SELLEST OSAST
This podcast is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.NOTE: This episode includes discussion of pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and lactation after loss. Take care of yourself while you listen. This week, we welcome adrienne maree brown, the writer, doula, and healer whose work taught a generation that rest and pleasure are the road, not the reward. She and Adrienne Michelle talk about why they both love the South, what it means that "we are a place," and the slow, land-rooted pace of molasses time. From there they move into loss as a whole, complete life, whether you are called to parent at all, and what marriage could look like if it were not built on ownership. They end on the idea that ideological change takes a hundred years, and we are in the beginning. This is the first part of a two-part conversation.
adrienne maree brown (she/they) is the author of Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds (AK Press, 2017), Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good (AK Press, 2019) [verify NYT-bestselling], and Loving Corrections (AK Press, 2024).
