busy at night.
00:38:10.800 --> 00:38:12.320
So you can get like a fidget thing.
00:38:12.480 --> 00:38:19.440
Yeah so I've bought like fidget stuff I've even bought even like what four year olds have like the little popper toys so I'm just doing something.
00:38:20.559 --> 00:38:41.360
And even like last night I was my partner was laughing at me because I was I had um loom bands I bought loom bands I've been like looming at night so I'm like I've got a film on and I've got like you know you can crochet or you can loom band or you can do a puzzle or like something to keep my hands busy because otherwise if you're just sat there and the the film's a bit boring you just go on your phone straight away.
00:38:41.599 --> 00:38:52.960
Whereas now if I'm doing something to actively like keep my brain busy or my hands busy, my screen time has dropped loads and I just feel calmer like just doing a puzzle rather than going on your phone.
00:38:53.119 --> 00:39:10.800
But I think you've got to feel a bit silly sometimes doing all of this stuff because you're like why am I buying things for like four-year-old or like why am I even things like watching a Disney film calms me down rather than like watching like a really serious because things can have low and high energy I think so if you watch like a horror it's really low energy.
00:39:10.960 --> 00:39:15.360
Whereas if I'm watching like a Disney film like oh I feel like uplifted and karma.
00:39:15.440 --> 00:40:07.199
Yeah but I think we've got to that stage now in society where technology's ruled our lives for so long but also the impacts of the blue light and the over stimulation the draining of our dopamine constantly so we're now having to do these things yeah to avoid us becoming these creatures that are hunched over all the time I was on the train this morning everyone was hunched down every awful posture scrolling on their phone and I just thought what what has happened it's scary isn't it and I instantly the phone my phone gave me the ick for all of about 10 minutes and then it obviously came out again but it was just like oh god I don't like this it's like an exercise that I've tried to you know like instead of going on a walk listening to something like just go on a walk in silence and it feels really uncomfortable at first or you know if you're in like a waiting room at the doctor's like not going on your phone and just like sitting and it's like an you have to like retrain your brain to do that which is I love a morning walk without my phone.
00:40:07.360 --> 00:40:07.920
It's so nice.
00:40:08.000 --> 00:40:15.280
And I think it's annoying because as like a female on your own you're actually like oh I just don't always feel safe but I've just moved to a really safe area so that's good.
00:40:15.519 --> 00:40:18.800
But it where I used to live before I wouldn't have ever been able to do that.
00:40:19.119 --> 00:40:23.039
But to go out with no technology on you and I don't wear a wearable or anything like that.
00:40:23.199 --> 00:40:36.400
So it just feels really free but you're so right it feels a bit like on my brain I should be doing something yeah but actually no we shouldn't be yeah we shouldn't be scrolling and that's where my dopamine was so dysregulated.
00:40:36.719 --> 00:40:58.239
What is like the some of the scarier sides of if you don't address all this like what can stress and having high cortisol for years like what are some of the scary things it can actually do to your body that we might not know about so um without being like too sinister on it it can make people really ill.
00:40:58.400 --> 00:41:22.719
Yeah but there have been people that have you know personal stories I've either seen online or people that I know that they've gone through really traumatic instances when they're younger or growing up and they haven't felt like they've fully dealt with it and had a lot of emotional suppression and then they've had like really bad things happen with their health and there's no other explanation for why that happened other than these really significant stressful events.
00:41:22.960 --> 00:41:37.440
And these are some like really significant horrible things that have happened but this chronic low level stress I feel can really effectively be a breeding ground for things that we don't want to be breeding and growing within the body and it just puts such a strain on the body.
00:41:37.599 --> 00:41:46.719
We end up having dysregulated blood sugars which can then promote insulin resistance which we know is at the heart of so many different cancers and chronic health conditions.
00:41:46.880 --> 00:41:58.800
So it's a kind of a domino effect that can steamroll into lots of different things and I I always try and be like really empowering and lighthearted when I talk about these things but that is the cold yeah truth of it.
00:41:59.119 --> 00:42:20.239
And can't it affect things like fertility and again like your cycles like I remember years ago I used to work at Hollister and um I used to be so stressed out there and not eat enough and I remember I would miss some of my periods and I I and you can you kind of just think oh it's probably because of this and that but that's that's really not healthy for your body at all is it miss periods all the time with stress.
00:42:20.639 --> 00:42:31.360
The body's the body is really resilient right so I've I've seen clients who still have a lot of stress and they've still been able to get pregnant but it's not the case of if for everyone and then some women will also miss their periods as well.
