From Racing Driver to Hollywood Stunt Driver | Craig Dolby on F1 Movie & Castle Combe Records

00:00:00:01 - 00:00:19:21
Chris Dawes
Welcome back to Coum TV. With a difference. It's season two. We did 100 episodes started way back in the pandemic. We got a little bit different from now on in season two. It's going to be a mixed bag. There will be some live shows, but there's also going to be recorded podcast episodes, behind the scenes. Just wait and see.

00:00:19:22 - 00:01:07:14
Chris Dawes
We've got all sorts that are going to be lined up. But delighted to kick off the show with a very special guest with amazing things to discuss. From his racing career to his film career that has also broken records here at Castle Q circuit. We're going to have a chat today with Craig Dolby.

00:01:07:16 - 00:01:17:12
Chris Dawes
So welcome back to TV. Craig, first of all, honestly, I've commentated on you many a time here and it's always fun and always ridiculously fast.

00:01:17:17 - 00:01:37:23
Craig Dolby
Yeah, that's how we like it. We like it fast around home. You know, it's this place is special for me. Ever since Nigel kind of let me drive. Drive all of his cars here. Going back to the Riley. It's just a roll circuit. You know, I don't think you get many places like this now in in motorsport, you know, everywhere.

00:01:37:24 - 00:01:59:02
Craig Dolby
It's got tarmac everywhere. And you have it. Software's here. It's raw. It's like as a driver, you you experience the speeds. Still you experience. You know, you can't run off and get away with it. You have to be precise and you know, and then go into the fans as well as special on a bank holiday weekend. It's you see the fans here and interact with them all.

00:01:59:02 - 00:02:01:09
Craig Dolby
It's it's just a lovely, lovely feeling.

00:02:01:12 - 00:02:17:04
Chris Dawes
It is. And people who know me know that that's what I've grown up with as well. And I absolutely adore it. So I hear you there and is equally the challenge this place has got is that whilst yes, everything needs to modernize, you can't throw a baby out with the water, can you? You've got that. I mean, it's charm.

00:02:17:08 - 00:02:27:14
Craig Dolby
I think that's what I like about here is I, you know, it moves with the times. But still when you get that helmets on and and go on to the track, you've still got tarmac. Yeah.

00:02:27:18 - 00:02:28:06
Chris Dawes
The grass.

00:02:28:10 - 00:02:46:27
Craig Dolby
You know how it should be. You know there's no track limits. There's no, you know, to worry about. You just go as fast as you can to what you get given. Yeah. And you know, that's a raw racetrack for me. And, and I get the pleasure to come here and just, luckily drive Dodge and watch those cars around and to the best of my ability, which.

00:02:46:27 - 00:02:53:14
Chris Dawes
Has been some amazing beast. You mentioned the Riley. We've seen you in that that Volvo thing. Wasn't that a.

00:02:53:16 - 00:02:54:02
Craig Dolby
Volvo.

00:02:54:06 - 00:02:54:28
Chris Dawes
Drive position?

00:02:54:28 - 00:02:59:20
Craig Dolby
Yeah, that one spa 12 hour back in its day. That was an awesome bit of kit.

00:02:59:26 - 00:03:03:25
Chris Dawes
Didn't Nigel get rid of that? And then he got. I'm sure it's another one though.

00:03:03:27 - 00:03:05:29
Craig Dolby
He got another one. Yeah. Yeah, he got another.

00:03:05:29 - 00:03:07:26
Chris Dawes
He knew that it was a wicked car.

00:03:07:27 - 00:03:19:05
Craig Dolby
Yeah, it was, it was a fun car to drive. It was fast. It was Joe. Fairly easy as well to, to get to a point to get the extra out of it was a bit on the limit.

00:03:19:07 - 00:03:27:22
Chris Dawes
You saw that? Especially the. It was the pale blue one when I spoke. Yeah, there's the first one. And you were adamant that you could break the 62nd barrier in it.

00:03:27:23 - 00:03:54:17
Craig Dolby
Yeah. I think on the right day. Right of track ten. Right traffic. Right. Kind of tired. Yeah. You know there is is so, so one minute and I'll say there is because that still in my mind if possible in whatever I get given hopefully this year you know but yeah that's the challenge for me is I have to be able to come here after work or, you know, if you're in a busy work here and I get to come here, this is my release.

00:03:54:17 - 00:04:01:07
Craig Dolby
This is my fun. You know, I get to come here and play and and then to train. And that's, that's a big part of of what makes them tick.

00:04:01:15 - 00:04:06:25
Chris Dawes
Which I can testify to have an interview. Do you post race here as well? You're just like a kid in a sweetshop.

00:04:07:01 - 00:04:24:00
Craig Dolby
Yes. Yeah. I mean, who wouldn't? I mean, I am lucky enough to to know Nigel and not only on the motorsport basis, but a personal and a friend basis, and for him to trust me to come and drive some of his cars around here and not just go, oh, yeah, just drive it around and just do a job.

00:04:24:00 - 00:04:44:27
Craig Dolby
He's like, go, go and get the record. And it's like. And that for me is really cool because, you know, not many people kind of give people that opportunity, let alone to go, go as hard as you can. But and and, you know, it has caught me out. There's been a few, especially in a Lambo, a few wingers of I've been taken in the last year in a very rare a.

00:04:44:27 - 00:04:46:05
Chris Dawes
Luxury extra as.

00:04:46:07 - 00:05:01:25
Craig Dolby
Well. Yeah. And then, you know, like I am pushing. Yeah. That's the thing. I come here and it's, it's a release for me as well. You know, I get to let my hair down and, and come and have some fun and, and, you know, so I always like, you know, like to come home and have a bit of fun here.

00:05:02:00 - 00:05:20:07
Chris Dawes
And, I mean, just before we move on to the, like the lap record moment last year, which I know is, is weird, the direction I'm going. But I want to start with that because that's relevant to here as we're talking about it. And then we're going to talk about your racing career to your amazing film career. That is going to probably take up the bulk of this because it's, you know, cool stuff that you've done.

00:05:20:07 - 00:05:28:02
Chris Dawes
But the, the Lamborghini. Yeah. The that was Nigel's as well.

00:05:28:09 - 00:05:30:03
Craig Dolby
Yes. That was Nigel's as well. Yeah.

00:05:30:06 - 00:05:43:26
Chris Dawes
So again Nigel letting you drive these things, pushing you hard to go and get those records and I've watched you do. You are not just like friends. He's like an adopted father. And you always adopted some type feel to that? Yeah.

00:05:43:26 - 00:06:05:24
Craig Dolby
Anyone to ask? I always say Nigel is my second. That. Yeah. You know, he's looked after me for so many years and in racing allowed me to drive so many cars when I wouldn't have got the opportunity. And we've just grown really, really close. And, you know, he looks after you. You know, my parents come along and and they bring him pot pies because I'm from Melton Mowbray.

00:06:05:24 - 00:06:24:11
Craig Dolby
And, you know, that relationship between all of us as a group, you know, like them to Kate as well, his daughter, we just the whole of us just kept on as one big family. And and I think that that alone is something special. But then like, yeah, he's Lambo round here was was pretty cool. Because.

00:06:24:11 - 00:06:30:06
Chris Dawes
That was an old car. Let me just double check. Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 r x.

00:06:30:08 - 00:06:52:19
Craig Dolby
Yes. So like a thing to be precise. It was a 2014 car. If I get this wrong, Nigel will correct me. Yeah, I think it was 2014 car. And, so obviously it's not all got the mod cons of a current GT3 car. So to bring that here and push it to try and get the lap record is is tricky.

00:06:52:22 - 00:07:12:02
Craig Dolby
Don't get me wrong, it's like on a knife edge around here. But that's that's the enjoyment we get. I mean you could give me a Ford Fiesta round here and I'd be having a massive smile on my face. Yeah, I absolutely love it. And, yeah, but that Lambo around here is good. And, you know, we we got to a point where we did get the lap record.

00:07:12:02 - 00:07:17:12
Craig Dolby
We've now lost it by a 10th. But I'm coming back I.

00:07:17:15 - 00:07:36:13
Chris Dawes
I do remember interview when you broke it the first time. So it was on Howard's that Easter Monday that that you broke it. Now, this was a lap record that had stood since 2002. Mark Jordan, when the British GT were racing back here. Yeah, the power tour and all those halcyon days. So and we're not talking so last year being 2025.

00:07:36:16 - 00:07:42:02
Chris Dawes
Yeah I mean that is an incredible amount of time that stood for you to at last take it.

00:07:42:05 - 00:08:03:26
Craig Dolby
Yeah I think, you know, it shows how good the cars were as well back then. Drivers obviously how good they were driving around here and and I think as well now with balance and performance in these GT cars, everyone sees it as a Lambo. But you've got to remember these cars have have always been equalized now. So the development isn't probably as much as what people might think.

00:08:03:29 - 00:08:18:07
Craig Dolby
Yeah. Do you know? So back in the day in GT, it was like right, here's your car, develop it. And make faster, you know, to a set of regulations. Now it's like all the manufacturers go to the balance and performance test and they all get someone.

00:08:18:07 - 00:08:21:06
Chris Dawes
Out to manage that mentioned bolt and all.

00:08:21:09 - 00:08:34:23
Craig Dolby
He's a frustrating part of my life, my career and my end of my career when everything was balance of performance was so difficult because if you're in the wrong car and the wrong gear and it doesn't quite.

00:08:34:25 - 00:08:37:23
Chris Dawes
Work and sometimes it doesn't feel fair, some of the emails.

00:08:37:23 - 00:08:56:24
Craig Dolby
And I mean, there's there's stories and I can go on all day long. But we were in Russia once in, in a race and I qualified last. They realized they got what's wrong, plug the computer in the following day. I said, fastest lap in the race, but because I qualified last, that was a whole weekend. The lights were gone, and that's how easy it.

00:08:56:27 - 00:09:11:11
Craig Dolby
Yeah. And unfortunately, it's no one's fault. It's just. How do you balance all the cars, every circuit, every air condition. You know turbos, non turbos. There's so much to do and it's a hard it's an endless yeah endless game that playing and.

00:09:11:11 - 00:09:26:08
Chris Dawes
It's all too easy. I've been involved like doing say the interviews down in the pit lanes. And you're always going to have someone's upset because they'll feel it's been unfair to them. And and if you looked under the surface, it's very easy to cast aspersions. But you then would have thought politics in motorsport.

00:09:26:08 - 00:09:42:11
Craig Dolby
And oh yeah, no, no, we we go back to the enjoyment. And that's exactly you know, like I like here because we can bring a soft set of tires, we can bring, you know, and tweak a little bit of what we want to do and like, you know, it's not like, right, you've got this sense, you've got this here we can wear.

00:09:42:11 - 00:10:00:05
Craig Dolby
Right. Okay. Let's try and break that record. Let's do you know what's the incentive. You know, like as much as coming here and having fun with Nigel. But in my head, am I right? How can I break out that right. And that's a challenge for me, you know that. I love that as a driver. I look at it and like, I don't want to just come here and drive around in circles, so I do.

00:10:00:05 - 00:10:14:10
Craig Dolby
But yeah, you know, like, where's the endgame? And that endgame is and I think we broke the lap record. And then when we came back, I think afterwards we, we then went even quicker. But then we were playing a go go with another Lambo.

00:10:14:10 - 00:10:16:11
Chris Dawes
Yeah we were and

00:10:16:14 - 00:10:18:06
Craig Dolby
Yeah, I mean, that was great fun.

00:10:18:11 - 00:10:21:20
Chris Dawes
It was wonderful for me in the commentary box. It was such a great subplot.

00:10:21:21 - 00:10:31:23
Craig Dolby
Yeah. I mean, for me it's it's gratefulness. Why? Like everyone says, oh, you see, it's gone. I was I know because it gives me a challenge, you know, it gives us something to aim at this year. Well.

00:10:31:25 - 00:10:53:20
Chris Dawes
I mean, this was the beauty of it. And just to be clear, of course, we should have said this lap record is the GT lap record. Hence it was British GT back in the day. I know the outright, formula three cars and finally that has that. But a GT car and it was a one minute four seconds .101, which is an average speed of 103.89 mile an hour.

00:10:53:20 - 00:11:08:20
Chris Dawes
It's just ridiculous. That includes two chicanes, for crying out loud. But we then get to October and we then had Sasha Kakade here as well. Now he was in, Huracan Evo GT3. So that's some modern stats.

00:11:08:26 - 00:11:10:27
Craig Dolby
In modern G. Yeah. Oh yeah.

00:11:10:28 - 00:11:15:29
Chris Dawes
But he now of course the record show he took it down to a 62.9.

