SELLEST OSAST
Peter Lynagh has built a career across sales, marketing, senior leadership, entrepreneurship, business transformation, and executive coaching. After progressing from chemistry into senior MD and CEO roles within multinational organisations, Peter eventually took the leap into running his own business and now works as a coach, mentor, facilitator, and supporter of business leaders.
Join co-hosts Romesh Jeyaseelanayagam, Mike Oliver, and Peter Lynagh as they explore what it really takes to become a good leader, build strong teams, and support people to reach their potential.
Peter shares how an early mentor helped him succeed when he became an MD at a young age, and why he believes leaders should focus on people’s strengths rather than their weaknesses. They discuss the difference between coaching and mentoring, the importance of listening and asking open questions, building confidence within teams, succession planning, and why a manager’s role should include helping people grow.
The conversation also explores leadership styles, from humble and supportive managers to more directive leaders, and why authenticity, trust, teamwork, and strong team culture matter regardless of your leadership approach.
Drawing on decades of experience in multinational business, Peter also shares lessons from mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business transformation, and navigating difficult commercial decisions. He explains why successful business transitions need to create a genuine win-win for the business, its people, and the new owners.
But this episode goes beyond business. Peter opens up about some of the personal challenges that have shaped his outlook, including losing his opportunity to pursue university, serious rugby injuries, the loss of his grandson Joshua, and the impact of COVID on his business. He shares how he learned to adapt to adversity, keep moving forward, and turn difficult experiences into something positive through the Joshua Lynagh Foundation.
From leadership and executive coaching to entrepreneurship, resilience, team development, mentoring, and personal growth, this is a conversation about how our experiences shape the leaders we become.