00:42:31.599 --> 00:43:44.960
Yeah it's terrifying and even things like when I've been more aware of how my cycle works because I used to think my cycle was when I get my period but it's like a full like from day one to day whatever however long your cycle is how sort of how much does our cycle affect things like how productive you are your confidence your energy and do you think that when you learn more about that it can actually better you and your business so with a kind of quote unquote normal cycle where you ovulate or if you're not in contraception you ovulate you make your hormones Ehrin progesterone you've got testosterone there's a whole bunch of different hormones but when you have this ebb and flow of hormone production throughout a cycle hormones have lots of different roles in the body they're our chemical messengers so ESTRI is like our queen bee Beyonce hormone and so it can really give us our like sass our energy our femininity progesterone is known to be more of our karma testosterone helps to give us a bit of like oomph and endurance so when we have that ebb and flow we have all these feelings yeah throughout the cycle you know some women do like to kind of run their life around their cycle which is what we call cycle sinking where you might plan certain things.
00:43:45.119 --> 00:44:05.519
So for example if you were going to pitch to a brand new client doing that ovulation is a great time to do it because you've got your surge of testosterone your surge of estrogen and there's so much research around how we just give out this different type of energy and um lots Different other chemicals versus like the the day before your period when you may be a bit more depleted.
00:44:05.679 --> 00:44:09.440
But there's some women that just feel good their whole cycle, and that's amazing that they do.
00:44:09.519 --> 00:44:10.880
They are like the lucky ones.
00:44:11.039 --> 00:44:13.519
Um, so not everyone needs to cycle sync.
00:44:13.599 --> 00:44:16.960
And I think now there's a bit of a culture around you have to cycle sync.
00:44:17.119 --> 00:44:17.440
Yeah.
00:44:17.599 --> 00:44:21.199
But we also don't want to like limit ourselves if we are feeling good.
00:44:21.360 --> 00:44:23.039
Always go with how you're feeling on the day.
00:44:23.280 --> 00:44:34.639
Yeah, because I think when I learnt about the luteal phase, it helped me a lot because I would have, you know, a few days each month where I'd feel really low or I'd want to cry or I'd feel angry.
00:44:34.719 --> 00:44:34.880
Yeah.
00:44:35.119 --> 00:44:38.239
And I would beat myself up and be like, why do I feel like this?
00:44:38.320 --> 00:44:42.079
And I think when I would understand, like, oh, it's because like all of this has dropped.
00:44:42.239 --> 00:44:47.360
Of course, I'm gonna feel and then now if I feel it coming on, I'll be like, I'm just gonna watch a sad film and cry and let it out.
00:44:47.440 --> 00:44:48.159
And then you're fine.
00:44:48.559 --> 00:44:50.000
That's the best thing to do, get it out.
00:44:50.159 --> 00:44:54.800
But when your hormones drop, especially oestrogen, your serotonin and dopamine drop as well.
00:44:55.599 --> 00:44:59.840
So that's your pleasure hormone, that's your stability hormone, your happy hormone.
00:45:00.079 --> 00:45:08.719
So everything can drop, but what I would say is like anger and rage and irritability can sometimes be if you're not detoxifying your hormones well.
00:45:08.800 --> 00:45:08.960
Yeah.
00:45:09.119 --> 00:45:11.599
Because with hormones, we want to use it and lose it.
00:45:11.840 --> 00:45:13.360
So we're always making new ones.
00:45:13.519 --> 00:45:17.840
We don't want those hormones lingering there and having a kind of overflow.
00:45:18.000 --> 00:45:23.440
So if there is this like real irritability and rage, it can be if we're not detoxifying them well.
00:45:23.519 --> 00:45:23.679
Yeah.
00:45:24.000 --> 00:45:24.400
Getting them out.
00:45:24.639 --> 00:45:25.840
Yeah, I do get that sometimes.
00:45:26.320 --> 00:45:26.960
Probably not healthy.
00:45:27.119 --> 00:45:29.760
We might need to talk to more after.
00:45:30.000 --> 00:45:37.199
Um, and then in terms of like wellness, I feel like it has become more of a trend in the past few years, which I think is a good and a bad thing.
00:45:37.360 --> 00:45:45.280
I think we're more aware of it, we're looking after ourselves more, but I think it also means we're being marketed to more and like there's more trends.
00:45:45.519 --> 00:45:52.639
Is there anything that you think is actually could be making people worse or that you kind of don't really agree with?
00:45:53.039 --> 00:45:58.960
I think it's such a fine balance because I think that it is also promoting health anxiety with people.
00:45:59.119 --> 00:45:59.440
Yeah.
00:45:59.840 --> 00:46:06.880
And I have I have clients where I've literally said to them, from now on, I do not want you to book any more sessions with me.
00:46:07.280 --> 00:46:10.960
The money you'd spend with me, go and do the things that bring you joy in life.
00:46:11.280 --> 00:46:12.000
That's so nice.
00:46:12.239 --> 00:46:17.199
Because we've worked together for like a period of time, and they'll be like, Shall we do another retest?