00:11:16:00 - 00:11:16:18
Craig Dolby
Yep.

00:11:16:20 - 00:11:23:11
Chris Dawes
And of course you go it's not you know wait all day for one Busson to come along. It was. But you were there with him duking it.

00:11:23:11 - 00:11:27:12
Craig Dolby
Out and we got a 62.9 as well. Right. But just not quite.

00:11:27:12 - 00:11:29:27
Chris Dawes
In the right. Hold on. 0.956.

00:11:29:28 - 00:11:47:21
Craig Dolby
Yeah. No. And I think that's a, that's the fun of it because not only they see me pushing and then they push, but then it also helps me so that snowballs. And you can see like in the last year we had 2 in 1 road. You know as well three technically because I think I broke it. Then last lap I think he said he did.

00:11:47:21 - 00:12:05:06
Craig Dolby
It was he went and broke it again. So yeah we that that's a fun. And it also has the drivers want to come for a challenge and come and try and beat it. I'm open for that. You know anyone watching this that wants to come to come with their GT3 car, bring it on.

00:12:05:09 - 00:12:12:05
Chris Dawes
Massively. I mean we have so much fun on those days. But here's a question for you then. Can 62 seconds be beat?

00:12:12:11 - 00:12:31:18
Craig Dolby
Yes, 100%. All right. That day wasn't perfect, so it was raining in the morning. I never thought it was going to be a day where if you look at when when I first arrived here, driving all the way from Nottingham, I was like, it's going to be an interesting day. Never did I think by the end of it it would be doing those lap times.

00:12:31:20 - 00:12:47:17
Craig Dolby
So I think on a on a really good day, yes, it could go quicker as well. And there might be a different machine coming out to play this year. And if that happens and yeah, definitely. I drove it last week is a very quick weapon.

00:12:47:22 - 00:12:52:23
Chris Dawes
Yeah, absolutely. That is even given Nigel's, fire back by a sense of what you were telling me.

00:12:52:23 - 00:13:20:21
Craig Dolby
Yeah, Nigel's Nigel always has that fire in his belly, like he talks about this place. And when he's right around here with no chicanes, you know? Oh, yeah. Like so he he has that love for this place and probably the same, like he's probably rubbed off on me. Yeah. And, Yeah, he's, he's got a few nice cars now that, hopefully everyone will get to see one being the BMW m4, GT3 Evo.

00:13:20:23 - 00:13:22:15
Chris Dawes
I saw the photo. It looks mean.

00:13:22:15 - 00:13:44:03
Craig Dolby
It is mean. It is mean. And, I was lucky enough to drive it the other day, and and it is a very nice car. Very well dialed in. So I think already after just doing a few laps in it round here will be quicker than the Colorado. So that is that will be fun because if I can beat it straight away, then what can we tune to do that?

00:13:44:03 - 00:13:57:00
Chris Dawes
I go and I hasten to add, and I know many of you watching me already know this, but of course, a lap record only counts in the race. So then you've got backmarkers, you've potentially got someone fighting with you or whatever else.

00:13:57:03 - 00:14:07:12
Craig Dolby
Is actually it. A thing like what you do is when you know, deep, you've got to do it really quite early on in the race where I really, I feel like I have to because it's not.

00:14:07:13 - 00:14:08:29
Chris Dawes
Not too much fuel in the car at that.

00:14:08:29 - 00:14:28:03
Craig Dolby
Point. But then you've got the fresher tires, so you've got the fine balance of of the tire going off, but a lighter car, or you've got a good tire like in it depends on what day. Because if you've got a hot day and you can get that tire to work in the first couple of laps. Yeah, maybe it's, we can go one minute.

00:14:28:09 - 00:14:29:06
Chris Dawes
Wow.

00:14:29:06 - 00:14:43:06
Craig Dolby
So, you know, I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to put myself under too much pressure, but that's definitely over. Like you said, with a Volvo, I've always said I believe I can drive something with a roof over my head under a minute round here, and I'll keep trying.

00:14:43:13 - 00:14:54:11
Chris Dawes
Wow. And that's wicked. That's what we enjoy. And I mean, you were making the comment that when you are doing that and you're pushing it, the reason, one of the reasons you love it here is you can sense the crowd getting excited.

00:14:54:13 - 00:15:19:22
Craig Dolby
Yeah, definitely. Especially, you know, a bank holiday weekend you can't see like past the crowd. So you go off the start line and everyone's then the moment I start ramping it up, you can see the crowd getting excited. And, you know, as I push there, like you can see the making it on. And even when you finish like that in, like when you're waving to a rival, one's on their feet, you know, and and not as a driver.

00:15:19:22 - 00:15:45:06
Craig Dolby
I mean, even now I've just got goose from just thinking about it. And I think it's nice. That's what we dream is like when I was a kid growing up, that's what motorsport was about. It was about all I can remember. In 93, I went to Donington to watch a test day of F1, and I went to the toilet and I looked to my right and there's Senna, you know, and I was having a wee next to that and I knew he was God in my eyes at that time.

00:15:45:08 - 00:16:07:01
Craig Dolby
He is my hero and I was I not that feel of he is very okay. It's not formula one, but you're the fans are close to the action. We're close to the fans. We can put on a show, we can enjoy it. And now that brings back memories for me. And that's what makes this place really special for me.

00:16:07:01 - 00:16:14:11
Craig Dolby
And every year, even if I am busy with work, I always try and make sure I come back and do a couple of races here if I can.

00:16:14:11 - 00:16:29:15
Chris Dawes
And we love it and appreciate you definitely, without question, just to also add the, the unofficial lap record around here is by that that crazy McMurtry spilling, prototype the electric cars, that of Max Chilton. Yeah. 54.55.

00:16:29:16 - 00:16:31:19
Craig Dolby
That's quick. That is quick for a car.

00:16:31:20 - 00:16:32:18
Chris Dawes
Isn't it mild?

00:16:32:18 - 00:16:50:03
Craig Dolby
Yeah. I mean, Max, obviously Max is a driver and himself that. Yeah. You know, I've no time a max boy back to karting days and, you know, to to hear that name makes you smile is a name in the passport. Then saying he'll know what it feels like to go fast around this place. And they were able to say the same as me.

00:16:50:03 - 00:16:55:17
Craig Dolby
It's definitely gives you that excitement in a car. Yeah, and that thing sticks to the ground like glue.

00:16:55:23 - 00:17:14:27
Chris Dawes
It does. And I mean, hopefully it's that's why we can go. Look, there is something that is going well and truly under the 60. So yes, we can have it in something like this. The outright lap that record is, 58.596, but that was a a single seater S3. You know, and that's, that's a different gravy altogether, isn't it?

00:17:14:27 - 00:17:15:21
Chris Dawes
Like.

00:17:15:23 - 00:17:23:22
Craig Dolby
Yeah, maybe I should bring the, to work car here, you know, bring one of the, the F1, F1 cars and never go.

00:17:23:26 - 00:17:26:02
Chris Dawes
We would love that. Yeah, that would.

00:17:26:02 - 00:17:32:24
Craig Dolby
That. That'd be cool. No. An F3 car around here, a single seats around here with the bumps and the high speed. It's.

00:17:32:24 - 00:17:34:20
Chris Dawes
We call them undulations, by the way.

00:17:34:22 - 00:17:40:12
Craig Dolby
A lot. Yeah. Okay. What? We have a bit phobia. I like the bobble. So they get.

00:17:40:12 - 00:17:41:12
Chris Dawes
Excited. They do?

00:17:41:12 - 00:17:51:04
Craig Dolby
Yeah. They make it a challenge. Yeah. If you put it absolutely smooth anyone can do it. Yeah. You give us some bumps and then the brave has to break after the bumps. So especially in the car.

00:17:51:11 - 00:18:13:17
Chris Dawes
I was about to say I mean that's yeah, that's not even, you know, we've got a big bump, I believe, at camp here. Yeah. There's like a seam that you can't hit, but up. Oh, up. Asian rises. It's not just a bump that is a natural crest. Yeah. And then going to quarry that, that presents a unique challenge to some going at the speed you're going into these GT cars must be colossal.

00:18:13:19 - 00:18:39:27
Craig Dolby
Yes it does. And knowing what we've got coming with a modern GT3 car, how late you can break here again, it's going to be somewhere on that rise. But then as you go up and over, obviously the weight changes in the car. You know, you're also trying to turn left before you turn right. So the weight going all to to the right hand side to then shift all that weight to the left is going to be interesting.

00:18:39:27 - 00:18:53:15
Craig Dolby
And I think that's again, that's the challenge of this place. It's like you look on, you look on a piece of paper and you look at the track map and people are like, oh yeah, it looks fairly easy. This place is amazing. This place is a challenge in the half.

00:18:53:15 - 00:18:58:02
Chris Dawes
I always say there's a reason that that spectator bank and Quarry Corner is packed.

00:18:58:03 - 00:19:17:21
Craig Dolby
I know because I've gone up there out of shape. Yeah. Volvo thinking, okay, they're going to get that money. The help and I was I oh no, just keep calm trade like you know and and you kind of have the drive here. Like do you know you can push too hard and then the lap time disappears. It is really tricky to get in that time of that window where the lap time just keeps coming to you.

00:19:17:21 - 00:19:26:23
Craig Dolby
Yeah. So it's just being the right frame. Frame of mind. Yeah. Right. People around you. Right car. And yeah, it's going to be a full moon I think this year.

00:19:26:25 - 00:19:41:09
Chris Dawes
On another level, because I know we're all really appreciative of the circuits investing in the wreck to sell barriers, the right to sell cushions. That's been a godsend, though, hasn't it? You know, if you do happen to lose it, you're it's a bit more forgiving than it was political.

00:19:41:09 - 00:20:09:15
Craig Dolby
And I'll say yes, I always have as a driver, I never look at a barrier and go, that's okay. You know? Yes, that device has saved me several times in crashes, film career and racing career. And, you know, and so I'm grateful for all the safety. But then as a true racer, I've driven some great historic cars where it is so cool to push those things hard because you're like, if I hit anything in this, I'm going to be plenty.

00:20:09:17 - 00:20:31:19
Craig Dolby
Know I'm not a not as a as a as a driver. I believe that's the true feeling is like you've got a H pattern box. If you miss a gear you lose a second, a second and a half. Now with a paddle shift, everything becomes so simple. Yes, we go in a lot quicker, but back then you have to respect.

00:20:31:22 - 00:20:52:18
Craig Dolby
Yeah, a wall is a wall and it hurts, you know. And so people might lift when go. Then the top boys might go full throttle through that. Yeah that. Don't look at that wall and don't think at all. So yes safety wise has to improve. And it always has. And, and it's, it's amazing when you see some of the accidents and people walk away from them nowadays.

00:20:52:21 - 00:21:12:24
Craig Dolby
But then also I think part of me being a true racer, I might it's like spa pull on a double left. When I used to do that free testing there every Thursday and, at the start of the year, there was a gravel trap there and I could still do it flat and sit. And my teammate was lifting by the end of that year.

00:21:12:24 - 00:21:25:04
Craig Dolby
That's when they extended all that tarmac runoff so he could go straight there and try and try and try. He didn't end up in the gravel. Yeah. And then by the end of that day he would get it full throttle. Whereas before that when it was gravel, he.

00:21:25:08 - 00:21:26:12
Chris Dawes
Was like he couldn't.

00:21:26:12 - 00:21:50:03
Craig Dolby
Do it because if he went in the gravel it probably hit the barrier. Take that was his thing done. Yeah. And that's where I always find as a true driver growing up. Like that's where I made a difference as a high speed corner. I'd look at it and go, yeah, I'll still do this full throttle. Yeah. And then sweets were the same when I went to super, like my engineers were in China once and we were on a street circuit.

00:21:50:04 - 00:22:17:15
Craig Dolby
There's this long motorway straight and they put two concrete barriers and that was all chicane. Oh my gosh. And I looked at it and my engineer went, oh yeah, we're going to be breaking his flat. So if you come here look at it, that's flat. And he looked at me and he was okay. And we went out in practice one, I was 24km an hour quicker over the start finish line speed trap than anybody else.

00:22:17:17 - 00:22:39:03
Craig Dolby
Small. So that I noticed that the team bosses from the other teams were walking up to the chicane to watch. So then after that, I started breaking in, downshifting. So I went to the same as what everyone else was doing, and I didn't pull it out the bag again until qualifying because I knew I could do it. And but you could see, like I was I watching these team bosses coming up and I was like, I know what they're doing.

