Meg: no.
Sam: four or five, and we're gonna go about it that way and see if we learn anything new about each other over the course of this episode. I think we probably will. I think we probably will. All right. So do you want to start with the questions?
Meg: I think we might. I think we might. Sure. Okay, So my first question. What's something Don't be nervous. It'll be good. What's something you learned from me when we were growing up, even if you never told me?
Sam: Mm-hmm. I'm nervous. Why am I nervous? Okay, go ahead. Mm, I was looking at this question. I almost chose it. I didn't though. It'll be interesting to see if we've chosen any the same, you know, really doing those twin telepathy rumors justice or not.
Meg: Well, I'm glad you didn't. Mm-hmm. Yes. Yeah.
Sam: Something I learned from you. I feel like I learned a lot from you. I mean, I feel like a lot of my my life cues were taken from you. you know what? I feel like The reason that I generally try to move with as much integrity as I can, even if sometimes I fail at it, is because of you. because you've always sort of held yourself to a standard of always moving in line with what you believed. And Also In terms of when we're talking about people You were always making sure that you weren't being overly harshly judgmental for anyone and always holding space for compassion for people. And I feel like maybe I could jump a little bit more into reactivity or maybe even like a little bit more into pettiness. So I feel like watching you move in those ways also made me align. even more in in that direction as well.
Meg: a really nice answer and you know it's it makes me laugh a little that that that's the case because in our personal relationship I was I could be a little bit more harsh and judgmental so towards you specifically yes I know so what a paradox what a paradox yes
Sam: Yeah, towards me. Yeah. But you never let me be you never let me be overly judgmental or you would you would check me if I was being if I started to move too much into like if I was pissed off about something and then I wanted to really move into that petty energy, you you wouldn't you wouldn't let me. You know, you you always made sure to like
Meg: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Exact vengeance or something. Mm.
Sam: To remind me to be the bigger person.
Meg: Yeah. Yeah. I definitely strive for that in my own life, so that was a nice answer. Should I answer it?
Sam: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah.
Meg: Okay, what's something you learned from me when you're growing up? This lesson actually took me a long time to learn, but I did learn it from you. And that was, and we have kind we have kind of discussed this a little bit already in our previous episodes, but it is learning to
Sam: I learned for yeah. Uh-huh. I think I know what you're gonna say. Yeah.
Meg: to to be open and not to be embarrassed to put myself into vulnerable situations or to express my feelings. You know, that was something that you always did very naturally was was
Sam: Mm-hmm.
Meg: Put yourself out there and let yourself be embarrassed. And I think that really fosters a lot of growth in people. And I think it fostered a lot of growth in you in a lot of ways is just being comfortable enough to do that. And so that's something that I have really taken to heart, especially into my adulthood. Maybe not so much when I was younger.
Sam: Yeah.
Meg: But definitely now for sure.
Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Okay. Okay. So my first question is if you had to describe me using three adjectives, what would they be?
Meg: Three adjectives. Three adjectives. Give me a moment. Because I wanna I wanna pick good ones here.
Sam: I know. I already wrote down my answers for you, so I have a little Yeah. I didn't do it for every question, but for this one I did.
Meg: you did? I should have done that. Okay, I wanna say one is brave.
Sam: really? I don't feel brave a lot of the time.
Meg: Yeah. And I mean that dude, you moved halfway across the world on your own and you and like and from that past question that we that we answered, you were always willing to put yourself out there. Yes, there were moments there were moments like for example, jumping off a cliff or like doing some physical skill you've never done before. Where maybe that bravery didn't come through as much, but when it comes to
Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Meg: relating with people and going for what you want. You have always been brave in that way. two, I would say whimsical. When I picture you, I I picture someone kind of who exists in like fairyland. And not in a not in a weird not in a weird negative way, but like in a good way. Like you are very much a storyteller.
Sam: Thanks. Okay, yeah.
Meg: You have always been really naturally inclined to retain stories and lore. but also just have have developed this, I think, really, really whimsical, magical feeling presence.
Sam: Mm.
Meg: What's a call? Brave. The third adjective. What do I want it to be? The thing that I really look for in people first. To see whether or not I want to make a strong connection with them is compassion. And you have that to your core. And so I would also say compassionate.