00:46:17.280 --> 00:46:17.760
Shall we do this?
00:46:17.840 --> 00:46:21.119
And I'm like, No, you do not need to spend more money on a retest.
00:46:21.280 --> 00:46:36.400
And as a business owner, for me to say to people, don't spend money with me, but a lot of the time it's not it's not what people need at certain stages, and especially if they've already done a lot of work, that's when they're just going in this cycle which is feeding their health anxiety.
00:46:36.559 --> 00:46:43.679
So I'm very careful with that with clients in that we need to talk about the health anxiety picture and making sure that social media isn't feeding it for them.
00:46:43.920 --> 00:46:46.000
Yeah, because it's just constant, isn't it?
00:46:46.159 --> 00:46:50.639
And yeah, so many brands are trying to profit off of it, and things are so cheap.
00:46:50.719 --> 00:46:53.519
Like I'll see like supplements for like$2.99.
00:46:53.599 --> 00:46:54.960
I just think, why is it$2.99?
00:46:57.280 --> 00:46:59.440
But to me, I I that's what I say to people all the time.
00:46:59.519 --> 00:47:01.360
I'm like, if it's cheap, it's cheap for a reason.
00:47:01.440 --> 00:47:03.679
Like, yeah, if a jacket is cheap, it's for a reason.
00:47:03.840 --> 00:47:05.360
If food is cheap, it's for a reason.
00:47:05.519 --> 00:47:26.239
Like, I feel like once you realize that we are the product for things, you really think differently about you know, you you get older and you mature a bit with what you buy, and you want to buy things that are more expensive because it's made better and even scary things now, like buying tops from like Sheen or something, and that has chemicals on it that can like get into your skin.
00:47:26.559 --> 00:47:27.199
Yeah, that's terrifying.
00:47:27.440 --> 00:47:28.559
That could be like a whole other podcast.
00:47:28.719 --> 00:47:47.519
You've got wellness influencers now that are using the more um sustainable brands, but the brands that are using like cotton and fibers that haven't got these plastics in them, but it's also then really hard to make those clothes look the way we're used to and have the same feeling on our skin, especially performance-wise in the gym.
00:47:47.679 --> 00:47:54.480
So it's it's hard, but it's a space that is now really evolving because we're becoming so much more conscious of and seeing the impacts.
00:47:54.639 --> 00:47:57.280
We never used to live in active wear until recently.
00:47:57.440 --> 00:47:57.679
Yeah.
00:47:57.840 --> 00:47:59.840
So I think we're gonna see more of that over the next few years.
00:48:00.079 --> 00:48:02.719
Yeah, it's so interesting how it how it all develops.
00:48:02.880 --> 00:48:11.440
Um, have you got in mind like a really stressful situation you've been through, whether that was in your previous career or like your career today?
00:48:11.679 --> 00:48:13.760
And how did you overcome it?
00:48:13.920 --> 00:48:17.760
Like, how did how did that affect you at the time and like your body at the time?
00:48:18.079 --> 00:48:26.880
I think it was about six months in, and things just really started to take off, and I just never expected things to take off in that way.
00:48:26.960 --> 00:48:45.360
I think I started working with um some content creators, and I went on a podcast, and I just and it was a good problem to have, but I got so many inquiries and bookings, and I had I didn't really understand how to do my sort of my booking system and how many clients could I take on in one go and how much time would one client take me.
00:48:45.679 --> 00:49:00.159
I was just kind of winging it, I just wanted to help people, and I had no idea, and I just didn't have the right infrastructure in place, I didn't have support, so I ended up getting a VA and I just was like, I felt like the ground was swallowing me up.
00:49:00.239 --> 00:49:05.280
I was like, this is meant to be the best time ever because this is what I wanted, but now it's here.
00:49:05.360 --> 00:49:22.960
I was like, oh, I didn't really anticipate that there'd be all this new stress and things I didn't think about because you kind of just think, oh, when you're successful, everything's fine, and then you get your first little bit of I don't even I cringe about saying it, but success, and you're like, oh my god, but now it's like like what do I need to set aside for tax?
00:49:23.039 --> 00:49:28.239
And like could I need to get like an accountant that can help me with all these things and how do I market myself better?
00:49:28.320 --> 00:49:35.760
And it I honestly I went into this sinking hole, and I'll be honest, I'm I'm not a natural business owner, it doesn't come naturally to me.
00:49:36.000 --> 00:49:40.320
I want to help women, whether it's public speaking or one-to-one clients.
00:49:40.559 --> 00:49:48.400
I love that side of it, so I'm still very much struggling with that, and I will have episodes of what on earth am I doing?
00:49:48.480 --> 00:49:51.039
Like from a business perspective, like how do I do this stuff?
