00:00:45.728 --> 00:00:48.747
Another friendly interview with our good friend Tiffany.
00:00:48.747 --> 00:00:50.505
But first, joe, how are you doing, brother?
00:00:51.280 --> 00:00:56.109
Man, I'm feeling amazing today and I got to admit your energy is contagious.
00:00:56.109 --> 00:01:03.310
I'm sure that people are listening to say the same thing because, even though we were just on a meeting, we get on to the podcast and, man, it just lifts my spirit.
00:01:03.310 --> 00:01:04.841
So I'm feeling great.
00:01:04.841 --> 00:01:05.844
Man, I appreciate it.
00:01:05.844 --> 00:01:06.706
I hope you're doing the same.
00:01:07.128 --> 00:01:08.590
Absolutely Schedule's full.
00:01:08.590 --> 00:01:21.727
I'm having this really seemingly obvious realization that if something's not on the calendar it doesn't get done, but the calendar's kind of full, so kind of dealing with that whole bit you know.
00:01:22.510 --> 00:01:23.962
Yeah, so I think the streamline that process.
00:01:23.962 --> 00:01:27.503
You and I are constantly working on ways we can develop and continue in grooming.
00:01:28.084 --> 00:01:28.587
Absolutely.
00:01:28.587 --> 00:01:31.608
I don't want to waste too much time without introducing.
00:01:31.608 --> 00:01:40.009
We've got Tiffany Horwatt of 808 Electric, rather, and she's going to tell us all about her journey so far.
00:01:40.009 --> 00:01:48.280
And this is perfect timing, Joe, because I'm actually I don't know if you knew this about me I'm pretty sure we share this, though I'm a huge advocate of women in trades.
00:01:48.280 --> 00:01:48.962
How about you?
00:01:48.962 --> 00:01:49.704
I?
00:01:49.765 --> 00:01:50.528
completely agree.
00:01:50.528 --> 00:01:54.984
I honestly think that the next generation is going to be run by women, so why not advocate for it now?
00:01:55.004 --> 00:01:56.923
right, that's amazing, man.
00:01:56.923 --> 00:01:58.843
Here's the thing about Tiffany.
00:01:58.843 --> 00:02:05.423
We get on calls with electric printers every day and we just try to help as we keep giving stuff away.
00:02:05.423 --> 00:02:18.965
So much freemium content, so much to help people rise up on the value ladder and rise up in their journey, on their business and Tiffany's one of the very few people who literally stumped me on a call and I thought this is profound.
00:02:18.965 --> 00:02:27.147
She's done so well in her career to date and now is building her own business after becoming a mom and all of this and her journey.
00:02:27.147 --> 00:02:30.227
Why don't we introduce her and get asking her some questions about this?
00:02:30.227 --> 00:02:31.450
I can't wait.
00:02:31.450 --> 00:02:33.120
I already got a list, so I'm ready to go.
00:02:33.120 --> 00:02:34.626
All right, tiffany, please join us.
00:02:34.626 --> 00:02:37.788
Hello, hello, hello.
00:02:37.788 --> 00:02:38.461
How are you?
00:02:39.264 --> 00:02:39.906
Good.
00:02:40.608 --> 00:02:41.431
Fantastic.
00:02:41.431 --> 00:02:42.564
Thank you for joining us.
00:02:42.564 --> 00:02:47.090
So, tiffany, as I said and I know you just heard, I mean you've been right here the whole time.
00:02:47.090 --> 00:03:13.245
You stumped me We've got a call flow where we literally we go through some marketing stuff and sure, you're kind of getting back into business for yourself now and we're going to talk about that but as we go through then our loop method stuff to really see if you've got these offer pieces that are really conducive to your service and keeping people repeating and you kind of knew all that stuff too.
00:03:13.245 --> 00:03:16.933
And then I'm like, okay, I got to go into sales process stuff.
00:03:16.933 --> 00:03:28.868
I got to dig a little deeper, right, if we get into the sales process and you're like, yeah, I go to the panel first and it just blew my mind Like there's so many secrets in the background to talk about here today.
00:03:28.868 --> 00:03:35.424
But tell us a bit about your beginnings and why you chose Electrical in the first place or how it chose you.
00:03:37.403 --> 00:03:39.147
We'll say I kind of fell into it.
00:03:39.147 --> 00:03:45.292
I do actually have a lot of uncles and cousins that happen to be electricians.
00:03:45.292 --> 00:03:51.729
However, they live out of state and when I was in high school I took classes.
00:03:51.729 --> 00:03:58.145
We had classes in the basement of our high school and they were like a technology geared college course, if you will.
00:03:58.145 --> 00:04:11.328
So I took three, three, four years of that and when I graduated I wasn't exactly sure that I wanted to do electrical specifically, like I was interested in carpentry and foundry stuff.
00:04:13.080 --> 00:04:16.550
And my mom, she worked for a local general contractor.
00:04:16.550 --> 00:04:26.468
She was in the office and their electrician was looking for it to hire someone and she mentioned that hey, my daughter's right out of high school.
00:04:26.468 --> 00:04:29.307
She's looking to maybe get into electrical.
