SELLEST OSAST
Hello Friend.
How do we balance our embodiment of “self” with the awareness of everything “else”? What a curious word: else. This way we define that anything but here, anytime but now while also being used as a threat. “Or else” is a common phrase used to manipulate someone into doing your bidding lest they face consequences. We know that the concept of not being one with something is, in and of itself, a punishment.
bell hooks has moved our attention through the hills of her home and through the hills and valleys of our own experience with her epic poem Appalachian Elegy.
Today we read number 38.
Appalachian Elegy 38. bell hooks toward light each bird flies higher then higher then swooping down as though to plummet as though air a net to catch and comfort who can fear earth who can fear sky when faced with an infinite possibility each moment given a chance to soar to enter beyond
‘each moment given…a chance to soar…to enter beyond”
Thanks, bell hooks. And, thank you for practicing today.
All In Love,
Michael