00:22:39:03 - 00:22:57:21
Craig Dolby
So that's all right. Break down, shift, go around the chicane. If you lined it up and and not for me, it was a challenge back then that was like what? It was two concrete walls and and my teammate and check he clipped one of those walls and had an absolutely massive accident. And it just showed how precise you had to be.

00:22:57:23 - 00:23:12:24
Craig Dolby
But he could see my data so he knew I was doing it flat. Yeah. And and I think that's that's like here like I said, no time limit or off area. But with those barriers it definitely doors. That investment is a need is a more. Yeah. You know.

00:23:12:27 - 00:23:13:09
Chris Dawes
Across.

00:23:13:09 - 00:23:15:16
Craig Dolby
The bigger picture of motorsport is a must.

00:23:15:16 - 00:23:41:26
Chris Dawes
Yeah I mean it's an interesting one. I was chatting with Racing Driver of the year. I can't remember who it was now. It might be might Wallace, but I've got a feeling it was Mike Wallace and he not that long ago, not not only a few years ago, he went out in a, Porsche. I think it was a career, a Cup car, at Brands Hatch, on the full GP circuit and down to Hawthorn's.

00:23:41:29 - 00:23:42:17
Craig Dolby
Yeah.

00:23:42:19 - 00:23:58:29
Chris Dawes
Pretty quick. Right hander about after the after a very quick straight and he was like well off the pace. And he's like I don't understand that he was speaking. He says yeah but look I know how good these brakes are. So I'm braking later I'm at the I don't know what ten meters or whatever the heck it was.

00:23:59:02 - 00:24:18:17
Chris Dawes
And the engineer went, yeah, that's where you break it. It's wet. Yeah. And he went, I'm done. Yeah. That was when he knew I'm out. I'm done here because you to disengage the brain that much. Yeah. Because it it's not about it becoming easier. It's become different. So suddenly your boundaries have extended.

00:24:18:17 - 00:24:29:03
Craig Dolby
Yeah. And I think that's right I think obviously now you look at a racetrack and if it has got run off air in it's safe. Where's your boundary. Will you boundary further along. You can try different things. You can try new things.

00:24:29:03 - 00:24:32:04
Chris Dawes
And there's no real run off at home for that's.

00:24:32:06 - 00:24:42:05
Craig Dolby
Exactly like friends is a bit like here. Yes. You know, especially on the old Grand Prix circuit. It's, you know, it's fun. Yeah. And, and and that's because.

00:24:42:05 - 00:24:43:19
Chris Dawes
You've got to be scared.

00:24:43:22 - 00:24:48:27
Craig Dolby
I think you, you you'd be lying if you weren't scared going at those speeds, right? Yeah, I was trapped. So it's that.

00:24:48:27 - 00:24:50:08
Chris Dawes
Adrenaline though is.

00:24:50:10 - 00:25:12:04
Craig Dolby
It's not that scared is my boss. Yes. Exactly what I enjoy. It's not that I'm scared, like, you know, and it's a negative. That's actually a that's what I get my boost from. Yeah. You know, scaring myself actually makes me feel alive. And and I know it sounds silly, but that's, that's what racing drivers. And if I ride is an adrenaline rush is something special.

00:25:12:04 - 00:25:20:22
Chris Dawes
But to show where it's all relative is that you and Max were talking earlier. You couldn't go and do what the ride is going do 100%.

00:25:20:22 - 00:25:21:10
Craig Dolby
No, no.

00:25:21:18 - 00:25:27:18
Chris Dawes
So and yet they go and do it and they strive for it every single year. So it's everybody's different what their boundaries are.

00:25:27:18 - 00:25:40:18
Craig Dolby
Yeah I mean I watch your team now. I mean awe like you know like you look at that. But then if you put them in a car with high downforce and said to them, right, Silverstone turn one. Oh cops. So cops is flat.

00:25:40:21 - 00:25:42:04
Chris Dawes
They go in charge.

00:25:42:07 - 00:25:45:16
Craig Dolby
You know, they'd be like, no, no. But it is, you know.

00:25:45:22 - 00:26:01:00
Chris Dawes
Well, Rossi took a while, didn't he? Because he, I should be commentating on me again this year at GT World Challenge at Brands Hatch because he's back out in it. But I remember the first year he was there, and of course it was mayhem with all the two wheel fans in watching this, as well as in the Audi R8.

00:26:01:02 - 00:26:13:06
Chris Dawes
Yes. Yeah. And he wasn't great. It was bad. I mean, it's all relative, isn't it? He was better than most, but he was not suddenly, whereas actually he's now got used to it and he's, he's he's won. He's won a race races is.

00:26:13:07 - 00:26:17:04
Craig Dolby
Very good in a GT. Oh he's brought the consistency he's got. He's. Yeah.

00:26:17:04 - 00:26:18:21
Chris Dawes
To swallow his pride though to me for a.

00:26:18:21 - 00:26:44:13
Craig Dolby
While I think people forget how good GT drivers actually are. Yeah. And I think everyone looks at formula one being the pinnacle. People forget a lot of the people. Like in my era when you had Jenson Button, Barrichello, Massa all taking Formula One for 17 years, all of that talent coming through had to fill to someone. A lot of them now are all in GT, all the sports cars and, and hypercars.

00:26:44:13 - 00:27:07:06
Craig Dolby
You know, you look at the hypercar fields unbelievably strong. But GT drivers, you've got a modern F1 driver like Max he. It would be interesting to see what he does it never in 24. Yeah I think he's going to be up there because he's unbelievable. I think he's the best driver in the world. But I think it will show how good the talent around the GT fields actually are.

00:27:07:07 - 00:27:31:01
Chris Dawes
I agree, I think you're right. Just quickly on that and we are going to go back in time of your race career before we move on to all the amazing stuff you did in the film industry. But do you find picking up what you've said there about the F1? Is that the the targets changed a lot, and I can't say now because it's probably been like it for, I don't know, let's say ten years or whatever used to be I want to be I want to be an F1 driver.

00:27:31:01 - 00:27:35:01
Chris Dawes
Whereas now the phrase is I want to be a professional racing driver.

00:27:35:07 - 00:27:35:26
Craig Dolby
Yes.

00:27:35:26 - 00:27:43:09
Chris Dawes
And it doesn't matter what that is. And it's every all the other trappings that go with it, whether it's stunt driving, whether it's coaching.

00:27:43:11 - 00:28:02:25
Craig Dolby
I think from my side, I grew up being one of those that like Formula One, was my goal. Yeah. And, but, you know, it's formula one or everything, and everyone around me was formula one or everything. The moment I couldn't get there, everyone disappeared. And I was like, I just want to drive. Yeah. And that was when the penny dropped for me.

00:28:02:25 - 00:28:25:03
Craig Dolby
And I was like, right now what do I do? And and I think nowadays people see the media outlets are more focused on different categories. Whereas back, back in the day, the first 14, 15 pages of Autosport was all F1. Yeah, great. You know, it was everything was F1, F1, F1 and everyone. But now it's so expensive, you know, and you look at these.

00:28:25:03 - 00:28:25:24
Chris Dawes
Elitists from.

00:28:25:24 - 00:28:45:21
Craig Dolby
Karting like karting. My dad myself used to go and have a kart on top of a Renault is fast five for a British championship. That way nowadays you go where I went not long ago and they're all Arctic drops by automatic doors and yeah, it's unbelievable. The money difference and it's fantastic for it, means that.

00:28:45:24 - 00:28:47:28
Chris Dawes
There's no doubt Lad and Van anymore, which is.

00:28:47:28 - 00:28:54:16
Craig Dolby
A shame. Yeah. Because that that for me is where talent comes from. Yeah. Talent. Just from how big someone's pocket is.

00:28:54:16 - 00:28:55:14
Chris Dawes
No, it comes.

00:28:55:14 - 00:29:14:27
Craig Dolby
From someone that's got that desire that hunger, that belief in themselves. And and that's probably what we're lacking now. And that's why, you see, you know, the Hamiltons, the Alonso's still being out able to outshine quite a few of these other drivers because they would grow up with bundles of talent. And it's nice to see them still there.

00:29:15:04 - 00:29:22:03
Craig Dolby
You still get the some of the youngsters coming through. But when I was on the F1 film life, you'd watch the support races and you're like, oh, that kid's good.

00:29:22:10 - 00:29:28:18
Chris Dawes
Or that kids go off in black. That's now, you know, stepping up. I mean, supporting the guy, you know, you see these young.

00:29:28:18 - 00:29:50:08
Craig Dolby
Men and it's a shame. Like it's a shame is not more of them because I can remember when I race formula right now we're up brands Hatch, Indy and the whole grid. There was more cars and there was places on the grid. So in qualifying, I think eight people went home before they even got to the racing. And I think the whole grid was separated by 6/10 of a second.

00:29:50:11 - 00:30:15:04
Craig Dolby
And, you know, eight people went home. Yeah. And that was like the talent. But it wasn't it. Yes. It was expensive, but it wasn't the budgets that oh now do you know. And that's and I think that's when it really that and there was less categories I think now it's, it's so widespread. Where is that talent was back then it was like they said right from there you go to F3.

00:30:15:04 - 00:30:24:09
Craig Dolby
From there you go to GP2 from there it's formula one. Yeah. You know, and I think now in so many different categories.

00:30:24:11 - 00:30:42:24
Chris Dawes
Which has a fun side to it, but it does mean that there's a lot of I'm always passionate about the talent, especially British talent because we're so patriotic that way. And we yeah. Remember Mansell mania and yeah. And all of those. And obviously the euphoria over Lewis and everything else. We want more of that. And actually we're still doing alright numbers wise, the greatest drivers.

00:30:42:24 - 00:30:48:25
Chris Dawes
But there's a lot of talent that you kind of go, they're not going to make it for all the wrong reasons. Yeah. Which is such a shame.

00:30:49:01 - 00:31:08:25
Craig Dolby
And there is I mean, like I said, when I was growing up, there's probably ten of us that could have quite easily been Formula One drivers and very, very good formula one drivers at that, you know. And none of us got there because there was no opening, you know, because there was like like I said, Jenson, like Rubens, never in Formula One has such a wide spread.

00:31:08:29 - 00:31:26:07
Craig Dolby
The talent just doors to open. And that's fine because they were super talented drivers at the time. But now we're testing being banned. You can't even go into like a testing role and that's why we struggle, was the years we were trying to get there that just banned testing. So you couldn't even go and prove yourself as a test driver.

00:31:26:10 - 00:31:46:22
Craig Dolby
Whereas the last few years before that I had a teammate, Antonio Petunia. Yeah. And he was saying that he worked at Williams and Jaguar's test drivers, and they were doing 28,000km a year in a Formula One car. So when he got the chance to drive in a race, he knew what that car did. And and that's what you haven't quite got now.

00:31:46:22 - 00:31:48:29
Chris Dawes
And they knew what he could do. Yeah. As well.

00:31:49:04 - 00:32:00:00
Craig Dolby
And they wanted to be a test drivers. Now it's like, yeah you pay to be on the formula one program. Like whether you're ever going to Formula one on what you.

00:32:00:07 - 00:32:05:00
Chris Dawes
Know, next challenge or you last two minutes if it's on the Red bull program and then you've got.

00:32:05:01 - 00:32:06:16
Craig Dolby
That, that's a that's a tricky.

00:32:06:17 - 00:32:12:13
Chris Dawes
We won't go there. No I said I'll go. Let's leave that video even drop the paper as I talk about. Yeah. It's, I.

00:32:12:13 - 00:32:12:29
Craig Dolby
Felt my blood.

00:32:12:29 - 00:32:24:09
Chris Dawes
Pressure. Yeah. So did I clearly. I mean, your, as you mentioned, single seaters. You did a lot of Formula Renault. Yeah. Racing predominantly in Europe, I know.

00:32:24:09 - 00:32:43:10
Craig Dolby
Yes. Once there, budgets. Oh, yeah. I am under age like I, I did what I did in go karts. I became my British Open champion. We fought for a lot of then we looked at it and actually it was here thinking about it that I came for a car scholarship.

00:32:43:12 - 00:32:44:10
Chris Dawes
Yes, I remember that.

00:32:44:10 - 00:32:56:19
Craig Dolby
And I got my odds license and my actual car racing license was all through through here at that T car scholarship didn't actually win. This thing's got a scholarship, but that's definitely not mentioned that.

00:32:56:19 - 00:32:57:14
Chris Dawes
Yeah. Move on.

00:32:57:17 - 00:33:20:17
Craig Dolby
At that point, we were like, where do we go? What do we do? Do we do a year in senior karting? But then it's like, well, what is it the right thing? And and then, one of our friends pointed us in a direction of Renault 1600 out in Belgium. We went over there, tested a car, enjoyed it, but was very, you know, very good championship.