Sam: Thank you. Thank you. Okay. So the ones I chose for you are inspiring. and I say that because again, like I've moved through life in a lot of ways being inspired by you and like your motivation and I think that a lot of people have always found you inspiring the way that you speak and again watching how you move through life with integrity and and how you treat people and just your energy.
Meg: No, that's really thanks.
Sam: I also chose virtuous, but I don't mean that in like, you know, like waiting until marriage for yeah, I I mean it in the way that again where it comes back to integrity. I I couldn't choose between like noble or virtuous or but just how you hold
Meg: Really stick up my butt kinda way. Mm-hmm.
Sam: your values and you act from them. You don't hold values and then still just do whatever you feel is convenient. And then I couldn't choose between compassionate or like brilliant in the way of shining. or being a light. but of course, like the with the compassion one I feel the same way. And I feel like maybe we sort of
Meg: Yes, or
Sam: Either we were both naturally inclined to it or it was sort of this this thing that we saw in each other. That maybe we we fed off of for both of us, I'm not sure.
Meg: I think both. Mm-hmm. And said, hey, that's that's what I wanna be. That's how I wanna move through the world. Yeah. Wow. I love this episode so far. Alright. Thank you, Sam. That was very nice. Okay. Now the second one isn't as personal. So
Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Ha ha. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Meg: I said or I chose what's something people always get wrong about twins that drives you quietly crazy.
Sam: Mm. Let me think.
Meg: Or maybe not even get wrong. What's an assumption about twins? Or you know, what do people have in their minds about twins that that you don't like or that drives you nuts so
Sam: Well I mean the I mean, I I'm fair like for most assumptions I'm fairly flexible with. a lot of them I just find funny. I'm not overly irritated by any of them. The one that bothers me the most it's when you get the lewd questions or the lewd thoughts. Yeah.
Meg: Mm-hmm. When people try to make it a tank, right? Ugh.
Sam: It's that, it's that. That's the that's that's the one that they don't n none of the other ones really bother me, regardless of whether or not I think they're true or not. But that one I find like it just makes me sort of feel disgusting. Or like when when dudes ask you about it, or even with your partners when when they go, your your girlfriend's a twin, like do you ever switch or whatever the fuck that is?
Meg: Yeah. Yeah Yes, that's so ippy.
Sam: And I understand that maybe maybe there are performative twins that that like will feed into the stereotypes for the sake of performance or money or whatever it is. But like yeah, that's not the reality. That's not the reality in in a twin dynam. I mean, how would you feel like
Meg: No, exactly.
Sam: To the men who asked that how would you feel if somebody was asking you questions like that about your brother or even your sister, you know, weird, fucking weird.
Meg: Yeah.
Sam: So yeah, that would be my answer.
Meg: That is also my answer and the one I had in my mind. Because yes, most things don't bother me, but that one Ugh just makes me feel a little a little icked out. It is gross. It is gross.
Sam: Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's gross. It's just gross. Yeah. Okay.
Meg: Okay.
Sam: Okay, let's do a fun one now. Okay, what is the superpower that you would choose? And do you think that I would choose the same one or a different one?
Meg: Next. Okay. Yeah. do I even know what superpower I would choose?
Sam: I don't I don't know if I know mine either.
Meg: let me think. Let me think. I honestly think that the superpower that I would choose
Sam: Mm-hmm.
Meg: Would be to t would be to talk to animals. I and you know, y like flying seems fun. having gills and like being able to turn into a dolphin or a whale also seems really fun.
Sam: Yeah, that's a good one. Mm-hmm.
Meg: But being able to communicate with the animals, I don't know. I just think that it would open up an entirely new a new world. so some of you listening might know this. Most of you probably don't, if you don't know us personally, but we are vegan. We do care deeply about the animals. And I just wanna
Sam: Mm.
Meg: know what their experience is in life, honestly. So I think that would be the power I would choose. Would that be the one you chose?
Sam: Yeah.
Meg: I think it would be on your list of options.
Sam: Yes, it would be on my list of options. Trying to think what my superpower I would choose would be. I was sort of thinking like Spider-Man or Aquaman vibes, but now I'm thinking outside of the
Meg: I was thinking an aquamon an aquaman but an aqua lady vibe for you. That's what I was thinking, like a mermaid like a mermaid situation.
Sam: He Yeah, but also but also but also I'm thinking outside of the box now because of your answer. And I feel like you know what a good superpower would be like earth goddess sort of vibes where you can stick your hand in the ground and and revitalize and revitalize the the earth, like make the trees grow and the plants, the flowers bloom and and bring the earth back to health. That would be I like that.
