SELLEST OSAST
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the relentless stream of information and the constant “fracking” of your attention by social media platforms?
In this episode, we dive into a crucial conversation with Mark Vincent about Digital Discipleship, exploring how our ‘focus ‘attention’ has become a commodified resource that can lead to a form of “spiritual slavery” if left unchecked.
Rather than calling for a total retreat from modern technology, this discussion provides a balanced, ethical framework for navigating the digital age, touching on everything from the impact of AI on Bible study to the mental health challenges of the “religion of self” found in curated social feeds.
Join us as we explore how to cultivate a contemplative, Christ-centered mind in a world designed to keep you distracted, offering practical strategies for parenting, managing digital harms, and reclaiming your time for spiritual growth.
Mark Vincent lives in Combrook in the UK and is a member of the Christadelphian Church or ecclesia at Lapworth. Mark is the editor of The Christadelphian Magazine and has just published a very timely publication entitled “Digital Discipleship”.
The book jacket reads as follows:
We live in an era of unprecedented technological capability, but one which easily results in spiritual distraction. Digital Discipleship offers a refreshing and positive roadmap for tackling the challenges technology can present as we strive to live out Bible truth in the age of AI and infinite scroll. This book is an encouragement to engage with the digital world wisely and intentionally, being alert to the dangers, influences and distractions. Whether you are a digital native or still finding your way online, these pages aim to help resist some of the pressures and misdirection, increasing the joy of embodied faith and the power of a life rooted in God’s unchanging Word