00:33:20:24 - 00:33:42:25
Craig Dolby
And in the end, we ended up, buying a car, you know, sponsor of mine. One of my dad's very good friends. One for a fact. Serious. Let's buy a car. Yeah. British teams are run. You over there and, they went and run me over there and knocked race at 15. So I think on my first weekend, I turned 15 on the Friday.

00:33:42:27 - 00:33:46:00
Craig Dolby
So I saw, thought we should have.

00:33:46:00 - 00:33:47:10
Chris Dawes
Very different life mate.

00:33:47:12 - 00:34:08:14
Craig Dolby
Yeah. So I turned 15 on the Friday, did the practice session, which is my first time that Zolder qualified, I think P4 and I ended up winning that weekend and I became, at the time, the youngest ever person to win a single seater race. And that year, of those like Jerome D'Ambrosio, who's now, at Ferrari as a team advisor.

00:34:08:15 - 00:34:29:15
Craig Dolby
Yeah. For for Fred and yeah, he's been at the Mercedes with Toto. Raced in Formula one and, Yeah. So it was very good. Good. A lot of talent. I was very raw because I didn't get any testing. So I've sort of one that I it off and I had a bit of a, I think we came fourth that year.

00:34:29:17 - 00:34:36:04
Craig Dolby
And then I came back to the UK when I was old enough, which I probably had the mistake of coming back to the UK.

00:34:36:04 - 00:34:39:17
Chris Dawes
Oh, really? Yeah. That's where most of the foreign drivers come in.

00:34:39:19 - 00:35:00:04
Craig Dolby
I was very young. We didn't have the budgets. I was in a single car team. Do you know when you look at for Tech and Man Utd back then they had four car teams. So I was in a single car team that didn't know the tracks. You just asking for an up hill battle and then. Yeah, we were like Mike Conway.

00:35:00:04 - 00:35:23:05
Craig Dolby
Joe Lewis had just finished a year before and Renault. So yeah, all of Lewis's data and machinery was around and it was a tough it was tough. If anything, it probably made me drive better. I didn't really I think it took until the final round of the year to get a podium and I did I, but it just meant I didn't have a year where I was at the front all year, and then sponsors pulled out.

00:35:23:09 - 00:35:48:12
Craig Dolby
2005 I missed the whole year. Oh yeah, you know, at 17 years old. So my career was gone, you know. And then 2006, I went back to Belgium, met a team, Astra mega who ran Fernando Alonso in Formula 3000 back in the day. And Micky Van Hall said to me, right, if you bring X amount of euros to the first race, let's see how we go.

00:35:48:15 - 00:36:07:24
Craig Dolby
I was I haven't got X amount of euros. So I was working as a lifeguard back then in a building. Right. So I literally I was borrowing money of all my friends, like £20 here, £20 there and we were talking loads, thousands. I needed to not high thousand. So I was I literally borrowed money off everyone or anyone I could.

00:36:07:27 - 00:36:27:18
Craig Dolby
I'd walk around town, I'll be like, right, could I have a £20. Yeah, I'll pay you back. And anyway, we went to, we went to Zolder and we ended up setting fastest lap. We didn't have a great weekend, but I haven't been in literally not tested, not driven a car for over a year and just plonked myself back in the money.

00:36:27:18 - 00:36:44:19
Craig Dolby
A bit naive, going, oh, I will win this. And then I think we, we came out like third in the championship. But I said fastest lap. By the end of the weekend. Micky Van Hull said, right, I need the same amount for the next race as a. Come on Mickey. Like, you know, and Mickey was amazing for me.

00:36:44:19 - 00:37:08:26
Craig Dolby
And anyway, I found it and we went back to the next round at Zolder, which was the Renault World Series weekend. So you had 100,000 spectators, a big old weekend. And, and Mickey had done a lot of work with the car, had done a lot of work on myself, like lost a lot of weight, like got myself back into racing fitness and, we went there, we set fastest lap.

00:37:08:26 - 00:37:15:05
Craig Dolby
We were on pole, won both races and after that, Mickey gave me a drive for the rest of the year free of charge.

00:37:15:05 - 00:37:15:19
Chris Dawes
Wow.

00:37:15:22 - 00:37:31:12
Craig Dolby
And that's where my career really kind of then took off because he then helped me go into Formula Renault in France a year after we won the championship, but then in 2006 and they went from a one car team to a three car team, you know, it always.

00:37:31:13 - 00:37:32:01
Chris Dawes
Helped him as.

00:37:32:01 - 00:37:34:08
Craig Dolby
Well. Helped everyone. Yeah. You know, and then.

00:37:34:15 - 00:37:43:12
Chris Dawes
Yeah, because I got the stats near 12 races, seven wins, four pole positions, a whopping 204 points win in that championship. Yeah.

00:37:43:14 - 00:38:12:04
Craig Dolby
And that was the thing. And it was still against drivers like Maxime Martin, who's now factory. Mercedes driver. He's been factory Aston Martin BMW in DTM. You know. And so the toughness the talent was there is huge and you know, it wasn't a hard championship. It was a hard championship to win. But with the right ingredients with Astra, me and Mickey Van, whole young, my engineer and myself, we made it look a little bit easy.

00:38:12:04 - 00:38:18:20
Craig Dolby
But it was because we all gelled, you know, and and then we went to France, raced in France for a year. That was a tough year again.

00:38:18:20 - 00:38:20:15
Chris Dawes
But was that the two liter.

00:38:20:16 - 00:38:46:09
Craig Dolby
Yeah. Two liter Renault. And, so then again, at the end of 2007, that would have been my my career was over again. And I think, you know, we're back to where it was. And then all of a sudden this Superleague Formula came out and it was again, I looked at it on a new astronomical are running it, but they're running a, Anderlecht, a Belgium team which wanted to Belgium driver.

00:38:46:11 - 00:39:04:23
Craig Dolby
Something happened at Donnington. I don't know what, but the car caught fire. Driver got out, left the car on fire. Didn't quite work for the team. I all of a sudden get a phone call saying you're in at Donnington. And this was literally on like the Monday and Donington. Was that weekend and I hadn't I thought my career was over.

00:39:04:23 - 00:39:07:02
Craig Dolby
So like the whole winter I was like,

00:39:07:05 - 00:39:09:07
Chris Dawes
Because these were more powerful cars and the these.

00:39:09:07 - 00:39:16:06
Craig Dolby
Were a 4.2l V12 with 760 horsepower, single seater.

00:39:16:06 - 00:39:17:01
Chris Dawes
Way.

00:39:17:03 - 00:39:42:03
Craig Dolby
No power steering and like. And then on boost, I had 860 horsepower. So they were quicker than a GP2 car at some circuits. So I hadn't I was, I think thinking my crazy overalls. And on Monday they're like, Craig, you're you're driving. I've never seen one. So anyway, I drove to Belgium with my dad, had a quick suit fitting, came back then on the Thursday, went to Donnington for the drivers briefing.

00:39:42:05 - 00:40:03:20
Craig Dolby
The championship organizers didn't know who I was like. They wanted the big names, you know, like the Antonio Vitesse. Only there's an all these big because it was a big championship with some big football clubs involved. And, I was nobody. I'd come from Formula Renault and they were like, oh, okay, we don't really want this guy in here because he's not a big name.

00:40:03:20 - 00:40:13:02
Craig Dolby
So Donington was a bit new for everybody. And I'm not going to lie, I'm glad I retired in both races with mechanical issues because I was hanging on.

00:40:13:06 - 00:40:13:17
Chris Dawes
Oh, really?

00:40:13:17 - 00:40:31:27
Craig Dolby
Like I was so unfit and like my neck. Like the G-Force at the bottom, going through the old outside, looking at the sky. My head was falling off and anyway, we were like P5. So I knew I was no, I was fast, but I was so like I wasn't ready. And. And then we had like three weeks until Nurburgring.

00:40:31:27 - 00:40:51:10
Craig Dolby
I never trained so hard in my life to go to Nurburgring. And also the championship organizers had said no one could get a double podium because when you finished in race one was a complete reverse grid, not just a top ten. Yeah, a complete reverse. Great for race two. And I was like, well, they don't like me because I'm not a big name.

00:40:51:14 - 00:41:13:28
Craig Dolby
What's the biggest way I can make them like me is get a double podium. So at Nurburgring I can remember I was still very green and I followed Antonio Soni around, who had come from formula one. So he's good on the brakes, likes carbon brakes and never driven with carbon brakes before. And I awesome braking like ten meters later I followed him round and that was a best five laps I could do.

00:41:13:28 - 00:41:27:23
Craig Dolby
And I'm like, I'm catching him now. I'm like, oh, I'm catching. Anyway, in that race, I did my first ever pit stop, which scared the living daylights out of me. Coming into the pits where people are. I was like, how many am I going to go? DEG and you know, everything was new.

00:41:27:23 - 00:41:29:06
Chris Dawes
I scared them as well.

00:41:29:07 - 00:41:50:09
Craig Dolby
And I'm not surprised. Neither me and me. So I did. My first pit stop came out and the engine is like, yeah, you P2. I'm like, okay, this is cool. So came P2 on the podium. Shake hands of the CEO. Championship is a bit like I was. I'll see you later on as well. And he kind of last year I was like, oh I've got to start 17th now.

00:41:50:09 - 00:42:11:09
Craig Dolby
And I've said I'll see him later on. I was like, oh, so anyway, second race, everything works out fairly well. My engineer was unbelievable and did a great strategy. We jumped a load of cars in pitlane and anyway it was like four laps to go. I'm like P3 on month, okay, I'm on the podium. Next thing I've overtook in speed to go P2 again and stood on the podium.

00:42:11:09 - 00:42:22:08
Craig Dolby
The guys like, yeah, and it was like, you're entertaining. You are. And like, oh, and then after that Super League, then the following year actually paid my budget to drive. Oh really? And

00:42:22:10 - 00:42:24:01
Chris Dawes
Oh that's amazing turnaround.

00:42:24:01 - 00:42:30:29
Craig Dolby
You know, it was just by doing a few things slightly different, having a lot of knockdowns, but we just kept getting back up and and.

00:42:30:29 - 00:42:36:09
Chris Dawes
That could have gone the other way. They could have begrudged you because you did what they told you couldn't be done. Yeah.

00:42:36:11 - 00:42:36:24
Craig Dolby
They could.

00:42:36:27 - 00:42:38:03
Chris Dawes
Be gone.

00:42:38:05 - 00:42:52:07
Craig Dolby
For their championship. I mean, it was great because everyone was saying it couldn't be done. I was like, it can be done. Like, you know, if you could, as a racer, everyone. This is why I don't like people saying, oh, reverse the rubbish. As a true racer, they're amazing.

00:42:52:07 - 00:42:52:20
Chris Dawes
Yeah.

00:42:52:23 - 00:43:14:05
Craig Dolby
Because you have that opportunity to really push your expertise in this industry to the absolute max. Are you quick over a lap? Yes. Can you race? Yes. Can you overtake? Yes. What more boxes do you want to take? You know, and and I think that was amazing then and I became probably a bit of a face for Super League.

00:43:14:05 - 00:43:36:29
Craig Dolby
Then over the next few years, you know the following year we signed with Tottenham Super League kind of put me in with Tottenham Hotspur British club. They all kind of gelled, came second in that year. Following year was big prize money on the on the cards. So all of a sudden there's more drivers for me that it was €100,000 per weekend and you'd go for.

00:43:37:01 - 00:43:54:22
Craig Dolby
So the top six finishes from those points, finishes from the two races, including the reverse grid, would go into a six lap dash for cash. So then it like that slate was wiped clean, and those six drivers just went for €100,000 and the entertainment like 2 in 1 was lethal.

00:43:54:26 - 00:43:55:07
Chris Dawes
Yeah.

00:43:55:07 - 00:44:19:23
Craig Dolby
Because you know you know it's like but and that year I think in total I think we won €980,000 in prize money. And that was the thing that then that came from racing, you know, and you don't see that very often anymore. Prize money isn't a massive thing. And in motorsport, which is a shame, but that I kind of managed to help my own career, you know, it was in my hands.

00:44:19:23 - 00:44:27:17
Craig Dolby
Yeah. You know, in. Yeah. But then again, it all came crashing down when that championship did.

00:44:27:17 - 00:44:46:18
Chris Dawes
And just before we move on from simply absolutely devastating, it doesn't run anyone. You and I were chatting beforehand and you said with social media and all the media outlets now it would be even bigger now. And it was then it was these big, powerful single cities that were liveried up for different clubs. So you got this added level of cheering in support of.