00:04:29.307 --> 00:04:31.607
Would you be interested in bringing her on?
00:04:31.607 --> 00:04:35.410
So he said sure, absolutely.
00:04:35.410 --> 00:04:39.345
So I met with him, we sat down, we had a really good conversation.
00:04:39.345 --> 00:04:43.689
I worked there for seven and a half years.
00:04:43.689 --> 00:04:53.605
Wow, a lot, mostly residential, some small commercial, a little bit of industrial work, and he was my old boss.
00:04:53.605 --> 00:04:54.904
I mean, he was amazing.
00:04:54.904 --> 00:04:57.485
He really taught me a lot.
00:04:57.485 --> 00:05:05.052
So, from there again, so I kind of on the on the side, I'd race dirt bikes and quads.
00:05:06.093 --> 00:05:06.415
Nice.
00:05:06.579 --> 00:05:14.463
And he said I was at the races one day and I see these bikes beside me and they say Keegan Electric on them.
00:05:14.463 --> 00:05:21.213
So I see the guys over there and I'm like, hey, you guys are electricians, I am too.
00:05:21.213 --> 00:05:25.110
So we got to talking and I said are you guys hiring by chance?
00:05:25.110 --> 00:05:33.887
And they said, well, we're not hiring on our electrical end, but we're actually hiring on our climbing end.
00:05:33.887 --> 00:05:39.071
So they also had Keegan Waterless where they worked on cell phone towers.
00:05:39.071 --> 00:05:42.088
So I joined that.
00:05:42.088 --> 00:05:46.168
I was kind of intrigued, but you know, I was like I want to check this out.
00:05:46.168 --> 00:05:50.269
So I climbed towers for three years.
00:05:50.269 --> 00:05:55.910
So I was working from 150 foot to 250 foot on a daily basis.
00:05:55.910 --> 00:05:58.314
But I also did yeah.
00:05:58.680 --> 00:05:59.692
Just call a quick time out for a second.
00:05:59.692 --> 00:06:08.507
Like Clay, I kind of get where Clay is coming from, because I'm literally watching my own jaw drop as we're going through.
00:06:08.507 --> 00:06:15.584
You're like, yeah, I started off in residential and then also did commercial and then also did industrial and then we also did climbing.
00:06:15.584 --> 00:06:16.805
I'm almost wanting to get a certain point.
00:06:16.805 --> 00:06:18.084
Did you touch on utility too?
00:06:18.084 --> 00:06:19.946
Like what didn't you do?
00:06:19.946 --> 00:06:22.767
There's a secret here?
00:06:23.120 --> 00:06:23.903
I'm sorry to cut you off.
00:06:23.903 --> 00:06:24.762
There's a secret here.
00:06:24.762 --> 00:06:37.144
I'm dying to know, because I once climbed 150 foot tower that I had no business climbing, but when I got to the last 10 feet or so the tower was narrower than my shoulders and that really freaked me out.
00:06:37.927 --> 00:06:38.307
Oh yeah.
00:06:39.021 --> 00:06:40.588
I actually never made it to the top.
00:06:42.776 --> 00:06:44.401
There's definitely some sketchy moments.
00:06:44.401 --> 00:06:47.783
Believe me, it drove my mom crazy.
00:06:47.783 --> 00:06:50.062
She hated when I climbed towers.
00:06:50.062 --> 00:06:52.403
She's very happy that I no longer climbed towers.
00:06:53.276 --> 00:06:53.759
Fair enough.
00:06:53.759 --> 00:06:57.925
Is Keegan, then, where you received a lot of your service training, or was that a different company?
00:06:59.377 --> 00:07:01.324
No, so that was a different company.
00:07:01.324 --> 00:07:11.502
So I was there for three years and I enjoyed climbing towers Winter times was rough but it was definitely fun but it was a lot of out of town work.
00:07:11.502 --> 00:07:22.005
So I was living out for a week to two weeks at a time, and so that's why I wanted to get back into residential where I could be local.
00:07:22.005 --> 00:07:27.586
So I started with another company and I had a company truck.
00:07:27.586 --> 00:07:29.802
I was home every night and I was there.
00:07:29.802 --> 00:07:31.098
I've been there the last.
00:07:31.098 --> 00:07:36.201
I was there the last eight and a half years, so that's where I started.
00:07:36.201 --> 00:07:48.266
Our main focus was residential service and they were a service company and that's where I have eight years, eight and a half years, of training through there, wow.
00:07:48.266 --> 00:07:55.646
So then I got pregnant with my daughter and now 16 months.
00:07:56.168 --> 00:07:57.437
Wow, congratulations.
00:07:58.194 --> 00:08:04.947
I worked until thank you, I worked up until I was like 32 weeks pregnant.
00:08:04.947 --> 00:08:06.697
Wow, they did give me a help.
00:08:06.697 --> 00:08:14.754
But yeah, I had a big family and I remember trying to sit down and do floor outlets and I'm like this is not working.
00:08:14.754 --> 00:08:18.225
I couldn't bend or reach the floor outlets.