Meg: I was gonna say a goddess for you too. Yeah. Yes.
Sam: I like that one. I have a I have a long list of superpowers that I would like, but that would be
Meg: Yeah, I like that too. Ha ha ha.
Sam: The animal one is good too. Maybe just like a general sort of nature goddess one where you could do that but also talk to animals.
Meg: All right, you're really covering a lot of bases here, I like it. Okay.
Sam: Yeah. You gotta move into you gotta go. Maybe instead of just the superpower, it's like what constellation of superpower like what would who would you be as a superhero? Anyways, that wasn't the question. it was super power, but now I'm conflicted and I'm you know, we're not sometimes the the most decisive people. So yeah, working on it. Or the Aquaman. Sort of the mermaid vibes. Yeah, I would probably go with that.
Meg: Yes. Yeah. No. Working on it. We're working on it. Mm. Mm hmm. Okay, so my next question for you is what's something you do completely different than me that you think is actually the better way?
Sam: Is there anything I do completely differently than you? seasoning.
Meg: Yeah, yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yes. You measure, I don't. I'm lazy. I also taste my food. You say I don't taste but I do taste my food, and then you get mad because it doesn't taste the way you want it to taste.
Sam: Seasoning the food. I taste my food as I'm cooking. But you know, I don't like where I am right now, I don't really have measuring spoons, so I can't be and I also don't use recipes like at all here. If I'm cooking, I'm just doing it off the top of my head. So But yeah, when you're following a recipe using the measurements they specify and then tasting and then adjusting from the I don't know. Maybe you don't do it that differently than me, but I feel like your food was like under seasoned a lot of the time.
Meg: Right. No, I do. I do you measure. I get lazy and I like throw some in my hand and throw it in and then I taste it.
Sam: I know, but I think you I think you think you always think that like you need less than you actually need.
Meg: Even though I like put in more than I think the recipe's calling for in my brain. That's how how I perceive it. So
Sam: Yeah. Yeah. And I mean it's probably just just my preference, right? It doesn't make yours wrong, but I would say like if I had to choose something that would probably be it. That would probably be it. Nothing really deeper. And that's not even a diplomatic answer. It's just like I can't think of anything else.
Meg: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Sam: Okay, next. wait, go back to your question.
Meg: Wife Roy. what's something what's something I do completely differently than you that I think is actually the better way?
Sam: Do you have an answer for that? Mm-hmm.
Meg: I would say when it comes to approaching any kind of physical a new physical endeavor it would be being aggressive about how you approach it. I think that's what I would say if I was to have an answer to that. Like just go for it and like just try it. Just just go for it, just try it.
Sam: What do you mean aggressive? yeah. I mean when was the last time I didn't really like wasn't willing to try something?
Meg: Sometimes you've always been a little bit you've always been a little bit like like I don't know and and You like to have like a little bit of support for longer. Do you know what I mean? And it's not a b it's it's not a big thing.
Sam: Yeah. Maybe that's true. I'm just trying to think if that's still relevant now. I know that it used to be for sure. But you mean like well, yeah, I guess with like the handstands and stuff without a wall or Yeah. Okay. I see where you're coming from. huh. Yeah. Yeah. Again, that's where when I say I don't feel that brave sometimes it's the stuff like that. I don't want to I'm too scared to do a handstand without the wall behind me.
Meg: It might not be. Yeah. That's what I mean. Anything like that. Ha ha ha. I get it. I ha definitely have I definitely have some of those moments.
Sam: 'Cause it's it's it's honestly though like this I it's I think I have like this fear of this feeling of falling.
Meg: Ha ha ha
Sam: You know? So typically if I'm avoiding something, it's anything that's gonna give me that feeling of falling. Yeah.
Meg: Right, that makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, cool. That's really the only thing I would say. When I was younger I would have said don't put don't let people know your emotions so easily. I would have said that when I was younger, but I don't believe that anymore.
Sam: Ha ha I know. Yeah. Although I I believe that sometimes. I believe that honestly sometimes I'm a little bit too reactive or open with how I'm feeling and it doesn't work in my favor sometimes. There's a mu yeah, there's some level of moderation that's needed. Yeah.
Meg: There's a balance, right? Neither extreme works.