00:44:46:20 - 00:44:59:18
Chris Dawes
Yeah, just being the driver you might be. I'm interested in the driver, but it was all about the team and big crowds at the things. An amazing thing. But the that stopped and presumably that was why that then created a new stall to your career.

00:44:59:22 - 00:45:14:05
Craig Dolby
Yeah, I think to police when that stopped and I mean it was such a shame it stopped the I would have there a long time. I loved it, it was I found my home. I then I tried to carry on racing, you know, like you.

00:45:14:05 - 00:45:14:18
Chris Dawes
Did some.

00:45:14:18 - 00:45:30:27
Craig Dolby
Work. I did some went a couple of rounds of wet, again, the driver crashed car a few times and the team would getting rid of him. They said, Craig, can you jump in? So I did China and Bahrain did a good job. But then the following year, it was like, can you bring X amount of money? Right.

00:45:31:00 - 00:45:55:19
Craig Dolby
Oh, I need to earn money somewhere. At some point in your career, you need to actually put money in your pocket, not leave your pocket. You know, and it's that was difficult then. And then we then I met Nigel, and Nigel started putting me in his cars, you know. So that was that was all the way back then and, you know, but that became a friendship, you know, I never wanted to put much on, you know, Nigel was always looked after me.

00:45:55:19 - 00:46:16:20
Craig Dolby
But I'm never like that is, you know, we go racing to have fun. Yes. And it's evolved. Now, this is my absolute fun time is is coming here, like we said earlier and, you know, we we push, we push, we push. We did a GP2 test. I was in the top five, you know, but then they wanted over 1 million pounds.

00:46:16:23 - 00:46:33:14
Craig Dolby
You know, and so I where do you find 1 million pounds from you. You know, you talk to F1 teams. It's a lot more than that. You know, back in Formula One teams where I knew I could, you know, could you get an opportunity, could you go to Monaco and for something special out of the bag or do you know like those kind of things?

00:46:33:16 - 00:46:34:26
Craig Dolby
Money was just horrendous but.

00:46:34:26 - 00:46:37:00
Chris Dawes
Never tempted with IndyCar.

00:46:37:02 - 00:46:59:21
Craig Dolby
I would have been, I really would have been. But I couldn't find the right people just to get my foot in the door. Really. You know, I really wanted to after the because Super League was the old Champ Cars. So they were so that they were kind of very much American based things. So and we had Sebastien Baudet in Super League who was five times Champ Car champion.

00:46:59:23 - 00:47:21:03
Craig Dolby
Yeah. So that was my benchmark. Like if I can beat him, I can go to America and make this work. But back then again, probably social media F1 didn't really want to know IndyCar. Now you can watch it on Sky sports F1. You know, I watch all the IndyCar races. Back then it wasn't really a thing. So again, my my people helping me here, I didn't really know what IndyCar was.

00:47:21:06 - 00:47:34:11
Craig Dolby
Do you know, because they weren't racing people and I was begging them to send me to go and do a NASCAR test or do an IndyCar test just to try and go over there and prove what I can do. And we just couldn't open that door, unfortunately.

00:47:34:11 - 00:47:49:04
Chris Dawes
And but didn't I hear that it was still, when you were in Super League, that there was a contact that you made during those years that opened the door to what did become your big next thing, and that was starting to get involved in driving work in films.

00:47:49:04 - 00:48:10:18
Craig Dolby
Yes. So I basically what happened was from driving in Super League, I got a lot of people wanted me to coach for teams because of what I was doing then. And, I got a call to go to Silverstone, to coach, and I was, I went there and, and the guy turned up wasn't, you know, kind of 15 year old guy in formula Renault.

00:48:10:19 - 00:48:28:17
Craig Dolby
He was a bit older and I was like, okay, coached him. He was unbelievable. And I didn't really know, like, I didn't know Wade's background at the time. And but we got on really, really well. And what a driver he was. Are you tell him to do something. You tell him to do cops flat, he'll do flat on like, whoa, like this.

00:48:28:17 - 00:48:46:06
Craig Dolby
I had to be careful as a coach because you could tell a 15 year old to do flat. It would take him all day, wave of warm the tires up. And he believed you. And that shows will probably get into that kind of world in a minute. It's a film. Well, but he literally the trust in me telling him to do something.

00:48:46:06 - 00:48:52:15
Craig Dolby
He did it straight away. We had a really fun day. He was unbelievably quick, you know, and they blew me away.

00:48:52:15 - 00:49:12:17
Chris Dawes
And I've heard that that's where it is, is that needs to be a lot of trust between driver and the coach. Yes. I mean, I was speaking to David Brabham. He's done an amazing job in coaching Paul Bailey. Who who, you know, owns these amazing cars. And one of like even Paul was telling me is that the best coaches don't suddenly throw everything at you like a bit at a time.

00:49:12:20 - 00:49:26:21
Chris Dawes
Yeah. And of course the what you can make up is quite significant. And they the buzz they get because we go into self-preservation that we as human beings. Yeah. You make us realize that you're actually being more safe and you need to be 100%.

00:49:26:21 - 00:49:46:20
Craig Dolby
And that's the thing. Like, you can't expect someone that has a 9 to 5 job in the week to jump in a racing car and do something that we've grown up since three years old doing. You can't expect anyone to do that. So you have to learn their best points, their weakest points and go right. Well, hang on, let's just get this bit right.

00:49:46:20 - 00:50:03:23
Craig Dolby
Let's get this bit right. Let's even if it's not the fastest, but they're having fun, then they'll go quicker because they're having fun now and it's just getting to know somebody. So I got to know Wade really well. And then, you know, we went go karting together for a bit of fun afterwards I, we, we met up a few times.

00:50:03:27 - 00:50:24:17
Craig Dolby
He came to my birthday meal and we really gelled. And you know, obviously at that point I knew what he did, but I never really looked and thought, is, would Wade offer me a job? And then all of a sudden I got a phone call saying, do you fancy coming to Morocco? And I was like, well, yes, I'll go.

00:50:24:17 - 00:50:56:05
Craig Dolby
And so anyway, I went off to to Morocco, were filming Mission Impossible five, and back then it was like I wasn't a hero driver. Like I turned up and I got to learn how the film industry works because, like, you can't expect to walk into that world where there is unbelievable talent and and then go, right, you're going to be driving the top cars, but you then have to learn how camera works, how how they want things filming, how and and Wade really taught me every last detail of that.

00:50:56:05 - 00:50:57:17
Chris Dawes
So he did that work.

00:50:57:17 - 00:50:59:25
Craig Dolby
And so yeah, he was the second unit director.

00:51:00:00 - 00:51:02:00
Chris Dawes
Oh right. Okay. So he wasn't in the car.

00:51:02:01 - 00:51:23:10
Craig Dolby
But Wade has been a very good stuntman. Oh from word go and built his career up parallel to say my racing career. Yeah. And then we've met pyramids and I always say it's a pyramid because I love the film world. And you know, I can't imagine doing much else, you know, and and Knight Wade is unbelievable at what he does.

00:51:23:10 - 00:51:51:24
Craig Dolby
And, and when I sat in the passenger seat through the streets of Marrakesh and, I was blown away, like how he made it look lively for camera, like we were going through baskets. We were sliding towards. I was like, I want to do this. And and it was a massive eye opener for me to be like, wow, this is an industry that if I really work hard at money, can't buy a place where I am right now.

00:51:51:24 - 00:52:13:11
Craig Dolby
I'm getting paid to be here. Like if I work hard, I can be here. And that's where it all started. You know, Wade Eastwood got me into this world and start this year. Will pay for an award. I flew out to L.A. for, the Critics Choice Awards. He was doing Mission Impossible. I was doing F1 and he visas for.

00:52:13:12 - 00:52:14:24
Craig Dolby
I'm quite happy for him.

00:52:14:27 - 00:52:15:21
Chris Dawes
I think he deserved.

00:52:15:22 - 00:52:41:14
Craig Dolby
He got me into the industry, not in the lot, but you know, and then after that you start working with directors and, and stunt coordinators from bonds, from all these great films. And I'm just in awe of them, like they've taught me so much over the years. And it's an industry where I never, ever thought I'd been. But now on that, it's absolutely mind blowing and and something special.

00:52:41:20 - 00:52:58:20
Chris Dawes
Because it's not just, okay, we've got this scene where you need to go through the streets of America and do this, this and this from what we were talking about earlier. And we'll come on to the what I class is the big one because everybody will know it right now, the F1 movie, but way before that is that you will have to put a lot of hours in.

00:52:58:27 - 00:53:03:17
Chris Dawes
Yeah. In the cars, the scene choreography is out.

00:53:03:19 - 00:53:22:00
Craig Dolby
On F1, but again, from when I first went there with mission, it was just like, right, you just drive down here at 30 miles an hour, I get told what to do. I did it, you know, you learn, you learn what the best guys are doing. So then you kind of build yourself up. As years have gone on, you and your input all like when we race the car does it.

00:53:22:00 - 00:53:41:03
Craig Dolby
So, you know, so you bring a lot of things I've learned from racing and because like, well, actually if you're doing that speed, the car will react different. So it look slightly different. And then people started listening, you know, and snowball kind of started getting bigger. I did some pretty cool driving stuff on, on a few of the films.

00:53:41:03 - 00:54:11:29
Craig Dolby
And then, GranTurismo being one of them was really fun. Driving the P2 cars in Gran Turismo. And then obviously going into F1, it was like, right, here's a script like, how do you make what they want on the script to look like racing in real life, like with movie cameras around? And I was lucky because like, I worked very closely with Luciano Borchetta, who's like one of my best friends, and we've grown up in motorsport together.

00:54:12:01 - 00:54:48:28
Craig Dolby
We also we've got Loach on his first job in, mission five. So we were like, we started in the in this film industry together. And Luke was the sequence coordinator, you know, and I kind of helped him with that. As additional sequence coordinator, you know, we'd have a script and both here we sat in London on a simulator in Nottingham on the simulator and, and we were coming up with things and like trying them on the simulators, even down to putting cameras where they wanted cameras to see certain bits on the, on the simulator of a car flashing by, or two cars coming by, and then seeing how easy it would be to film

00:54:48:28 - 00:55:08:21
Craig Dolby
it, how, you know, and then we'll give the reports back. And, you know, the two of us have just then evolved, like when you look back in 2014 to to now, we so it's an unbelievable career. But then also something I get to travel with one of my best mates all around the world doing some cool stuff.

00:55:08:21 - 00:55:18:22
Chris Dawes
So I'm. You were saying that. I mean, I think it is easy to focus on F1 now because it's a here and now, but I mean, how long? So we got to see that. When did it come out? It's not long ago.

00:55:18:22 - 00:55:21:01
Craig Dolby
Came out last mid last year.

00:55:21:02 - 00:55:27:17
Chris Dawes
Middle last year. Yeah. But the work started way well I think I interrupted the pandemic as well was that I.

00:55:27:17 - 00:56:01:18
Craig Dolby
Got the phone call in in 20 from in mid 22. It came around saying how many drivers like we need a poll of drivers okay. But then after that phone call it changed that like second unit direct, everything changed. So it was put my name was still there. Yeah. So it was very nerve wracking times. If someone comes along to you and says, here's an we're going to film F1, that is like my dream, you know, like it's the two blends.

00:56:01:21 - 00:56:07:15
Chris Dawes
Bearing in mind we've already had the conversation of you, we're next to Ayrton Senna and he was your god. Now you're allowed to do an F1 movie.

00:56:07:15 - 00:56:26:06
Craig Dolby
It was my so I didn't want to lose that. But then it changed hands a few times. Always like I made sure that like my name was there. Then the person that actually got it was New Lewis very well. And then Joe Lewis was always going to be my first driver out. I'll take it. And then Lewis, like, vouched for me.

00:56:26:06 - 00:56:47:28
Craig Dolby
So we vouched for each other and, so we still got on it. And so we started actually filming would have been 2024. So coaching the drivers. No. 23. Sorry, it would have been. Yeah, exactly. Yes. 23. Yes. So 23 we started with the a three cars at Rockingham building them off.

00:56:48:00 - 00:56:49:01
Chris Dawes
That was closed.

00:56:49:01 - 00:56:55:15
Craig Dolby
That was closed. That was we were it was like a ghost town. Yeah. You're driving to Rockingham and there is like no one there. And we're just.

00:56:55:17 - 00:56:56:22
Chris Dawes
Still usable then.

00:56:56:22 - 00:56:59:19
Craig Dolby
Yeah, it's very slippery for the first few days.

00:56:59:20 - 00:57:03:09
Chris Dawes
Because that was used for a long time. When it closes it's fleet car storage.

00:57:03:09 - 00:57:09:25
Craig Dolby
Place and you could tell like there was where all the cars had been parked, all the tarmac was different colors and. Yeah. So so it's.