00:08:18.997 --> 00:08:25.182
Whatever you're made out of, I wish that we could simply just package it, because I feel like we need more individuals like you.
00:08:25.182 --> 00:08:29.144
I mean my wife bless her, she's amazing.
00:08:29.144 --> 00:08:34.586
But I was going to say I can't imagine being 32 weeks and physically doing like manual labor.
00:08:36.076 --> 00:08:36.697
That's just.
00:08:36.837 --> 00:08:41.437
I give you some serious credit, not only for what you're dealing with emotionally, but physically.
00:08:41.437 --> 00:08:42.822
That's really intense.
00:08:42.822 --> 00:08:45.821
What made you want to keep going at those at the late weeks?
00:08:48.014 --> 00:08:54.847
I mean, if you're not here in Pennsylvania, like we don't have any kind of like paid maternity leave.
00:08:55.475 --> 00:08:56.701
So it maxed it out.
00:08:57.436 --> 00:09:02.606
So yeah, so a point of that too if I'm not working, I'm not getting paid also.
00:09:02.606 --> 00:09:15.361
So I was planning on, literally after I went on maternity leave, I was planning on not staying home that long and I was planning on going right back to work.
00:09:15.361 --> 00:09:21.307
But once I had her, I just could not see leaving.
00:09:21.307 --> 00:09:32.361
Like I would be gone 10, 12 hours a day and you know, like six days a week, five to six days, so like there's no way I could do that.
00:09:32.361 --> 00:09:42.344
So that's why I started looking into just starting my own business where I could have a more flexible schedule to stay home with her.
00:09:42.344 --> 00:09:51.361
So that's been working out really well because she's been able to be to stay at my mom's or my husband's parents.
00:09:51.361 --> 00:09:55.605
I haven't had to have her in daycare or anything knock on wood so far.
00:09:55.605 --> 00:09:59.894
So that's been a blessing Really good.
00:10:01.339 --> 00:10:02.962
My why of starting.
00:10:02.962 --> 00:10:22.621
Finally, and I actually I stumbled upon the podcast here and I you know, I hear you guys talking and how you run the six options, and so everything caught my ear because I'm like I do that, like I know how to do that, like I know what these guys are talking about.
00:10:22.621 --> 00:10:25.698
And then you started the you know about.
00:10:25.698 --> 00:10:37.106
You were interviewing other company owners and they were telling me their stories about how they literally started out of their shed and now they're like a million dollar company.
00:10:37.106 --> 00:10:44.807
They did a million dollar in their first year and I'm like you know what I can do this, I can really do this.
00:10:44.807 --> 00:10:47.668
So you guys have really motivated me and here I am.
00:10:48.679 --> 00:10:49.443
I appreciate that.
00:10:49.443 --> 00:10:52.268
We're so grateful, so grateful to hear that.
00:10:52.268 --> 00:10:53.745
That's amazing.
00:10:53.745 --> 00:11:04.548
When you're speaking to sales, then obviously you had a pretty good track record Like what was an average year for you out of your van selling as a service tech right.
00:11:06.480 --> 00:11:09.590
Definitely like on a monthly.
00:11:09.590 --> 00:11:16.869
I could do anywhere from 40 to 80,000, I would say a month anywhere in that ballpark.
00:11:17.760 --> 00:11:18.182
Really good.
00:11:18.182 --> 00:11:21.787
Was that like since day one, or did you have to build up to that point?
00:11:23.465 --> 00:11:28.985
Definitely had to build up, so not right out the gate, but they were.
00:11:28.985 --> 00:11:35.384
I would say that the company was very impressed with me right out of the, from the start.
00:11:35.384 --> 00:11:37.645
I would say they were definitely impressed with me.
00:11:38.960 --> 00:11:45.048
Yeah, I can't see why I mean pretty much everything you said so far shows you're built of a different kind of caliber individual.
00:11:45.048 --> 00:11:47.024
I'm genuinely impressed.
00:11:47.779 --> 00:11:48.241
Thank you.
00:11:49.399 --> 00:11:53.424
We actually we're here for your electric preneur secrets today.
00:11:53.424 --> 00:11:57.249
You mentioned getting a bit of an award before.
00:11:57.249 --> 00:12:00.245
Can you explain a bit of that story and what the award was for?
00:12:02.799 --> 00:12:05.467
So I went to service training school.
00:12:05.467 --> 00:12:09.068
We went for like I think it was like a weekend in Minnesota.
00:12:09.068 --> 00:12:29.328
The company had sent us to and sent two of us Nice and there's a whole bunch of other companies and their service techs are there and they're having you do exercises where you're sitting down at the table and you're like doing a presentation in front of the client, and different exercises as well.
00:12:29.328 --> 00:12:38.386
But they had it kind of like a competition to see who did the best and had the key points and me and my coworker.
00:12:38.386 --> 00:12:39.730
We came out top.
00:12:39.730 --> 00:12:42.668
He actually got one and I got second.
00:12:42.668 --> 00:12:46.370
I came in second out of the whole school.
00:12:46.370 --> 00:12:54.365
So it was like insane that us from the same company we ended up first and second in that and we got little trophies.