00:49:51.119 --> 00:49:53.440
Like, yeah, my brain just doesn't work in that way.
00:49:53.599 --> 00:49:56.960
Yeah, I always say more money equals more problems.
00:49:57.119 --> 00:50:11.199
So, like, I know that it's it's so amazing to look at people who have big teams, big, you know, huge multi-million pound businesses, but it's more stress, it's more, you know, uh outgoings, more tax that you have to pay.
00:50:11.599 --> 00:50:12.000
Pressure.
00:50:12.159 --> 00:50:14.079
It's like no one really speaks about that.
00:50:14.159 --> 00:50:21.360
Like, yes, you can have your best month ever, but that means you probably had to hire more people and you've had to allocate more money and you've had to pay more tax.
00:50:21.519 --> 00:50:23.199
Like it's it's stressful.
00:50:23.440 --> 00:50:27.840
Yes, it is that so that must have been the biggest thing, but I would say it's very much ongoing.
00:50:28.000 --> 00:50:42.239
So, and also I think it's interesting when um people work in an industry where they're helping people because you do like my mum, like said, she does reflexology and you want to help people, but you do have to charge for it, you have to make a living from it.
00:50:42.480 --> 00:50:49.599
And there's always a disconnect between well, I I don't want to charge people because I'm just trying to help them and I don't know how much to charge for things.
00:50:49.679 --> 00:50:55.199
Yeah, but you are making such a difference to people's lives that you know, and you have to live yourself.
00:50:55.360 --> 00:50:56.880
Have you had that like moral dialogue?
00:50:57.280 --> 00:51:04.079
Huge and I've done so many things for free, reduced rates, but it got to the point where I couldn't keep doing it.
00:51:04.159 --> 00:51:09.679
Like, I still drive a car that's 10 years old because I invested so much back into my business.
00:51:09.840 --> 00:51:14.960
It got to the point where I was like, I I can't afford to buy myself a new car because like what have I been?
00:51:15.199 --> 00:51:18.880
I've been doing 12-hour days, I've been so busy, I've been exhausted.
00:51:19.039 --> 00:51:35.679
So I needed to change things and I needed to start charging for my time, all of the money I've put back in investing in the business, which has upskilled me, and what I know I put into my client work in terms of like my compassion, how much I care, my mentorship, all of those things.
00:51:35.840 --> 00:51:38.400
And so now I am charging more appropriately.
00:51:38.559 --> 00:51:41.760
Yeah, but it always needs to be revisited, I think.
00:51:42.000 --> 00:51:43.599
It's always just a mindset thing.
00:51:43.679 --> 00:51:51.840
We were speaking before about women in business versus men in business, and I feel like men do have more of that confidence, just be like, This is what it is, and here's what I'm charging.
00:51:52.159 --> 00:51:54.639
Whereas women have to justify it a bit more.
00:51:54.719 --> 00:52:02.000
And I've had to have like training for things like sales calls, you know, when you say the price and you're supposed to like sit in silence and you just like that makes me shut up.
00:52:02.320 --> 00:52:07.360
I actually had a client, she's now become one of my really good friends, which is a bit of a common theme with clients of mine.
00:52:07.519 --> 00:52:09.760
But she says to me, She's like, You undercharging.
00:52:10.320 --> 00:52:12.159
She's like, You've just you've undercharged me.
00:52:12.320 --> 00:52:14.239
Yeah, she's like, You need to take that on board.
00:52:14.320 --> 00:52:16.800
And I was like, okay.
00:52:16.960 --> 00:52:25.519
I find it hard taking on that constructive criticism of is I've I find I found it really hard to take on board that to that someone had said that to me.
00:52:25.679 --> 00:52:28.719
I wonder why it's such a a woman thing, such a female thing.
00:52:28.800 --> 00:52:32.320
It's so sad as I know, I know, it really is, but I'm I'm working on it.
00:52:32.480 --> 00:52:33.360
I have got better.
00:52:33.599 --> 00:52:39.039
And we all advocate for each other so much, like we'll all be like, you're amazing, you need to charge more, but you never take it on yourself.
00:52:39.199 --> 00:52:41.039
No, which is the worst, like any other advice.
00:52:41.199 --> 00:52:41.440
Yeah.
00:52:41.599 --> 00:52:47.920
Um, if you could give every well, let's do, I feel like this episode is more linked to female business owners.
00:52:48.000 --> 00:52:55.519
If you could give one piece of advice to every female business owner to protect her health while still being ambitious, what do you think that would be?
00:52:55.840 --> 00:53:05.360
I would say the biggest thing, and this is based on the nervous system work I've done recently, is protect your energy because that can be like an invisible drain on your business.
00:53:06.000 --> 00:53:19.840
And if you've got some like people in your team that you're not aligning with, or there's like toxic energy somewhere in like wherever your business is or what you do, like a relationship, anything, get rid of it.