00:57:09:25 - 00:57:11:13
Chris Dawes
A travesty that place. Yeah.

00:57:11:13 - 00:57:30:02
Craig Dolby
I mean, it was cool driving around. That one was like, hey, opened my eyes. I was, I after about five laps, I'm like, my head's like next hanging off. I'm like, wow. Because obviously on a film, normally you get a scene and it's like, drive down the road, go round a few streets. You know, this was like, right, do lap after lap after lap.

00:57:30:07 - 00:57:35:02
Craig Dolby
And I'm like, wow, this is fitness wise, it's for a intense.

00:57:35:05 - 00:57:40:18
Chris Dawes
So what were you doing when this was happening? Was were you establishing scenes or were you coaching the likes of Brad Pitt?

00:57:40:19 - 00:57:57:09
Craig Dolby
Both. You know, we we knew by the time we got the, the, the actors and Brad and Damson there, we really roughly knew what we were going to be doing film wise. Okay. So then even at Rockingham, move like, right, let's get close. Let's get them used to being around each other. Like how this.

00:57:57:09 - 00:57:58:10
Chris Dawes
Wasn't filming yet.

00:57:58:10 - 00:58:27:12
Craig Dolby
No, this wasn't filming. This was a lot of weeks of just trying to teach them how to draw. That Brad is very good, accomplished. I've a damson driven a road car. So again, going back to coaching, you've got two very different drivers that you need to get to. One end goal. Yeah. And between Loach, myself, Duncan Tappy, Jonathan Kennard, Jordan Albert like we we have we had a very good group of drivers that we put together that that really made that film work well.

00:58:27:15 - 00:58:42:18
Craig Dolby
It was it was hard like knowing that you not only got to make them drive around the track at speed, but then they've got to do all their lines there, you know, and we had to know that as well because, you know, if I had to look in a certain mirror, we would be behind them and make them move a car.

00:58:42:18 - 00:59:03:09
Craig Dolby
So they saw us in the mirror so their head would look, you know, and you'd, you know, like if they didn't do it, you'd be like, right, remember, mirror over the radio and, you know, like you'd be telling them, right, third gear here, brake here and let's you've got to defend here. And they would know where they needed to be, you know, and you'd get close to them and they'd have a lock up and you're like, oh, this is for.

00:59:03:11 - 00:59:28:27
Craig Dolby
And all of that was six cameras on the cars all rotating at different points to get different scenes. Yeah. And then like one corner you'd be in alpine, one corner would be the apex car, you know, another corner would be a Ferrari. And like, the way that, like Lewis and myself had done it was that, you know, like to to excite the Grand Prix, for instance, when we filmed at the Grand Prix, like we needed the crowds, but F1 would give us five minutes.

00:59:28:27 - 00:59:52:18
Craig Dolby
So technically we had three, maybe four laps if we could push it to get a whole sequence in. So like we were doing corner by corner. So from the script it was like, right, well, this corner where an apex car, then the next lap or next corner, sorry, he would like Lewis would be a, an alpine and I'd be a Ferrari and would do a move, and then Duncan would come through with camera pretending to be an apex car.

00:59:52:20 - 01:00:06:10
Craig Dolby
And it was I. But we had so many different seat like little bits into the details to make it that. So dynamic that I think a lot of people didn't quite, you know, behind the scenes was was interesting to get it all filmed.

01:00:06:12 - 01:00:20:04
Chris Dawes
The big thing that jumps out at me, there is that there's this understandable, I'm gonna say cynicism. I don't know whether it needs to be a derogatory, feeling, but the assumption will be that it's CGI.

01:00:20:12 - 01:00:21:03
Craig Dolby
Yeah.

01:00:21:05 - 01:00:25:05
Chris Dawes
But you guys really focus on authenticity here. Yes.

01:00:25:05 - 01:00:46:21
Craig Dolby
So the main bit that actually got changed was they skin the cars. So it wasn't as such as, so like, say the turn one at Silverstone on the grid, we only had 3 or 4 cars at one time. So I would, I would watch a sequence from a formula one race that we were going to use, and we knew where our car had to be.

01:00:46:24 - 01:00:53:28
Craig Dolby
So when we were filming it, I would leave a car, it's going into the corner so they could put our real car into F1 footage.

01:00:53:28 - 01:00:54:13
Chris Dawes
Yes.

01:00:54:19 - 01:01:12:00
Craig Dolby
And so there was a lot of that. There was also a lot of flying different cars. So where they thought people saw, oh, it's just been CGD and we actually played that role and they just changed the skin of our cars. Yeah. Yeah. So you know it was, it was so. Yeah. And we would like the right hour.

01:01:12:01 - 01:01:28:02
Craig Dolby
I explained it to people like it was the right arrows. Like there'd be the four of us on the track. And when it was just a stunt boys, you know, we'd be like, right, dive here. And like, we knew who was diving in there would be like, you'd know it was on. And you know how the red arrows have sex noises?

01:01:28:02 - 01:01:44:08
Craig Dolby
We would have our certain kind of technology just to make a move happen on camera. And, you know, you'd see a camera start to move you, and then you'd be like, oh, I've got to be there. And it was like you'd send it there. And it was just one of those moments, one of those films that just was really special of Joe.

01:01:44:08 - 01:02:07:01
Craig Dolby
The director was workflows that he was unbelievable, so open and told us what he wanted to get. We have Gary Powell, who is Bond's, worked on bond for many, many a year, one of the best stunt stunt men, stunt coordinator, second unit director in the industry. He was working with us closely on watching the monitors, making sure we were in shot all the time.

01:02:07:03 - 01:02:29:13
Craig Dolby
You know, we just had a great group of people then created something that was quite unique. And not only I got to go to Daytona as well, and we went to Vegas. We drove down the strip flat out on the rev limiter at 200 miles an hour, you know, 3:00 in the morning through just some of the experiences that film gave us.

01:02:29:13 - 01:02:33:23
Craig Dolby
And I probably did more miles on that film than I did in my racing career.

01:02:33:26 - 01:02:36:11
Chris Dawes
Yeah, you told me that. And that is a staggering stunt.

01:02:36:15 - 01:03:00:15
Craig Dolby
They had so many hours of footage, but I think, I think I did something like 8000km. And, it's incredible to film work, you know, and plus all the testing before that, all the development work. And do you know, they just did an amazing job. They really pushed for it to be authentic. And then, you know, having Lewis and myself there at the start really helped that, you know, hit the ground running.

01:03:00:15 - 01:03:19:07
Craig Dolby
But then, you know, Lewis was that, you know, those who come in the garage and watch a lot of the drivers who come in and watch him was saying to, to Max early, like, Abu Dhabi ended up that F1 got that involved that Charles and George actually did a start for us with us. So for the cameras.

01:03:19:07 - 01:03:35:17
Craig Dolby
So we didn't so extra of our cars in, we actually had George and Charles on the grid with us or like just look after us because our cars aren't quite as quick as the F1 cars. Yeah. And yeah. And they were great. They like went up, down into turn one. Charles was fully locked up and we had it.

01:03:35:24 - 01:03:37:26
Craig Dolby
You know, they played a great job in it as well.

01:03:37:26 - 01:03:47:11
Chris Dawes
And I think because by that point they was there a a period of time when you had to get the real F1 world to take you seriously.

01:03:47:11 - 01:03:48:25
Craig Dolby
I think at the start, because.

01:03:48:27 - 01:03:54:22
Chris Dawes
You see all these things come about, we're going to do this. But they took a while to see that, oh, this is the real deal.

01:03:54:24 - 01:04:13:14
Craig Dolby
Yeah. I mean, you you probably know as much as I do like trying to put a small film crew, even in a racing paddock, is really difficult. Trying to have probably 400 people of a costume of, like, camera, all these different departments.

01:04:13:14 - 01:04:14:12
Chris Dawes
On a racetrack.

01:04:14:12 - 01:04:32:10
Craig Dolby
In total, probably, I think Silverstone, it was over a thousand to start with. And then as we traveled, it's probably like probably a good 400 people every weekend. We went away. Yeah. And of all the different, different departments trying to get them to work in an F1 paddock seamlessly without causing any chaos.

01:04:32:11 - 01:04:38:27
Chris Dawes
I can't get my head on service. And how that would even was eat. Where were you all base thing hiding?

01:04:39:00 - 01:04:45:14
Craig Dolby
Yeah. So we were based just as you go in Sisto yeah, we're in a marquee that that was where costume and.

01:04:45:14 - 01:04:46:03
Chris Dawes
Everything, man.

01:04:46:04 - 01:05:03:00
Craig Dolby
Filter out for the names involved. Yeah, yeah. Okay. And then we had a garage in F1 pit lane. The whole. Did you see where our cars were? Yeah. And then we used, we had two garages where our race cars were that we were filming from in the old pit lane next to the GP, the F2 sport paddock.

01:05:03:00 - 01:05:03:17
Chris Dawes
Right.

01:05:03:17 - 01:05:22:11
Craig Dolby
So we were spread out a little bit. So we were getting out, going in the shuttle, two monitors which were in the new pit lane, watching monitors, going back, having a bite to eat, going back to our cars, getting ready for our next run when in between an F2 in an F3 race. Yeah, yeah. And going out and having that.

01:05:22:13 - 01:05:28:00
Chris Dawes
And of course a big one of that British Grand Prix is that you were at the back of the field for the real star.

01:05:28:05 - 01:05:38:00
Craig Dolby
Yeah, that was probably the highlight. And I don't think in the film industry. Oh yeah. You just got to pull away on the grid. The pressure of pulling away on a formula One grid. I was a.

01:05:38:00 - 01:05:39:04
Chris Dawes
Few people watching.

01:05:39:06 - 01:06:01:22
Craig Dolby
Just a few people watching, including my mum and dad, like, so they're in the DC grandstand and it was like, because I obviously it's not only my dream since I was a kid, my dad is also supported me, my my parents, my sisters since I was three years old. And so my mum and dad was sat there in the grandstand and that I think it was a proud moment for them.

01:06:01:22 - 01:06:20:13
Craig Dolby
But I was like, if I still here, I've delayed formula one, I'm live on telly, I'm like, I've ruined all shots, which was a main important thing to get because you have to pinch yourself off. Still, I've got a head camera on, so I'm sat in the car with a camera. I can see just under the visor here with the camera on.

01:06:20:13 - 01:06:38:20
Craig Dolby
And I've got to remember, I've got to look down at steering wheel, do certain actions on the steering wheel which were in the film. Yeah, while I'm on the grid of formula one, trying to take that in as well, thinking, oh my goodness, this is where I've always dreamed to be. All the mechanics pulled off and I'm like, sat there going, oh, was I?

01:06:38:22 - 01:06:58:00
Craig Dolby
Oh yeah, that was all right. I've got to do this style at this point. And then, you know, and then F1 were like, do not mess at all. Go with everyone else. All the storyline and the film track weights. Yeah. So you know, sunny weights in the grid. So I'm like F1, I'm like, do not wait, I'm not Joseph Craig White.

01:06:58:03 - 01:07:00:15
Craig Dolby
I'm like, oh, who do, who do? I'll say.

01:07:00:19 - 01:07:00:27
Chris Dawes
Say.

01:07:01:01 - 01:07:24:21
Craig Dolby
Yeah, my boss or formula one. And yeah, I was like, if I don't mess this up I can wait. So the pressure was huge. Yeah. And we got it right and we did it all good. And, and I think just slowly building up with those the like we always had like two advisors from F1 with us and like you as long as you explained what you wanted to achieve they really worked hard for us to achieve it.

01:07:24:21 - 01:07:30:22
Craig Dolby
And and you know, it's F1 man's name as well as our name on the lines, you know, put their name to it. Yeah.

01:07:30:23 - 01:07:34:02
Chris Dawes
Because it's the full one. Isn't the full symbol as it is.

01:07:34:05 - 01:07:54:29
Craig Dolby
And I think you look at it when it first was going to come out, it was only going to come out to streaming after Silverstone. All of a sudden everyone was like, oh, actually, this could be quite good. And we kind of like went into the unknown with it because no one's actually done a racing movie at F1 events at those speeds, like we're doing 200 miles an hour with cameras on the cars.

01:07:55:05 - 01:08:10:03
Craig Dolby
It's just it's insane. Like with the actors. Yeah. You know, and it was Top Gun on Wheels. Yeah, yeah. And you know, you that's how you explained it. Like, you know, Joe did an amazing job on Top Gun. He also did an amazing job on. Yeah, on Formula one. So yeah.

01:08:10:03 - 01:08:11:18
Chris Dawes
What Lewis was involved in. Yeah.

