Anxious about entering back into the world as pandemic restrictions are lifted? Concerned about the deep divides that we’ve seen emerge through the crisis that was 2020? Riaz Patel is a voice of reason in a divided world, and he has dedicated himself to bringing people together — even those who seem to be polar opposites. Riaz shares the 4 steps of a productive conversation, the lengths he goes to educate himself about other points of view, and personal experiences of being on the receiving end of ignorance and hate. He talks about listening, how he has dealt with prejudice, feeling other, the divisive nature of social media algorithms, how aspects of his being are always central to presidential elections, and how if you truly know and understand someone, it is very hard to hate them. Also, using our voices, the gifts of open and closed doors, and the best way to move forward in this new world with an intention to build connections. Riaz Patel is this week’s beautiful guest on Another Door Opens with Stephanie Himango.