00:53:20.000 --> 00:53:29.679
Yeah, because it'll be an invisible drain, whether you realize it or not, on the energy you then put back into your business and how you show up every day.
00:53:29.840 --> 00:53:37.360
And I realize now, like over the minerals, the food, the sleep, that is the biggest thing because that can just be chipping away every day without you realising.
00:53:37.599 --> 00:53:40.960
Yeah, because as well, we hate to say no to things, we hate to let people know.
00:53:41.199 --> 00:53:45.679
Classic people pleasers, like and I think it's that whole mentality.
00:53:45.840 --> 00:53:52.239
But if you can really sit down and think about, you know, when you said you get that pit in your stomach, what is giving you the pit in your stomach every day?
00:53:52.480 --> 00:53:56.960
Is it one client that is always making you feel that way?
00:53:57.199 --> 00:54:01.440
Maybe it's time that you know, because that's not gonna serve you well in the end.
00:54:01.519 --> 00:54:04.960
Yes, they might be paying you every month, but that's impacting your health.
00:54:05.119 --> 00:54:08.559
Yeah, and you have got to go so much deeper with things as well.
00:54:08.719 --> 00:54:17.599
Like I would always think I want to feel less stressed, but then you have got to go back and think, why do I feel that stressed when I'm going on a client call?
00:54:17.679 --> 00:54:26.239
And then for me, it's because I've learned it's because I'm afraid of confrontation because of past events where I've been shut down when I've tried to voice my opinions.
00:54:26.320 --> 00:54:32.880
And then you do have to sort of um almost do a bit of therapy on yourself to be like, well, why am I feeling like that?
00:54:32.960 --> 00:54:36.639
Before just being like, oh, I'll just take a bit of ashwagandha and feel less stress.
00:54:36.880 --> 00:54:41.280
Like you've got to link the mindset work with the like the health work, I suppose.
00:54:41.519 --> 00:54:45.199
Like it, like you said, it's not like a you take this supplement and you feel fine.
00:54:45.280 --> 00:54:45.920
You've got to do the work.
00:54:46.320 --> 00:54:47.360
It's a 360 approach.
00:54:47.440 --> 00:54:49.519
You have to do all a little bit of exposure therapy.
00:54:49.599 --> 00:54:52.960
Yeah, keep dipping your toe in because it is character building.
00:54:53.119 --> 00:55:02.000
But if something is always coming up and it's more of a deep-rooted issue, then yes, that is something that needs to be addressed in some way because it's just gonna keep following you around like a bad smell.
00:55:02.159 --> 00:55:04.000
Yeah, oh, it does for me all the time.
00:55:04.239 --> 00:55:12.079
Um, knowing everything that you know now, what would you go you go back and tell the past version of Zoe who was pushing herself towards burnout?
00:55:12.320 --> 00:55:16.079
I'd go back and be like, Can you not see you've got ADHD?
00:55:16.480 --> 00:55:19.679
Stop, stop, start working with your body instead of against it.
00:55:19.840 --> 00:55:24.000
I spent so much of my life masking, yeah, which has made me feel exhausted.
00:55:24.079 --> 00:55:26.480
And my PMDD was definitely linked to that.
00:55:26.800 --> 00:55:29.920
And I it drained my energy.
00:55:30.079 --> 00:55:40.960
If I could go back now and know, like say to my dad, why didn't you see that I that I had I had this like and he was just like, We just thought that you were just you know a bit different.
00:55:41.119 --> 00:55:43.840
You liked rearranging your bedroom furniture every weekend, right?
00:55:45.519 --> 00:55:49.920
Like in the middle of the night, I'd be like, I need to like move my bed to the other side of my room.
00:55:50.320 --> 00:55:52.239
Like, and I said, How did you not see that?
00:55:52.320 --> 00:55:56.079
But I wish I could go back and then just work with my body instead of against it.
00:55:56.320 --> 00:55:59.280
One other thing is, do you know your human design?
00:55:59.599 --> 00:56:04.719
No, I years ago I looked into it, but I didn't take it on as much as I should have done.
00:56:04.960 --> 00:56:10.000
So I'm a projector, which is quite a rare one, yeah, and that's where you have to be invited in.
00:56:10.400 --> 00:56:14.960
So for me, doing like cold calls, sending out all these emails, inquiries, it doesn't work.
00:56:15.119 --> 00:56:19.039
And whenever I have done that, or my like VA at the time, we did that, it never worked.
00:56:19.119 --> 00:56:26.719
But then I'd get approached by big brands or like big clients because if I put out my authentic self, people come to me.
00:56:26.800 --> 00:56:35.119
Yeah, so when I started working towards that, and if I'd have known that at the time and my ADHD, I feel like everything would have been so different.