01:08:11:18 - 01:08:18:18
Craig Dolby
Lewis was, you know, Lewis was there, I think, yeah, he got involved a lot like Lewis because.

01:08:18:18 - 01:08:20:02
Chris Dawes
Weren't they trying to make out he's.

01:08:20:02 - 01:08:42:20
Craig Dolby
A producer? Yeah, and and, you know, everyone always just for a name. He was. He was good as well. Like. Yeah. Just on a little authentic bits. Like he'll go like, selfishly, we're in F2 engined cars and have lot always through here in this gear or the sound. He just knew instantly those little details and no stone unturned.

01:08:42:22 - 01:09:05:26
Craig Dolby
And so to have Lewis had to make sure that all of those details, you know like Lotus obviously been Williams F1 test driver. He's done what he's done in racing often what I've done in my racing, we wanted it to be as authentic as it could be, but having Lewis Pullman see it race and then literally come and watch him monitor, yeah, it was instant, you know, it was you know, it was amazing really.

01:09:05:26 - 01:09:14:27
Chris Dawes
But the end. So you've done that F1 that style off the grid with the full crowd there. The terror. And you pulled it off. The race hadn't even finished and you were already up.

01:09:14:27 - 01:09:34:04
Craig Dolby
Yeah we were off straight off to Hungary then for testing because we were shooting there in a few weeks. So they wanted to get testing in the F3 cars to learn the circuits, because obviously you go into these circuits in and brought in dams and hadn't driven these circuits before, and then all of a sudden you don't want them to get there when there's 100,000 people there and not know the tracks.

01:09:34:04 - 01:09:48:01
Craig Dolby
And also the more you could get them up to speed when the cameras are on and the more realistic it looks. So you know, they're pulling together, you know, and the faster we could get them to drive, the better it was for the end product.

01:09:48:01 - 01:10:02:01
Chris Dawes
Because there's a key authenticity point I want to pick up on is that, yes, there are points where it was you as, say, brand stunt double. Yeah, but there was a lot when he had been coached by you that he was genuinely you in that driving.

01:10:02:03 - 01:10:02:20
Craig Dolby
Definitely.

01:10:02:20 - 01:10:04:01
Chris Dawes
And I mean it was like that.

01:10:04:02 - 01:10:23:24
Craig Dolby
But yeah, there was no face replace on it like we talked about it. And you know, obviously you have to talk about these things when you're driving at those speeds and, and in the end, they did such a great job that as long as you, you know, they would follow us around, we'd always be there, like one of Luke or myself, you know, would always be there.

01:10:23:26 - 01:10:40:14
Craig Dolby
So if Tamsin was on track, I'll be playing Brad. If if, Brad was on the track, Luke would be playing. That was insane. Just so that we could always be there. We can play in the moments, you know, they were always had someone with them, but pushing them to get the end product to be a different level.

01:10:40:15 - 01:10:54:13
Chris Dawes
And what was their take on this? I mean, especially, I mean, Brad, I can imagine that he was loving all of that. Yeah. But Damson, these that that opened up a whole new world of challenges for him. What was his final take on? What was his take throughout? And at the end?

01:10:54:16 - 01:11:20:29
Craig Dolby
I think to start with, I can remember we went to go karting with him and I think it kind of like we all kind of it opened there where I saw, while this is going to be a a project that's really, you know, to go from having someone that's never driven a race car properly, to then be driving effectively on an F1 weekend in three months, how are you going to make that work?

01:11:21:00 - 01:11:39:24
Craig Dolby
And you know, and Damson was unbelievable. Like even to the point that when we're at Rockingham we went and played football with all the mechanics. And you know he embraced himself in there. And same with Brad. Brad embraced himself in it. He threw himself. He was out the car. They were looking at data. They turned into full racing drivers.

01:11:39:24 - 01:11:54:18
Craig Dolby
Really. They went full racing driver mode, which we needed them to do really. Because, you know, they had to learn what they would get out. You wouldn't have to ask them to go and look at data. They would be at the data station, you know, going through everything, learning. It was.

01:11:54:20 - 01:12:16:21
Chris Dawes
And I'm not surprised to hear that of Brad because there's always that story. Fight club is there. He went and lived with the dipsy. Yeah. Fighter. Yeah. To learn the language properly, to learn the fighting and got itself in shape. And he was phenomenal in the club. Absolutely incredible. So he he immersed. He's like the ultimate what they call him character actor or whatever gets in it hugely.

01:12:16:24 - 01:12:21:09
Chris Dawes
But this is a young actor in terms of that went into acting not racing.

01:12:21:09 - 01:12:42:09
Craig Dolby
Yeah, exactly. And yeah. And also Brad has a love of bikes. He, he kind of has done a lot on bikes. And you could see he knew racing lines. He knew and Damson he had an opportunity and a bit like say like Luke and myself in motor racing. The door opens. You grab an opportunity. Yeah. Damson had an opportunity.

01:12:42:09 - 01:13:03:24
Craig Dolby
He is one of the nicest people. I'm probably the one of the greatest up-and-coming actors that will come, come around because he's got that mentality, right? That, yeah, he's approachable, he's lovely to be around. He's. People want to work hard for him. Not, you know, if he asked us to stay and do extra bits and learn, we would stay like.

01:13:03:26 - 01:13:05:04
Chris Dawes
Yeah, in that respect for him, you.

01:13:05:05 - 01:13:16:00
Craig Dolby
Respect his there and you have to give them respect for someone in a racing car. Strap them into a single seater where you're leaning back. So basically.

01:13:16:02 - 01:13:19:11
Chris Dawes
You know, you're not sat next to him at this point. You know, there are you you.

01:13:19:14 - 01:13:36:12
Craig Dolby
Then send him out the pit lane on your own and follow them and then hope that everything goes to plan and they listen and trust you. Yeah, that is a hats off moment to anybody that does it, let alone in to do your lines, do all of everything else. So you know both of them. You could not fault their commitment.

01:13:36:12 - 01:13:42:01
Chris Dawes
And on that front, because I know a lot of you will be wondering this Brad Pitt is as nice as we think he is.

01:13:42:03 - 01:13:51:25
Craig Dolby
He's lovely. Absolutely. Both of them were amazing. Brad was was lovely as well. Absolutely loves his motorsport. You know he can drive. I mean, what a guy.

01:13:51:25 - 01:13:56:22
Chris Dawes
I still believe that we'll see him on a grid of something racing at some point.

01:13:56:24 - 01:14:00:08
Craig Dolby
I hope so, yeah. Do you know he's quick?

01:14:00:15 - 01:14:02:02
Chris Dawes
Do you reckon he'll do it under pseudonym?

01:14:02:02 - 01:14:21:29
Craig Dolby
They're not. You'll do it. Yeah. You miss him? Yeah. Like he deserves to do it. As in. Oh yeah. Yeah. And and he's quick enough. You know, he like what we did was in F1. You think we did nearly two years of filming. Yeah. Two years of coaching with us and all sorts of tracks around the world. Not once do you look at him and think, oh, he's faltered here.

01:14:22:04 - 01:14:29:25
Craig Dolby
He was just a true professional. Wow. And, you know, I can probably say I had emotions and he did know. Yeah.

01:14:29:28 - 01:14:32:19
Chris Dawes
Which I suppose is designed because you're the one that's pushing those things. Yeah.

01:14:32:19 - 01:14:52:07
Craig Dolby
We focused on race, you know, like we did. You know, we made it look good. I have two crashing cars, unfortunately. Yeah. My job, that's all. That is a hard is my bad to be fair, I have never been so scared in my life. And when you do a crash and when you know it's coming, like when you crash a racing car, you don't really know.

01:14:52:09 - 01:14:52:29
Chris Dawes
Yeah, you.

01:14:52:29 - 01:15:12:24
Craig Dolby
Crash on a film set. You sit there and waiting for like. I'm like, I'm sat in the car, strapped in, ready to go for a crash, and they're like, oh, just wait in the light. It's not right. And then the jaws of life come out of my heart and I'm not getting out of it. So, you know, I tell you about this film industry, those people that jump off to.

01:15:12:25 - 01:15:36:29
Craig Dolby
Yes and sell some fire to all of those incredible fight scenes, they are so talented. But the similarities in motorsport and the film industry is so close to us, how hard they train the professionals and how, you know, every day they wake up and their goal is to be the best at what they do. And and I think that's why we fit into that world as well.

01:15:36:29 - 01:16:01:05
Craig Dolby
Is that like when we go and drive the cars on set, it's like, yes, you're not doing a lap time, but every point, every apex or every camera that you've got to get to is like doing a quality that. Yeah, you know, and that's the most insane bullst. You know, when you get in a car and they say action and you, you wheel to wheel bashing crashing, it's just it's an amazing fix for me.

01:16:01:05 - 01:16:01:21
Craig Dolby
Like, did.

01:16:01:21 - 01:16:21:11
Chris Dawes
You ever struggle though with the pace? Always struck me with people that act. I would love that. People that know me know I'm a performer and I would love to get acting, but the one thing I've always known would be a struggle for me is that patient to go. What I might be doing now, I'm not going to see what this is all about for potentially years.

01:16:21:11 - 01:16:28:29
Chris Dawes
Yeah. Certainly months. It's not, you know, over a year. Did you struggle with everything that you were doing? You didn't know until it was finished?

01:16:29:01 - 01:16:44:27
Craig Dolby
No. Because you see it on a monitor. So like when they film you, you see it on the monitor and you see it in film quality and yeah, roughly what they're going to do. But then, I mean, I did a job in Slovenia and most of the film, everything think we did in Slovenia actually didn't make film really.

01:16:44:27 - 01:16:51:12
Craig Dolby
So there's a lot of footage in films. You can film all this cool stuff and then I, you know, like.

01:16:51:14 - 01:16:52:10
Chris Dawes
On the cutting room floor.

01:16:52:11 - 01:16:59:02
Craig Dolby
Especially the big budget films. The big budget films could probably supply the smaller budget films with all of their leftovers.

01:16:59:02 - 01:17:00:13
Chris Dawes
As a whole. Other film?

01:17:00:16 - 01:17:14:08
Craig Dolby
Yeah, you've got to have a lot. But then obviously when they add it all together, same on F1. There was so much footage that we had and we're like, oh, this looks good, or that's a nice move, but try and put it all into a I'm not sure.

01:17:14:08 - 01:17:21:29
Chris Dawes
How well did Max tell you this is only going to be a five minute interview that we put.

01:17:22:01 - 01:17:28:21
Chris Dawes
But there is also talk of being more to follow. I don't know how much we're allowed to talk about, I think.

01:17:28:21 - 01:17:46:27
Craig Dolby
So, I mean, I've seen reports of Apple have, said that it would be a sequel. I'd love you know, and I think there is I think motorsport at the minute is booming. I think you look at them on the and full, you know, you look at F1, it's probably got the biggest audience it's ever had to, you know, drive to survive and done that.

01:17:46:27 - 01:18:08:15
Craig Dolby
Well it has you know the fan base is definitely different, but hopefully the more these films I think the film is more authentic than, say, like a drive to survive. And people will see what most especially the Daytona sequence. Yeah, but I love the Daytona sequence. And not that I wasn't like, obviously I was doing it, but not just because of that.

01:18:08:15 - 01:18:27:22
Craig Dolby
I think it also shows the the variety of motorsport. And I think hopefully that lens filters down into people that live local tycoon will go, oh, there's a race on this weekend. I love watching that film. Let's go and watch a race, you know, and and I think hopefully if they did a second one, they might push the boundaries a little bit more.

01:18:27:25 - 01:18:34:28
Craig Dolby
Obviously there's always limits on what you can do for, you know, bringing motorsport. Let's as more motorsport films are better in my eyes.

01:18:34:28 - 01:18:35:12
Chris Dawes
I agree.

01:18:35:18 - 01:18:40:09
Craig Dolby
Yeah, yeah, there's been some fantastic ones and I think there'll be some big ones to come.

01:18:40:12 - 01:18:53:25
Chris Dawes
Yeah, let's be honest. I mean, sadly we just lost Robert Duval, but, Days of Thunder, I mean, that's not a patch on. What the. You know, the clever effects in on the F1 movie, but as a movie, it got my attention. Yeah. So good entertainment.

01:18:53:25 - 01:19:03:11
Craig Dolby
Yeah. And then Talladega Nights. Yeah. Like that. You know. Oh, yeah. So Days of Thunder there is like again it's rumors of the Days of Thunder too.

01:19:03:11 - 01:19:10:03
Chris Dawes
Yes. Well if he's done the top. Yeah. Top Gun two then. Then why not I mean it's do these two.

