WEBVTT
00:00:00.320 -->
00:00:04.080That lack of gravity was awesome.
00:00:05.759 -->
00:00:09.279Oh yeah, watching you float around.
00:00:09.279 -->
00:00:11.039That was really weird.
00:00:11.039 -->
00:00:13.919Seven seconds of weird.
00:00:14.640 -->
00:00:15.119Yep.
00:00:15.119 -->
00:00:17.120It's a shame it didn't happen.
00:00:17.440 -->
00:00:19.280Yeah, I think the truth.
00:00:19.280 -->
00:00:21.839Welcome to the ugly quacking duck.
00:00:21.839 -->
00:00:27.760We like to joke that we're the worst podcast in the unknown universe, but we're pretty sure that's just our charm.

00:00:41.439 -->
00:00:42.880Thanks for stopping by.
00:00:43.280 -->
00:00:47.200Hey, hey, hey! Off to recording we go.
00:00:47.200 -->
00:01:00.240Hello everyone, this is Brugly Quacking Duck Podcast, and I'm here with Sunny, and we are glad to have you aboard.
00:01:00.240 -->
00:01:13.680We are recording the episode today, episode 156, and we are glad you're aboard with us, and we hope you stick around for the whole episode.
00:01:13.920 -->
00:01:19.040Yeah, we are recording in our Midwest studio, the hidden studio.
00:01:19.280 -->
00:01:20.799The secret studio.
00:01:21.280 -->
00:01:25.280The all-time no-tell and wear studio.
00:01:26.079 -->
00:01:40.480So if you're here no matter what time it is, no matter what day it is, no matter where you're from, you are with us here with the ugly quacking duck podcast.
00:01:41.599 -->
00:01:42.719I guess.
00:01:42.719 -->
00:01:45.920Thank you for being here.
00:01:46.400 -->
00:01:47.040All right.
00:01:47.040 -->
00:01:49.200Uh that was a lot, Sunny.
00:01:49.439 -->
00:01:51.359It is, but we have fun.
00:01:51.680 -->
00:01:52.640Yes, we do.
00:01:52.640 -->
00:01:56.239So again, this is episode 156.
00:01:56.239 -->
00:01:58.879Uh, it is August the 13th.
00:01:58.879 -->
00:02:06.400We're recording this as much as we can get done today, and then we may have to finish up in the morning before we head out.
00:02:06.400 -->
00:02:07.840We're taking a trip.
00:02:08.080 -->
00:02:12.000Yeah, and Bruce is leaving me behind.
00:02:12.000 -->
00:02:13.759Guys, do you believe that?
00:02:13.759 -->
00:02:16.080He's leaving me behind.
00:02:16.879 -->
00:02:18.560Uh no.
00:02:20.319 -->
00:02:20.960Yeah.
00:02:20.960 -->
00:02:23.439He's gonna lock me up.
00:02:24.639 -->
00:02:27.360As if we could lock you up.
00:02:27.599 -->
00:02:29.039Well, there's that.
00:02:29.439 -->
00:02:32.639But yeah, we are not taking him on our trip.
00:02:32.639 -->
00:02:34.159Sorry.
00:02:34.800 -->
00:02:35.759That's alright.
00:02:35.759 -->
00:02:38.639I'll tear the house up while you're gone.
00:02:38.960 -->
00:02:40.719No, don't you dare.
00:02:41.039 -->
00:02:42.080No, I won't.
00:02:42.080 -->
00:02:43.199I'll wash it.
00:02:43.199 -->
00:02:50.400You and have it in good good good hands.
00:02:51.680 -->
00:02:52.639Alright.
00:02:52.639 -->
00:03:06.000So anyway, we're gonna finish this up today or tomorrow, but uh, we wanted to try to do a little bit of it today because today is uh after the 12th, and the 12th there was a lot of things happening.
00:03:06.000 -->
00:03:08.000So let's talk about those.
00:03:08.000 -->
00:03:16.080So the first thing we need to talk about is no gravity.
00:03:16.080 -->
00:03:34.879Yeah, no gravity was a thing that was supposed to take place yesterday on August the 12th for seven seconds, was the theory or the uh I don't know what you want to call it, but it was supposed to take place yesterday.
00:03:34.879 -->
00:03:37.840Uh there was different times quoted.
00:03:37.840 -->
00:03:44.240Uh 1430 is what I heard, UTC time, which a lot of people missed that.
00:03:44.240 -->
00:03:47.759They was looking for
2:30 in the afternoon, all kinds of weird stuff.
00:03:47.759 -->
00:03:55.680But anyway, it was a theory or a lie or a conspiracy that got started.
00:03:55.680 -->
00:04:04.879Um apparently somebody had said that NASA knew this was going to happen and they had a paper on it, and blah, blah, blah.
00:04:04.879 -->
00:04:12.479Nobody had ever come up with that paper or that proof, but you know how gossip goes.
00:04:12.479 -->
00:04:20.959So everybody was waiting for this seven seconds of uh mayhem to happen.
00:04:20.959 -->
00:04:30.079Basically, nobody was gonna have gravity for them seven seconds, which meant that everybody was gonna float off.
00:04:30.079 -->
00:04:36.399Trucks and cars was gonna flow off, float off, buildings was gonna float off.
00:04:36.720 -->
00:04:41.759Yeah, we was gonna go wee and just keep on going.
00:04:42.480 -->
00:04:49.759Yeah, and if the truth be known, if that would have took place, let's take a minute to think about it.
