In this episode of the Union Baptist Association Podcast, Eric Cook has a unique conversation with artificial intelligence about one of the most important emerging questions facing the church today: How should Christians faithfully and wisely use AI?
The conversation explores the theological implications of artificial intelligence, beginning with humanity’s unique identity as image-bearers of God and the biblical understanding of creativity. Eric asks how AI can serve pastors and churches in areas such as sermon preparation, biblical study, administration, evangelism, discipleship, and global missions without replacing the human relationships and spiritual dependence that are essential to ministry.
They also address the ethical challenges surrounding AI, including data privacy, pastoral care, counseling, spiritual formation, worship, and congregational communication. The discussion considers both the opportunities AI provides—particularly for smaller and under-resourced churches—and the dangers of allowing technology to create distance, superficiality, or dependence within the body of Christ.
Ultimately, this episode asks a bigger question: How can the church embrace useful technology without losing what makes the ministry of the church distinctly human, relational, and gospel-centered? A thought-provoking conversation for pastors, ministry leaders, and anyone seeking to think biblically about AI and the future of ministry.
The Union Baptist Association exists to encourage, equip, and connect churches as we work together to advance the gospel.