01:19:10:05 - 01:19:20:15
Craig Dolby
It is doable. Oh. He's doable. You know, again, all these, these racing films, even if they are, like, Talladega Nights were a bit of humor there.

01:19:20:17 - 01:19:38:22
Chris Dawes
Well, I said this about the F1 movie, what I thought was brilliant about it. We're talking at it about it from a motorsport fan perspective, but it was brilliant because you could watch that film not caring or knowing anything about motorsport before or after and maybe potentially not even after, but would still enjoy that film.

01:19:38:22 - 01:19:39:10
Craig Dolby
Exactly.

01:19:39:11 - 01:19:41:27
Chris Dawes
I thought that was a clever line that they trod.

01:19:42:00 - 01:19:49:00
Craig Dolby
And that's, you know, when you look at Jerry Bruckheimer, he's got Joe involved. He got all the right people.

01:19:49:00 - 01:19:49:18
Chris Dawes
Yeah.

01:19:49:20 - 01:20:13:08
Craig Dolby
They've literally tick the box on on how to do it properly. And like you said, the music was amazing. Like you said, the sound like the storyline was not so motorsport based that people wouldn't understand it if they didn't have never watched motorsport before. And and that was a very big thing. Like, you couldn't have them getting penalties and all of the F1, no technology, too much data.

01:20:13:09 - 01:20:33:21
Craig Dolby
You need to simplify it all. And I think there was a fine balance of keeping throughout school trying to seek the best. Yeah. When we when we first say you like you've got Netflix, you've got F1 fans. True F1 hardcore motorsport fans, Netflix people have never watched trying to for all this together to make something that's cool.

01:20:33:23 - 01:20:54:17
Chris Dawes
I mean, on a, on a lesser scale, I've always said that we have to do that in the commentaries that we've got the, you know, people like me, like the absolute anoraks that know so much about it, and you've got those that it's their first ever time to come. And it's like, if I just addressed to them, then these people go, I've no idea what you all about, but if I did too much there, I could condescend the experts.

01:20:54:17 - 01:21:02:21
Chris Dawes
Yeah. And you have to be really clever the way that you, you try to embrace all parties in it during the course of a whole day. Yeah, of doing it.

01:21:02:21 - 01:21:13:29
Craig Dolby
And I think you can you can see that how well you do your job is like when when we go round at the end on the car, every single person is on their feet. They understand who's where, who's done what. And I think that's, you know.

01:21:14:06 - 01:21:17:12
Chris Dawes
Sometimes we make up the stories and subplots, but that's fine as well.

01:21:17:19 - 01:21:20:26
Craig Dolby
So you've got to keep the audience embraced. It's a.

01:21:20:26 - 01:21:21:13
Chris Dawes
Show.

01:21:21:16 - 01:21:27:28
Craig Dolby
At the end of the day, motorsport is a show you've got to entertain. And that's, you know, every last detail is partial front.

01:21:27:29 - 01:21:37:15
Chris Dawes
Which is why you love coming here in these cars. It's it's your escape and it's entertainment. And, you know, you're putting on a show and you do embrace that part as well. Yeah.

01:21:37:15 - 01:22:04:06
Craig Dolby
Of course. Like there's I'm not going to lie like when I go around here and I'm doing quick lap times and I know that people on the outside are enjoying it. That's a great moment for me. And you know, it makes me proud of what I've done. You know, those years where I'd have to miss a year of racing or you know, where you think your whole career has gone those kind of times, like standing on that podium car, going round and waving at everyone that makes those years better.

01:22:04:06 - 01:22:18:16
Craig Dolby
Yeah. You know, and they are tough when you've been there. But then now I smile every day and be like, I've got an amazing career that I absolutely love. And coming to Q makes my year. To be honest, when I come here, this is like my tick box.

01:22:18:16 - 01:22:23:17
Chris Dawes
Yeah, yeah. And you are. You may be from up in Melton Mowbray, but you're adopted. One of ours, I'm afraid.

01:22:23:18 - 01:22:24:13
Craig Dolby
I don't mind that.

01:22:24:14 - 01:22:25:16
Chris Dawes
I'll take that one. You are.

01:22:25:16 - 01:22:27:06
Craig Dolby
I'll be here many years to come.

01:22:27:06 - 01:22:42:10
Chris Dawes
The 2005, the 2011 version of you into this. Yeah. Everything. Does that version of you still pinch yourself for all these things that we've just been discussing today?

01:22:42:12 - 01:23:03:13
Craig Dolby
100%? You know, it just shows like I've come from a background where, yeah, I'm like, probably not got the budget set of the people have got, you know, and every day was was tricky when I was growing up. But I always had a goal of driving cars for a living. Yeah. And my career has gone that way.

01:23:03:13 - 01:23:16:16
Craig Dolby
It's gone that way. It's gone upside down. It's gone backwards. It's gone forwards. And I've never, ever given up on that. Driving a car for a living. If you told me when I was ten years old that are being on these films, I would have laughed.

01:23:16:16 - 01:23:17:03
Chris Dawes
Yeah, yeah.

01:23:17:04 - 01:23:19:06
Craig Dolby
You know, and I and it.

01:23:19:06 - 01:23:21:05
Chris Dawes
Wasn't even a dream. Yeah, that was the thing.

01:23:21:05 - 01:23:21:19
Craig Dolby
I was dreaming.

01:23:21:19 - 01:23:22:25
Chris Dawes
The film even.

01:23:22:25 - 01:23:44:27
Craig Dolby
To that day when I met Wade on that day at Silverstone. Even then, it depending didn't rock to me that this could be a career. Like I was just doing my job coaching for him then, you know, I made a great friend. Yeah, when I went to work and I saw the detail that these films put in and the amount of do you know, that was when I was like, wow, this could be a career for me and not whole world came.

01:23:44:27 - 01:24:01:17
Chris Dawes
But you've had to learn a lot and develop a lot because you didn't. You, as you said, you were no longer just doing those stunt pieces that go right, go from here to here and make it look dramatic. Yeah. You know, I love the story where you're saying, that you guys were. There's the script, right? How do we bring this to life?

01:24:01:18 - 01:24:14:04
Chris Dawes
You were having to do? And what are the angles? And I forgot a point was that you suddenly Taran said, right. We need one of us in the pool of drivers to be behind, going at the same speed as us. Yeah, but they're just camera cars. Yeah, exactly.

01:24:14:06 - 01:24:35:24
Craig Dolby
And that's like we, you know, Duncan Taffy, who I raced against my whole career, who's a great part of our team, was like, he then became a camera car driver that had cameras right low down on the nose on the rear that, you know, we just use. We'd dance around Duncan effectively on the track, and he was driving our speeds.

01:24:35:24 - 01:24:43:15
Craig Dolby
Yes. And, you know, that was like what we we made that happen. They weren't just going to have a camera call that doing a hundred miles an hour in the end.

01:24:43:17 - 01:24:44:16
Chris Dawes
Like that ain't going to work.

01:24:44:17 - 01:24:49:18
Craig Dolby
We had one of us doing it to make it another set. And that's a massive point.

01:24:49:18 - 01:24:57:10
Chris Dawes
You've gone you've punched through that wall of not just being a stunt driver, that you're very much involved in the hope for the whole.

01:24:57:10 - 01:25:18:06
Craig Dolby
But I think being a racing driver, growing up, you want to do a good qualifying lap or to do a good race. You have to understand how the car works, how to get the maximum out of the tires, how to do you know what the wind direction is, what, what the track conditions are he? All of these ingredients make you something a little bit special.

01:25:18:09 - 01:25:44:25
Craig Dolby
So when I went into the film industry, I was like, right, how does it all work? How does camera people work? How do special effects work? And I also now work for special effects. I was saying earlier that I drove, on Masters of the air that B17, so I plotted around at ten miles an hour for a year, taxiing a B-17 with special effects and, you know, like, not only do I drive now, I then go and drive these big rigs for special effects.

01:25:44:27 - 01:26:02:25
Craig Dolby
And because obviously not every film was going to be a driving film. So you have to then think out of a box on how to, to make that crate work. But, you know, I think from motorsport, when you, you bring all of those aspects into the film world and you learn, you know, you don't just come in there and go, right, I just want to drive.

01:26:03:01 - 01:26:25:07
Craig Dolby
I'm like, how do I make myself the best? How do I make myself understand? Make every director want to go right? I want Craig me. You know, that's and that's what I do when I Christ, you know, if I want, I want to be on pole and you've got to put all the effort in. Well, I went to the film industry and was like, right, I need to now push, you know, I need to make sure that not only when I drive, but even when I'm out the car, I'm in the right place.

01:26:25:07 - 01:26:44:12
Craig Dolby
I go and get coffee when I'm, you know, when you first in the industry, you go, you make cardboard boxes for people to jump off a building into. And I'm watching people make cardboard boxes like they make cardboard boxes. Not three seconds. My five minutes like trying to hold a cardboard box. But you could see the attention of detail that all the other people in the industry put in.

01:26:44:14 - 01:26:48:12
Craig Dolby
I was all right, I've got to join that. And then, you know, go on more.

01:26:48:13 - 01:26:48:27
Chris Dawes
Yeah, yeah.

01:26:49:00 - 01:26:50:15
Craig Dolby
And that's the most, you know.

01:26:50:21 - 01:27:08:13
Chris Dawes
I've always, I live by a phrase is that, that keep pushing and as you break through a door, whatever that looks to be. Now be looking around, see what other doors you can now see. I mean, I always think back to when I first got taken on as part of the commentary team here. That just blew my mind on like, like you said, can believe there's a career.

01:27:08:13 - 01:27:23:28
Chris Dawes
It never it never crossed my mind. I nearly didn't even apply for it because I was like, I for other people get to do not me. And you must have had that 100%. But by going for it, be part of the team that suddenly I got more commentary gigs. But then I'm a voiceover artist, I'm hosting a black tie event.

01:27:23:28 - 01:27:39:22
Chris Dawes
So I'm, you know, presenting on radio and doing all of these. And that's because every time you go through so proud of what you've achieved. But now go right. What can I say now? Yeah. Who who should I be speaking to here. Yeah. And it's always be looking, always be pushing. You never know what is possible exactly.

01:27:39:22 - 01:27:59:22
Craig Dolby
You over one door open that. You open two doors. It opens for you know, and you have to be ready to adapt and embrace that. And, and I've managed out of a career that kind of went away in motorsport. I still drive cars for a living and I get to drive some pretty cool stuff, get to do some pretty cool.

01:27:59:22 - 01:28:02:01
Chris Dawes
Stuff and befriend some ridiculously amazing.

01:28:02:01 - 01:28:13:04
Craig Dolby
And yeah, get to travel the world, be a friends of some amazing people, have that lifestyle that, you know, I've always dreamed of growing up racing. I still get to drive and you still get to have fun.

01:28:13:04 - 01:28:29:21
Chris Dawes
And and that's a key one, is that we both work very hard and are different directions. Yours considerably more glamorous than mine. But it's like still pushing hard. But we will stop and enjoy ourselves. And exactly. We are very lucky here at Castle to. That includes us. You coming here and playing with these cars in front of us.

01:28:29:21 - 01:28:32:08
Chris Dawes
We also thank Nigel Mansell for facilitating.

01:28:32:08 - 01:28:48:20
Craig Dolby
That and everything. So for being still, being able to race because I think genuinely, if it wasn't for Nigel, I probably wouldn't get in race cars on like a film set like F1. Yeah, but Nigel actually brings my balls still to life, you know, like and and.

01:28:48:20 - 01:28:50:03
Chris Dawes
He's one of our own as well.

01:28:50:09 - 01:29:01:03
Craig Dolby
I when you, when you talk to Nigel about racing here back in the day like that's. Yeah he's definitely 100% one of one of Castleton definitely gems definitely.

01:29:01:03 - 01:29:25:21
Chris Dawes
You know and well, listen, I could carry on talking to you forever and ever and ever. And there's probably so many things that you'll remember afterwards that we could have spoke about that. But, you know, hopefully we'll get more chances to speak to you. Thank you so much for doing this. Thank you very much for for breaking the record once and coming back hopefully this year, 2026, to break it again, take it back again, as we know with what could be a very interested in car.

01:29:25:21 - 01:29:28:08
Chris Dawes
This could be here. Yeah. But thank you so much. Thank you.

01:29:28:08 - 01:29:29:23
Craig Dolby
Very much. Thank you for having us.

01:29:30:00 - 01:29:41:20
Chris Dawes
Thank you, thank you. That was Craig Dalby. I hope you enjoyed it. We'll see you next time.

01:29:41:22 - 01:29:42:04
Chris Dawes
See?