00:04:49.759 -->
00:05:21.600According to what I have learned and my very seldom paid attention to years at school, that the atmosphere holds in uh the oxygen, and the atmosphere is uh held by uh gravity, maybe, and that for anything in under the atmosphere, like oxygen us, was held in by gravity.
00:05:21.600 -->
00:05:52.079So they were predicting that the gravity for seven seconds was gonna disappear because of a couple black holes, it was gonna cause everybody to float away, and that meant that the atmosphere would probably float away, and the oxygen would probably float away, and everything in this earth that we were used to would float away, and we would have a life that floated away.
00:05:52.800 -->
00:05:55.120All right, Bruce, you got your point.
00:05:55.120 -->
00:06:01.920You know we all understood it was just going to float away.
00:06:03.120 -->
00:06:05.600Yeah, all right, thank you, Sunny.
00:06:05.600 -->
00:06:09.120Well, anyway, um I was really looking forward to it.
00:06:09.120 -->
00:06:11.120I had some chains ready.
00:06:11.120 -->
00:06:22.720I had a big concrete uh drilled hole with uh a steel rod down in it, and I was gonna concrete myself to that chain, and no, not really.
00:06:22.720 -->
00:06:26.800I was just gonna wait it out, buddy.
00:06:26.800 -->
00:06:38.800I I expected if it was gonna be that bad for seven seconds, I was gonna fly, and then I was just gonna pray I hit ground somewhere soft.
00:06:38.800 -->
00:06:44.800But I really didn't expect anything to happen, and of course, what happened?
00:06:45.279 -->
00:06:52.079Nothing, not one red thing, blue thing, green thing, nothing.
00:06:52.560 -->
00:06:54.879You got that right, Sunny, thank you for that.
00:06:54.879 -->
00:07:02.560But anyway, I thought it'd be great to talk about because you know, we didn't have it happen.
00:07:03.360 -->
00:07:10.319You like you like them conspiracies and when they go awry, don't ya?
00:07:11.040 -->
00:07:14.959Oh, date setters have always been around.
00:07:14.959 -->
00:07:29.519I mean, every now and then they'll get something right and we'll see a some kind of catastrophe happen, and it wasn't because they got it right, it was just because it was gonna happen, and they just guessed it right.
00:07:29.519 -->
00:07:40.560But uh there's gonna be times when we have things like that, and uh, you know, we're just gonna have to face it, but this wasn't one of them.
00:07:42.399 -->
00:07:46.319All right, let's don't drive that to the ground anymore.
00:07:46.319 -->
00:07:50.480Tell us what else was going on this week.
00:07:50.879 -->
00:07:52.160That's the good part.
00:07:52.160 -->
00:07:53.040All right.
00:07:53.040 -->
00:07:57.360Anti-gravity or no gravity was a flop.
00:07:57.360 -->
00:08:03.360It was just a conspiracy that went nowhere besides in the trash can.
00:08:03.360 -->
00:08:04.879File 13.
00:08:04.879 -->
00:08:05.600Klunk.
00:08:05.600 -->
00:08:12.879But we did have a couple things that have happened and are still happening.
00:08:12.879 -->
00:08:17.279One was a solar eclipse, a full solar eclipse.
00:08:17.279 -->
00:08:21.439If you lived in, I believe uh one of the countries was Spain.
00:08:21.439 -->
00:08:34.879Here in the United States, we didn't get to see a full eclipse unless you watched it on the internet, and there was a couple news outlets that had it live.
00:08:34.879 -->
00:08:51.360I think ABC was the one I watched, and then there was a few uh non-professional, I'll call it that, people that had caught it with video and put it on the internet, and uh it was pretty spectacular.
00:08:51.360 -->
00:09:05.039Uh the one I got to watch was a sunset, and you could see it getting red, and then it got darker and redder and darker, and it was beautiful.
00:09:05.039 -->
00:09:12.240I mean, I was glad I got to see that, even though it was wasn't in person, I got to see it.
00:09:12.240 -->
00:09:14.480So, yeah, that happened.
00:09:14.480 -->
00:09:25.919Uh, we had a couple here in the United States in the last several years, uh, but this one we don't it don't belong to us, but we got to watch it anyway.
00:09:25.919 -->
00:09:31.840So, thank you folks for putting that on the internet and allowing us to be part of that.
00:09:31.840 -->
00:09:43.279Uh, that used to mark significant dates for people in history, so um some of them wasn't that good.
00:09:43.279 -->
00:09:50.000So I don't know what this set of solar eclipses was going to mark.
00:09:50.000 -->
00:09:52.320I guess time will tell.
00:09:52.320 -->
00:09:54.240But we got to see it.
00:09:54.240 -->
00:09:55.360So we were there.
00:09:55.360 -->
00:09:57.840We were part of history, folks.
00:09:58.480 -->
00:10:02.480Yay! It's kind of nice being part of history.
00:10:02.480 -->
00:10:09.519Maybe one of these days we're gonna look in the history book and we won't be there.
00:10:09.840 -->
00:10:10.480You're right.
00:10:10.480 -->
00:10:22.879We won't we don't add up enough clout to even be uh punctuation mark in the history, but we are still here, so that's worth a lot.
00:10:22.879 -->
00:10:25.120And you ask what else?
00:10:25.120 -->
00:10:27.840What else was we talking about?
00:10:28.320 -->
00:10:29.200I heard 'em.
00:10:29.200 -->
00:10:32.720They asked for I heard 'em real loud.
