SELLEST OSAST
What if the “average person” you’ve been comparing yourself to doesn’t actually exist?
In this episode, we explore the ideas behind Todd Rose’s The End of Average and why judging ourselves through averages, rankings, and standard timelines can give us a distorted picture of who we really are.
From the surprising story of U.S. Air Force cockpits designed for the “average pilot” to the way we measure intelligence, careers, and success today, we explore three powerful ideas: the Jaggedness Principle, the Context Principle, and the Pathways Principle.
Why can two equally “smart” people have completely different strengths? Why might someone struggle in one environment but thrive in another? And why do we assume there’s a correct timeline for success?
Maybe the goal isn’t to become above average at everything.
Maybe it’s to understand your own strengths, find the environment where you thrive, and build a path that actually fits you.
Based on ideas from The End of Average by Todd Rose.
