Speaker 1: I heard podcasts here more Mix one or two point three podcasts, playlists and listen live on the free iHeart app.
00:00:17
Speaker 2: Mix one oh two point three. Haley and Max in the morning. It's eleven past seven. Hey, there's a lot going on in the weather out there at the moment. Eleven degrees right now, showers, wind, but we've had some reports of a whole bunch of stuff happening.
00:00:27
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:00:28
Speaker 3: The Essay State Emergency Services has just posted about tornadoes and destructive winds in regions like the Barossa, Adelaide, Hills, Gaula, Playford and Mount Barker. And my friend who lives in Mount Barker just got a message saying seek shelter.
00:00:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, same sort of thing on the bomb they've got severe thunderstorm warnings that was just updated twenty minutes ago. Locally destructive winds possible around the Lofty Ranges and up in the Barossa tornadoes.
00:00:55
Speaker 4: We don't get tornadoes and Adelaide.
00:00:57
Speaker 5: Do we know?
00:00:58
Speaker 2: Can you just keep us updated? Adelage thirty one O two three is the number. Anything you see morson lakes, trees are down, street signs, damage in the weather, and bumper to bumper South Road Rinnello de Morphet Vale. So I reckon traffic's only going get worse.
00:01:09
Speaker 3: You know what, as a boss of a business, I would suggest that everyone stay home and.
00:01:13
Speaker 4: Don't drive today. Well you say that when it's sunny though.
00:01:16
Speaker 3: No, I know we do, but I'm being serious today.
00:01:18
Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, is an actual one.
00:01:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, stay home, don't. You can still work, but just don't get on the roads. It's too dangerous.
00:01:23
Speaker 2: There's been a lot going on with the weather.
00:01:25
Speaker 4: Hailey and Max's weather watch. Is that your Wizard of Oz Twister music.
00:01:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, when she's riding the bicycle through the through.
00:01:36
Speaker 4: The and the guys rode past in the canoe and they stop and look at her, you know the scene.
00:01:41
Speaker 3: And we're talking about this because this morning we've had like multiple messages from our friends that are because we can't see anything. We're in a studio with no windows and no air. That's another mixed problem. But we're from the outside world about what's going on.
00:01:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, we've had obviously the weather warnings. We've seen Ddri in north Haven one of our favorite calls on this show. She caught in and said that my bins down in north Haven have blown over before they were empty, So there's recycled all over the street because the was so great.
00:02:11
Speaker 3: Yeah, trees are down. There's a lot of weather warnings. But someone who knows way more than us is someone from Bomb.
00:02:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, the Buer of meteorolog Bureau of Meteorology say that one time bomb. Yeah, Daniel Sherwin Simpsons called in. Daniel, take you for your time, mate. What's going on out there? Is the world ending?
00:02:29
Speaker 3: Yeah?
00:02:30
Speaker 5: Look, it may feel like the world ending, and plenty of people's bins have ended up down the street, but it certainly started to ease. We saw kind of the heaviest wind gusts come through at around six to seven o'clock through the Adelaide area, but there's still a chance of seeing damaging winds through today. We did actually issue a severe thunderstorm warning with the possibility of tornadoes in the early morning based on some radar signatures we've seen and sort of path of destruction from some ses reports. It's not impossible that we did see some tornadoes roll through the NY suburbs.
00:03:05
Speaker 3: How tornadoes happen in Adelaide.
00:03:08
Speaker 5: It's a bit of a rare occurrence in Adelaide itself. It's not, you know, too unheard of. Throughout South Australia, we probably get a couple of tornadoes a year with reports, and then, to be honest, as you know, it's a fairly sparsely populated state, we could get even more unreported tornado. So it's not unheard of, but through the Adelaide area it's certainly very.
00:03:28
Speaker 3: Rang Do you chase these storms, like Helen Hunt? Are you in a little car riding driving around Adelaide trying to chase them?
00:03:33
Speaker 5: Storm jama No, I think I'm very glad I was in the office this morning, although the windows were rattling quite a bit when those gusts came through.
00:03:41
Speaker 1: So yeah, if you are out north and you have said anything that even slightly resembled a tornado, we.
00:03:46
Speaker 4: Would love to hear from you.
00:03:47
Speaker 1: Thurtay one O two three Daniel, What can we expect from here on in?
00:03:52
Speaker 4: Is the is the worst of the wind gone? Or are we all going to have a pretty miserable day anyway?
00:03:57
Speaker 5: Look, it's probably going to be a pretty windy and miserable date anyway. Actually, right now the sun's out in Adelaide As. Probably people are aware, but you know, it could be short lived. We're still expecting shower to continue through the day and windy conditions to continue still, as I mentioned that severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled, but definitely keep a watch on any sees or bomb warnings coming out through today, just for updates on the damaging wind warning with possibly locally destructive win. So damaging win just to clear things up, is in excess of ninety kilometers an hour. We've seen plenty of those recorded. The highest gust we've seen recorded so far was around six am or so at Outer Harbor the tide gauge they're picked up in one hundred and six kilometer.
00:04:42
Speaker 3: Wow, that is fast. So am I reading between the lines. And you're suggesting that people should stay home today.
00:04:49
Speaker 5: Look, that's probably not my job to tell you to do that, but yeah, it's certainly going to be windy out there. I certainly will be going outside as little as possible.
00:04:58
Speaker 1: An unofficial endorsement from Daniel from the Bomb I reckon sicky today and I'm going to take that on board. I think same, Daniel, Thank you. Can you just tell me finally, tomorrow is the weekend? We would love it to not be so windy, and there's a lot of footy finals going on, and it's going to be a little bit nicer for the show as well.
00:05:15
Speaker 5: Luckily, with this system, it's a very fast moving system. That's part of the reason why there's so much wind. But realistically, for the Adelaide area, things will pretty much be all said and done by the time we get to midnight, so things will settle down quite a bit for Saturday. For the start of the show, we could only see a light coastal shower in the morning, but it's probably going to be mostly dry through the afternoon tomorrow.
00:05:35
Speaker 3: Thanks so much, Helen.
00:05:37
Speaker 4: That's good Helen, Helen.
00:05:39
Speaker 1: Daniel Sherwin Simpson from the Bomb appreciate your time mate here.
00:05:42