00:10:32.720 -->
00:10:36.799They said, Bruce, what else happened?
00:10:37.519 -->
00:10:47.840Well, as we are recording, uh this is the thirteenth, so this is one of the peak days for the meteor shower.
00:10:47.840 -->
00:10:52.080And I'm gonna try to pronounce this correctly.
00:10:52.080 -->
00:11:06.240It's Persides Meteor Shower, which is uh all the way up to August the 24th, but it peaks on 12 and 13th of August.
00:11:06.240 -->
00:11:19.120So last night and today, and so probably by the time you hear this episode, it will done gone past and we'll be going towards the end of the shower.
00:11:19.120 -->
00:11:29.039But it is a good shower, it's been really good so far, and uh that is one of the things that's really happening.
00:11:29.360 -->
00:11:31.840It's really happening, really, really, really.
00:11:32.320 -->
00:11:34.080Yeah, it's really happening.
00:11:34.080 -->
00:12:02.480We are having meteors come down, so we can see them light up the sky, and if you're one of those that uh doesn't have you know good weather and you can't see those or you you don't want to get out, if you've got a way to put up a six-meter uh receiver, and you can use a short wave, whatever, uh, and hook it up to a good antenna.
00:12:02.480 -->
00:12:16.799I used to, I haven't done it in a year or so, uh, point uh at um the sky towards uh a direction that there was a common TV station.
00:12:16.799 -->
00:12:18.720Most of them are digital now.
00:12:18.720 -->
00:12:32.080And when that meteor would burn, it would uh reflect that TV station, and you would hear a ping on your receiver.
00:12:32.080 -->
00:12:43.679I usually used upper sideband on six meters, and it was really not six meters, it was just a little bit above there where the TV band was.
00:12:43.679 -->
00:12:46.240And I don't remember the frequencies now.
00:12:46.240 -->
00:13:15.120Like I said, it's been a a little over a year since I've done that, but there's been a lot of times, especially in the winter, when I couldn't get out or the weather didn't allow it, or you know, I whatever, or during the day when uh you didn't you couldn't see them, I would let that thing run and it would burn uh when there would be a meteor go over, and I would know one went over.
00:13:15.120 -->
00:13:18.799Uh there's also a website I think that still does that.
00:13:18.799 -->
00:13:30.240So if you uh look uh for uh to listen to the meteors, um you should be able to find that and watch it or listen to it, I should say.
00:13:30.240 -->
00:13:32.320But that's kind of another hobby.
00:13:32.320 -->
00:13:37.919But anyway, it's happening and it's gonna happen up until the 24th.
00:13:37.919 -->
00:13:40.639It'll probably uh trail off.
00:13:40.639 -->
00:13:42.240It usually does.
00:13:42.240 -->
00:13:53.519The last couple days you probably won't have any or maybe very few show up, but when it peaks, uh today it's gonna be awesome.
00:13:53.519 -->
00:14:00.639So I hope everybody gets a chance sometime this weekend to listen and look.
00:14:00.639 -->
00:14:03.360But there you go, that one's happening.
00:14:03.600 -->
00:14:05.279Yeah, meteors are cool.
00:14:05.279 -->
00:14:09.360We like to watch them, they're all the time coming down.
00:14:09.840 -->
00:14:10.879Yeah, they are.
00:14:10.879 -->
00:14:12.240Uh all the time.
00:14:12.240 -->
00:14:15.600But anyhow, that's what's happening this week.
00:14:15.600 -->
00:14:26.000And one of the things that makes this really stick out was the fact that yesterday was a new moon.
00:14:26.000 -->
00:14:41.360So what that means is the moon's dark, it's not giving its light out at that time, so we have a dark sky, and those meteors will show up so much better.
00:14:41.360 -->
00:14:52.399And on top of that, yesterday morning, uh pre-dawn sky would host a very spectacular parade.
00:14:52.399 -->
00:14:55.919The it's the sixth planet parade is what they're calling it.
00:14:55.919 -->
00:15:11.600Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, and Saturn, and Neptune will appear stretched across the sky along with the elliptic, creating the illusion of a gigantic planetary alignment.
00:15:11.600 -->
00:15:15.039And I missed that, so I can't tell you what it looked like.
00:15:15.039 -->
00:15:24.080And I looked online to find somebody that had captured it and put it on the internet, and I couldn't find it.
00:15:24.080 -->
00:15:27.360So if they're out there, man, let me know.
00:15:27.360 -->
00:15:29.039I want to see it.
00:15:29.039 -->
00:15:31.840But anyway, that was supposed to take place.
00:15:31.840 -->
00:15:36.000Uh, and I did not make it up early enough to check it out.
00:15:36.000 -->
00:15:38.879Uh, that would have been very, very cool.
00:15:38.879 -->
00:15:45.600Plus, my location here is not very advantageous for that kind of thing.
00:15:45.600 -->
00:15:57.600In fact, we got a lot of trees around, and it really blocks most of our uh sightseeing, sky viewing, however you want to put that.
00:15:57.600 -->
00:16:02.399Every now and then we will catch Musk's Starlink.
00:16:02.399 -->
00:16:06.559Uh it'll fly over and we'll get to see that string of lights.
00:16:06.559 -->
00:16:09.360Um we're we're not even gonna talk about that.
00:16:09.360 -->
00:16:30.639But anyhow, uh we do have a a uh a window up there, uh not a very big one, but s small large enough, I should say, that we can get satellites going over and uh every now and then the mirror space not the mirror that really dated me.