00:12:54.365 --> 00:12:57.384
We've got a little light bulb trophies that we came home with.
00:12:57.384 --> 00:13:00.428
So our company was proud of that.
00:13:02.302 --> 00:13:03.245
That's really remarkable.
00:13:03.245 --> 00:13:05.989
What do you think is the reason for?
00:13:05.989 --> 00:13:08.649
Because I would consider, you know, 40 to 80 came months.
00:13:08.649 --> 00:13:12.168
I mean, there's ebb and flow, it happens to everyone.
00:13:12.168 --> 00:13:15.307
It's just those are pretty decent numbers.
00:13:15.307 --> 00:13:23.369
And if you're winning awards too, what do you think are your keys to success in presenting, in connecting with customers?
00:13:23.369 --> 00:13:30.490
Like, if you could boil it down to a few things, Tiffany, what would you say, what would you encourage even your daughter one day to focus on?
00:13:32.360 --> 00:13:38.427
Just be genuine, and you know I strive to be genuine and I truly wanna help my customers.
00:13:38.427 --> 00:13:39.846
You know I wanna help my clients.
00:13:39.846 --> 00:13:40.783
I'm there for them.
00:13:40.783 --> 00:13:44.509
So it's not about you know the dollar signs.
00:13:44.509 --> 00:13:45.783
I mean that also.
00:13:45.783 --> 00:13:47.408
That comes with it as well.
00:13:47.408 --> 00:13:56.885
But it's just like you're writing out a menu for the customer and you know you give the menu to them and they pick what they want on it.
00:13:56.885 --> 00:13:58.345
It's just like you're at a restaurant.
00:14:00.679 --> 00:14:01.162
Very cool.
00:14:01.162 --> 00:14:02.306
I love that.
00:14:02.306 --> 00:14:03.624
That's really good stuff.
00:14:03.624 --> 00:14:05.785
So you offered six options as well.
00:14:05.806 --> 00:14:09.167
You were saying yeah, you know you strive for.
00:14:09.167 --> 00:14:19.748
You know anywhere from four to six options on every call and it's not that difficult really to come up with those options when you know what to look for.
00:14:19.748 --> 00:14:23.110
Especially, you wanna go to the panel.
00:14:23.110 --> 00:14:26.389
You don't know what the panel looks like.
00:14:26.389 --> 00:14:35.004
It could be a fused panel, it could be a pretty simple panel, it could be all rusted out on the inside.
00:14:35.004 --> 00:14:40.466
You don't know until you pull that cover physically off and see what's there.
00:14:40.466 --> 00:14:56.163
I mean I love when the customer comes with you and they're standing beside you and you pull that off and you have something sparking or there's water in there and you can show them step by step.
00:14:56.163 --> 00:14:58.379
This is what you have going on.
00:14:59.634 --> 00:15:04.407
I love that and I think it's really cool that you like the customer following and the reason.
00:15:04.407 --> 00:15:15.240
I do the exact same thing because a lot of times the average contractor if they even go to the panel, they go to the cover, they look, they see if they got any breaker space and they close the lid and they walk.
00:15:15.240 --> 00:15:18.261
When you take the cover off, you'll see amazing things.
00:15:18.261 --> 00:15:28.365
I remember my favorite one was I found a bat literally where one wing was touching phase A and one wing was touching phase B and it was just a skeleton.
00:15:28.365 --> 00:15:30.120
The fact was, I took it off with the cover.
00:15:30.120 --> 00:15:31.504
I was like oh, that's interesting.
00:15:31.504 --> 00:15:43.985
They're like whoa, okay, I wasn't expecting that as a result, there was a sale that came from that, but it was under their volition, they wanted it rather than let's just leave it the way it is.
00:15:44.195 --> 00:15:44.937
I don't care about it.
00:15:46.735 --> 00:15:51.006
Another thing I've done because sometimes you're in a home and you have an elderly client.
00:15:51.006 --> 00:15:52.581
They can't get around as well.
00:15:52.581 --> 00:15:54.961
They have more time going down the steps.
00:15:54.961 --> 00:15:56.558
I use my phone.
00:15:56.558 --> 00:15:57.562
That's a great tool.
00:15:57.562 --> 00:16:05.686
I take the phone with me, I'll record what I have going on and be able to show them safety concerns.
00:16:05.686 --> 00:16:13.028
Then I can go upstairs and Mrs Jones and I can show her on right on my phone.
00:16:13.028 --> 00:16:19.236
These are the safety concerns that I've seen, and I found that there's water getting into your panel.
00:16:19.236 --> 00:16:24.663
That being said, I want to find out where the water is coming from.
00:16:24.663 --> 00:16:31.847
I'm going to go outside and take a look at your outside electrical to see what issues we have there.
00:16:31.847 --> 00:16:33.139
Then I can go out there.
00:16:33.139 --> 00:16:38.365
Same thing there's no duct seal on top of the meter or the cables cracked.
00:16:38.365 --> 00:16:41.303
You can video that all and take it in and show her.
00:16:42.395 --> 00:16:46.004
I'm actually very curious about something, if you don't mind asking about your process.