00:56:35.199 --> 00:56:36.639
But yeah, shoulda, woulda, coulda.
00:56:36.719 --> 00:56:37.440
Shoulda wulda cudda.
00:56:37.679 --> 00:56:42.480
It's just learning about yourself more as a person and not shrugging things off and being annoyed.
00:56:42.639 --> 00:56:43.920
Like, I think we all do that.
00:56:44.000 --> 00:56:46.079
We get we're like, oh, why do I feel so stressed?
00:56:46.239 --> 00:56:47.599
Why does this get to me so much?
00:56:47.840 --> 00:56:51.360
But it's like we'll take a second to figure out why that is.
00:56:51.519 --> 00:56:57.760
Like, I love um one of in Mel Robbins in one of her books, she was like, You have to ask yourself why seven times.
00:56:57.840 --> 00:56:59.119
Like, I feel stressed, why?
00:56:59.280 --> 00:57:00.800
Because I don't like confrontation, why?
00:57:00.880 --> 00:57:03.440
And then you keep going until you figure out what the reason is.
00:57:04.480 --> 00:57:07.519
Um, so we'll finish off with a quick speed round.
00:57:07.760 --> 00:57:10.960
Um, you don't have to answer with one word because I don't think anyone can do that.
00:57:11.039 --> 00:57:11.599
So elaborate.
00:57:12.960 --> 00:57:14.559
Elaborate as much as you need to.
00:57:14.800 --> 00:57:19.039
Um, what was your most recent business-related mental breakdown?
00:57:19.519 --> 00:57:21.679
Um, it was around social media.
00:57:21.840 --> 00:57:22.159
Yeah.
00:57:22.719 --> 00:57:24.480
Which is why I've got to call with you.
00:57:25.360 --> 00:57:34.159
I literally am like, I can't practice what I preach at the minute because I feel like I'm just so, you know, and you feel like you've posted everything you could post.
00:57:34.320 --> 00:57:35.679
I'm like, what else is that to speak about?
00:57:36.559 --> 00:57:38.800
I feel like sometimes I don't have anything to say.
00:57:38.960 --> 00:57:39.119
Yeah.
00:57:39.360 --> 00:57:42.639
And then my clients and friends will be like, you've got so much to say.
00:57:42.800 --> 00:57:46.960
When you start talking, we're like our mouths open, and we'd be like, door drop, but how do you know this stuff?
00:57:47.119 --> 00:57:50.719
But because I'm in it all the time, like you're in you're in socials all the time.
00:57:50.800 --> 00:57:51.519
Yeah, all the time.
00:57:51.760 --> 00:57:56.400
You feel like other people around you, like they're like, Oh, it's just I've said this before.
00:57:56.719 --> 00:58:01.199
Yeah, but to you, it's like yeah, it's just normal, but to other people, they're like, Wow, that's incredible.
00:58:01.360 --> 00:58:04.239
Yeah, um, what a quote that you live by.
00:58:04.559 --> 00:58:14.159
It's what my spinal um energetics practitioner, which is a nervous system modality, I do, she said to me, and it was the you can't have expansion without contraction.
00:58:14.320 --> 00:58:15.760
Yeah, I love that.
00:58:15.920 --> 00:58:22.719
And she's incredible, she's taught me so much in such a short space of time, and that has just left an imprint in me.
00:58:22.960 --> 00:58:29.280
Yeah, it's almost like that quote of like, you have to break something to fix it, or to fix something, you have to break it first, sort of thing.
00:58:29.440 --> 00:58:39.039
Like you have to um, like when I've had some of my lowest moments in business, I'm so thankful for them because it it helps me to address why that happened and then it doesn't happen again, sort of thing.
00:58:39.280 --> 00:58:40.480
You have to learn from it, yeah.
00:58:40.639 --> 00:58:40.880
100%.
00:58:41.679 --> 00:58:45.039
Um, what's been your proudest moment in business so far?
00:58:45.360 --> 00:58:46.559
Client pregnancies.
00:58:46.719 --> 00:58:48.239
Oh, I thought that's incredible.
00:58:48.480 --> 00:58:49.360
It's so nice.
00:58:49.440 --> 00:58:52.719
Um, especially because I don't I don't think I want children myself.
00:58:52.800 --> 00:58:56.559
And some people might think, why it's why are you why do you love getting other women pregnant?
00:58:56.800 --> 00:58:57.920
I just love it, yeah.
00:58:58.159 --> 00:59:02.239
Because I just I I know from like people close to me like how hard that journey can be.
00:59:02.320 --> 00:59:11.760
So when it happens, especially when women have been told by doctors and endocrinologists they're never gonna be able to have a baby, and they've got you know conditions that they've been like born with.