Sam: So okay. Anyways, so my question is, do you have any dreams that you don't talk about because it feels too vulnerable or big?
Meg: necessarily I've got kind of half form dreams at the moment. and it all has to do with with creating spaces that are like medicine for people essentially. I believe that there are fundamentals for health and vitality and I think that they can be very simple. That is that is movement, that is breath, that is food, that is sleep.
Sam: Mm-hmm.
Meg: and hydration, right? And so For me, one of my passions is helping people to feel more vital. And I I do have some thoughts right now about about that kind of stuff in in specific places. I'm not gonna talk about that right now though. But otherwise, I don't know. Are there any other dreams that just feel too
Sam: Mm-hmm. Okay.
Meg: Far-fetched to talk about at the moment. I wanna live. I wanna live by an ocean in warm weather on a cliff somewhere overlooking overlooking the water.
Sam: Or like Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Meg: what about you, dude? Answer your own question.
Sam: Do I have any dreams? I don't talk about because it feels too vulnerable or big. I feel like I talk about most of my dreams. Again, it's very similar to you creating spaces for people to come and heal. specifically for me, I want to create a very spiritual, sacred healing space. Probably somewhere here in Ecuador at some point. That would be the biggest culmination of everything.
Meg: Yeah.
Sam: I want to create, I want to feel fulfilled and inspired. I want to exist in and and curate and cultivate beauty around me.
Meg: Yes, totally.
Sam: and Big thing is like just keep learning about the things that I find interesting and sort of moving into a a state of mastery.
Meg: Yeah. Yes, I agree. I agree.
Sam: with the body, with an understanding of health and all of that stuff, and also creating a space where I live that is like more plant forward with nutrition, Also helping people understand how to connect with and a and empathize and sympathize with other humans and non humans. So yeah, that's the kind of work So I've talked about that with you. I'm not going around talking about it to everybody, but but those are that's sort of the energy I I move into. And also just leading with love primarily, I tend to
Meg: Yes, yeah.
Sam: lean too heavily into fear a lot of the time. and I can
Meg: Sometimes.
Sam: Yeah. Sometimes like I I find it hard to get out of that contracted space emotionally. So just learning how to be more expansive, lead more with love more consistently, and be consistently solid in myself and who I am and my value. Yeah.
Meg: Love it. That's what we should all strive to do, so perfect.
Sam: Mm-hmm.
Meg: Okay. What's something you'd love for us to do or experience together that we haven't yet?
Sam: Mm. Together. Let me see, let me think. Honestly, probably something like facilitating a ceremonial space.
Meg: That's what I was thinking too. But also go diving with like great white sharks.
Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's a great one too. or even like running some kind of retreat together.
Meg: I was also thinking that.
Sam: it would be sort of like creating some kind of offering for people where they can come and join us and
Meg: Yes.
Sam: and feel a little better after become more like integrated in their body and their mind and their soul or or access a little bit of healing or whatever it may be. Yeah.
Meg: Yeah. Yeah, awesome. The Greatwood Sharks and that.
Sam: What about you? Mm-hmm.
Meg: it I would just like to travel with maybe some more places together with you. I actually I think it would be fun to like go to to go to Japan or or like Korea or something together.
Sam: Mm-hmm. I I actually have a I have a friend who wants me to come visit her in Japan so we can go together and maybe stay with her.
Meg: Yeah. That'd be cool. That'd be really cool.
Sam: Yeah.
Meg: well that was all my questions. Do you have one more?
Sam: Okay. I have one more.
Meg: Okay.
Sam: What's something you secretly think you do better than me? No diplomacy, please.
Meg: What is something? I secretly think I do better than you. I think a lot of in a lot of ways It can be a stronger athletic competitor in not in everything.
Sam: Mm-hmm.
Meg: But that I if I was to say if there was one thing that y if you were to pit me and you against each other and I got to choose
Sam: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Meg: what it was we were doing because I I felt like I had a better chance of winning, it would be something athletic. It's not to say that you're not athletic, but I tend to grind a little harder and be j I just have a slightly more competitive mindset. Like I want to win and you don't really care.
Sam: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's true. I mean, I do what I don't. I do what I don't.
Meg: I wanna win and you don't really care. Yes. Yeah, you don't care you don't care as much.
