SELLEST OSAST
In this solo episode of The Pintastic® Podcast, Laura Rike explains the one thing almost everybody gets backwards about holidays on Pinterest. Right now, someone is already outranking you for Christmas while they're at the lake. On Pinterest, your peak season isn't when you start, it's when your summer work finally cashes in. Laura breaks down the ranking runway, the data on how early buyers plan, why holiday ads need to warm up now, and the one small thing to do this week so you're not white-knuckling Q4.
Key Takeaways:
- Holiday Pins Need a Runway to Climb: A brand-new pin doesn't jump to the top of search. Pinterest indexes it, reads it, tests it, then ranks it. For seasonal content that ramp is 90 to 120 days, so a pin peaking in November needs to exist by late summer.
- Buyers Plan Way Earlier Than You Think: People start holiday discovery about 10 and a half weeks before their main gift purchase, and recent data shows searches starting as early as April. Wait until October and you've missed the first wave.
- Keep Holiday Pins Evergreen: Don't stamp the year on the graphic. Put it in the pin title if you want, but the moment you date the image, you turn a perennial back into an annual you have to remake every year.
- Ads Warm Up, Too: Brands see around five times more conversions when people meet their ads earlier in the season, and campaigns running six months or longer see about 33% higher return. Warming can be small and steady.
- Organic and Ads Feed Each Other: When your boards and pins are already set up and starting to rank, your ads have something warm to build on. Summer organic work and summer ad work are not two separate lists.