00:16:30.639 -->
00:16:36.960I talked to the mirror one time, actually more than once on the ham radio, but the ISS.
00:16:36.960 -->
00:16:44.320Every now and then we'll get to see it go over, but anyhow there we go.
00:16:45.200 -->
00:16:48.320Well, Bruce, we know you're old.
00:16:48.320 -->
00:16:53.120Um, you actually talked to the mirror when it was still up there, didn't you?
00:16:53.519 -->
00:17:40.079I did, and I have a tape somewhere, I don't know where it's at, we've moved a couple times since then, where I had a satellite dish pointed up to one of those uh satellites, and I was uh talking to the mirror at that time, and they were sending down um a kind of a tour, a guided tour inside that thing, and I'll tell you what, yeah, I've seen movies since then where they depicted what it would look like in you know a horror type situation, a scary movie, and uh it looked a lot like that, man.
00:17:40.079 -->
00:17:49.279That guy was running around up there by himself, not me, but anyhow, uh yeah, that was uh back in the day when things were different.
00:17:49.279 -->
00:17:51.680Um not anymore.
00:17:51.680 -->
00:17:54.160So, anyway, it's been a good week.
00:17:54.160 -->
00:18:05.839We've had a lot of neat stuff happening, and hopefully, when you listen to this episode, you're gonna go, yeah, I caught that, or I caught this, and uh man, I wish I'd caught that.
00:18:05.839 -->
00:18:14.079You know, something will click and you'll be able to remember something that happened this week.
00:18:14.400 -->
00:18:19.279Well, most of the people, Bruce, is probably asleep or working.
00:18:19.279 -->
00:18:24.960You know, a lot of people have to go to work, come home, go to work, come home.
00:18:24.960 -->
00:18:29.920They sleep in there sometimes, but you know, that's our life.
00:18:30.240 -->
00:18:31.279Yeah, you're right.
00:18:31.279 -->
00:18:41.519Uh that's a lot of people's lives, and I can't forget that because I have done that in the past and still do that to a certain extent.
00:18:41.519 -->
00:18:44.000I got a few extra days off now.
00:18:44.000 -->
00:18:47.519Anyway, that's what's been going on so far.
00:18:47.519 -->
00:18:55.599Hopefully, you've had a pretty good week, and when you hear this, you'll be able to say, yeah, that was a good week.
00:18:55.599 -->
00:19:15.839Well, to throw a little bit of extra drama in there, I guess I could say, um, I'm working on a plastic table, you know, the type that's uh what is it, about six foot long, maybe not quite that long, but it's pretty good size.
00:19:15.839 -->
00:19:19.599And it's got the foldable legs, you know, that fold up underneath it.
00:19:19.599 -->
00:19:22.000And I'm using that now.
00:19:22.000 -->
00:19:33.200My other desk on the other side of the on the back side of this one is a a wooden one that you stand at, and it's got my other computer and my radio stuff there.
00:19:33.200 -->
00:19:42.720Anyhow, what I was talking about is I've used a boom arm attached to that plastic table for a long time.
00:19:42.720 -->
00:19:46.880I actually got a new one to put on there and I took the other one off.
00:19:46.880 -->
00:19:47.839Long story.
00:19:47.839 -->
00:19:58.160But anyway, the other day I noticed that boom arm was wobbling and uh it was getting quite uh wobbly to be exact.
00:19:58.160 -->
00:20:07.759So when I got done recording last week, I took that arm off and looked at it, and it had cracked the table.
00:20:07.759 -->
00:20:19.920Now I clamped it on the middle of that side where there was a a thicker piece of plastic uh in the middle uh for an anchor.
00:20:19.920 -->
00:20:27.920And I clamped it there, but apparently it broke that and it was getting really wobbly, so I had to take it off.
00:20:27.920 -->
00:20:35.200So I've been debating on getting another uh table like the other one that I can raise up or lower.
00:20:35.200 -->
00:20:45.119Uh I can find a pretty inexpensive one, about the same size as this plastic, and put my equipment on it for recording.
00:20:45.119 -->
00:20:50.400That way I could stand up or uh I could set at the table, either way.
00:20:50.400 -->
00:20:58.480Um but I luckily had an old stand with an arm on it.
00:20:58.480 -->
00:21:00.480Um I don't remember what they call this.
00:21:00.480 -->
00:21:09.440I got this one at Radio Shack years ago, but it stands up and it if you extend it out, it's probably about six foot tall.
00:21:09.440 -->
00:21:18.880And then it's got a four-foot probably arm that comes over, and um, I set it next to the table and brought it over.
00:21:18.880 -->
00:21:24.960So my microphone's at a different angle, and I don't know how well it's gonna record.
00:21:24.960 -->
00:21:36.000It looks like I'm hitting about the same amount, uh, maybe a little bit higher at some times, because I'm not able to move it back and forth like I used to on the other one.
00:21:36.000 -->
00:21:41.680Uh, but I didn't want to have that thing bouncing around and collapse my table, you know?
00:21:41.680 -->
00:21:43.519It's got a lot of stuff on it.
00:21:43.519 -->
00:21:51.519I don't Anyway, I thought I'd tell you guys that give you a little bit of wow, man, or not.
00:21:52.000 -->
00:21:54.640Wow, man, or not.
00:21:54.640 -->
00:21:55.440That's right.
00:21:55.440 -->
00:21:56.960Nobody wants to.
00:21:57.839 -->
00:22:04.559Anyway, uh Yeah, it got kind of crazy the last end of the last recording episode.
