All the cool kids are bookmarking the paid br e t baart dot Com. Great reporting there and of course you get to read what Winton Hall rights. He's the social media director for bright Bart News. His data driven strategies have generated billions of interactions and helped forge one of the most influential digital platforms in American politics and media. Went In a distinguished Fellow with Government Accountab the Institute, and former visiting Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He has authored or collaborated on twenty seven books, including multiple New York Times bestseller sellers for world leaders, tech moguls, and celebrities, and his newest book, a New York Times bestseller, Code Read The Left, the Right, China and the Race to Control Ai by my guest today, Went and Haul. Welcome to the fifty five KRSE Morning Show. It is a distinct pleasure to have you on.
00:00:53
Speaker 2: Oh great to be with you, Brian. Thank you so much for having me well.
00:00:56
Speaker 1: And cutting to the Chase. Now we obviously we're going to talk about the ins and outs of the ys and where of artificial intelligence generally speaking, but something I have been commenting on and you sum it up quite nicely in your notes here. Whether we are ready or not, you do not get to opt out of the AI revolution. That decision has already been made for you. Which speaking to people in my last segment about people in Ohio that maybe don't want artificial intelligence data centers around them. This wave is coming and there's not a damn thing we can do to stop it. So we either join in the bandwagon and reap whatever potential benefit, if any, you get from it, or you let somebody else do it, like the Chinese Communist Party. Winton, Is there anything good to come from AI? Or is it all gloom and doom?
00:01:35
Speaker 2: No, it's a great question, Brian. You're exactly right. Ninety nine percent of us use AI, but sixty four percent of people don't often realize when they're using a GI and it's because it's baked into the algorithms that power everything in our lives, right from our weather apps to our streaming services to GPS and so one of the things that I wanted to try to convey is the urgency of understanding what the negatives are what I call the landmines, but also that there will be roses as well. So roses and land mines is the way I frame it. In code, read and really walking through how it is reshaping every single part of the policy world that we have in the conservative movement have navigated through four decades, whether you're talking about indoctrination versus education of our children, whether you're talking about creating or erasing jobs, or as we're seeing right now in Iran and previously in Venezuela with the Maduro rate, the battlefield implications of AI warfare. And so we've got to get coached up so that we can seize the roses but also mitigate those land mines. And that's what I try to do. You're exactly right. The attitudes about AI though in America extremely negative, twenty six percent positive, US forty six percent negative, and the rest trying to figure it out, and so want to try to be able to get people caught up to speed.
00:02:52
Speaker 1: Well, wait, and you talk about it in terms of roses and landmines. I, of course not being a tech savvy kind of guy. I don't know what's behind the programming and all this, although we do unders Dana has a very nefarious component to it, or can what motivated this huge accelerated push toward adopting and expanding AI. Was it the positive societal benefits or was it for this nefarious behind the scene purpose, like in doctrinating our children into what seems to predominate within AI, which is left winging ideology.
00:03:20
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, left wing leaning ideology is absolutely baked in, and it is baked into large language models LMS through AI chapbops. There are here are the roses economic boon. Currently, we know that one third of the S and P five hundred is constituted around the mag seven otherwise known as the Magnificent Seven, are seven largest tech companies. So it is a tent pole economically. And we do know though that what happened with China when China released Deep Seak It's AI model R one, it rocked America's in Vidia six hundred billion dollars, the first the biggest largest market cap wipeout one day in history. So you've got to tuggle war economically. But the real reason though that you're seeing particularly President Trump and the administration lean in so strongly on AI is this and it's China. And the reason why I say in code right, we have to beat China without becoming China. Nobody wants to live in a techno authoritarian surveillance state, right, I mean that we do. Yeah, we do not want to emulate, as you know Brian the CCP. Here's though, what we do want. We want to protect our soldier, sailors, airmen, marines, and our special forces. And here's why this really does matter. Whoever achieves dominance in the AI race is going to have full spectrum dominance on the battlefield and things like encryption, cybersecurity, hacking of missile systems, and hacking of infrastructure. And you saw just in the last couple of weeks anthropics wouldn't even release mythos It's code hacking software because of the national security implications. So it is real that we you have to beat China. But what I wanted to get people to understand, though, is even if you think it's all hype, even if you have still not come to the belief that AI is reshaping everything, understand the left plans to politically weaponize AI as it relates to control in scan and band technology, for censorship, in indoctrination of woke curriculum in our schools, in being able to shape and mold the electoral attitudes of people when they're doing an AI search, and increasingly economically. One of the biggest things, Brian, is that many of Silicon Valley, who are the architects of AI, want universal basic income. What is UBI Universal basic income socialism? Right, That's what they is. So they view it as an economic reset opportunity. And so in code read, I literally have eighty pages over eight hundred in notes. This was a two year deep hive investigation. So I wanted to try to shave everybody's learning curve off this because it's a five dimensional chess game. Left is going to play and is with big tech on how they can weaponize it politically.
