Alongside Dianne Gribble, McPhee founded the feminist independent publisher McPhee Gribble in 1975, nurturing a new generation of Australian writers.
From Cloudstreet to Puberty Blues, Helen Garner to Kaz Cooke, McPhee championed the local, the unexpected and the often overlooked.