00:59:11.840 --> 00:59:21.519
And there was this one client in Germany, and she got pregnant, and she was just she's never even really had a proper period, and then she put some things in place, and her periods had to come back and she got pregnant.
00:59:21.760 --> 00:59:22.639
That's incredible.
00:59:22.800 --> 00:59:37.199
And I was just she sent me this email, and I just like burst into tears, and I was like, Oh my god, because like I know this stuff works, yeah, I know the training, the people I've learned from, but you'll still have these moments, and you'll have this if you have a client that goes viral, you're like, it works.
00:59:37.599 --> 00:59:39.280
Yeah, you know it works when you have a lot of people.
00:59:39.440 --> 00:59:40.880
You're looking fraud sometimes, don't you?
00:59:41.360 --> 00:59:42.079
Of course, yeah.
00:59:42.159 --> 00:59:44.079
So those moments are great.
00:59:44.159 --> 00:59:53.599
And when I have PMDD clients who go from being like suicidal every month to being able to go about their daily life, those who are on par for me.
00:59:53.840 --> 00:59:56.000
But you've just got so many babies around the world.
00:59:56.320 --> 00:59:56.880
Oh, yeah.
00:59:57.280 --> 01:00:00.000
Actually, I've got one soon to be born in Average Abbey.
01:00:00.079 --> 01:00:00.320
Wow.
01:00:00.559 --> 01:00:02.880
Um, and then most of them in the UK, one in Germany.
01:00:02.960 --> 01:00:04.000
Yeah, there's just quite a few now.
01:00:04.320 --> 01:00:04.880
Worldwide babies.
01:00:07.039 --> 01:00:09.920
Um, what's been a book or movie that's changed your life?
01:00:10.159 --> 01:00:15.599
Oh, the book has to be Mind Your Body by Nicole Sachs, and that's how about how we can store emotions in the body.
01:00:15.840 --> 01:00:16.559
I'm gonna read that.
01:00:16.960 --> 01:00:27.760
How um even she does this bespoke journaling exercise and how it gets emotions out, and people have been healing their chronic pain conditions and health conditions purely with nervous system regulation.
01:00:28.000 --> 01:00:39.440
It's so fascinating, isn't it, with like the older generation, like our grandparents, they all have like back pain, neck pain, leg pain, and it's because that I think it's because it's like emotion that they've trapped their whole life.
01:00:39.599 --> 01:00:42.559
Yeah, whereas if they went for a bit of therapy, I bet it I bet it would just disappear.
01:00:42.719 --> 01:00:51.440
And then you have generational trauma, which is a real thing, it's been shown in studies for like Holocaust survivors, their grandchildren and children, they have imprints on their genes.
01:00:51.599 --> 01:00:52.559
Oh my god, that's insane.
01:00:52.960 --> 01:00:54.880
It's incredible, our bodies, how it works.
01:00:54.960 --> 01:00:58.960
Yeah, um, what's one thing you cannot live without as a business owner?
01:00:59.360 --> 01:01:00.400
My network.
01:01:00.639 --> 01:01:02.559
Yeah, honestly, I lean on them so much.
01:01:02.639 --> 01:01:05.679
I've got incredible mentors and incredible peers.
01:01:05.840 --> 01:01:09.679
We all lean on each other, and then I've got clients that have become good friends.
01:01:09.760 --> 01:01:16.159
So, like the people around me that have come into my life over the last two years, absolutely could not do this without them.
01:01:16.639 --> 01:01:17.039
100%.
01:01:17.840 --> 01:01:21.280
What's one person you couldn't live without as a business owner?
01:01:21.760 --> 01:01:26.480
I I literally I can't pick a person out of any of those people because I'll get in so much trouble.
01:01:26.719 --> 01:01:31.360
But it's the the same answer, it's the it's the people, like all of them as a collective.
01:01:31.519 --> 01:01:31.840
Yeah.
01:01:32.239 --> 01:01:42.719
I I was definitely someone that was very like introverted and shy, and I didn't go to like networking, like the word networking would give me the echo, I don't want to network with people.
01:01:42.880 --> 01:01:47.519
But when I've put myself out there specifically last year, it's incredible.
01:01:47.599 --> 01:01:50.000
Like the the we all just think exactly the same.
01:01:50.079 --> 01:01:55.039
Yeah, and when you share something, someone's been through it before, and it just makes you feel like instantly lighter, doesn't it?
01:01:55.119 --> 01:01:57.679
And just like more normal for going through what you're going through.
01:01:57.920 --> 01:02:00.239
You have to find your people because you have to have your village.
01:02:00.400 --> 01:02:04.800
I think, especially when you're self-employed or a business owner, you have to have your village.
01:02:04.960 --> 01:02:06.880
Yeah, because they literally get you through.
01:02:07.039 --> 01:02:08.559
Yeah, you will spiral.
