SELLEST OSAST
A listener from Yorkshire, UK asks the question so many of us face during deep spiritual transformation: How do we navigate uncharted territory when our tools stop working, we feel lost and can't feel our spirit guides, and we're questioning our own sanity and whole life experience?
In this episode, Amie talks through what's actually happening during these profound death-rebirth passages and why this experience, though terrifying, is what she calls, "The Holy Middle."
Topics:
- The space between who you were and who you're becoming
- Why your old spiritual tools and practices suddenly stop working
- What St. John of the Cross, Thomas Moore, and other mystics teach us about this passage
- Why spirit guides seem absent
- Psychological death and ego dissolution
- Spiritual emergency vs. psychiatric emergency
- A non-pathologizing perception of awakening and activism for the intelligence that flows through us (rather than thinking "something's wrong)
- Shamanic dismemberment and spiritual reclamation
- What comes after the dark night (and why it's worth staying present through the fire)
- Practices for resting in the unknown
Teachers & Wisdom Keepers referenced:
Sanaya Roman, St. John of the Cross, Stanislav Grof, Pema Chödrön, Joseph Campbell, and one of Amie's mentors, David Bedrick