00:22:04.559 -->
00:22:08.319So yeah, I've kind of set it up.
00:22:08.319 -->
00:22:13.039It's working fine now, and that table seems pretty solid.
00:22:13.039 -->
00:22:29.759Uh, I never dreamed that that clamp um sitting there, you know, pushing on that the whole time with that arm way out, because I pull it out next to my mouth, uh, would put that much weight on that and it would finally crack that.
00:22:29.759 -->
00:22:36.559I could get some epoxy and probably glue up and let it set, and it'll probably be solid again.
00:22:36.559 -->
00:22:48.880Maybe not as solid, but I didn't want to put it on the other side because when I seen what that did, I thought, well, it's going to do the same thing over there, so I just forego that whole thing.
00:22:48.880 -->
00:22:52.160Anyway, that's what we got going on from last week.
00:22:52.160 -->
00:22:53.039Boohoo!
00:22:54.480 -->
00:22:56.400Oh, it'll be all right, Bruce.
00:22:56.400 -->
00:23:00.000We can stick a stand in the middle of the table.
00:23:00.000 -->
00:23:02.079You can record that way.
00:23:02.079 -->
00:23:04.720It don't have to be perfect.
00:23:05.039 -->
00:23:05.920You're right.
00:23:05.920 -->
00:23:15.200It doesn't have to be, but when you have to change something after you've been doing it for so long, it's kind of rough, you know?
00:23:15.200 -->
00:23:17.359I hope you guys don't mind.
00:23:17.359 -->
00:23:30.079You know, Sunny, there is one thing that also took place at the end of the the week that we didn't talk about and we should bring up.
00:23:30.799 -->
00:23:32.079What's that, Bruce?
00:23:32.079 -->
00:23:35.519Uh the fact that you gotta go to work again?
00:23:36.400 -->
00:23:37.839Well, there's that too.
00:23:37.839 -->
00:23:46.880But no, school has started officially for almost everybody, especially here in the Midwest.
00:23:46.880 -->
00:23:52.079Um, there's been a few days during the week that they had to go back.
00:23:52.079 -->
00:24:02.559Some people went back Thursday, um, just different times, but this was the week that a lot of kids look forward to.
00:24:02.559 -->
00:24:08.559A lot of other ones dreaded that school started back.
00:24:08.559 -->
00:24:09.440Yep.
00:24:09.440 -->
00:24:11.759August is that time of year.
00:24:12.079 -->
00:24:13.680Oh, you know what that means?
00:24:13.680 -->
00:24:22.960That means the parents had to go out and spend a whole bunch of money getting everything prepared.
00:24:23.279 -->
00:24:24.960You are absolutely right.
00:24:24.960 -->
00:24:40.160This is that week where uh they've officially said, oh, I gotta get this before, oh, I gotta get that, oh, and then they gotta pay the you know school bills and the books and all that fun stuff.
00:24:40.160 -->
00:24:40.960Yeah.
00:24:40.960 -->
00:24:44.799So that's where that week took us.
00:24:44.799 -->
00:24:52.160And on top of all that, it's been a very humid, hot week.
00:24:52.160 -->
00:24:54.240Um, yeah.
00:24:54.240 -->
00:25:10.640I think it was uh now we've transformed this recording from Wednesday and Thursday up until right now it's Monday morning, August the 17th.
00:25:10.640 -->
00:25:29.279So we went on the weekend to 102 degrees here at my location, and luckily I was inside work most of that time, so uh the heat wasn't real bad, but it was it was warm.
00:25:29.599 -->
00:25:40.240Oh, it was not just only warm, it was humid, like you just stepped out of a shower, and yuck, yeah.
00:25:40.240 -->
00:25:42.720Everybody was complaining.
00:25:43.039 -->
00:25:46.799Yeah, and that's just part of August, man.
00:25:46.799 -->
00:25:52.240It happens every year, and we all uh that's the way we feel.
00:25:52.240 -->
00:25:56.400But we're gonna get through it, it's gonna get better.
00:25:56.400 -->
00:25:58.799Uh we got fall coming.
00:25:58.799 -->
00:26:07.039Uh, and last night, which was a Sunday night, it came a thunderstorm.
00:26:07.039 -->
00:26:12.000A lot of thunder, a lot of lightning, uh a little bit of rain.
00:26:12.000 -->
00:26:13.839It was a rough one.
00:26:13.839 -->
00:26:20.000And they are predicting during the week we're going to get some more thunderstorms.
00:26:20.000 -->
00:26:21.599So we'll see what happens.
00:26:21.599 -->
00:26:28.000We'll see if that drives the humidity up more or if it cools things down a little bit.
00:26:28.000 -->
00:26:36.799And by the time you are listening to this, hopefully it's settled down a little bit, and we can see what's happening.
00:26:36.799 -->
00:26:39.039But hang in there, guys.
00:26:39.039 -->
00:26:42.880Don't uh let it get to you.
00:26:42.880 -->
00:26:50.160The heat's rough, it causes a lot of tempers to flare, uh, it gets very aggravating.
00:26:50.160 -->
00:26:51.440Hang in there.
00:26:51.440 -->
00:26:52.559We're gonna make it.
00:26:52.559 -->
00:26:56.559It's gonna be shortly, and we're gonna see it cool down.
00:26:56.880 -->
00:26:58.799Is that a guarantee, Bruce?
00:26:58.799 -->
00:27:06.480Because you know, when you're suffering through that heat, you don't feel like it's gonna change.