01:02:08.719 --> 01:02:11.440
Um, what's your daily non-negotiable?
01:02:12.320 --> 01:02:15.119
Mine has to be movement.
01:02:15.440 --> 01:02:19.199
If I don't move my body, I get really irritable and my digestion is off.
01:02:19.360 --> 01:02:24.079
Yeah, it's like if my digestion is off, then I'm not I'm not happy.
01:02:24.400 --> 01:02:26.559
When that's good, I'm like, oh, all is well.
01:02:26.800 --> 01:02:28.079
You're not happy, Zoe, if you don't.
01:02:28.320 --> 01:02:29.440
I'm not happy, Zoe, exactly.
01:02:29.519 --> 01:02:34.159
Um, what's something you feel pressured to be great at as a business owner, but you haven't quite mastered yet?
01:02:34.400 --> 01:02:35.199
Social media.
01:02:36.000 --> 01:02:37.360
Oh, it's the bane of my life.
01:02:37.519 --> 01:02:44.000
I just I feel like as soon as you start to become as soon as you become a business owner, all of a sudden you're a content creator, an influencer.
01:02:44.239 --> 01:02:47.199
I'm like, I didn't really sign up for this, but it's a part of my job.
01:02:47.280 --> 01:02:53.679
I'm now slowly starting to like, yeah, but I just I need to know how to do it more that's authentic to me.
01:02:54.079 --> 01:03:04.079
So I'm showing up as myself, yeah, because I see a lot of other people doing it, and I I know them in real life, and I'm like, There's a bit of a mismatch here, and I that's great for them, but I don't want to be that.
01:03:04.559 --> 01:03:11.760
It's like having another full-time job and it being expected to show up all the time, it's just a lot, isn't it?
01:03:11.920 --> 01:03:16.960
It's another mask, and I've worn a mask my whole life, and now I'm just not doing that anymore.
01:03:17.119 --> 01:03:23.119
I don't then want to go on a social media platform and feel like I'm wearing it again because that's what I'm moving away from.
01:03:23.360 --> 01:03:25.840
Yeah, another thing to add to the to-do list.
01:03:26.159 --> 01:03:27.679
Yes, yes.
01:03:27.920 --> 01:03:33.199
Well, I feel I've taken so many mental notes from that, I'm gonna have to listen back and physically write the notes down.
01:03:33.440 --> 01:03:40.880
Um, but is there anything you want to leave, like words of wisdom, or anything you want to promote that you've got coming up?
01:03:41.119 --> 01:03:41.920
Anything like that?
01:03:42.320 --> 01:03:49.199
Words of wisdom would be as a business owner, remind yourself why you started the business.
01:03:49.519 --> 01:03:56.960
And normally a reason for starting the business is one, the passion, but two, so you can have more flexibility so you're not on the corporate grind.
01:03:57.039 --> 01:04:02.000
Yeah, remind yourself that you can book a Pilates class at 9am on a Friday if you want to.
01:04:02.239 --> 01:04:03.360
No one's gonna die.
01:04:03.599 --> 01:04:04.639
No one is gonna die.
01:04:04.800 --> 01:04:08.559
Yeah, you have that flexibility, you're the CEO, you're the founder.
01:04:08.719 --> 01:04:15.440
Use that and support your body, and by supporting your body, you're supporting your teams, your business longevity, and your clients.
01:04:16.320 --> 01:04:28.559
Um, and then in terms of what I'd like to promote, I've got I can't talk about it yet, but I've got something huge happening in autumn, and it's like I can't even believe that I'm doing it, and it's just incredible.
01:04:28.719 --> 01:04:30.639
Um stay tuned for that.
01:04:30.880 --> 01:04:32.239
Stay tuned for that, yeah.
01:04:32.400 --> 01:04:37.360
Until then, busy with my client work and talking about hormones all the time.
01:04:37.679 --> 01:04:38.000
Amazing.
01:04:38.159 --> 01:04:40.000
Where can people find you if they want to follow you?
01:04:40.239 --> 01:04:45.440
So I'm predominantly on Instagram, so my Instagram handle is Zoe Jane Hindle.
01:04:45.599 --> 01:04:50.000
I am on TikTok, but I'm not using it as much yet, but I do need to join it more.
01:04:50.400 --> 01:04:52.960
Um, or my website, zoejanehindle.com.
01:04:53.039 --> 01:04:53.599
Is my booking?
01:04:53.760 --> 01:04:55.119
Yes, I'll get you on TikTok.
01:04:55.280 --> 01:04:56.320
Yes, you will.
01:04:56.639 --> 01:04:57.199
Amazing.
01:04:57.280 --> 01:04:58.559
Well, thank you so much, Zoe.
01:04:59.360 --> 01:05:00.880
And I'll see you on the next episode.
