Self-Talk

This is My Exodus

Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” - Exodus 4:12

Exodus 4:12 contains valuable lessons and guidance that we can apply to our lives. Here are some key teachings we can glean from this verse:

1. Trust in Divine Guidance: The verse reminds us to trust that God will provide us with the words to speak when we face challenges or uncertainties. It teaches us to rely on divine guidance and not solely on our own abilities.
2. Overcome Self-Doubt: Moses initially expressed self-doubt about his speaking abilities, but God reassured him. We can learn to overcome our own self-doubt and limitations by placing our trust in God's plan for us.
3. Embrace God's Purpose: God's promise to provide the words to speak was tied to a specific purpose: leading the Israelites out of Egypt. We can learn to discern and embrace God's purpose for our lives and recognize that He equips us for the tasks He calls us to.
4. Positive Self-Image: Moses was encouraged to think well of himself and have confidence in his abilities as a leader. We can learn the importance of maintaining a positive self-image and acknowledging our unique qualities and strengths.
5. Effective Communication: Effective communication is a valuable skill. Moses learned that trusting in God's guidance can lead to better communication and persuasive speech.
6. Faith in God's Presence: This verse underscores the importance of faith in God's presence and assistance in our lives. It teaches us to rely on Him in all situations, especially when faced with challenges.
7. Overcoming Obstacles: Moses faced the obstacle of his own self-perceived inadequacies. We can learn to overcome obstacles and challenges in our lives with faith and trust in God's provision.
8. God's Faithfulness: God's promise to Moses highlights His faithfulness and commitment to His chosen servants. We can learn to trust in God's faithfulness to fulfill His promises in our own lives.
9. Humility: Moses' initial self-doubt and hesitation show humility. We can learn the value of humility in recognizing our dependence on God and our need for His guidance.
10. Listening to God: This verse encourages us to listen to God's guidance and direction in our lives, not relying solely on our own understanding.
11. Empowerment: God's assurance to Moses empowers him to take on a challenging task. We can learn that God's encouragement and support empower us to face difficult situations with confidence.
12. Courage: Moses needed courage to confront Pharaoh and lead the Israelites. We can learn the importance of courage in fulfilling God's calling, knowing that He will provide what is needed.

Incorporating these lessons from Exodus 4:12 into our lives can help us trust in God's guidance, overcome self-doubt, and embrace our unique purpose with confidence and humility.

All Prayed Up:

Heavenly Father,

We come before you with hearts filled with gratitude and trust. Just as you assured Moses that you would give him the words to speak, we, too, believe in your promise to guide our words and thoughts.

Help us, Lord, to think well of ourselves, recognizing that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in your image. Teach us to embrace our unique qualities and abilities, understanding that you have equipped us for the tasks you set before us.

Grant us the wisdom to speak words of kindness and encouragement, both to ourselves and to others. May our words be a reflection of your love and grace.

When doubt and insecurity try to take root in our hearts, remind us, Lord, that you are with us always, empowering us to overcome our limitations. May we find our confidence in you and speak with the assurance that your Spirit dwells within us.

In your holy name, we pray.

Amen.
