Andrea Yates and Lindsay Clancy are often compared because both were nurses, mothers of young children, and experienced severe postpartum mental health struggles before killing their children. But how similar are these tragic cases? In this episode of True Crime Squad, we compare their backgrounds, mental health histories, psychiatric treatment, warning signs, and the events leading up to the deaths of their children.
We'll also examine Andrea Yates' documented religious delusions, the influence of preacher Michael Woroniecki, Lindsay Clancy's reported command hallucinations, and the competing arguments presented by the prosecution and defense. Finally, we'll explore why Andrea was found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and why Lindsay Clancy's case raises a very different legal question.