Sam: No, I don't care as much, no. Yeah, you're right. I mean, I feel like a lot of I mean I mean when we were swimming and stuff, it felt good when we were winning, and I did want to win when we were there. Right? But it was also like if we were at the pool and you were the fastest one there, I would be the second one there just because I wanted to keep up with you. And that was like my main motivation, right? So I'd be like coming in second or like not like super far behind you in anything. But most of the reason I was keeping up or
Meg: That's what I would say. Yeah.
Sam: holding things like was because like I wanted to keep up with you, not necessarily because I inherently like needed to be first, even though it felt good to be strong or or sort of
Meg: T at the
Sam: In some cases like yeah, at the top of the At the top of the list,
Meg: Yeah. Yeah it's
Sam: You know, and and to to for people to find me motivational and all that stuff. But I was never Yeah, I was never motivated by competition necessarily the same way that you were.
Meg: Mm-hmm.
Sam: In fact, competing was probably my least favorite part of the sport. I liked the admiration I got after the fact.
Meg: Yeah. Yeah.
Sam: and sometimes I felt quite deep shame if I didn't do as well or if the results weren't as good as I felt like I wanted them to be. But it still wasn't
Meg: for sure. We both experience that. Everyone as an athlete experiences that I think.
Sam: Yeah. So I mean, for everybody listening, like I was still a strong, highly competitive athlete. I just wasn't motivated by competition the way my sister was. And yeah. My I was my
Meg: Yes, Sam yes, Sam was a very good athlete. Sam was a very good Sam we yes. I just wanted to come in first all the all the time and I would strive to do it.
Sam: My Yeah, and then I just was basically like there, doing my best to keep up with her in there for like
Meg: Yeah, and Sam was like and Sam was like as as long as I I'm behind as long as I'm behind Meg, it's good.
Sam: Yeah. So yeah. For me, what's something I secretly think I do better than you?
Meg: I can think of a few off the top of my head.
Sam: I can't. Hold on.
Meg: I'm gonna let you answer before I I answer for you.
Sam: What do I think I do better? Mm. I guess maybe like like singing, but only because like you're afraid to sometimes.
Meg: That's the vulnerability thing. Singing, I would say storytelling.
Sam: I I don't know if that's true.
Meg: Retaining lore, you have always been so much naturally better at remembering mythology, like being able to retell those stories.
Sam: Yeah. sometimes I retell them a little chaotically but
Meg: It doesn't feel that way to me.
Sam: Okay.
Meg: Yeah. You've got a little bit more natural whimsy than me, that's for sure.
Sam: We just have a little more natural edge.
Meg: Hm.
Sam: So it's a little bit of that softness versus
Meg: Yeah,
Sam: That duality.
Meg: totally.
Sam: Yeah.
Meg: Cool. Well that was a fun conversation.
Sam: Think that's all those were my questions. That was a fun one. Did we learn anything?
Meg: I I think so. I learned how you felt about me. I'm feeling like my feathers are so like primed and primed right now. I am. I'm flipping I'm doing hair flips over here.
Sam: Yeah She's chaffed. Yeah. Nice. Love to see it. Love that for you.
Meg: Yeah. Yeah. Good.
Sam: Yeah, I feel the same. I feel like we didn't come out with any new stories that I was sort of expecting to maybe like encounter some sort of memory that one of us had that the other one didn't have any recollection of, but that didn't happen.
Meg: Maybe we'll do another episode like this again and maybe something new will come out.
Sam: Yeah, for sure. My problem is though is that I think I just have a really bad memory of my childhood. Like how much do I actually remember?
Meg: I wanna be there too because I don't remember a I don't remember a lot from childhood.
Sam: Yeah, me neither. I don't either.
Meg: I I feel like I used to have so many memories but I just I've lost them all. As a thirty six year old, they're just not as important anymore.
Sam: Yeah. All that memory space. Yeah.
Meg: We've got some fun ones though, together.
Sam: Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
Meg: Yeah. Okay. one.
Sam: Okay. thank you everybody for joining us again this week. we hope you have a wonderful week. Sending you as usual lots of love and blessings. Meg, you got anything you wanna say before we kick out of here?
Meg: I hope you guys enjoyed that episode. It was a fun one for us to record. We'll try and alternate a little bit between some of those deeper episodes and some of these more lighthearted episodes. But until next week, thank you so much, everybody, for joining us. And we will see you next time here on Split.
Sam: Mm-hmm. Ciao.
