Deep Dive into Golgotha: The Crucified Son of God (Mark 15:33–39)
The provided sources offer an in-depth Reformed theological and historical exposition of Mark 15:33–39, focusing on the profound significance of Jesus Christ's crucifixion at Golgotha. They examine the cosmic darkness and the cry of dereliction as evidence of penal substitutionary atonement, where the sinless Son bore the unmitigated judicial wrath of God for the elect. Furthermore, the texts explore how Christ's sovereign expiration resulted in the miraculous tearing of the temple veil, effectively abolishing the Old Covenant ceremonial system and granting believers direct, unhindered access to God. Finally, the sources highlight the centurion's confession as a striking symbol of Gentile conversion and address vital pastoral applications, including the call for urgent repentance, unwavering assurance, and fearless endurance under persecution.
