Parent Group Talk With Sarah Kesty Now Available to Watch & Listen!
Missed this week’s ADHDKC Parent Group talk with Sarah Kesty? Good news—you can still catch it!
Sarah shared practical, encouraging strategies for understanding executive function and supporting teens without turning executive-function struggles into a judgment about effort, motivation, or character.
Rather than giving you all the answers here, we’ll just say: this is one you’ll want to watch. Sarah brings a “detective perspective” to executive function—helping parents get curious about why something is happening and what might make things work better for their child. She also shared some wonderfully practical ideas for making strategies more brain-friendly and helping teens develop their own systems.
Sarah introduces her CSR framework for strengthening executive functioning skills:
* Capture – Write things down. Your brain isn’t built to remember everything.
* Schedule – Block time weekly to organize your notes and tasks.
* Remind – Use tools (digital or analog) to prompt future-you to take action.
She mentioned in the talk that she’d share an article about the CSR method. Learn how to get students to use their planners with the button below.
By learning to respect how your brain works and setting up supports that align with it, you can build more trust in yourself—and follow through on the things that matter most.
Sarah reminded us that executive-function skills can grow—and that finding the right strategy is often an experiment rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
One more reason to listen to Sarah’s talk: her message is ultimately hopeful. Executive function isn’t a character trait you either have or don’t have. They’re skills—and skills can grow.