00:06:05
Speaker 1: So and the point being, elites are planning on weaponizing artificial intelligence job losses to push dependency, and I saw that and I understand how that cause people are most assuredly people are going to lose jobs because of AI, I mean white collar jobs most notably I practice law for sixteen years, and AI can make it so easy to at least do an initial draft, not that you would ever rely on something generated by AI and server to the court. You're going to get in trouble, but it cuts out so much time, so fewer lawyers are going to be needed. That's one area that will be impacted, just one unfamiliar with. But the one thing that it seems to bring with it the eradication or elimination of this nonsensical green energy nonsense. You can't power these centers without a massive amount of power, which ultimately is going to serve to benefit us. The advancement of small modular reactors, the reawakening to the world that nuclear power generates gazillions of amounts of power without any carbon dioxide to the sent You care about that, so that might be a corollary benefit. But this dependency thing, I worry about that. As you talked about universal basic income, they're already dumbing down our children just via the education system generally. And if kids are gonna start relying on AI, they're only going to get a one sided political view of the world, and that's going to support their idea of being a dependent on somebody else's labor.
00:07:20
Speaker 2: No, you just hit three, really important vital points that everybody has to really marinate their mind on. Number one is the energy explosion. You're right, one of the ironies here here Now the people who for decades preached to us that global warming is this, you know, horrible thing in Silicon Valley, big tech elites were the ones leading that charge. Now all of a sudden they're realizing, wait a minute, we need energy dominance. So it's a kind of a funny irony there. Number two is on the dependency in incode and I talk about the largest universal basic income study ever mailbox money a check for with no strings attached was done in twenty sixteen. It was it lasted several years. It was a sixty million dollars study. Who did that study and who funded it? Sam Altman at open AI. Now, Brian, why in twenty sixteen is Sam Altman doing the biggest most comprehensive longitudinal study And when was a chat SPT released by open AI and Sam Waldman. It wasn't until November of twenty twenty two, six years ahead. He is doing the biggest, most robust studies in how to redistribute money toward well toward global towards socialism. So people have to understand this is a very very very fast moving political game that that left elites are playing. They understand this is the power grab of the century. Whoever gets this control and who gets their first is going to dominate. The thing you brought up about critical thinking is essential. The studies are very clear. It's called they call it cognitive offloading, which is just a fancy way of saying a student, a child, whenever they're using AI as a mental crutch, is going to have an erosion of critical thinking. Yeah, and we know, but all of us that came up, we know you have to struggle with that algebra question. You have to work hard and figure out wait a minute, I don't understand this part of the calculus question. You have to have that struggle. When you just get the answer spit out instantly, you start to lose that critical thinking layer. And so we have to understand, Yes, there are going to be benefits of AI tutors if they're pedagogically sound guardrail, they use a socratic method, they don't just spit out the answers. But there are so many, so many landmines that come with those roses.
