SELLEST OSAST
In this episode of the Authority On Demand Podcast, hosted by Danielle Hutchinson, John Graham shares insights from his work as an author, professor, former Navy SEAL, and peacebuilder.
John’s career has taken him from military service and international business to teaching negotiation and working in peacebuilding. Over the years, he has written numerous books that explore conflict, relationships, creativity, and the ways people and countries can work together more effectively.
During the conversation, John explains how his books are connected through the ideas of family, invention, and exchange. He discusses The Hidden Front Line, which explores how war affects military families, as well as Under One Roof, which looks at the challenges and opportunities of multigenerational households.
He also introduces And: How to Build Relationships Through Inventive Negotiation, a book that focuses on using creativity and innovative thinking to solve negotiation problems. Unlike traditional negotiation methods that focus on dividing the available resources, inventive negotiation aims to create something better for everyone involved.
John also shares how AI was used to explore possible solutions in Paths to Peace, a free resource available in multiple languages. He explains how AI can help identify overlooked perspectives, generate ideas, and approach difficult issues in a more balanced way, while still requiring human judgment.
Another important topic is the connection between international trade and peace. John explains that trade can create interdependence, encourage cultural understanding, and lead to new ideas through collaboration between people from different countries.