00:16:46.004 --> 00:16:51.245
Because, normally I don't like to do that additional education as we're going through it.
00:16:51.245 --> 00:16:56.085
I can imagine if you go to the customer and you say, hey, there's water getting into your panel.
00:16:56.085 --> 00:16:58.722
Now, for the most part that's justifiable.
00:16:58.722 --> 00:17:00.159
Someone would say, let's look into that.
00:17:00.914 --> 00:17:01.297
The thing that.
00:17:01.336 --> 00:17:11.526
I've always been worried about is when you create a situation where the customer asks you what something's going to cost, they come through and say, well, what does that look like?
00:17:11.526 --> 00:17:13.790
What do you think is going to cost us?
00:17:13.790 --> 00:17:16.824
What have you found has best helped you in those circumstances?
00:17:16.824 --> 00:17:20.984
You're brought in a situation where they now have something to question.
00:17:20.984 --> 00:17:21.786
What do you do?
00:17:23.056 --> 00:17:25.903
Well, so from looking at your panel.
00:17:25.903 --> 00:17:30.923
That's why I'm going to take a look on the outside to see what is needed there as well.
00:17:30.923 --> 00:17:35.525
Then that'll give me a good idea of what kind of options that I can come up for you.
00:17:36.666 --> 00:17:44.335
Okay, that makes a little bit more sense is where you're coming from, rather than speaking specifically to the thing you're bringing back, the larger concern of like.
00:17:44.335 --> 00:17:50.127
Well, I'm seeing this and our goal is to treat the root cause, not just the symptom.
00:17:50.127 --> 00:17:57.250
I understand you called us because your interior electrical control point faulted, but I'm going to do everything I can to treat the root cause.
00:17:58.414 --> 00:17:59.499
That's why we're going to go outside.
00:18:00.775 --> 00:18:01.958
I like to recover from the same cloth.
00:18:01.958 --> 00:18:02.881
This makes me happy.
00:18:03.442 --> 00:18:08.724
Awesome Good discovery I got to come back to again women's history month coming up.
00:18:08.724 --> 00:18:11.943
There's a lot about this advocacy for women in trades.
00:18:11.943 --> 00:18:19.086
There's not enough people in trades, there's not enough people looking at all sexes to be involved in that problem.
00:18:19.086 --> 00:18:27.984
I really, really want to ask, and I think people would love to know, what challenges have you faced being a woman in the service industry?
00:18:27.984 --> 00:18:34.538
Have you faced challenges with a co-workers or other tradespeople or even clients?
00:18:36.982 --> 00:18:41.373
So everybody's been very accepting of me, especially coworkers.
00:18:41.373 --> 00:18:46.105
I've had really good mentors going through, so everybody's been really good.
00:18:46.105 --> 00:19:06.386
I have had some pushback before, but soon as people see that I know what I'm talking about and that I can pull my own weight and if not as well, sometimes even better I haven't had any issues and everybody's been really great with me, especially even customers as well.
00:19:06.386 --> 00:19:09.325
I had an experience one time.
00:19:09.325 --> 00:19:15.163
I knocked on the front door and an elderly lady opens the door and she goes.
00:19:15.163 --> 00:19:19.684
I didn't want no lady electrician, I wanted a man.
00:19:19.684 --> 00:19:22.356
Wow.
00:19:23.000 --> 00:19:23.762
Confession.
00:19:26.701 --> 00:19:33.708
So I had to say I'm sorry, nam, but I'm here, so can we take a look and see what you have going on.
00:19:33.708 --> 00:19:42.566
But she was great Like as soon as she saw that I knew what I was doing and I could educate her on everything, she felt really comfortable.
00:19:42.566 --> 00:19:45.568
I ended up walking away with a sale from that job.
00:19:46.000 --> 00:19:49.167
And at the end of the fall, the client.
00:19:49.167 --> 00:19:58.002
She apologized and she said you know, I'm really sorry, I just I never saw a lady electrician before, unsimilar.
00:19:58.002 --> 00:20:08.372
But I think for the most part a lot of customers, especially like women homeowners, they do feel more comfortable having a woman technician in their home.
00:20:08.372 --> 00:20:12.791
So I've had a lot of good feedback, especially like Google reviews.
00:20:12.791 --> 00:20:31.385
Reviews are huge, so I'd get a lot of Google reviews and I'd get customers that would specially request me and they I had never been to their home before, but they saw that my reviews on the Internet that were really, you know, really good reviews, so they requested to have me.
00:20:31.385 --> 00:20:34.449
So it's been good, awesome.
00:20:34.579 --> 00:20:36.425
How did you get so many reviews, Tiffany?
00:20:37.327 --> 00:20:41.247
Yes, for that, you just have to ask you, just asked.
00:20:41.347 --> 00:20:41.872
is that it?
00:20:41.872 --> 00:20:42.858
Yeah, it's just taking action.
00:20:42.858 --> 00:20:43.381
Can you email it?
00:20:43.481 --> 00:20:44.183
over and wait for them.
00:20:44.183 --> 00:20:44.926
What Hold on?