00:27:07.440 -->
00:27:08.720Yeah, that's true.
00:27:08.720 -->
00:27:09.680But it's going to.
00:27:09.680 -->
00:27:14.319Hang in there! Well, let's cover the local weather for today.
00:27:14.319 -->
00:27:20.799Like I said, last week has been terribly humid and hot, been pretty rough.
00:27:20.799 -->
00:27:23.279Uh, we didn't have much rain come through.
00:27:23.279 -->
00:27:26.559Uh, there was supposed to be, and some areas got it.
00:27:26.559 -->
00:27:32.319I know Missouri was getting hammered over the weekend, and we didn't get anything.
00:27:32.319 -->
00:27:33.599Kind of weird.
00:27:33.599 -->
00:27:47.519But right now, in my location, it's 91 degrees, and that uh reading is from a sensor that's out in the sun in the morning.
00:27:47.519 -->
00:27:55.200Now, in the afternoon, it's in the shade, but so it raises up a little bit higher in the mornings.
00:27:55.200 -->
00:28:04.559Uh, the local weather from Mount Vernon, which is not very far away, shows it's 78 degrees right now.
00:28:04.559 -->
00:28:08.079So there's a slight difference.
00:28:08.079 -->
00:28:13.279But like I said, it got up to 102 uh this weekend, this Sunday.
00:28:13.279 -->
00:28:15.279It was pretty miserable.
00:28:15.599 -->
00:28:16.48078?
00:28:16.480 -->
00:28:19.680Man, that's a big difference from Sunday.
00:28:20.000 -->
00:28:20.720Yes, sir.
00:28:20.720 -->
00:28:23.279Let's hope the rest of the week goes that well.
00:28:23.279 -->
00:28:27.839Uh tune in and we'll see what happens in real life.
00:28:27.839 -->
00:28:28.880There you go.
00:28:28.880 -->
00:28:33.200So pick a city and I'll bring it up.
00:28:33.440 -->
00:28:34.480All right, Bruce.
00:28:34.480 -->
00:28:42.640I'm gonna pick Spokane, Washington, because that's where some of our listeners are, and they've requested it.
00:28:42.640 -->
00:28:44.400All right, I got it pulled up.
00:28:44.400 -->
00:28:46.400All right, there you go.
00:28:46.400 -->
00:28:56.160I believe the fire situation's under control in Spokane, Washington today, which is a good thing.
00:28:56.160 -->
00:29:02.319They are at 69 degrees right now, which is awesome.
00:29:02.319 -->
00:29:05.599It's sunny and it's nice.
00:29:05.599 -->
00:29:29.200The humidity's at 49%, the uh wind is coming out of the northeast at 4 miles an hour, their air quality is 81, which is moderate, the UV index is 2, which is really low, and their pressure is 30.3, and it is falling.
00:29:29.200 -->
00:29:32.319Their visibility is 10 miles.
00:29:32.319 -->
00:29:41.680Yay! And Bruce, you need to go back and give the Mount Vernon area weather because you didn't do that.
00:29:41.680 -->
00:29:43.440You just gave the temperature.
00:29:43.759 -->
00:29:44.960Uh, you're right.
00:29:44.960 -->
00:29:46.880Uh let me get it back here.
00:29:46.880 -->
00:29:54.240Okay, so they are right now, uh humidity at Mount Vernon, Illinois is 83%.
00:29:54.240 -->
00:29:58.720So southern Illinois, again, very humid.
00:29:58.720 -->
00:30:02.160UV index is three, which is moderate.
00:30:02.160 -->
00:30:06.640Uh the wind is out of the northwest, six miles an hour.
00:30:06.640 -->
00:30:11.680We have a pressure of 30.02 and rising.
00:30:11.680 -->
00:30:18.400The air quality is 31, which is good, and the visibility is 10 miles.
00:30:18.400 -->
00:30:20.799That's a pretty good visibility.
00:30:21.039 -->
00:30:23.680All right, Bruce, I want to do Tokyo.
00:30:24.000 -->
00:30:25.599All right, I got you up.
00:30:25.920 -->
00:30:30.400All right, Tokyo right now is at 76 degrees.
00:30:30.400 -->
00:30:36.880It is 89% humidity, which is very high.
00:30:36.880 -->
00:30:41.440The UV index is zero, probably because it's nighttime.
00:30:41.440 -->
00:30:49.759The wind is out of the west-southwest, but it's zero miles per hour, which is odd.
00:30:49.759 -->
00:31:02.960And the pressure is 29.98 and falling, and visibility is seven miles, and their air quality is 51.
00:31:03.839 -->
00:31:05.119Thank you, Sunny.
00:31:05.119 -->
00:31:06.880That's not a bad job at all.
00:31:06.880 -->
00:31:08.160Let's do one more.
00:31:08.160 -->
00:31:08.799Let's see.
00:31:08.799 -->
00:31:10.720I'll pick it just a second.
00:31:10.720 -->
00:31:13.200All right, I think I'm gonna do Paris.
00:31:13.200 -->
00:31:17.279Um, it's 83 degrees right now in Paris.
00:31:17.279 -->
00:31:22.799Their um humidity is 42%, which is not bad.
00:31:22.799 -->
00:31:23.920It's moderate.
00:31:23.920 -->
00:31:27.519Their UV index is 2, which is low.
00:31:27.519 -->
00:31:32.799The wind is coming out of the west-northwest at 11 miles an hour.