00:09:41
Speaker 1: What in Hall author code read left right, China and the race to control AI. Your math illustration, I think is a sound one, but at least it's concrete two and two is always four when you add them together. There's no argument. There's no political bias built into a mathematical equation. There is with everything else. So you know this critical thinking component. You're just told, well three, distribution is a good thing. It's right, it's moral, and you don't break it down from an economic standpoint, like, for example, let me ask you this one haul. When everybody's on a universal basic income and receiving a paycheck from the government without doing anything, without adding to the tax base, what the hell happens when everybody's on the public doal? Isn't that system collapse? Whining because nobody's funding the payments anymore? I don't know how this ends up working in the final analysis.
00:10:27
Speaker 2: Well, it's even worse than that, Brian, You're absolutely right, it's even worse than that. First of all, the last literally just a handful of days ago, Elon Musk, richest man on the planet, said we're going to have quote universal high income u HI, and he doesn't really explain how that's supposed to work or how the checks exactly work. But it's way deeper than that. Okay, it's far deeper than that. We know that when you remove the Protestant work ethic that has powered the people's ability to get up and work and have structure and meaning and and purpose and identity in their lives, and we just say, oh, we're going to all sit around and live this leisure lifestyle and wait for the government to have our money. Number one, What what control will will come with that? What DEI requirement social credit score must I meet to get my my government checked from from dear leader who's supposed to drop me my money? If I if I, if I talk about you know, my faith or or or or or challenge a social edict that the left doesn't like, and there's a left leaning president, does that mean I'm not able to get my you know, my ration from the government monthly for for my you know, social credit because violation. The other thing, too, though, is that there's a what I call in Codrad the last chapter is on God, faith, reason, and what I call the coming crisis of meaning. If what's one of the first things that happens when we go to a party with our family or friends, we say, oh, what do you do for a living? Especially for young men, The studies are very clear. When a man doesn't have the ability to get have that structure, have that drive, get to be able to provide for their friends or family themselves, all manner of social pathologies increase. Addiction rates go through the roof. Self farm rates go through the roof. Crime rates go through the roof. With you are going to have people and say there's no reason to study hard because the AI is smarter. There's no reason to work hard because the AI is going to do the work. And there's no reason to actually have to provide for yourself or your family because you're going to get your mailbox money from the government. We are going to have a spiral of crisis of meaning unlike anything we've seen. So this is real. It is coming. And I was deeply concerned that the conservative movement is behind on this, not because we're not smart, because we're not in these rooms Silicon Valley, eighty five percent of all donations flow to Democrats. Okay, so we're not part of that conversation. And I wanted to get us caught up and realize how fast this is moving and what the game is going to be and how it is played.
00:12:56
Speaker 1: Well, remember, part of the cake that's been includes the idea that the work ethic in and of itself is a racist concept winting. That's right, evil white supremacist concept of actual working in return for the reward of problem contributing to society. Well, and finally, the propaganda element. One of my prior segment talking with tom'sa Austowski from We the People Convention mentioned that the Chinese Communist Party is behind this anti AI propaganda effort, which I suppose supports your argument about how important this is in terms of warfare.
00:13:32
Speaker 2: Yes, that is yes, that's exactly right. They do not want us to win because they understand the stakes. And so if you get there first and you have military dominance, that also means you're going to have economic dominance, and so they need to be able to chip away. This is what's so tricky. Two things hit me true at the same time. And Austin, are you know, A, there are all these dangers, these landmines, and b there are these essential roses, and this is why they a whole new policy matrix. And so that's why in the book, every chapter is on the ones on education next week. We haven't even gotten to talking about human relationships and AI girls. Oh I know, and chaplot right SI, but all of those things. So we have to be able to understand how to really shepherd our children and our grandkids through this very, very new world that we're all entering.
00:14:24
Speaker 1: Speaking of critical thinking, someone could be so taken with artificial intelligence and their AI girlfriend that they actually perceive they're talking with and interacting with a real human being and not a blanket set of ones and zeros when and it's frustrating.
