Speaker 1: Well, today Qatar Airways resumes daily flights from Adelaide. It's the second major international connection to be restored after the war in Iran. China Eastern services from Shanghai to Adelaide starts Sunday. As we got told by aviation enthusiast Andrew a little bit earlier. It's good news for people that want to get away. Phil Hoffman from phil Hoffman Travel joins us on five double a Breakfast. Phil, is the European summer back.
00:00:25
Speaker 2: On, Yes, back on, and look it still has been. You know, people have been doing all the alternative routes that you're suggesting that, you know, with Singap Airlines, double daily, Cafe Pacific. I just went recently will with Malaysian Airlines and Turkish Airlines through to Europe Tobrovnik. Beautiful connection with a new new aircraft with their mates, but with Emirates and k that's just going to help. Now we just get the confidence back in people traveling through there. So I think you'll see the two airlines put some incentives in there for people to still do late bookings. You know, Europe's still open and now people are going later and later, So I think it's great opportunity for anyone who's missed out or hesitated to get going and going running up to say the end of October, which is always sort a good time in Europe will so I think we're going to see a surge again. I mean the flight of the planes are full, people are Europe's full, a lot of the cruising markets full. So people are not hesitating, they're just going different ways.
00:01:23
Speaker 3: Did you find a feel that when the war broke out that initially there was a bit of a flurry of calls people who were making Katar.
00:01:32
Speaker 2: Pembo. We had people in on from Saturday night onwards when we got the news, all day Sunday, working through to get anyone that had immediate flights to get them on alternate flights. And so yeah, we've been in action the whole time making sure that no one missed out. Because you're not covered by insurance if you're cancel out on anything, so you can't get there and you've got a land arrangement, you've got to get going. I was going to Africa with the Emirates Dby to Ganda, Nairobi with the family, and I think he stopt going. Ur Perth Suta from the air lines up to joe Berg and then ken You airways. So we've found alternats for everybody to make sure that no one missed out. A few people are nervous, so they'll wait for a while, and certainly it's held back a lot of the booking for next year. But now I think with the confidence of the peace agreement it goes through. I think you'll see the big booking to next year come forward, as they normally do at this time of the year. So we're fairly confident at this stage, and there's certainly good news on Sunday to here that the peace Agreement will take place.
00:02:31
Speaker 1: Field peace is one thing. Petrol and pricing or another. There were a lot of very scary headlines about aviation fuel or what it might mean for prices on planes. What have we seen it do? Did it jump up significantly?
00:02:42
Speaker 2: And if it did, is it no, it hasn't significantly. Will prices never go back down? You know, when they were tacks and there's only one way for prices to go, and that's up. You know, I've never seen them come back down, so I'll be surprised if we do see them come down. They haven't been ups and differently, but you know they're still fairly high at this stage. But you know, we may see, as I say, the two Middle East airlines, you know, Katara and Emirate's putting in some incentives for people to go ya that I'd go there tomorrow, I'd go via that way tomorrow and I'd stay in Bye tomorrow or or dividers. I think they're great stopovers and great pricing. But as I said, and the convenience of going out of Adelaide always, you know, going out of coming back into Abad is just it just makes it easy for international travel. But so yeah, we'll wait and see on that. On that question will pretell you what.
00:03:31
Speaker 3: Feel your line of work. There is ever a dull moment? Is it? No pandemic?
00:03:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, I pember I reckon, I can mark and every year with something that's happened, I say them stuff. Never get super confident because there's always something that comes knocks our head off, you know, over a while there. But but we bounced back. But I think, I think Pembo, that's when we really show our true colors, because you know, we've got great consultants are going to action immediately with their clients and also they're sort of are working around the club twenty four to seven to make sure that no one's you know, sort of been not being built.
00:04:02
Speaker 1: By phil based on the inquiries you get, say editing, we've got the good people of the Adelaide Airport listening or the government, what would be the next direct international flight that we should be looking to secure out about that Japan?
00:04:16
Speaker 2: Well, Japan is the demand for Japan. We put over not we Australia sent over a million people to Japan on travel in the last last year in twenty twenty five. It's the fastest growing segment for US. And certainly you know Vietnam is another one that's back there with a lot of interest. But I would say the best thing that the airport and they satc I know they're in the government, I know they're working on this is to get a direct flight to Japan. Is that's a big market for all of us in travel at the moment.
00:04:45
Speaker 3: Well for you dead right about your consultants, because when I was booking my trip, I went in the monday after and I did this not through any commercial arrangements we've got with you. I did it as a private citizen paying for our holiday out of my own heart and and you're Blake Hamid. He was, he was straight on to me and he got a very complicated series of flights booked in record time and he was a pleasure to do with.
00:05:13
Speaker 2: So Yeah, Mbury's a great consultant. Came from a understand brought him out himself, out now his family, and you know when he first started with us, I thought, hello, you know to what we're doing. And but I refer a lot of my clients from me, some sobers and that to him, and they just love him. They just talk so highly about him. And you know that all the all the team are trained so heavily keep he keeps training them the whole time, which makes them, you know, right on top of it. You know what's going on with the world and also new deals and new offers and that, and but it's it's looking after your client and making sure that and you'd know why you're away. It'd always run back to Amid You're going to action for you straight away to need to change something.
00:05:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely good on you. Phil phil Hoffman from Phil Hoffman Travel, thank you.
