SELLEST OSAST
In this Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible episode, we read the complete books of Amos, Obadiah, and Jonah from the King James Version.
Amos, a shepherd called by God to prophesy to Israel, speaks boldly against injustice, empty religion, complacency, and oppression. His message calls God’s people beyond outward worship toward lives shaped by righteousness: “Let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.” Yet Amos also closes with a promise that God will restore what has fallen.
Obadiah, the shortest book of the Old Testament, turns toward Edom and warns against pride, violence, and rejoicing over the suffering of others. The prophet declares that the day of the Lord is near, while also promising deliverance upon Mount Zion.
Then we come to Jonah, who runs from God’s call to preach to Nineveh. Through storm, sea, a great fish, repentance, and unexpected mercy, Jonah learns that the compassion of God reaches farther than he expected.
Settle in with gentle narration, soothing music, and peaceful visuals as Amos, Obadiah, and Jonah lead us through justice, humility, repentance, divine compassion, and the enduring truth that “Salvation is of the LORD.”