00:20:44.926 --> 00:20:48.704
You're not just going to send a blank email and be like I'll just fill it out when you get a chance.
00:20:49.380 --> 00:20:50.605
You'll never get on that way.
00:20:50.605 --> 00:20:52.012
That's not the way to do it.
00:20:52.355 --> 00:20:53.282
So before Exactly.
00:20:56.685 --> 00:21:00.594
I'm going to say I appreciate you for having me in your home today.
00:21:00.594 --> 00:21:05.071
Is there any way that you could leave me a five star Google review?
00:21:05.071 --> 00:21:11.686
And I'll even say that at the beginning of the call that you know we strive ourselves on five star service.
00:21:11.686 --> 00:21:25.068
So if at any point during the call that you feel that you're not receiving five star service, feel free to put the brakes on and let me know and we'll bring it back to make sure we're up to par.
00:21:26.619 --> 00:21:27.423
Gosh, I love that.
00:21:28.019 --> 00:21:32.031
Or, you know, at the end of the end of the today, I'm going to be asking you for a review.
00:21:34.598 --> 00:21:35.019
I love that.
00:21:35.019 --> 00:21:38.140
I want to go one more place with this and it's kind of back to the beginning of the call.
00:21:38.140 --> 00:21:44.238
Sorry if I'm taking us back and forth a little bit, but something that happened prior to us recording this episode.
00:21:44.238 --> 00:21:56.625
You guys were talking about when we're first meeting a customer and actually getting permission, asking permission and if they would like you to share any safety concerns that you found during that visit.
00:21:56.625 --> 00:22:06.949
Can you guys have both of you help walk us through that as a group and just like how important is that step and really asking the client of what they would like to do in that case?
00:22:08.579 --> 00:22:09.182
Laura's here, Stephanie.
00:22:11.701 --> 00:22:22.251
So myself, like right at the front door, I set the expectations with the client, so I told them exactly what I'm going to go through.
00:22:22.251 --> 00:22:28.421
So, mrs Jones, the first thing you can do, you can expect from me today, is the first thing I'm going to do.
00:22:28.421 --> 00:22:31.631
I'll take a look at your issue here with your flickering lights.
00:22:31.631 --> 00:22:42.344
I'll also take a look at other key components of your electrical system, such as your electrical panel, and that'll give me a good idea of what kind of wiring you have in the house, what kind of panel it is.
00:22:42.344 --> 00:22:45.186
I'll make sure there's no safety concerns there.
00:22:45.186 --> 00:22:48.548
If there is any safety concerns, what would you like me to do?
00:22:48.548 --> 00:22:50.883
Sure, I'll definitely let you.
00:22:50.883 --> 00:22:54.330
Be sure to let you you know and I'll bring those to your attention.
00:22:54.330 --> 00:22:57.444
Okay, do you want to start here in the dining room with your lights?
00:22:59.180 --> 00:23:10.449
I love that a lot and if I can kind of break down the process a little bit for you, because I'm hearing the things that you're saying and I think it's really, really awesome which was the first thing was I know that you're using a Mrs Jones term.
00:23:10.449 --> 00:23:13.630
Is there a reason why you can use the first name rather than go for the formal?
00:23:15.054 --> 00:23:16.238
Nope, okay, no worries.
00:23:17.821 --> 00:23:18.704
I didn't know if that was a pretty.
00:23:18.704 --> 00:23:21.351
I like to break things down and understand them as a whole.
00:23:21.351 --> 00:23:29.961
So whenever I see someone who's highly trained, I'm like all right, I got, I got to figure what they know, right, because I consider you, like up here, like you really know your stuff, so okay.
00:23:29.961 --> 00:23:38.066
So the second thing was, as you started off and you're talking about, like let's address the flickering light, right, and obviously we're talking about a generic scenario, right.
00:23:38.066 --> 00:23:42.910
Yes, now, when you mentioned that you're going down to the panel, I thought that was really great.
00:23:42.910 --> 00:23:49.346
I think that was a really highlighted focus, like hey, we have to look at the panel, or do you make it more of a suggestion, like I'd like to look at the panel?
00:23:50.040 --> 00:23:50.845
100%.
00:23:50.845 --> 00:23:52.506
I need to look at the panel.
00:23:52.900 --> 00:23:52.940
If.
00:23:52.960 --> 00:23:54.463
I do not get your panel.
00:23:54.463 --> 00:23:56.588
You're not getting any service today.
00:23:56.588 --> 00:23:57.692
I'm sorry.
00:23:58.421 --> 00:23:59.545
No, I completely agree.
00:23:59.545 --> 00:24:00.669
I think that's a good stance.
00:24:00.669 --> 00:24:13.106
I wanted to make sure that it wasn't like we'd like to see the panel, because that's, I think, where a lot of electricians struggle, where they make it a request but at the end of the day, they are the professional that can dictate whether the customer gets their service or not.
00:24:13.106 --> 00:24:15.484
So, what do you need to be done?
00:24:16.400 --> 00:24:35.873
Like early on I had a customer they just needed like they had a bad outlet and they just needed it replaced and the hub was in the office on a phone call and the electrical panel was in that office.