00:31:32.799 -->
00:31:34.400They got a little bit of wind today.
00:31:34.400 -->
00:31:37.119Air quality is 40, which is good.
00:31:37.119 -->
00:31:41.039Their pressure is 29.98 and falling.
00:31:41.039 -->
00:31:46.880The visibility is nine miles, so not too bad of visibility.
00:31:46.880 -->
00:31:52.240And that's Paris, France, today only.
00:31:52.880 -->
00:32:04.559It's really strange reading these off and seeing the differences and the similarities of their weather compared to our local weather.
00:32:04.559 -->
00:32:05.920You know that, Bruce?
00:32:06.240 -->
00:32:09.119I do know that, and that's why I like doing it.
00:32:09.119 -->
00:32:12.559It's a kind of a waste of time for most people.
00:32:12.559 -->
00:32:23.119They probably don't want to listen to it, but I enjoy hearing, as of the time of the recording, what's going on in the world.
00:32:23.119 -->
00:32:24.160There you go.
00:32:24.160 -->
00:32:34.240Let's say we did a good job, and that was sponsored by shoot it, Sunny, the ugly quacking duck podcast.
00:32:34.240 -->
00:32:35.599Yes, sir.
00:32:35.599 -->
00:32:36.720That was good, Sunny.
00:32:36.720 -->
00:32:37.680I appreciate it.
00:32:38.000 -->
00:32:39.920You are very welcome.
00:32:41.680 -->
00:32:54.319Well, Sunny, I think it's about time that we do our earthquake report, and I think we should have a pretty good, if you want to call it pretty good report.
00:32:54.960 -->
00:33:00.480Uh I wouldn't call it pretty good, but um, yeah.
00:33:01.200 -->
00:33:03.039No, I wouldn't either.
00:33:03.039 -->
00:33:09.519We're showing some uh 6.0 and over earthquakes for the week.
00:33:09.519 -->
00:33:20.799And uh the report's gonna be a little bit longer because uh we extended the record time, and I'm sorry about that.
00:33:20.799 -->
00:33:28.480And I don't know if we're gonna do another one this week since Wednesday's only a couple days away.
00:33:28.480 -->
00:33:35.200I may just take a break and start the next report next week.
00:33:35.200 -->
00:33:40.640Yay! Anyhow, the earthquake report, yeah, it's that time.
00:33:40.640 -->
00:33:51.839Uh we ended it last week on August the 5th when we recorded, and now it's August the 17th.
00:33:51.839 -->
00:33:55.359So we've got a several days to cover.
00:33:55.359 -->
00:34:00.720Um but hang on, it's not gonna be that crazy.
00:34:00.720 -->
00:34:05.680So we'll go back to August the 6th and start in.
00:34:05.680 -->
00:34:16.960And as far as the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, there was no 6.0 or over earthquakes.
00:34:16.960 -->
00:34:20.320Excuse me, hang on just a second.
00:34:22.239 -->
00:34:24.159Versus getting tongue-tied.
00:34:24.639 -->
00:34:30.000Well, I wouldn't say tongue tied, I would say my throat's starting to bother me.
00:34:30.000 -->
00:34:36.800I got the door closed and I'm not getting any fresh air in here, which really bothers me a lot.
00:34:36.800 -->
00:34:57.760But anyhow, on the 10th of August we had a 7.4 earthquake, San Jose, Colombia, uh Del Mar, Del Parma, uh excuse me, I'm sorry I messed that up, but in Colombia.
00:34:57.760 -->
00:35:01.119It was on land, a 7.4.
00:35:01.119 -->
00:35:04.639And then on the 11th, nothing.
00:35:04.639 -->
00:35:19.039And then on the 12th, we had a 6.0 uh on the South Sandwich Island region, which happened to be out in the sea, which that's a good thing.
00:35:19.039 -->
00:35:24.480But that 7.4 was on land and it caused quite a bit of damage.
00:35:24.480 -->
00:35:26.159Uh let me check.
00:35:26.159 -->
00:35:30.239The August 11th writing that I'd read, I saved it.
00:35:30.239 -->
00:35:39.199There was at least 111 people dead as of that writing from that 7.4, and I'm sure it's went up.
00:35:39.199 -->
00:35:46.079Uh, I didn't see any new uh statistics, and I don't think I want to know anymore.
00:35:46.079 -->
00:35:48.480Uh, we need to pray for those people.
00:35:48.480 -->
00:35:53.760Anytime it strikes on land like that, you see a lot more damage.
00:35:53.760 -->
00:35:55.760Uh a lot more.
00:35:55.760 -->
00:36:15.679So, anyhow, uh I hate reporting that, but we had a 7.4 and uh quite a bit of damage and death, and then again on the 12th, we had a 6.0, but it was at C, so there wasn't near as much damage.
00:36:15.679 -->
00:36:22.159And then uh 13th, 8.13, we didn't have one.
00:36:22.159 -->
00:36:33.8408.14 it started picking back up, and I noticed that the solar wind had gone back up, and the sunspots had gone up.
00:36:33.840 -->
00:36:59.440It went up to 380 on the solar wind, uh, which had dropped down a little bit, but the sunspots is 101 and the flux was 100, which is just numbers, but it tends to go up a little bit, and then lo and behold, it seems like we have some 6.0 earthquakes.
00:36:59.440 -->
00:37:02.880And it happened that day on 814.
00:37:02.880 -->
00:37:17.519We had a 6.1 in Indonesia, or next to Indonesia, and then a 7.7 also next to Indonesia.
