My business line of credit got shut down over the weekend — mid-underwriting, no warning. In this episode, Matt Love and I break down exactly why that happens, how banks actually make their money, and why owning your own banking system beats depending on someone else's.
We unpack the real math behind bank lending — when a bank pays you 1% on deposits and charges 7% on a loan, that's not a 6% spread, it's a 600% rate of return, because none of the money being lent was theirs to begin with. That's where the term "infinite banking" comes from. Matt also breaks down how corporations like Walmart have used cash-value life insurance on their own employees as a corporate asset for decades, why a SEP IRA can quietly create illiquidity you can't access for decades, and the story of a business owner who used a life insurance policy to buy equipment and rebuild after Hurricane Katrina — making seven figures with money the "experts" said should just sit there.
I also get real about the cost of illiquidity in my own life: a mobile home park I passed on because my capital was locked in a 401(k) — a $400K property that's now worth $1.6 million. Money I had. Just in the wrong place.
This isn't about avoiding banks. It's about understanding exactly how they win, so you can build the same system for yourself.