00:24:35.873 --> 00:24:36.894
That's not what we're interested in Got it.
00:24:36.913 --> 00:24:37.275
It's just so funny.
00:24:37.275 --> 00:24:41.967
I decided to just change the outlet real quick.
00:24:41.967 --> 00:24:53.682
I just changed it hot for them and I think when I got into it the wires were real, real short, so I was gonna spark it just to trip the breaker and it would not trip.
00:24:53.682 --> 00:24:56.021
I was almost welding.
00:24:56.021 --> 00:24:59.423
I was like arcing so much that this breaker would not trip.
00:24:59.423 --> 00:25:04.006
So eventually I get to the panel.
00:25:04.006 --> 00:25:06.142
It's federal panel.
00:25:06.142 --> 00:25:10.101
Oh my God, that's awesome, it would not trip.
00:25:11.595 --> 00:25:19.140
So, that's a good lesson learned, though, of always go to the panel first, because you don't know what it's gonna be.
00:25:20.355 --> 00:25:24.041
You know, I think that's really, really cool that you experienced the federal pacific like that.
00:25:24.041 --> 00:25:27.942
It reminded me very similar, like the first time I was ever told that federal was wrong.
00:25:27.942 --> 00:25:30.702
I just assumed there was, yeah, it's probably not wrong.
00:25:30.702 --> 00:25:33.358
But the person that was teaching me was like okay, let me show you.
00:25:33.358 --> 00:25:43.964
I opened the panel, took a wire directly off the breaker and was like I'm gonna hold this, I'm gonna touch it to the ground and touch the ground bar, and it was like I'm like shouldn't it trip?
00:25:43.964 --> 00:25:47.365
He goes oh, it should, and it didn't trip.
00:25:47.365 --> 00:25:49.779
Okay, great, so do you think we should install these?
00:25:49.779 --> 00:25:50.440
I was like no.
00:25:50.440 --> 00:25:57.160
So the thing was, is the customer seemed like they were giving you resistance about going in, but eventually you went in.
00:25:57.160 --> 00:26:03.057
Now was this after the fact of hey, I'm arcing and arcing and arcing Like, how did you bring it up to their attention after the fact?
00:26:03.974 --> 00:26:11.579
So I think the customer like the homeowner was there, like the wife was there, so she saw what was going on and I'm like this should not happen.
00:26:11.579 --> 00:26:19.500
So once I finally got to the panel and saw that it was a federal Pacific, I was able to educate them.
00:26:19.500 --> 00:26:32.035
And there's even like I think there's a website that's called ismypanelsafecom and, yeah, so in it tells about Zinsco's federal specifics and outdated so like Fuse Panels.
00:26:32.035 --> 00:26:39.234
So that's a great tool as well, because you can show that to your customer as well and they can look it up for themselves.
00:26:40.345 --> 00:26:45.954
Wow sounds like a great idea we always want to leave people better than we found them, and I think that's certainly happening.
00:26:45.954 --> 00:26:48.595
We are going to be mindful of time too, tiffany.
00:26:48.595 --> 00:26:50.474
We may have to have you on again.
00:26:50.474 --> 00:26:53.055
We're super pumped for you in 808 Electric.
00:26:53.055 --> 00:26:56.355
What is the 808 in 808 Electric?
00:26:57.719 --> 00:27:03.944
So again, I'm a dirt bike and quad racer, so that has been my racing number for pretty much ever.
00:27:03.944 --> 00:27:08.022
So that's where I came up with the 808 Electric.
00:27:08.914 --> 00:27:11.539
Awesome, awesome and just share with us quick.
00:27:11.539 --> 00:27:13.599
Really love this interview.
00:27:13.599 --> 00:27:16.344
Where's 808 Electric going in the coming years?
00:27:16.344 --> 00:27:17.941
What do you see for size?
00:27:17.941 --> 00:27:19.098
What are you building this to?
00:27:20.654 --> 00:27:21.617
So we'll see.
00:27:21.617 --> 00:27:23.041
I mean, we'll see where it goes.
00:27:23.041 --> 00:27:24.025
I'm just starting out.
00:27:24.025 --> 00:27:27.259
So I just acquired a van, so I just got a logo.
00:27:27.259 --> 00:27:29.903
I'm working on getting the van up and running.
00:27:29.903 --> 00:27:33.082
I'm literally working out of my own.
00:27:33.082 --> 00:27:37.803
I have a she shed at the house, so that's literally where my quarters are.
00:27:37.803 --> 00:27:47.261
So I mean I would like to be able to put on some electricians under me, so I would like to build my business.
00:27:47.261 --> 00:27:48.359
So we'll see where it goes.
00:27:48.359 --> 00:27:50.261
But like, basically, the sky's the limit.
00:27:50.261 --> 00:27:52.702
So we'll see where we can go.
00:27:52.702 --> 00:27:58.021
But we're just starting out, but I think we'll do well, oh right.
00:27:58.041 --> 00:28:01.317
Based on your track record, I have absolutely no doubt in your ability of bringing in revenue.