00:37:17.519 -->
00:37:21.440They were both out to sea, which was good.
00:37:21.440 -->
00:37:24.880But that was a 7.7, folks.
00:37:24.880 -->
00:37:26.079That's pretty good size.
00:37:26.079 -->
00:37:29.760I never did hear if there's a tsunami or anything.
00:37:29.760 -->
00:37:48.239And then the next day on the 15th, we had a 6.9 again in Indonesia, but this time it was on land, and I didn't hear any reports of the damage on it or anything.
00:37:48.239 -->
00:37:53.280But that was a six point nine on August the fifteenth.
00:37:53.280 -->
00:38:06.239Then August the sixteenth, we had a six point one in Venutia or next to Venutia, and that was in the sea, so hopefully there was less damage.
00:38:06.239 -->
00:38:26.559And today, so far, on eight seventeen, we haven't had that much, and the wind is still about 337.6 solar wind, the flux is 129, so that's still up on the average of what it usually is.
00:38:26.559 -->
00:38:30.480Hell however, the sunspots are down to 83.
00:38:30.480 -->
00:38:32.400So that's a good thing.
00:38:32.400 -->
00:38:38.079So I don't know if that has anything to do with anything.
00:38:38.079 -->
00:38:46.000Uh the noise floor has been quiet on the radio most of the week.
00:38:46.000 -->
00:38:48.400We've not had very much noise.
00:38:48.400 -->
00:38:53.599And the radio's not been hopping like you know we like to have it.
00:38:55.920 -->
00:39:00.400So what you're saying is we had some bad earthquakes.
00:39:00.719 -->
00:39:02.000Oh yeah, we did.
00:39:02.000 -->
00:39:03.679Let me give you a count.
00:39:03.679 -->
00:39:23.360As of 8.5 to 817, we had six 6.0 and above earthquakes for that period of time, um, which is back up because we'd been averaging about two for those seven days, and this time it's more.
00:39:23.360 -->
00:39:26.480But we had a few more extra days in there, too.
00:39:26.480 -->
00:39:33.119Anyhow, I hate reporting the bad, but I guess that's part of it.
00:39:33.119 -->
00:39:35.280So I hope you guys enjoyed that.
00:39:35.280 -->
00:39:38.239If there's any way to enjoy it.
00:39:38.639 -->
00:39:45.440Well, you're getting it out there, and for some people they like to know what's going on.
00:39:45.440 -->
00:39:47.760So there you go, Bruce.
00:39:48.400 -->
00:39:49.599Thank you, Sunny.
00:39:49.599 -->
00:39:52.320I don't know if that made me feel any better or not.
00:39:52.320 -->
00:40:05.679I'd like to make everybody laugh and giggle and forget about their troubles and their trials and tribulations and the sickness that's uh happening in the world.
00:40:05.679 -->
00:40:10.880Uh, but there is some things I have to report on.
00:40:10.880 -->
00:40:15.599I try to stay away from politics, it's crazy.
00:40:15.920 -->
00:40:19.199Oh, it's way past crazy, Bruce.
00:40:19.199 -->
00:40:22.400Way past Well, yeah.
00:40:22.639 -->
00:40:22.960Okay.
00:40:22.960 -->
00:40:30.800So, anyhow, we try to bring a little bit of light into this crazy world.
00:40:30.800 -->
00:40:34.639We, you know, we want people to laugh and have joy.
00:40:34.639 -->
00:40:36.480Wait a minute, I got it.
00:40:36.480 -->
00:40:39.280That's what we want.
00:40:39.280 -->
00:40:41.920And that's what we need.
00:40:42.320 -->
00:40:48.559But we can't forget the problems because that brings us to reality.
00:40:48.559 -->
00:40:56.320If we stick our head in the sand and not face problems, then we won't grow stronger.
00:40:56.320 -->
00:41:03.760We won't m meet people's needs, and we'll just be a bunch of laughing idiots.
00:41:04.480 -->
00:41:08.000Well, that's probably true too, and I don't want nobody to do that.
00:41:08.000 -->
00:41:15.360So, anyhow, uh this has been a weird recording week, um, almost a week, man.
00:41:15.360 -->
00:41:19.599I started last Wednesday, Thursday, I don't remember what day it was.
00:41:19.599 -->
00:41:26.880I was off a couple days because of uh my work and things I had to get done.
00:41:26.880 -->
00:41:28.480I had doctor's appointments.
00:41:28.480 -->
00:41:31.280It just really messed up that week.
00:41:31.280 -->
00:41:37.920So I started it and I had to finish it today, which is another week, and I don't like doing that.
00:41:37.920 -->
00:41:42.960But hey, you can't hold me a hostage over it, can you?
00:41:43.280 -->
00:41:45.199Well, they might be able to.
00:41:45.199 -->
00:41:47.039Don't give them a chance.
00:41:48.000 -->
00:41:48.320Okay.
00:41:48.320 -->
00:41:54.079Well, anyhow, folks, I hope you got something out of this episode.
00:41:54.079 -->
00:42:00.000It was a strange one to record, but uh, it was still fun.
00:42:00.000 -->
00:42:07.920Yes, it was, and we're gonna have to bid you farewell and shut her down because we're gonna be running over if we don't.
00:42:07.920 -->
00:42:14.800So until next time, 73, and may the father's blessings and love go with you.
00:42:15.519 -->
00:42:19.360And thank you for sticking with us today.
00:42:19.360 -->
00:42:25.519Bye, everybody.