00:28:01.317 --> 00:28:09.402
I mean, you clearly seem to understand what you're doing and that puts you ahead of, drastically, the majority of electricians that you run into.
00:28:09.402 --> 00:28:10.779
So I think that's really, really cool.
00:28:11.654 --> 00:28:12.679
Thank you so much.
00:28:13.280 --> 00:28:14.757
Definitely, tiffany.
00:28:14.757 --> 00:28:25.782
If you had any closing kind of secrets or last bit of advice for anyone listening, male or female, interested in maximizing their potential in service, what would you say?
00:28:25.782 --> 00:28:26.325
What do you have?
00:28:28.214 --> 00:28:37.007
I would just say you know, have confidence, practice everything and go for those six options Definitely.
00:28:37.007 --> 00:28:41.839
I mean that'll help you tremendously Follow the service loop.
00:28:41.839 --> 00:28:49.121
Listening to you guys, I mean it's really, it's the secrets, it's the key, Like it does work.
00:28:49.121 --> 00:28:50.138
It really does work.
00:28:51.474 --> 00:28:53.557
I appreciate that board of confidence coming from you.
00:28:53.557 --> 00:28:55.479
Tiffany, Thank you for joining us.
00:28:55.479 --> 00:28:56.784
That's, I'm just gonna mute you.
00:28:56.784 --> 00:29:01.278
If you wanna hang out till we finish the episode, I'd love to do a little.
00:29:01.278 --> 00:29:02.259
What do you call?
00:29:02.279 --> 00:29:02.601
it Close out.
00:29:03.122 --> 00:29:03.481
There we go.
00:29:03.481 --> 00:29:04.103
Close out meeting.
00:29:04.103 --> 00:29:05.986
There we go, guys, I've got my words.
00:29:05.986 --> 00:29:07.682
Joe, I'm impressed.
00:29:07.682 --> 00:29:10.996
Yeah, I love having Tiffany here.
00:29:10.996 --> 00:29:12.193
I think that was huge.
00:29:12.193 --> 00:29:16.260
What would you say from this episode if we had to dish out a couple of action items?
00:29:16.260 --> 00:29:17.513
What are the biggest things?
00:29:17.513 --> 00:29:18.538
Basic and all star.
00:29:18.538 --> 00:29:22.539
What could we come up with here for our friends or electric entrepreneurs who are listening?
00:29:23.410 --> 00:29:27.741
I would say, to start with, the basic option almost ties in with the all star.
00:29:27.741 --> 00:29:30.371
Do you mind if I just touch on both of that's okay, hit it man.
00:29:30.371 --> 00:29:40.741
Because the thing that really blew my mind was the fact that she was already comfortable doing four to six options and, as a result, doesn't shy away from them.
00:29:40.741 --> 00:29:56.258
So I would say, for the basic, it's simply acknowledging that what is happening in this industry is real and that doing the good, better, best, and only offering one or two choices is no longer a relevant way of doing business.
00:29:56.258 --> 00:29:58.474
People are now offering options.
00:29:58.474 --> 00:30:09.961
The all star, though, I think is really specific to you, tiffany, is that she said it wasn't hard creating four to six options, but that comes from the muscle memory and the experience of doing so.
00:30:10.871 --> 00:30:16.915
A lot of times where people struggle is they think that six options need to be just add-ons that you throw on top of the equipment.
00:30:16.915 --> 00:30:21.820
I personally believe that the options come from your technical prowess and understanding.
00:30:21.820 --> 00:30:29.296
When you understand a system and you understand how it's serving the client, it becomes easy to figure out where the pain points are going to be.
00:30:29.296 --> 00:30:35.372
So the basic is simply acknowledging and saying you know what six options are coming Systems are coming.
00:30:35.372 --> 00:30:44.938
In this industry, all star is learn your stuff now, because when it does eventually take full root of this industry, I don't want you being behind it.
00:30:44.938 --> 00:30:46.934
Learn your systems now so you can ride the wave.
00:30:48.509 --> 00:30:49.192
I love that, joe.
00:30:49.192 --> 00:30:50.856
Really inspiring stuff.
00:30:50.856 --> 00:30:53.297
Tiffany's story has been incredibly inspiring too.
00:30:53.297 --> 00:30:57.960
Gents, I got one more little action item and it's a consideration for you.
00:30:57.960 --> 00:31:07.240
Don't miss considering there could be a gal like Tiffany near you, ready to serve at the highest level and really convert on massive sales because of that.
00:31:07.240 --> 00:31:10.791
40 to 80k months, that's no slouch, tiffany.
00:31:10.791 --> 00:31:11.931
You've been worth it, joe.
00:31:11.931 --> 00:31:13.155
This episode's been worth it.
00:31:13.155 --> 00:31:20.619
One of my favorites by far on our mission to help electricians master their sales, simplify pricing and deliver premium level electrical service.
00:31:20.619 --> 00:31:22.296
We'll see you again next time.
00:31:22.296 --> 00:31:24.143
Thanks, joe, all the best.
00:31:24.143 --> 00:31:24.786
See you soon.
